I say yes, you say no, OR People are Strange

No, Barbara. You don't have to say it. Not at all.
-
Just you wait, E. Just you wait.
-
I spent all day yesterday curled into a ball under my bed, weeping amidst the dust bunnies. Do you really want to send me back there?
-
OK, we *might* let you have this one but then you are coming to OUR house and all bets are off.
We are having leftover baked ziti with a big organic salad.
-
Tonight is fajitas with my son cooking and my daughter and her kids here. Red wine for Grandma and store brand ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Still tastes better when someone else cooks!
-
This is hilarious. I didn't think he had it in him.
-
It's wickedly perfect. Loved it!
-
Sometimes he surprises me pleasantly.
-
And look, Maw, no teleprompter!!!
Barbara and Enjoyful -- As I've learned they say in the south "I don't have a dog in this hunt" so I'll have to say:
Go Caps!
Go Lightning!
-
That video is hilarious. I thought Obama made Trump squirm in his seat and "The Donald" didn't look amused. Seth Meyers made some hilarious comments too.
"Seth Meyers opened by noting that Mr Trump claims he is considering "running for president as a Republican. Which is surprising, because I thought he was running as a joke."
Seth also ribbed Obama:
"The comedian pointed out how the shine has come off the president and office has aged him – "Look at your hair. If your hair gets any whiter, the Tea Party is going to endorse it".
Go Caps and Lightning but my allegiance changes on Wednesday. (Canucks)
Election day is tomorrow...and again in a few months... if we get another minority!

Here's a good explanation of how the US arrived at its debt-ridden state. It's really difficult to argue with the points the author makes - wouldn't you agree?
-
I saw the program last night and thought Obama did well. However, I really think that guy Seth went too far in picking on Trump. I like a joke too but to be so cruel was going too far imo, and I actually felt sorry for Trump. I think Trump was at an unfair advantage and to be on tv and humiliated like that was just too much no matter what Trump had done about the birth certificate issue. Sometimes a comedian needs to know how far over the line to go and this guy Seth didn't. He was too insulting and it was not funny as far as I am concerned. Especially when he started getting "personal" and bringing Trump's hair into the act. I think he is a "Kathy Griffin" wantabe and even she knows when to stop. I despise comedians who have to get a laugh by insulting other people's appearances. That is a "no no" in my book.

He's playing with the big boys Medigal. They take no prisoners....I hope he got the message and slips quietly away.
-
Breaking news ladies-it is being reported that Osama Bin Laden has been killed in Afghanistan by US forces.

Medigal, that event is basically a roast so I think Trump was fair game. In comparison, I think Trump was despicable when he called the press into his office a few years ago to berate and call Rosie O'Donnell a "fat pig" . I am not a Rosie fan but I think a guy of Trump's stature should know better than to get into spitting matches over utter nonsense. The man has no class and no diplomacy so maybe it's time someone called him on his brass BS. He gave an "f" bomb laden speech in Vegas a few days ago...classy...really classy! I actually think he is a very intolerant, racist man and I hope people don't buy into his crap.
Blue it's not likely he'll quietly slip away but we can always hope he slithers away and goes back under his rock. I just hope he fires Star Jones first though
On a more positive note, Bin Laden has been taken out and kudos to the US for making it happen. -
Dang. Why is it that, as soon as I heard the news, the only thing that popped into my head was the 1978 movie "Capricorn One"?
I really can't imagine how this will change anything. In fact, it will probably make things worse, since the al-Qaeda terrorist cells work so independently now, and there are individuals who are quite willling to do us harm all by themselves. Plus, the raid that killed Bin Laden took place in Pakistan, which is not surprising but is not a good thing. (We didn't have permission, did we?) Does this mean we can get out of Afghanistan?
I don't think I feel the same sense of relief my parents felt when Hitler's burned corpse was found in Berlin, signaling the end of WW II.

I just heard that the Pakistani government co-operated in the operation. I really hope that this shortens the Afghanistan mission. I heard today that it's been 10 years in Afghanistan and 8 years in Iraq. I sincerely hope this is the beginning of the end.
Otter, I can't imagine what it was like for your parents and so many others to see the end of Hitler. The jubialtion and relief that they must have felt would be immeasurable. Let's hope that people cheering outside the White House tonight symbolize the good changes to come.
We are witnessing history in the making...Bin Laden is dead, Middle East countries are rising up against dicatatorships, the masses continue to seek equality....I really feel that the tide is shifting for the better good of humankind. Please let it be so! -
Well, Pickle, although I agree with your sentiment, I'm not holding my breath. The Middle Eastern people have been fighting each other for thousands of years and I suspect they will continue to do so.
On another note: sorry E. GO LIGHTNING!
-
I don't think you're sorry at all. Not one bit.
I've started naming the dust bunnies.
On the bin Laden issue - It was the right thing to do BUT I'm wary of the repercussions.
-
I thought Seth Meyers was hysterical overall but I didn't find the Trump-hair jokes all that funny. Surely he could have done better!
-
E, your WTTG really got this one wrong. Well, they are Fox after all.
-
Oh Barbara what an awful awful mistake. But like you said it is Fox.
-
That guy is probably fired. Faux Pas of the decade.
-
Oh, my. Just....cringe-worthy.
-
Today's the day we vote in Canada!
-
How do we really know Bin Laden is dead? Sorry for being so paranoid but DP saw the news and said they dumped his body into a river or something. Doesn't our government have to show more proof than that to take kudos for his demise? Anyone's body could have been dumped into that river and I don't want this madman to pop up again in a few years after we have let our guard down. Does anyone know of any proof of his death? Just curious as to what is really happening here. Thanks! I also agree this does not stop the fighting in the mideast. Those people are bound to fight forever, imo and I just wish we would get the blazes OUT of there!
-
Medigal -- Maybe you'll just have to trust the Navy Seals and bin Laden's wife, who confirmed his death, through DNA testing. As for burial at "sea" (not river), Muslim law stipulates burial within 24 hours of death. I guess maybe they didn't want to run the risk of having an actual funeral and ground burial.....think about it.
-
Puleeze let's not start the paranoia game - think about it before you speak - the families of the 9/11 victims really don't need this to be politicized - nor do any of the countries with loved ones who died fighting two wars over this.
Sandy
-
I believe the Pakistan government also verified his death.
Medigal, I don't know what to say regarding further proof. It's like the birth certificate issue - how much evidence is good enough? No matter what, there will always be doubters.
-
I'm thrilled that we finally got Osama!
I am doubly glad that Obama chose to do it in what I consider the honorable way. He did not take the easy way out and authorize planes just dropping bombs over the whole area and killing a lot of other people ... women and children included in the process ... and just hoping that Osama would be among the dead. They went in and got their target - Osama - face to face. I am triple glad that none of our military men involved in the mission got hurt or killed.
Respecting Muslim customs regarding the body was a smart move ... it deprives the extremists of a flash point for stirring up more anti-American fervor.
Well done Mr. President and all the intelligence and military people involved!
All this kind of explains why he didn't really have time to mess with all that birth certificate foolishness doesn't it?!
