Michelle thank you. I did go to Sedona and the weather was perfect. I loved where we stayed at Sky Ranch Lodge. We had a garden in the back of our room. It was so beautiful to see God's creation. It would of been great to have meet up with you again. Maybe another time.

Hi Ladies, sorry I missed the coffee date.  I was actually in town, but my DH got the day off so we spent the day together (awww...)  I was back in AZ for my 6 month check up.  I was scared as a lump popped up about a week before my scheduled 6 month appt with Dr Northfelt, and rather quickly right where my lumpectomy site was! So I moved up my mammo and flew back early; it was a week of horrible thoughts.  Of course they saw it on my mammo, and did immediate US.  Turns out it is a seroma right where my scar area is.  *whew*  I saw Dr Northfelt on my scheduled day, and given the all clear.

Elizabeth, I am so glad you're updating here - because I have been wondering about you. SO glad to hear your great news! Blessings for sure.

Have a great rest of the week everyone.  One of these days I will hit town when we have another meet up...

Hi axtella, I live in Glendale I have lived here for 10 years now. Born and raised in Chandler. I have seen that treatment center in Goodyear. Never went there. My Dr. is Dr. Ondreyco and I just love her. I have been seeing her since 2008. I am starting over with my cancer it has now developed in my bones. I am in partial remission and now on lifetime management care. So I will have my port for a long time. You will be glad that you have it. It is a Godsent to me. I wish you the best starting Wednesday. Usually the SE's hit me on the 2nd to 3rd day. By the time I had to go back I felt well again. Figures huh. I hope that you do not have to face all the SE's and get to work through it all. Welcome to the group. Send a message anytime. We would love for you to join us on our get togethers. We are a fun crowd.

    Update:

Just wanted to let everyone know that when I saw Dr. Ondreyco (oncologist) she referred me back to the radiologist to see if I can have radiation again to take care of the pain I have been experiencing. Dr Richmond (radiologist) said I cannot do radiation I have reached my max. So then both Dr.'s referred me to see an Orthopedic Surgeon. I did see him yesterday and had some x-rays done. Dr. Seidel (surgeon) says I need to have surgery for my hip/leg on the left side. He will burrow out the bone marrow and some of the bone that the cancer has been eating away. Then they will place a rod in my hip and one down my whole leg close to my knee attached to two screws. I am lucky cause I have not fractured my leg or hip which is better cause I will not have to do a replacement. Surgery is an hour long, hospital stay is 1 - 2 days will be walking right away and out of pain. Is that amazing or what! I am not looking forward to another surgery yet I am looking forward to being out of pain and off pain meds. Thank you for your support and prayers

Elizabeth - That is amazing and wonderful news! When are you having surgery? What hospital?

Of course another surgery isn't going to be fun, but this sounds like it will give you excellent results - taking away the pain and getting you off of those meds will be wonderful.

Keep up updated! I'm so happy that you found this option.

Hi everyone!!!  I have a question regarding PS in Phoenix...  I am having a major issue with my implants, I think the pocket has slipped and now my implant is moving around in my chest, scraping against my chest wall and basically doing flop flops under my muscle.  This HURTS!!!!  I made an appointment to see my PS on 6-22 and he does good work but I really feel like I am nothing but a  pair of foobs to him.  I really don't want to go blindly to the slaughter as I did the first time and I sure as heck do not want to deal with this issue again so I am looking for 2nd opinions.  Can anyone recommend a Phx PS who not only does good work but cares about the person as well???

I am also open to other reconstruction options...

Mayo Clinic has three PS there. We have been to them all. I have been to Dr. Casey, Karen has been to Dr. Rebecca Alan, Dr K. Karen Clark saw along w/ Rebrecca/ We all love our Dr's and love the results and would not have it any other. Those are the only surgerons that I know of and they have coming highly recommended.

What about Dr Deborah Bash???  Whippetmom recommended her very highly but the online ratings are not so good...I completely trust whippetmom but those reviews made me a little nervous Undecided

I did send meekone a PM as I saw she had consulted with her last year.

WhippetMom recommended Dr. Deborah Trojanowski to me, she's on N Hayden Road, Scottsdale.  I didn't see her....my PS was able to do my second recon a day before I would have seen Dr. T. for a consult.  I just wanted to get it over with, so stayed with Dr. Gawley.

Hey Ladies, I interviewed as least six different PS in and around the Phoenix area and I was not sold.  Some of the PS I saw were .........Dr. Trojanowski of Scottsdale, Dr. Farnsworth in Ahwatukee, Dr. Thai in Mesa. Those are the ones that I remember off had, would have to check my "Cancer Diary" for others.

I personally was very unhappy with my consultation with Mrs. Trojanowski.  I have heard people say that she is one of the most sought out PS in Arizona.  Her bedside manner did not sit well with me.  She was the only PS I went to see that when I left I was in tears in the parking lot.

I am was very happy with Dr. Bash immediately at Mayo, both her and her assistant Julia have been nothing but the best to me.  Every time I am in Mayo I am on the lookout because I want to say hi.  I highly recommend her.  I think by the time I went to see her after seeing so many before her I was almost depressed about the whole situation and fearful I was not going to find a PS that I felt as though I truly trusted and felt safe with.  But she is/was very caring.  She listens to your concerns, I am a team member with her in regards to my reconstruction.  Lastly I really do feel like she cares about me and my outcome.  I am a very hands on person who is very involved in her treatment, so much that some doctors (outside of Mayo) probably felt I was a nuisance.

But Dr. Bash and others at MAYO have nothing but welcomed my involvement.

I would most definitely recommend her....100%

Mayo has added 2 or 3 additional plastic surgeons.  I personally did not like Dr Casey, but his work is outstanding.  I see Dr Rebecca (yes that is her last name) and she is wonderful.  Mayo does it all, diep, implants, repairs, etc  highly recommend mayo

I am so excited!  I am also going to interview for a new oncologist at Mayo once the whole implant issue is resolved.  I would love to have doctors that actually want to know a little about me, not just my disease.

I have felt so alone and adrift the last 8 months or so, since my ThyCa dx when my onc never even called me to see how I was holding up... Until then I liked and trusted her. I didn't always agree with her, but I thought she a little cared about me as a person. I have been hurt, sad and a bit resentful since then...
