Anyone watching Season 10 of American Idol?

Thanks, Vicki, good to know, nothing else made much sense from an advertising and viewing standpoint!
-
The contestants are actually singing it live at 5pm (west coast time)...but the west coast audience doesn't view it until 8pm.
Count me in as bored too! A lot of predictable choices (except for maybe Casey). I agree that Pia is a great singer ~ but she is so predictable and boring. ... but then I was thinking that I thought the exact same thing about Carrie Underwood! Carrie was SO stiff and boring on the show, but sang great. So I guess you never know once they go through the "image machine" ... Pia could have some potential!
The judges are boring me too
.... I miss cringing at what Simon might say (but you knew he was right) .. and cringing at what Paula might say because you knew it would always have a touch of crazy in it!
Though I do love Steven
... I love that he's not afraid to wear a girlie shirt with glitter thread! lol!
-
I agree, ladies...bored last night! Not very impressive.
While I think Steven is sweet and really like Jennifer, the constant ass-kissing and praising of blah performances is getting old. Yes, Jennifer threw in a few negatives, but I miss the Simon comments. Some where downright mean, but not necessarily wrong! I usually agreed with him, too!
-
I do think that it will be Naima, Thia and Karen in the bottom 3 with Naima being the one two go. She came in as a wild card and I really think she has not given a good performance since.
Even my girl Haley, was disappointing last night. Although, I found it funny that Randy kind of dinged her for choosing different styles of songs where, we here, are thinking the people who are doing the same type of songs week after week could be in trouble.
Still love James! Stephano turned out, in my eyes, to be one of the top performances of the night!
I read this today and thought it kind of summed up how many felt about last night's show....
"Tonight's "American Idol" was one weird episode. From some of the worst song choices in Idol history to all of the contestants' parents singing during their interviews, I was ready to shut the TV off, unplug it, take it outside to burn it, and never watch TV again.
The contestants had to sing songs from the years they were born. And since contestants are getting younger and younger, this theme is no longer a great one. Who wants to hear songs from 1989?"
We are heading to a March Madness party tonight so I am going to have to watch tonight's show recorded
-
Hey Seaside, I think you are right in your choice of bottom 3. I still don't get what Steven saw in Naima. Didn't like Casey's choice of song, of course I don't like that kind of music at all. I too miss Simon, sure sometimes he was really blunt but he was also usually right. He would have given scathing reviews last night. I think if she can push up her delivery and her self confidence a couple of notches, Lauren can be as good as Carrie Underwood. Love James, but agree with Steven's critique of not getting too pop, that one scream was a little off. Karen
-
Time zones are making me dizzy. However, I am glad AI is only on an hour tonight.
-
I'm going to DVR tonight's episode .. AND zap thru Ryan's staircase appearance and commercials. I hope and wish, tonight .. there is some type of redemption with the show. Boring ... Boring
Vicki Sam
-
they made the right decision in not using the save, I wonder if was a 2 to 1 split? Really do not understand Naimai's appeal.
-
karen...IMO yes it was a 2 to 1 split
i think AI is getting little weird.
Now I miss Simon. Need some action.
-
Having had the opportunity to visit several 'caribbean' islands, personally, Naimai is a 'don't worry, be happy' reincarnation of Bob Marley -and that vibe .. Just my humble opinion.
Thinking Naimai or Karen will be getting the boot, tonight

Boy, I agree with you ladies, it was awfully boring! I think Simon would have made it more entertaining - someone NEEDS to goad these contestants on! Jennifer did step it up a little and try to give them some constructive criticism, but I think Simon has the right idea - maybe you need to be mean because at least that will sink in. If I was standing up there, I would be nodding my head and not thinking at all about what they're saying - I would be thinking about what I looked like! HAHA! I guess I'm shallow!
Poor Hayley with that red lipstick on her face - that would be me.
I think James could have done better, and I think Lauren could have done better - even though she was sick, for one song she could have done better. When I heard she was going to sing Melissa Etheridge, I thought, Perfect! But she didn't put anything into it - at least according to my years of music school - NOTl! But there was no oomph! And she has oomph, and I think that IS a technical term...
Vicki Sam - the Sunset Strip comment was hilarious! She looked like she stepped right out of the 60's - if it was 60's week, she would have been right on target. My hair was so thick if I tried to put it on my head, it looked like that! So I couldn't wear it that way - I felt like I had a bowling ball on my head!
I agree - throw this "theme" out! There is hardly any good music from this era!
I told my son I was getting dizzy watching Paul - I wish the judges would quit complimenting his "moves". He looks like someone who is having a very long heart attack! Ryan actually had me laughing when he came out and mimicked him after last week's performance. That's about what it looks like. I'm sorry, Paul - you're cute, though, and you have a good voice. Just please stand still!
We recorded it and are getting ready to watch it now. Wasn't it funny how last night after Ryan said Lee DeWyze would perform, sounds like some of his friends went woo, but after he announced the Black-Eyed Peas there was dead silence? I guess the memory of their Super Bowl performance is still too fresh. I can imagine Fergie calling up Will I Am and saying, what's up with that? Where's the woot?
-
heartnsoul, agree with everything you said about Lauren, she's got to bring up the oomph, I know she's got it somewhere inside and she could have killed with that Melissa Etherridge song. Maybe next week, where is Simon when you need him, he could have gotten through to her. Karen
-
I couldn't even watch for an hour. Boring!
-
Well, not too surprised xxx left (edited for those who haven't seen it yet). Even though xxx was not one of my favorites, it's always sad when one of them leaves. I guess their crying makes me tear up! It looks like this part is going to be very hard on Stephen and Jennifer. They were both clearly distraught, and it will only get worse for them. They are two sensitive people, for sure!
Which makes me think of Simon again. I wonder if he loves anyone more than himself? I don't think any tear-jerker story could get to him. By the way, remember the big AI tribute on the last show last season to Simon and almost all of the Top Ten contestants over the years were there? And the conspicuous absence of David Cook? I always wondered if David wasn't happy about the way he was being marketed by AI, and if he and Simon had seriously butted heads about it. Because David Cook was REALLY good, and you just don't see him around much.
I hope they have a good theme next week - I am so ready for one!
-
heartnsoul76- I agree, I thought XXXX should have left. She sang okay, but she was kind of boring. Is it just me or did Fergie's face look wierd? I don't know if she had work or what. She obviously has a great body, but her face just seemed weird looking tonight for some reason. I agree with your Lauren comment too. I think she is really good, but she hasn't done so hot the last two weeks. She needs more energy or something.
I miss Simon too. I personally think the show is better than I expected it to be with the new judges. I think they have alot of good singers this year too. The only two I don't like are Paul and that country kid. I think the country kid sings good, but something about him irritates me....he's kind of cocky. As far as Paul, I don't dislike him personally, but am I missing something????? They seem to love him and I think his voice is horrible and whiney. I think the best ones are James, Casey (if he'd stop with the goofy faces) and the gospel guy (not sure of his name) he seems to be really into it. Pia is really good too, but she needs to try something more exciting too.
Sorry for rambling on. I think all this sitting in the house for the past 10 months is making me chatty or something.
-
None of them are Adam Lambert. No stage presents.
-
Yeah, Adam was one of a kind. I guess with all the great voices I was expecting more from the contestants this year but it doesn't seem like they're doing anything (or getting any coaching?) to make them better on stage. It's not just about great singing.
Not sad to see Naima go, although I did think it was cool that the judges got up on stage with her after the announcement and were clearly giving her some support and encouragement and sympathy. I miss Simon and his caustic comments, but I do also like the sweetness of Steven and Jennifer. Too bad they can't bring Simon back for even one week, that would shake things up!
-
hopeful.....Was that Fergie/ i thought it was someone else like you said didnt even look like her. She is always under heavy make up and sexy cloths..........
The right one went home and the other 2 will follow.
Something is missing from the show.I think they were better singers before than they are now.
-
Yes, it was Fergie last night singing with the 'Black Eyes Pea's' .. she looked weird, somewhat plastic .. if there is such a look. She also looked 'puffy' .. like she may of packed on 10 lbs. or bleached her skin, pastie white .. lighter colored hair, parted on the side ... new color plate, mixed in with the lighter hair color, and white dress .. she didn't look comfortable.. Hef moves were very jerky, and unsure.
ADIOS .. Karen!!! .. I really really HATE it when a 'contestant' states .. oh, please please keep me .. I will do better next week .. OH my lord, do these contestant's think it's Hollywood week .. do they not realize that someone will be going home for good .. week, after week, after week. Okay, maybe they think they are such great singers -- and the judges will save them.. I don't get it ... ! Okay ... again, I must say.. I miss Simon.
I used to love American Idol .. not so much, now. It may take a few weeks, viewership may drop off..in my humble opinion.
Naima .. should be AI's next victim....

What a difference!!!!!!
-
Seyla, from those pix, it looks like she's gained a noticable amount of weight. But it's hard to say for sure and I don't know her well at all so I'm not sure what she really looked like before.
Vicki, I agree -- I hate it when they beg, but I'm not sure why, except it seems a bit immature and whiny. If they know it's so important, why didn't they do better THIS week?
I disliked Naima's "victory dance" as she went to join the others on the couch. I understand she was happy to still be there, but it seemed like such a disrespectful thing to do, given that one of the two remaining was about to be booted.
I may lose interest soon, as I have in years past, and then pick it up near the end. We'll see, but AI may not be around much longer if it doesn't get better.
But then, when have I been right about anything to do with AI?
-
I'm sorry to see Karen go--I thought she was really good. I was sure it was going to be Naima's turn to leave, or maybe Haley or Casey (I could not stand his screaming and he actually looked angry throughout most of his performance). I love Scotty and Stefano and Lauren.
Anne
-
I agree that none of them bring any creative originality to the performances this year. They only seem to copy the original singer. At least Simin challenged them to become real artists not copycat versions of someone else. Boring!
-
hopeful - yes, Fergie looks weird! Thanks for the pictures, Seyla. Quite a difference - I think it's her eye makeup and hairstyle, and yes, puffiness. When we were watching it, my son said, "Is that Fergie?"
As far as the contestants still being boring, it's like they just quit trying! Seyla, you're right - they were better before! They're getting worse! I would LOVE to see all the judges criticize each contestant. I have not been a Stefano fan, but he's the only one who "brought his game" this week. I told my son that I actually liked his version better than the other two, but not enough to buy it. I love how they end each week of AI letting us know all the songs are available on iTunes, but so far I'm not buying!
I don't think I even own any country music, but I keep liking Scotty. Something about him is genuinely funny - he just makes me smile. Although Pia is pretty, I don't think she can hit the high notes - it just sounds like a scream at that point. I wish they would all stop with their "glory" notes. 90% of the time, they just don't fit right.
-
I'm ready to start blaming the judges.
The way they talk to the contestants is not right all the time.
Somebody has to come out and really judge. Its becoming like a kindergarten class. They are all getting star stickers no matter what.
As much as i love Jennifer. She is getting too emotional at the end. i know she really liked Karen but coom'n getting on the stage at the end and giving hugs in tears.
I MISSED SIMON.
One more thing if Randy says the word Pitchy i feel like slapping him LOL
OK I said it.
For me......
Jacob is boring always a smile on his face
Paul is moving around like he's dizzy
Casey doesn't do anything for me.
Thia and Naima are next.
Hailey is very uncomfortable and not real.
Scotty is cute but becoming an AI ?
Stefano is getting better.
Pia..I really liked her before but not now
James...I like him.
One more thing this is the first year i don't see that bond between the contestants.
They look little selfish.
Good Night.
Lauren is a goofy funny 16 year old with a big voice.
-
Sheila ... I pee'd my pants while reading your list of characters! Too funny, and oh ...so true!
Vicki Sam
-
I don't like the producer guy, I think he is the one messing up their songs. Other than that, I do like it better than I thought I would. I hardly watched it at all last year.
-
I have it DVR'd and haven't watched it yet, but my Mom spilled the beans so i found out who got the boot. (Pun intended
Sheila I also loved your list! The contestants had better step it soon. I'm losing interest as well.
Does anyone know if Paul plays an instrument? I think he'd be better with something in his hands, so some of his spastic movements can be controlled. As cute as he is, the herkey-jerkey performances are starting to really grate on my nerves!
Sherrill
-
Sherrill .. Paul's herkey-jerkey performance's makes me dizzy - LOL His spastic movements are no longer endearing,.
Vicki

I thought they got it right with Karen. I thought she was quite good two weeks ago, but she just isn't ready yet.
Haley is talented, but she has not figured out what will make people vote for her.
I still think Naima could be talented, but also not quite ready.
I think Casey is super, but I was not a big fan of his Nirvana cover.
I want to see where Jacob will go.
Durbin is really good, but that music is not quite my cup of tea.
In a way Scotty is the most comercial. Idol made a star of Carrie Underwood, and I see no reason he could not catch on.
I think Lauren is just a little young. Same with Thia, though her voice is really pretty.
