Thanks for that link, NatureGrrl! Here's what I found reading some of the comments:
Top 11 Facebook likes as of March 21:
Scotty - 29,376
Thia - 20,180
Lauren - 17,111
James - 12,254
Pia - 11,780
Casey - 10,841
Stefano - 10,320
Paul - 8,314
Jacob - 5,006
Haley - 4,263
Naima - 3,672This week will probably change everything since the contestants will FINALLY have to perform outside of their comfort zone. Although, I still think Scotty will do fine with the "Motown Sound". Others, maybe not so much....Pia and Thia will probably face a huge challenge with it.
-
Thia is in second! I think she is beautiful and sings good, but wow is she boring. I can't believe her and Scotty have the most followers. But, then again there are mostly younger people on facebook, so i guess it makes sense that the younger contestants have more followers. I agree that Scotty will get a recording cotract (as he should)...i just can't get past the cockiness.
I personally love motown music, so I am excited for motown week. I just hope they don't have too hard of a time with it. I think Scotty will find something. There have been plenty of motown songs he could do. I am not sure if Chuck Berry is motown or not but he could do Johnny Be Good or something.

My apologies for my last post -- deleted -- when I wrote it I was half-smiling but when I read it later it sounded a bit like I might be yelling, and that wasn't my intent. So if anyone felt I was being rude, I didn't mean to sound that way, and I'm sorry!
Seaside, thanks for posting about James' condition.
-
I didn't know that using all capital letters was like yelling, until my daughter read one of my e-mails when I was 1st learning to use the computer. She still checks to make sure I am not giving out to much private information in posts.
-
I didn't use all caps, I bolded, so that hopefully people would see, but on later reading it came across more like yelling, so I felt bad.
Sorry again, especially Vicki.

I think idol is like an election...there are constituencies and somtimes if there are too many similar contestants, it hurts them. ?
(Think the three divas, still can not believe Jennifer Hudson was out so early.)
Country is a very specific fan base, so I do think Scotty could go far, though maybe not win. Lauren is literally "a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll."
If Karen had been as good as she was in week one, I think the bi-lingual, Jlo/Selena vibe might have worked for her, but she just was not good for two weeks in a row.
I really like Jacob, but I am not sure if he is a bit old fashioned for the AI crowd.
Though I did not like him last week, I still think Casey is very talented, but I wonder if he will catch on with the teeny-boppers enough.
-
I use bold letters when I'm writing something important. I never knew it was yelling.
-
I have not seen it yet.. Was it good? job
-
And who are you rystofersmith????
Yes Im yelling at you with my bold letters..............
-
seyla, it isn't yelling to bold, it was just me and my reaction to my post and I wanted to apologize if someone else took it as yelling or being rude or something.
All caps are really good for yelling, and I have been known to use them, but not at anyone here
-
LOL Nature
-
Nature- I was not offended at all and I doubt anyone else was either, but I know what you mean. It is hard sometimes when writing to get your point across. I worry sometimes that I could be taken wrong too, but hopefully know one takes anything too serious. We are only talking about AI afterall.
-
Sheila, I thought I'd point out that you typed "bald" letters instead of "bold" letters! LOL
Sherrill -
Thanks Sherrill
-
tougherthanithought- I didn't notice "bald" but Sheila....that's a definite Freudian slip for you. LOL
-
We're a crazy but fun bunch.
-
Teka...That's the whole point.
We all need little craziness that's called normal. LOL
We get along just fine
-
-
Sheila and Teka thanks for welcoming me! I so love, love, love American Idol!! and Cookiegal isn'tit sad... I know who Lefty Frizzle is! LOL!!
As for what the contestants choose to sing there are lists with approved songs in each jonre' of music. The songs have to be released or they have to get approval from the owner/writer/producer of the song in order for the contestant to perform it. I know that sounds a bit over the top but the reason is that most of the songs that each contestant performs on Idol are recorded by them and then sold either for downloading purposes on the internet or I-phones and some are eventually recorded to a CD. Does that make sense? Hope so... O.k. now for the waiting till Weds night. I am going to look and see if I can get some spoilers as to whom is singing what Motown song for "us".
If I find out anything I'll post.

Welcomel board .. the American Idol, fun bus!
James has asberger's etc.. okay, I stand corrected. By just looking at Casey, one would think there is some peculiar about him --
Why does Scotty have so many followers .. is it his tender age of 17?, The all American boy thing? or is it the Country twang? I don't get it. Then again, I am NOT a country fan. His smile is contagious and charm is overwhelming. I need to be kind, as he promised his Mom that he would try out for AI, if she beat breast cancer =- or that is the story, I've recall (maybe, I am wrong - still fighting the chemo brain fog) .. Will I ever get better??? Just not my cup of tea.
I want to see the contestants cry .. stammer, and look for their mom's in the crowds tomorrow night. Wait a minute, Simon isn't a judge any longer .. Darn it!
I hope the judges, grow a pair or two... and I hope the girls step up to the plate ... Yikes!
Hoping for a better show, tomorrow night.

VickiSam- That was another country guy that's mom had BC. I was rooting for him, but he didn't make it through.
Jennifer Hudson was on the View today and they asked her what she thought about the new judges and she said that Simon was tough, but that is how record execs. act in the real world. She said they need someone to give them criticism to get better. She said she appreciates the critiques.
-
hopeful...Are you talking about the guy with the hat and was called John Wayne?
-
yep he was the one
-
Yes. "John Wayne" was the guy. I thought he seemed really nice, he was good looking and he sang well, so I am not sure why he didn't make it.
-
Excited about tonight... I can't wait! Motown here we come!!!!! I know Lauren Alaina and James Durbin can bring, also keeping my fingers crossed for Scotty and Paul! Those are my favs. Time for Thia to go I think.... she shows no spirit to blank.
Hopeful, I liked John Wayne too! not sure why they sent him home. Kinda like them putting that awful Ashton through and not Lauren Turner who could sing her pants off. Oh well! go figure???
-
Color me confused, still recovering from chemo brain.. LOL
Almost forgot about Paul .. I know he can honor Motown in a ballad, however, he must stand perfectly still in order for me to enjoy his song... sorry, his jerky motions get me dizzy ---
I am curious what Pia and Thia will be singing tonight.

I've had some fun (and a trip down memory lane) looking at lists of Motown songs... here's a good one: top 100 Motown. If you click on the name of a song, in many cases it takes you to some old video clips of the songs being sung. Ah, the 60's! Some really great songs on the lists -- now if the singers only come through with them.
I agree about Paul, I like his uniqueness but it's time for him to slow down (dance-wise, that is). But many of these songs are so upbeat, I'm guessing he'll be reeling all over the stage if he selects one of the peppy ones! I'd like to see him do something like "The Tracks of my Tears."
I can see Scotty doing a good job with something like "I Need Your Loving," slowing it down and putting his country spin on it -- and there are lots of great choices for everyone but I sure can't figure out what Pia might do.
Renee, thanks for explaining about the song lists -- I kinda sorta knew that but had forgotten about the song release requirement. I know some musicians are refusing to let "Glee" use their songs and I'm sure the same is true of AI.
I'm ready for tonight. Just hope it isn't a disappointment!
-
ps Hopeful, good comment from Jennifer (I remember Simon chastising her about her weight, ouch, that must have hurt so much!!) -- they need to get the critiques now as training for the real world, or they're going to be in for a very rude shock. Plus, come on, they ALL need to hear something more than how wonderful they are!
-
mimi1964- which one was Lauren Turner? Is that the girl that had the disabled daughter? I thought she was pretty and sang great. I am not sure I remember Ashton either. I will have to google it and find out. I am obsessed with AI too. I can't wait til tonight.
Nature- you are right that would be a good song for Scotty. And, you are right about Jennifer. I know it would be hard if someone were telling me about my weight, even if it's deserved. She looks great though. And, she had some pipes on her.
-
Yes, ladies, i, too am getting tired of the ass-kissing by the judges! Let's see some real critique! Motown theme should be interesting, though. Can't wait to watch tonight!
