Anyone watching Season 10 of American Idol?

What is the name of the 'Red Hair Guy' ? I didn't think he was all that good, just me.
Adored and enjoyed -- Casey, Jacob Lusk, and Scott McDonald - nailed it, last night ... Blown away by the rock and roller ... Mohaw guy .. name ?? /??? I think his name is James .. I had chills down my spine .. during his performance (yes, a hard core - rock fan).
Enjoyed last night's performance .. a few I thought sounded off key, but the judges said ...wow, great vocals .. Perhaps, I was watching a difference show. LOL sounds, vocals better in person while the contests are there in person.. hahaha . then again, I am not sitting at the judges table ... wish, I were.

There are so many good ones! No telling how America will vote. Remember the gray haired guy that won?
-
If my chemo brain serves me ... Taylor Hicks is his name.

I LOVE Scotty!! I hope he goes far in this competition but I guess that will all depend on the genre they choose for each week from here on out. The last guy - oh boy.....in a way he is so sexy!
-
Casey ... he is multi talented ...! Rooting for him ....!

Hi ladies... coming in late here.
.. I've been watching all season and was excited for last night. Maybe a little *too* excited since I felt a little let down
...I thought most were pretty mediocre and had very little stage presence (makes me miss Adam Lambert!
..... BUT ... I only watched the first hour... had to go to bed and taped the show. Sounds like most of my favs performed in the last part of the show! Can't wait to watch it when I get home from work!
I was rooting for the red, curly haired guy but his permformance was quite off last night I thought.

Seyla! I could just kiss you for showing me that video!!! It was so beautiful seeing the WHOLE ending! Even though it was years ago, my eyes started tearing up like it had just happened! That was my favorite season, too. Both Davids were good, but I just loved David Cook. He blew me away each week with his amazing interpretation of a song - just so talented! I remember being sad every week when someone was kicked off because I really liked them all - Jason Castro, Brooke, Carly, Michael Johns (he was sexy, too!). It was an amazing year...
VickySam - I'm a rock fan, too and that guy - James Durbin, I think - really, really blew the roof off with that song. He has Asperger's, and he's one of my favorites because he seems so sensitive. You can just see in his face how he internalizes the judges' critiques. He seems sweet and shy. I thought the redhead, Brett, did not do well at all with the Doors' song. It was dull, but like you said the judges must have heard something different because they were wowed by it!
I can't help but laugh at myself - here I am not a country music fan at all, but Scotty is one of my favorites! Like the judges keep saying, he's got the old country sound to him - not the country rock - and I think that's what I like about him. It's rare to see that these days, and it's hard to believe he's only 17! He'll have a hard time with the "poppier" artists he'll have to do, but hopefully he's got a big fan base.
Jacob has an amazing voice.
Can't wait to see how the girls do. Hard to believe soooo many will be leaving tomorrow night!
-
heartandsoul......I read your post and Im still LOL about << I could just kiss you for showing me that video>>. I really get it.
Im glad You were happy. I also get tears when I see David Cook he is so real so sincere.
I cant wait until tonight
Hugs
Hi Ladies

I live in the west coast and I wasn't able to dial through to vote this time? Did anyone else have that problem? It must be their phone glitch again!
-
I am hoping the 'girls' blow the roof off, tonight.!!! Need to finish a few things, dinner, wash etc.. then I can watched my Tivo'd American Idol. I hate hate all the commercials. Speaking of commercials has anyone else notice .. J LO turning up on several advertisements . Venus shaver, and I forget the other .. then J Lo will debate a new single on the American Idol stage ? did I hear that correctly? I very rarely watch live TV ..

My daughter and me like Lauren Alaina.
-
Awwww I love Steven Tyler too. His facial expressions absolutely crack me up. I am sooooo mad though. Why in the heck are they voting 10 people off tomorrow? I am seriously ticked off about that. The obviously forgot to get my permission before making that decision.
The guy who did the Rod Stewart song last night is totally yummy. He has great hair and teeth. Honestly, I could have lived without seeing him with pink roses on his suit though.
Catch you all tomorrow right after the show!
Susan
-
teka...Pia is my favorite and Lauren Alaina.
I voted for both of them.
-
Really, 10 being voted off tomorrow?
-
They are voting off 14,
-
LAUREN AND PAI here too girls...... LOVE SEASON 10 ~
-
How are they going to vote 14 off tonight? Think of all the tears.
-
I get it .. voting off 14 ... so the judges have 'their' reserve picks to add back into the line up. Pia blew my mind .. and the 15 year old .. pure vocals -- so poised, and matured. At 15 years of age, I was still smoking cig's in the school parking lot, hanging with bad boys -- forging my mom's signature so I could miss several classes .. and go out to Hollywood with friends. Sorry .. TMI about my mis-guided, wild spent, youth.

I thought the guys did a better job, overall, than the ladies...
My favorites so far were Jacob Lusk, Casey Abrams and James Durbin (can't quite decide between a few for the last 2 spots) for the guys and Pia Toscano, Lauren Alaina (hmm.. just noticed there's 2 Laurens), Thia Megia, Haley Reinhart and Ashton Jones for the girls.
Yep.... It's going to be a SEA of tears tonight!
Does anyone know how many "wild card" picks the judges will have to add to the 10 that America chooses? I have not seen that anywhere.
-
Vicki Sam, your youth made me smile, misguided or not. I saved my misguided behavior for my 20's -- REALLY no excuse by the time you reach that age!
I thought many of the girls' performances were good, they're a very poised group and obviously have the vocal chops, but I really wasn't blown away by any of them the way I was by some of the guys. A few of them jumped to the top for me but only a few. That may have just been my mood for the evening but I had a hard time picking my top 6.
I noticed there's a different trend this year, and it may be a reflection of the different judges and how they chose, but I hear very little attempted emulation of current "stars" and a bit more throw-backs to older styles of music, with their own twists, which I kind of like. It was just a bit weird to see how many of them were singing earthy, bluesy songs last night, something I haven't seen a lot of lately.
My understanding (could be wrong) is that the public votes will go to pick the top 5 boys and top 5 girls, and the judges will add one of each, for the 12 for the final group. Yes, there's going to be a lot of sadness tonight for all those dashed dreams! It'll be hard for them to get so far and be eliminated, but that's the nature of competition, I guess.
A note about the guys: I really like Scotty and think he has an incredible voice, but I feel like he's a one-note guy... it'll be interesting to see if he can do anything but country well. Don't get me wrong, I think he's fantastic for country, and I'm guessing he'll have a great career in that, but for this show I'd like to see more versatility.
OK, spending way too much time thinking about AI!! It's been a fun diversion this year, though.
-
NatureGrrl ~ I agree about Scottie, we (me and family) like him a lot but he sure is a one note guy and that he may not have the staying power. I don't doubt that someone in the recording industry is already eyeing on him.
SeasideMemories ~ I echo you, I also like James Durbin, Jacob Lusk and Casy Abrams, Paul McDonald and Brett L.
Although there are a few good female singers, I think the guys may win again this year
-
Vicki - LMAO - You just described me at that same age!
Love Thia and Pia and hope those two remain. Still have a thing for Scotty and his low country voice!
Why are we going to just a top 12 this year starting off? I don't remember starting any other season with only 12. For some reason I thought they would pick 10 girls and 10 guys and drop off 4 but then I heard the judges talk about the top 5. I was so confused!
What did AI do last year as far as the number of girls and boys? Do you think they can't get the airtime to continue with Girls one night, boys one night and then a voted off show the last night?
-
Ryan said 3 months of AI, which should get me through winter and outdoor spring clean-up.
-
The guys AND the girls were amazing. It will be interesting to see what happens tonight because there is SO much talent this year. DH and I both agree that the new judges make a huge, positive difference in the show. They are encouraging and kind -- and not so bad to look at either! Don't have a clue who will make it tonight, but my guess is that Jacob, Casey, Stephano, Lauren, Pia and Thia will all be part of the top 10. Hope I don't have to eat my words!
-
The boys definitely stood out over the girls, I too was struck by the type of song the contestants choose to sing. Last year it was all current music, this year more serious music. Bonnie K, I think all your picks will be in there, would be shocked if they weren't. My DD and D grand children will have pizza and AI at 8:00. Love the panel of judges, did not think I would, love to watch them listen to the music. I hope they have a night where Steven T. sings
-
Boys definitely outshone the girls. Most of the girls to me were forgettable. I liked the one who sang part of her song in Spanish. And I liked the one who went last - Pia, I think.
But for the boys, I can't imagine getting down to 5 or 6. There were so many good ones.
Tonight will be interesting.
Yes, I hope they have a night when Steven T sings - I never thought of it, but it is a great idea.
I've been enjoying these judges a lot more than previous seasons, which is a surprise to me. I think Jennifer really adds a unique perspective. When Ryan said "three months," we did sort of groan. It is kind of an ordeal having all this TV to stay caught up on!
-
Seyla - it's hard NOT to cry when you see that, isn't it? That season was outstanding, full of genuinely nice people and so many tender moments. It really hasn't happened since.
Amy - I echo that groan! I don't have time to watch this much TV, I just don't usually do it. But we make time for this because it's actually fun!
This is what my son told me - 10 contestants will be picked tonight to be in the finals. THEN next Wednesday, the remaining 14 will perform again vying for the final 2 spots, which the judges pick. POSSIBLY there will be a 13th spot chosen by the audience, and then 2 instead of 1 will be eliminated the following week. I would like this much better since it's really hard to see how good a contestant is based on this ONE performance. It would be horrible for those 14 to be discarded when we've seen them do better...Who knows if this is what they'll do or not. There have been a lot of different versions going around and I guess that's what AI wants - to keep us guessing and interested. Yes, their evil marketing plan is working on me!
I hope Steven T. performs sometime this year, too. Tonight we see J-Lo perform, or just a video? One thing's for sure, it's not so predictable this year!
I agree, whatever happens to Scotty he's already caught the eye of some big producer somewhere. I just can't imagine him singing someone like Diana Ross - LOL!
-
Looks like tonight is the debut of J Lo's new song on AI. Maybe they will have Steven perform at some point!! That would be great!!
For those of you recording... I think tonight is 2 hours (8-10 on the east coast).... Extra 1/2 hour tonight!
-
2 hours tonight?!! Thank goodness for DVR!!
-
Vicki & Susan - I DVR the show, too. I have never seen so many commercials on a show like AI has! I can cut my viewing time from 2 hours to about 1 hour 20 minutes. We just rent our DVR from the cable company at a whopping $18.95/mo but it is sooooo worth it to me. It has spoiled me!
