Fellow "deletees"

Do the moderators have a way of identifying those abusing the boards?
-
Marie .. yes. Melissa can most definitely see who is hitting the delete button. And if it's a repeat offender, she can put them on restriction or ban them from this site.

Yes. The mods can see who pushed the "Report this Post" button. Several members have a number of "sock puppet" identities just for this purpose. I am aware of one who has at least 8. If the mods ban one, they can always use another one. I'm sure they seldom press the "Report This Post" button using the nick they use to post. It is all very clear and truly revolting.

Kudos to you, realamerican - I had only managed to count five - lol!

Petition:
Bring back Konakat
Bring back Enjoyful
Bring back Eff
Reinstate their posts and ban those uncompassionate, bigoted people who deleted their non-hateful, non-rulebreaking posts.
-
Lewing was deleted too!
-
Yes - how could I forget. Now there is a repeat victim.
-
It's PAST TIME to call the deleters out and make them accountable for their actions. They get a free pass here while others get banned? I am sick of hearing this over and over again.
What's it going to take to get the deleters outed??
Cowards.
Melissa, I always have your back. It's time to be a hero now.
-
Melissa - in case you're thinking of deleting the thread - that just means that they won. You'll be rewarding those who abuse the system. I'm with Anne - be a hero.

Melissa, I'm stepping up with my sisters to complain LOUDLY about the abuse of the "Report this post" function. This abuse is nothing new. Some BCO members have been complaining about it for years. We know you can identify the people who are reporting posts, and you've assured us you will take action if it appears posts are being reported -- and deleted -- without justification. Yet, it continues.
Please, can't we figure out a way to resolve this? When we have people like konakat (and others) banned from the boards, or even just put on restriction, it means (to me) that the system is broken. Whatever we are gaining by being able to stop SPAM automatically is resulting in serious loss at the hands of bullies.
The people abusing the "Report this post" function are doing so with impunity, because they've figured out how to game the login process through multiple usernames. We know this. Some BCO members can even cite the multiple names under which a given member operates. But, of course, that member can easily register under yet another name when the first batch is threatened.
I'm afraid we're losing the civility that makes these boards so valuable. What we are seeling is bullying, plain and simple. How do we stop it?

Melissa, you might be persuaded by some that we who want changes made to the Report this post function are merely whiners! Be assured, however, that we are merely the spokespeople for the many, many posters and readers who want this bullying activity to stop. You know how it CAN be done. I agree -- Be the Hero!
Thanking you in advance,
Linda

Melissa, I have to agree with the ladies above. I may not be as active a poster on these boards as some are but it is a huge embarrassment to these boards to see the bullying and stalking that goes on. This is unacceptable and needs to stop. Please listen to what is being said and make the changes that are needed before more women are driven off this board that really need the support.

I would have written last night, but my comp crashed. Melissa, please reinstate the deleted posts. No one broke any bco rules. Please do something to punish those who unfairly delete posts.

I PM'ed the mods.

We have seen bigotry, cyberterrorism and bullying last night. The victims were all individuals with respectful posts who violated no rules.

Melissa
I respectfully ask that the cahnges that were to be made at the end of Febrary, the beginning of March,to the discussion board to handle thsi problem be implemented as soon as possible
-
Melissa,
It might be useful for you to know that I lurked for the better part of a year before registering and posting. The reason I held off so long was because I saw the censoring that was going on here. When posts that don't break the rules are deleted and not reinstated that says as much about the site as it does about those doing the deleting.
I respectfully request that the posts are reinstated, the deleted posters are given full rights and not restricted and that those doing the deleting have their user IDs revealed and have to answer to the community.
Thank you.
-
Hi Melissa .. sure hope you can get this straightened out this morning .. and reinstate Lewing, Enjoyful, KonaKat and Efflorescing. None of their posts broke the rules on BCO.
Thank you,
Bren

Melissa, I dont participate on that thread, but it is beyond acceptable for someone to delete someone like KonaKat ( I am aware of who she is). I cant imagine anyone reporting her posts for any other reason then they disagreed.
Is there a way of putting a conditional restriction on those who abuse the "report" button? Or perhaps removing that privlegde from their account?

And it's not even the weekend.

It's unbelievable that over 3 years ago since the Report This Post function was first implemented and immediately abused by the "community" that this is still happening!
Funny how the rules state that if one reports a post inappropriately that the reporter of the post will be penalized, and yet they never seem to be. It's been over 2 years since the moderators have been able to see who it is that reports posts. Perhaps it's time they share with the real community who has been abusing this feature and finally implement the feature that has been promised that would reveal the member ID of the reporter. It's only fair that the entire community know who, in their name, is removing a post! Otherwise it's ridiculous to even use the word "community". I suggest when a post is removed, the removed post then show the five members ID name.
Over a year ago the moderators promised to bring back the Who Is Online feature after many members requested it. Perhaps if it could be seen who is online when the "community" goes on a delete spree, it may deter some of that behavior. At least until the mods implement the best deterrent which is having to be identified when one reports a post.
I remember a poster suggesting that there be a RESTORE This Post feature so that the "community" could reinstate posts that do not violate the BCO rules of conduct. I'm intrigued by this idea, as long as it could not be abused by true spammers. After all, if the community is policing this board and able to remove posts, they should also be able to reinstate posts.
Finally, it should be noted that although moderators can reinstate members and posts that haven't violated the rules, the software itself does not keep up with the fact that the banned member never should have been banned in the first place. Eventually, even though the member was innocent, they will be permanently banned after the software counts the final strike against them. There needs to be a way that the software recognizes when a post and member have been reinstated and remove the strike from the automatic tally of the software program.

I love the idea of a RESTORE This Post feature. And I agree that the moderators and administrators need to override the software banning that ensues from pernicious deletions.

Melissa:
I was put on "restriction" three weeks ago and I DID NOT break the rules - it was another one of those "massive sweeps" that the mods seem to be so fond of - now I rarely post because frankly it has hurt my feelings but wanna make me really mad - deleting Konakat, Enjoyful, Lewing, etc. these are good people going through rough times they WOULD NEVER abuse their privileges on this site and I think it's about time you got brave and did something about the deleters - you promised weeks ago that something would be done - when are you planning to handle this?????

What they all said above ... right on everybody.
I was glad I got to read the posts before they got hit by the thought police. It was an interesting conversation.
Hopefully Melissa will reinstate all the deleted posts ... make sure all restrictions are removed from the victims ... and show the member names of who reported each post. We have already been told that this feature would start the end of February or early March so nobody can say they were not warned that it could happen.
Could we restrict the use of the Report this Post button to members with say over 100 or 200 posts? That would stop the creation of sock puppets just to delete. I suspect that BCO might have gained 5 new 'members' last night.
Waving to Eff, Konakat, enjoyful and lewing ... hope you will all be back and posting again soonest. Wear your tshirts proudly! I guess you made some good points ... no other reason I can see why some were so afraid of your comments that they had to remove them.
-
We should have banners saying:
"Restore posts; don't delete threads"
the other one could be:
"Ban illegal reporters"
or:
"If you complain, explain."
-
Wow, there is so much hypocrisy on here. I was bullyed and threatened on the People say yes, People say no thread, Ask BlueDahlia about that!!!!! This time I want to say it, to all you anti-Christian, anti-Americans:::"Beat it."""" Right back at you BlueDahlia, do you still want to eat me for breakfast and spit me out???? BAN ME, I welcome it. God bless you all!!!!!
-
Kathy .. .nobody is going to ban you for speaking your mind. I thought we got that all straightened out awhile back.
Hope you doing well.
