I have a stupid question.
Where the measuring cup says 1 cup=8oz ....
Does it mean Im drinking 8 oz of water? or fluids are measured differently?
-
1 cup = 8 oz wet or dry
It's pretty cool because when you look at it that way 32 oz is not so intimidating
-
Hi Michelle. Thanks.
I always drank more than 32 oz.
Its not really that much of a big amount.
(((HUGS)))
-
hey Sheila, I took my favorite drinking glass and measured how much water it held (16 oz). So I make sure I drink at least two of those a day. :-)

HAPPY MONDAY, Birdies!!!!!
Welcome, Ronna!!!! We're so glad to have you. We're all just barely figuring out our contest and our points...... what we know is that we've gathered up a group up gals who are committed to making better decisions regarding their health and specifically surrounding issues of eating & healthy choices there.
Our fearless leader is catching her breath after a couple of wild weeks of activity here, but I know she'll be around shortly and get you onto a team.
By my calculations it would appear that the ROADRUNNERS won last week's contest and I offer up a trophy for their team spirit and can-do-without attitude!!
Here's the trophy at my house, for my own personal victory:
[Yes, I am a little loonie when it comes to black & white and I truly go over the moon when it comes to polka dots!!!! These have a place of honor.]
-
Love Love LOVE the towels, Faithy! What a nice treat to yourself. I, too, am a sucker for black and white. Even my dog and cat are both b/w. Enjoy!
-
I don't know what team won the most points this last week, but I personally got a huge boost from the accountability and keeping track! I love it, and I win no matter what team wins! Yeah US!
-
zogo, I just noticed that you are in Milwaukee!!! We have a summer place up in Door Co and are always driving back and forth through your fair city...... as I type our youngest daughter is having an official audition for your city's orchestra -- that would be the dream of a lifetime for her.
Also, as I type one of my husband's dearest friends, from WI is winging his way here for the rest of the week for guys golf gusto. He flew outta Milwaukee airport this morning.
Next summer you're officially invited up to join us in Sister Bay and we'll walk to see Al's goats-on-the-roof, about a block from our little get-away, and the tourist attraction of the village.
-
Al Johnson's is an amazing Scandanavian restaurant, with fresh ligonberry jam. We wouldn't have to 'eat' there, we could just go shopping in their amazing gift shop! LOL
-
I want to have lunch at Al's! Might he serve potato dumplings--or kumla as they were called in the area Grandpa came from?
-
Faith,
Glad your hubby's friend got out this morning, we are getting heavy snow right now! That is so exciting about your daughter's audition with MSO. It is a fabulous organization. I know a woman who retired last year from the violin section. What instrument does she play?
We went to Al Johnson's when our kids were quite small. I have a pic of them (in little blue and white sailor outfits) in front of the restaurant with the goats on the roof in the background. Seems like forever ago! I found my favorite kind of clogs (Bastaad brand) there and bought a pair in red. Mmmm I can taste the crepes now
or is that not on the diet?
So glad to make another connection from this fabulous website!
-
Chabba. You're invivted. You would love it.
All the wait-staff wear the traditional garb.
Is it called drindle?
Several are VERY blonde and have their hair in amazing braids.
There's quite a festival for the first day of summer. Big bon fires and dancing.
FYR BAL 2009 photos........ we were out of town this past summer.

OK - I'll take the plunge - you guys are having so-o-o much fun and being so-o-o motivating! I'm in a private weight loss group, and go to Curves - but am "stuck" with the yo-yo plan - (up 2, down 3, up 1.5, down 1, up....)! Not convinced that there's not a thyroid issue, but my doctor doesn't believe me.....
I love your point system and teamwork. Seems motivating to "see" exactly what the success has been for the week. So, starting weight is 200# (
) and my goal is 175.
Everyone have a successful, healthy week!

Beautiful towels Faithy. Coming on today makes me thirsty so going to get hydrated.
-
Welcome 2hands. This group is very inspirational and seeing progress, maintenance or lack of progress in writing is very helpful for a lot of people. Our leader Meece will assign you to a team.
-
Oh Faith,
The face on that littlest girl in the first picture is the face of an angel!! What a beautiful little girl!
-
Faith....Towels are really beautiful and happy.
I had a salad Tomato. Avocado, chick peas, red onion with a small wheat pita bread while the salmon and the brussel sprouts are still cooking.
Welcome 2Hands...no reason to cry we are all here to support healthy eating, exercise and whatever else...

Today had homemade chicken soup, fruit salad and a whole pear. Getting ready to have a couple slices tilapia. Will snack on homemade mixture of nuts, dried fruit, raisins and cranberries. Finishing up my 32 ozs of water. Good day - one day at a time! (cause Saturday was a wipeout and Sunday not much batter!)
-
Faithie, the towels remind me of my sweater I wore to work today...
I love it, it has big white dots on a black background.
Took a bag to work today full of fresh lettuce, carrots and LF dressings so I can fix it there. Also had hummus and sweet potato chips. The chips are new out at the Fresh Market, cal not bad and they didn't have anything I couldn't read in them. Made a meatloaf yesterday so will be eating on that for a couple of days. Also made the asparagus grilled in the "forman".
Sat I went to a friends to watch a movie and she had just baked cookies.... UGH. I ate two but she ate ??? how many. Yes, they were chocolate chip. Oh, what a weakness!
Went to the gym on Sat & Sunday and tried the machine that works the inner and outer thigh's. Could barely walk today without noticing.....

Hi Ladies, once again a very busy thread! Miss a few days and you are out of mix of things. I have a lot going on personally right now. It seems it never ends. My hubby went to see his cardiologist on Friday and he is going to be having surgery either this week of next. They actually called today and want him to go in Weds or Thurs this week. He has Carotid Artery blockage of a 100% in his right side, so we are waiting to see which day or week. I also have a doctors appt tomorrow. I haven't had much access to the computer the last week. This is the first chance I've actually had to get on.
Meece I didn't lose any weight this week, but I did drink my water 32 oz every day and I am not walking on the treadmill yet, still no release from the doctor. I hope to get that tomorrow.
Please keep DH in your prayers. This is serious if he doesn't have the surgery soon he could have a stroke.
Stress does nothing to help with weight loss. Arrggrrr
-
HUGS to you Mimi. And thoughts are with your husband.
-
Sending prayers your way Mimi
-
Prayers for your DH, and you, Mimi.
I may have pneumonia, so my exercise will be nil this week. I find out tomorrow. But I'm drinking my water/gatorade in plenty. And my food intake has been way down, with the only bad stuff some salty chips and a popsicle. I was down 4 lbs in the dr's office, but since I was dressed very differently and weighing on a different scale, I'll wait until I can try it on Friday.
There are definitely times that it is harder to concentrate on losing weight than others.
Elaine

Adding more prayers for you Mimi..... you guys have really been put through the wringer. Hopefully this will be the end and everything will turn around.

WELCOME 2Hands!!!! I'm sure Meecie will get you new comers assigned just as soon as she gets back here.

Okay I did it (Meant transferring a picture here. I don't know how) This is the picture of the cashews I threw in the garbage and got extra point. It wasn't easy
-
(((Mimi))) - prayers for DH and for your healing
2Hands - welcome!
I signed up for my local communities "looken good" weight loss program and had my first weigh in tonight. Four months, 350 participants and $3,000 to the person who lose's the highest percentage of weight. Of course I don't have a snow balls chance of winning but it is yet another motivator and level of accountability. It helps that there are healthy cooking classes, personal weight loss programs and fitness classes. Extra credit???
Lunch today: baby spring and herb mix salad w/cherry tomato's w/ 2 tblsp ranch, snap green beans, pickled beets, hummus and couple oz of sharp cheddar.1/2 cup blue berries for desert. Still working on portion control but definitely eating healthier.
Have a good night all!

(((Shelia))) it's nuts what we will do to lose weight...
