The fitness tread continues, congrats don23!

I'm checking in, I'm down 4 tenths of a pound to 187.8, and put in 300 minutes of exercise with at least 30 minutes every day and met that water goal on 5 days. I didn't eat even one cookie or piece of candy this week, all of my snacks were healthy fruit or high protein "real food".
Next week the new college semester starts, we are adding another young adult (my niece) to the household, and I will be back into chauffering duties and eating on the run, so I doubt that the snacks will stay as healthy, but I'll try.
weight is down - 2 points
exercise - 7 or 10 points depending on how you count it (by minutes or by days)
water - 5 points
checking in - 1 point
healthy snacks with no cheating - 1 point
That's at least 16 points for the Roadrunners!
-
Way to go don23!!!!
Hummingbirds Rocks!

Well ladies, I have been quite the slacker. I have not been nearly as motivated as I used to be! I started chemo on November 3 and I have gained 13 pounds whether from chemo or from the holidays. I am trying to get my motivation going though as I am sending off to get information about DIEP surgery after my treatment ends. If I am going to have a tummy tuck I want to look good when it's over. Having said all of that I stepped on the scale at 173 this morning. OUCH!!! My goal is to reach 145 by about November when I hope to have surgery.
My goal for this week - start walking 15 minutes per day, kick the sodas out of the house and replace them with water only. Baby steps!
Congratulations to all of you who have started and are making progress already!
Susan

Monday my weight was up 2 lbs. Normally by Friday it would be down at least 2, more likely 4 lbs. This week I've kept them--so far.
exercise, 2 hours.
Fruits and veggies, at least 3 servings every day.
-
Congrats to all BIRDIES checking in!!!!
We're working to change behavior on here & having a group to be accountable to is the very first step!!! Yipppppeee!!!!

Checking in....
I didn't join you all until Sunday, so my numbers are from Monday-Thurs.
Weight this morning 166.0, down 1 lb!! I haven't been able to say that in months!!
I did 3 days of 45 minutes each on the treadmill plus shoveling snow for 1 hour for a total of 195 minutes.
Met or exceeded 32 oz of water per day.
Met my personal goal to get more veggies into my diet by eating a large salad or big plate of cooked vegetables before I ate my dinner every night. As a big plus it really helped my portion control!
Soooo....
Checking in - 1 point
Weight Down - 2 points
Exercise - 6.5 points
Water - 4 points (Mon-Thurs)
Eating at least 4 servings of veggies per day - 1 pt
Total 14.5 points for the Cranes!!
-
No change in weight for me, but for those of you who have been with us for the past nine months know that my plumbing doesn't cooperate with Friday weigh ins. Maybe tonight? If I am lucky.
-
I feel for you Meece, good luck!
Welcome Badger, I'm so glad to have you join our team. Very good Seaside - I'm so proud of you for adding 14.5 points to our team.
Elimar, I do a treadmill and then walk in the halls at work during the winter. It's so hard for those of us in colder climates to get the walking in during the winter months.
I've been a tad under the weather this week so didn't get much exercise in. I lost 1/2 pound so that's 2 points, drank all my water requirement everyday so that's 7 points, friday check in was 1 point, only got 2 hours of exercise in so that's 2 points and then 1 point for decreasing my daily glass of wine to just a glass on weekend evenings. That was a hard habit to break! So my total is 13 points.
I'll give the Cranes summary to you tomorrow Meece - I have all my birdies on an excel spread sheet for our team! Good work Cranes.
-
I have a little thing I noticed when I drank my first 12 oz. this morning. an ouce of water weighs just about an ouce. Guess I should have weighed before I drank that much!
-
suzwes,
That wine thing is my downfall. Working on that one!
If you did 2 hours of exercise, then you earned 4 points not, 2!
We Cranes need all the points we can get...lol.

I've decided to report to my leader this afternoon at 3:00 that gives me about 2 hours and 45 minutes to "work that weight off". I have been exercising every day this week and feel better for it.
Today, i am craving spaghetti. Any ideas how to make that one healthy for a dinner?
-
I don't remember what my start weight was. Let's say it was 152. Today I am 151.4 lbs.
My exercise this week was:
Mon: 1 and 1/2 hours of Yoga
Tues: 1 hour step class
Wed: 1 hour Yoga and .5 mile walk
Thurs: Zumba on WiiFit for 30 min.
Water: Does water in tea count?? 32oz if it does.
Checking in - 1 point?
-
Meece, if it is mostly the flavor you crave try using spaghetti squash instead of pasta. One of the other cooks tried that at the senior center when we got a donation of the squash lasr year. It was a big hit.
-
I LOVE spaghetti squash in lue of pasta, especially with a home made sauce
-
Meece,
Not sure what kind of ingredients you like but, one I make all the time is
Beans and Greens
1 head escarole, washed and chopped
1 - 2 cans small white beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup or so chopped onion
2 - 3 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
Small amount olive oil
Reduced sodium chicken stock (I use the stock in a box)
Optional: 2 links of sausage, parboiled about 20 minutes and sliced thin
-------------------------------
Saute the onion in a small amount of olive oil until, translucent. Gradually add the escarole, as much as your pan can hold. Cover the pan and let the escarole wilt, stirring occasionally. You may need to add some water or chicken stock so it doesn't burn. Repeat until the escarole has all been added. Stir in the garlic.
Add the beans, sausage slices and as much chicken stock as you need to get the consistency you want. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes or so. Season with salt and pepper.
Serve over pasta of your choice with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.
Enjoy!
Even if you omit the sausage, it's really good. What I really like about it is, if you have any leftover, you can add more stock and you have a nice bowl of soup for lunch the next day!
Edited to add: If you don't like escarole, I don't see why spinach could not be substituted.

Weight: 150.2 = loss of .8 =2 pts. (weighed 149.2. Tues-Thur -isn't that the way it goes?-no cooperation for Fri !)
Excercise: 9.5 pts
Ck in: 1 pt
Water: 64 + ozs ea day= 7 pts
Extra: I passed by the cheese crackers & Cinnamon Ritz (I can inhale them without taking a breath!) at the store Tues (long-time birdies know how hard that was for me!) & bought broccoli, carrots & celery. = 1 pt
Total: 20.5 pts
On the run, back tonight!
Edited to change Exercise: Only did 30 mins on Monday, not 1 hour, therefore, my total is changed.
Edited again: had my total for 2.5 - should be 20.5 pts
I'm full of goofs today!!

Ainm for Roadrunners checking in 1 pt
Weight 138.22 down 0.89lb 2pt
8 hours exercise 16pts
Water Intake 0f 32 ozs exceeded everyday 7pts
Added 120 sit ups to daily exercise routine (that's 840 in the week) does this earn me at least one extra point??
Can I clarify the liquid thing please - I take it US fluid ozs are the same as Irish ones 20 ozs to a pint?? And do herbal teas etc count as part of fluid intake? I always thought I had a poor fluid intake but I drink about 30 ozs of water while I exercise most days and then about the same again throughout the day although some would be as herbal tea and in addition since mum came to live here I have a few mugs of regular tea daily too = so I guess I'm doing ok with liquid intake. Quite proud of that now actually!!!
So Seyla - My Captain - how are the Roadrunners doin' ??
Meece - Again thank you for all the work - in one of my previous posts amid my ramblings I mentioned that although I was worried that the majority of my weight loss had already been achieved I would like to loose another 10 to 12 lbs if I can stick with it - I don't know if you want to add that figure as my goal -
Looks like everyone so far has done really well - goooooo Birdies!!!!
Edited to add P.S. I just remembered I did not take a snack to bed any night this week - this is a big achievement for me because I have spent years bringing anything from a mouth full to a whole meal to bed with me - it drives my DH mad!! But I didn't do it this week so I don't know does that earn me a bonus point - I will try to keep it up this week too!!
-
Whoooohooooo more points for the hummingbirds!!!
Hummingbird team mid-day up-date:
Faithie: 138.2 25 points
Deborye: 152.0 2 pts. for losing, 1 pt. check in, 8 pts for exercise, 7 pts water, 1 pt colonoscopy -- 19 pts total (plus a million points of gratitude for her B9 results of biopsy!!!!!!!!!!!!!) **You could still earn one more point for 'extra credit' beyond your colonoscopy -- please report one other personal action taken**

My3Girls:
o2B: 178.0 11 points
Pray: 124.5 9.5 points
Valgirl: 152.0 down to 151.4 (2 points), Check-in: 1 point, Exercise: 9 points Water: not quite sure how many days you had your 32 oz. I'll put you down for 5 points, as those are the days you've reported exercise(??) ***Oh and I don't see your point for extra credit?? Still time to think of how you earned that one. Total: 17 by my best guess
[Let us know before midnight regarding the water and the extra point, in order for it to count.... that could be an additional 3 more points for our Hummingbird team! LOL Go birdies, go.]
GRAND SUB-TOTAL of HUMMINGBIRDS = 96.5
****Meecie: I just thought of one more 'point'....... when the entire team checks in during the week, the team earns a point. Whad'ja think??
-
great idea, Faithie!
-
**I should say, when the entire team checks in on Fri the team earns a point.
I guess you got my intent.
The whole way that we can help one another is by "being here" for one another. Must start that behavior first. Make it a habit, to be thinking in terms of ELAB Teamwork.
-
I knew exactly what you meant and had to go back and see what you wrote that might have implied something different.
-
