Wow!  This thread moves fast.  It is great everyone is so motivated.  Yes I will post my weight, I just wanted to have my "offical" one since I had my onco appointment today.  He said I had lost 5 lbs from my last one which is probably because of my gallbladder surgery last month.

I was at 155 lbs.  When I told him I would like to lose about 30 he looked very skeptical about it and made a comment about being on Tamox making it harder to lose weight and now that I'm 50 too.

We had baked chicken for dinner yesterday and green beans.  I know LOTS of way to fixed baked, boneless skinless chicken if anyone needs some ideas!  I can't say I was good tonight though and splurged with a piece of pizza, but stopped at that though instead of having 3.

I did take the stairs at work today. I'm pretty beat though and don't think Richard Simmons and I will meet up tonight for a workout.

Thanks for letting me join the group!Smile

If Mimi doesn't show up soon (I want her to feel better soon from her surgery), I'll be happy to have the "Needaname" gals join the Cranes!

Yes, Seyla, that should work.  Are you carrying stuff back home - that would be upper body work as well!  (But you can report that on the exercise thread)

We had our health fair at work today and now I have an official weight for you. 148. It's up 4 lb than what I was hoping so now I need to get down to 128. Does the health fair count? We had to prick our finger and they checked our cholesterol, triglycerides and BMI. BP was also good. I started losing some weight last year after I gave up sugar and most of the white flour. I also gave up coffee because the only reason to drink the stuff was the flavored creamers... they were full of calories and mostly sugar besides they weren't natural, it was all chemical stuff... ugh. Have to admit they really tasted good.

This week I went to the gym and worked out three days for a total of 3 hrs. Did the treadmill, arc trainer and weights. For the water I can only account for today so far I've had 5 glasses - 8 oz ea.

Made home made chicken soup last night to take to work. Used mostly organic... it was really good for lunch rather than eating out and having a "burger". I did have some chocolate covered almonds - my Achilles - but it was dark chocolate and it was almonds.... did limit myself.

Spent several weekends in NY (Co-Op City) cleaning out my aunt's apt and was so tickled watching people with shopping carts.  I remember them from my NYC days but here in NJ we are so spoiled - walk to get groceries, no way!

Faithie, glad you understood my 'prayer' comment.  Was afraid some would not get it.

Whew my brain is spinning (It could be the 4 oz of red wine, but it could also be a lot of posts to watch.  I am going to go print my spreadsheet so I can make notes on it, and update it in the morning.  What with people still making their Friday check in.

Maybe the team leaders can help Meece and keep track of their team's Friday report and then summarize it (like Faith did earlier this evening).  Would that make things easier Meece?

Yes, that would.  it certainly takes some time to track everyone.  But then again, today was a tough day.  I had to get everyone on the sheet and get all of the starting info and the Friday info.  It will get better, but the team leaders could certainly put everything in the summary.

I know, I have to stop.  I only can come on the boards in the evening.  So I can only report on Friday nights.

Suzette... I'm here!  Oh my gosh I tried to catch up reading all the posts but geez there were pages and pages.  You ladies have blown up E-lab lately especially on the 6th.  Wow and the Moderators want to interview us?? I can't believe all of this came out of us talking about starting a diet last year.  LOL!  Anyway I have bit the bullet and weighed in on Monday.  Meece put me down for a starting weight of 160 lbs.  My weight does fluctuate and that is a high for me right now, but I'll go with it.  Hopefully it will only go down.  My doctor hasn't given me the o.k. to start exercising after my surgery yet so I can only modify my diet some and try to eat a little healthier until I am completely healed.  I still have stitches until Jan. 18th when I go back to the plastic surgeon.  I'm having to eat lots of protein too, peanut butter, chicken, and fish.  I'm going to try and get on the boards more often.  But sometimes I can't do it everyday.  I hope the next time I get on here I don't have to read 8 pages to catch up... LOL!!! Wink

So Meece put me on a team and let's "Rock in Roll"!!!

O.k. Meece I went back a few pages and realized I am suppose to be the captain of a team... sorry I have been absent.  As I said I don't get to get on the computer everyday.  Hopefully in a few weeks I will have mine repaired.  Anyway what am I suppose to do?  Other than help motivate my team members.  It seems I missed quite a bit of information.  And I will usually post my weight on a late Friday evening and not on a Friday morning because I do have to go to work early... I am a nurse.   How does the scoring system for checking in, weigh in and exercise work, etc.

As for a team name...hmmm? What about the Robins?  (I think I saw cranes and hummingbirds, can't remember what else).

I only exercised Monday morning, I see we don't need that this week anyway. Will do better this next week.

I did drink 64 ozs of water today, weigh-in day. (have that much or more every day.)  That is usually all the liquids I drink, don't like coffee, tea, or wine. Only have soda maybe once or twice a year.  One evening this week I had a cup of cocoa=80 calories (mixed w/water, not milk-don't like milk either!) I do love my Marqaritas though!  Wink (but only have those at DD2's house)

Renee ~ Robins works for me for our name. I had thought of Larks = they walk a lot. Or, Warblers = they are very active.

Sheila - I am good!  Still having a few incision problems.  Not healing too well on the side the doc took the stitches out of this past Monday.  I have 2 small areas that the skin is superficially opened up and one I have put those steri strips on with hopes it will help it close back up since it was on the areola but the one under the breast in the T incision (which he said was ok) is not doing so great.  It will start to scab up and then break open again.  The doc said that they put lots of layers of stitches and that's why he is not worried of course it isn't his skin or scar.  LOL!  I am still pretty sore too.  Wondering how long that's gonna last?  Yell  Ready to feel better and get on the weight loss trail.  But I will encourage all of my fellow birdies while I just try to eat healthy and heal... then it's no holds barred!  We will whoop some birdie butt!!! Wink  So "Robins" let's get geared up and drink lots of water, diet drinks, exercise if you can (make sure all of this is o.k. with your doctors first ladies - I am having to wait on clearance to exercise, even to walk).  Post any good recipes you have for different salads, dressings that are low fat, low fat snacks (maybe some that those of us that work can take with us) eat fresh fruits or veggies(good clean washed ones are the best when they are cooked they lose their nutrients) and if you eat carrots do it in moderation because they are actually higher in carbohydrates.  Try to eat less bananas as they are high in carbs and convert to sugar... though I love them.  If you are in a hurry and don't have time for a great b'fast here's a tip:  one slice of 35 cal whole wheat bread with a slice of cheese toasted in the oven and 2-3 slices of turkey bacon cooked in the microwave. Great healthy way to start your morning and if you have time add one boiled egg and leave the cheese off, and add a couple slices of fresh fruit like kiwi, mango, grapefruit.  Breakfast it very important.  Have a small apple as a mid morning snack (granny smith usually works best because it's crunchy and tart)

Remember these are just some ideas that I have used in the past and I'm going to use again.  Everyone just do what they feel comfortable with.

    Hi Renee,

I'm on "Team Robin"  too, and new to this thread.  Still recovering from bmx / diep surgery in December, but ready to get in shape and lose some weight.  I went to my first Physical Therapy appt yesterday.  Do the exercises I was assigned from that count?

Your food tips are great.  I've currently got a failed skin graft and have looked up foods for that.  So, I'm trying to eat things like sweet potatoes, spinach and protein.  Hope it helps!

Mimi is right, eating protein, and foods containing vitamins C and A are good things to eat to recover your body after surgery.

Good morning gals.  Welcome back Team Captain Renee - hope you're feeling a bit better.  I was just about to chime in with Blue Jays or Cardinals, but I love ROBINS as our name.  I only did 90 minutes of exercise this week (embarrasing I suppose).  Starting slow.

BCINCOLORADO - I would love some of your chicken recipes - so much easier in the summer when I'm not too cold to grill outside.

Well Renee's Robins are bob-bob-bobbin' along now!!!

    WELCOME BACK RENEE!!!!!

I'm sending you all sorts of hope that your body recovers and in good, efficient, quick order! Are you back at work already? Please use all caution in your recovery. We'll give you points just for showing up.

The Robin-ettes have no idea what force of nature they have as their captain.

Meecie. I think that everyone should have until midnight FRI to get their weekly totals posted and then the captains can give their best shot at totals by very late Fri and revisions by Sat mornin/noon with your announcement of the weekly team winner by sometime on Sat afternoon.

Yes. This will indeed get a lot easier as we figure out the format for reporting etc etc.

THRILLING to have some brand-new-momentum on what is an entire LIFESTYLE effort.

    Hum on little hummingbirds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We can each make changes/adaptations/improvements to our choices & decisions. Information is power. Yesterday we went out to lunch for the first time since we've been down here. Eating at home is a huge calorie saver for me.

Anyhow, the menu had calories listed & it was so much easier to make an "informed" decision. I think more & more that those sorts of listings will be required/available so you can choose with wisdom.

Here's to our first full week of the contest unfurling with structure.

We still need to have more enlisted CRANES.... let's keep the door open for more folks to join in our efforts.

    xx00xx00xx00xx

Summer is coming!!! Let's put our best foot forward!!!!!

Sheila - just started Season 7 of 24 - I think we watched Seasons 1 - 6 in 4 months time.  LOVE IT!  Tried watching Hawaii Five - 0 and couldn't get into it.  I haven't watched the others but have heard they're great as well.  I am a huge TV fan.  I also watch Parenthood and The Good Wife, and a few Showtime shows.  This is why I have no time for exercise...Smile
