Meece it is not too much information as I am having the same problems with chronic constipation.  I too lose weight when I get a handle on it for more than a day.  But then it comes right back with a vengenace.  I have got to get some Miralax and see if it will help I guess that will be my last resort.  The all natural things haven't along with exercise.

As far as a colonoscopy goes the only thing wrong with us is that if you are on Tamoxifen it is dumping all the estrogen it is blocking into your "gut" and slowing down your digestive system and motility which is why many of us are having problems with constipation.

I am TN and am not on Tamoxifen.  I was regular like clockwork before BC, literally 7:30 every morning.  But since chemo, I can go 3-4 days.  Gp has me on Miralax this week.  I have the worst hemoroids I have ever had.  Surgeon refused to lance them, so I am enjoying them 24-7.  NOT!!!  He recommends Metamucil daily.  Thanks for afirming that I am not alone, Mimi.

Since we are on the subject it will be a miracle if I went twice a week.

Have no hemoroids issues just a tiny one which was developed during my pregnancy.

I eat so much fiber and fruits nothing helps.

Thank You for letting me air my s**t issues.Wink

    Have a nice Saturday.

Forgive me if I mentioned this on the E-LAB thread already, but do any of you supplement with magnesium?  I take it (because it works together with the calcium supplements I take) and a mere 250 mg. tab once or twice a day keeps me regular.  I guess it is like Milk of Magnesia, but you don't have to deal with the nasty flavor.

If you supplement with calcium, it is supposed to be in combination with magnesium in a 2:1 ratio, and take it together.  Some supplements are formulated with the two right in the same tab. already.  If you don't supplement with calcium, taking a 250 mg. tab of magnesium in the evening with help with occasional irregularity.

Maybe I will talk to my GP about that.  I have to see her for a follow up next week.  Don't ask forgiveness, Elimar, we have forty one pages of posts, if you renew some info, it is only helpful!

WhooHoo, Faithie!  Keep up the good work.

DH and I walked over 5 miles up and down the streets of San Francisco today.  My legs are sore, but I am happy we did.

Today's post: I rode 17.8 miles, but the more exciting news is that I clocked the first hour & I was able to go 12.7 miles..... so I have started a 'new' competition with myself.

Congrats on your walking the streets of SF, Meecie.

I seriously have had an EPIPHANY today..... about me. About my perspective. About my attitude. About my plans.

I'm gonna attempt to capture this 'break through' on my blog shortly.......

As it relates to the Experimental Laboratory: I am committing to eat 10% less and move 10% more every day for the next month. Let the numbers on the scale reflect what they will..... I KNOW that it will be good for me. So that's my pledge to you my Lab partners.

Hope that everyone's weekend has had some wonder. Some delight. Some excitement. Some hope. Some momentum.

    Long haul, girls. Long haul.

Meece and Faith... You go girls!!!

Elimar ... thanks for the info once again on the Magnesium.  I can't take MOM because the magnesium in it makes me swell up like a balloon.  It would be great if I could.  I can't even take correctol for similar reasons because it makes me swell.

I am noticing you all are having a lot of poop issues.... I know it is almost impossible to eat like I do but not only did I lose 50 lbs eating like this but I have at least 6 BOWL MOVEMENTS a day. I know that some of you have sent me pm's to help you but I see that more of you need me to work with you on your diet. For those that I have already spoken to, I have started by making gradual changes in your diets so that way it isnt as drastic for you.

FOOD IS FUEL!!!! Once you start thinking like that I promise you will lose weight.

I would suggest for everyone to order the book the Anti Estogenic Diet by Ori Hofmekler. Even if your cancer wasnt ER+ the estrogen is what makes you gain and retain weight. It is a true eye opener.

I just want to help you all in any way I can

Talking about poop.....Embarassed......normal for me is about three times a day. I thought I was a weirdo but glad to see that what's normal for one person would be abnormal for another. Muscle relaxers I am on are causing some problems but I've been careful with my choices and eating as much fiber as I can. Fiber One cereal was on sale last week so I've got at least three boxes of it.

    Hello ladies,

Boy did I miss a lot on this thread this weekend!  I almost fainted when I weighed myself on Friday.  I was at 126#.  I too have to weigh myself frequently to get a quick handle on it.  I tried to only weigh myself once last week and then my weight ballooned.  I too have constipation problems.  Unfortunately, my problem is motility and the more fiber I eat the more constipated I become!  My colonoscopy was great thank goodness but I do have Irritable Bowel with constipation.  Miralax and I are friends.

My Trainer has been telling me some of the same things as Jenn regarding food.  It's not working for me so I'm going to go back to what was working for me.  I don't starve myself, I just eat a well balanced diet and eat less of it.  I think I will check out the book Jenn suggested though.  I'm sure this lack of estrogen is totally screwing me up.

Faith - love the idea of posting the exercise.  I was quite proud of myself for swimming for an hour on Friday and an hour on Saturday - Saturday I managed 6 laps.  I'm getting my energy back.  Today I've done a 15 minute walk and will do my strengthening exercises that my trainer has me do.

    Sorry for the long post

Love, Ms. "Can't stop putting the food in the mouth"

HRF, I haven't read that book yet but now I am going to look into it. Sheila I would never cut your fruit intake, fruit is freat for you but a word to the wise..... eat your fruit in the morning or afternoon so that you can use it instead of storing it!!!

On my little vacation I tried to be good.  For breakfast each day I had Raisin Bran (I know it isn't the best choice, but it was a better choice) except I felt drawn to the link sausage as well.  I am back to having Special K in the morning with 2% milk, and will be watching more carefully what I fuel myself with.  The Miralax has helped considerably.  I go back to GP next Monday, we will be dicsussing a colonoscopy soon.  Then I have my followup CT this month, and my Onc in four weeks.  I hope I can keep my mind on an even keel and not eat out of stress.

Since the humidity broke, we just went for a mini-30 min bike ride around the neighborhood..... the biking doesn't have to be first thing in the morning.

Good Girl, Faithie.  After nearly ten hours away from home each day it is so difficult to get motivated to exercise.  So much needs to be done around the house.  Although I did no structured exercise, I spent three hours on my feet cleaning the yard and gardening.  Just came in for a shower and grab a bite for dinner.  I really ned to get my bike tires fixed so I can go riding.  It is 7:40 pm and 101 degrees right now.  Not the best cycling weather for sure.

Meece. You are absolutely right. My life as a 'consultant' gives me the luxury of organizing many of my days to my own tune. Not the same as working a 'real' job with structured hours.

I know that when I am on the road with those 10 & 12 hour days, there's no way that I can also do formal exercise. I think the main thing is that we each work diligently to compete with ourselves over doing more exercise/making better food choices.

Today I was able to ride 12.9 miles in exactly one hour. Had I not had this thread to 'report' my own activity, I wouldn't have even been aware of what I was riding in an hour..... my odometer can show me, but I had to have this place to make it meaningful. (Hope that makes sense.)

Anyhow, I'm not trying to blow my own horn, just attempting to keep my own fires lit.

Each of us has such a unique set of circumstances & health details that we must make our own adventures into self-care as best we can.

    I say rah-rah-rah-rah go labbers!!!

This is my week to make some 'progress.'

I guess I am going to have to get with it to keep up with you, Faith.  Unfortunately I know I have deskwork to do when I get home.  I could put it off another day, but then it will be there tomorrow, and I would like to get it off my list.  Maybe I ought to develop and exer-desk.  What do you think?  Would it catch on?

Actually, I saw an exer-work station on a CNBC show last week.  It was on Obesity or being overweight in America.  Toward the end of the program they showcased a work station that a person stood at and there was a treadmill under their feet so as they were working on the computer they were walking on the treadmill.  I'd love one of those.

Way to go E-labbers (is that even a word? LOL)!!! So excited to hear everyone is making progress.  I weighed in this morning and I was at 143 lbs.  Yeah me and that's after eating "junk" on vacation.  I guess I just don't eat as much as I use to, we walked a lot and swam a lot, so I must have burned a lot more calories that I thought.  The best part is that I have been eating normal foods and have even had some sweets thrown in there and still lost some weight.  I still have 10 more stubborn pounds to get off.  I know it won't be easy, but I have to do it for myself.  We can all keep striving and working together to get to our goals!!

I was 147.4 this morning. Only 1.2# more than when I left on vacation, so slowly getting back down. Hoping for a bit more before weigh in Fri, tho I do weigh myself every morning anyway. Was 151.4 last Friday.

    Something is working.   Smile

    Way to go, Renee!

    Good luck "labbers".

You two had me confused this morning...I thought it was Thursday, but with weigh ins I thought I must have missed Thursday.

I wasn't feeling well yesterday, I just wanted to lay down when I got home from work, and didn't do anything.  During dinner, I got such pain, like heartburn but into my shoulders and neck too.  I took Tums and within minutes it went away, but I woke up at two with a massive headache.   I don't know about the heartburn, but it is almond "shaking time" which brings out the worst allergies around here.  This will last for a few weeks, so I hope I have energy to move more during this time.
