Baby it's cold outside

It was hot and humid here as well until the rain started. I left right after the rain started.
-
It was somewhat humid here yesterday. In the 90s, doubt I will do much outdoors after church today, must water everything, The zucchini are doubling in size daily, and the heat is ripening tomatoes left and right.
-
It is sooo hot outside. 92 degrees. We went to Home Depot this afternoon. I want a butterfly garden. I got a firebush plant, lantana (starts out yellow and also has light pink and then red) 2 pentas for the garden. I needed another caladium for the front and some coleus. We are going to wait until about 7 tonight to see if we can start making a bed without wilting too bad. I still can't get in the pool yet because my new nipples aren't healed yet. I may have to break that rule tonight.
-
Hello friends,
Please send some of your heat to me. We were in the mid 60s with a brisk west wind so most likely had a wind chill in the 50s and we're supposed to be in the low 40s tonight!
We had horrid storms Friday and Sat. night - no deaths thank God but a lot of damage - several trees totaled cars and homes. There was a tornado warning at 1 this morning - I left the TV on all night in case we had a tornado warning (hoping we'd hear the warning on TV) but oh no - DH and I were sound asleep and didn't hear anything!!!! Thankfully we sustained no damage.
Smithlme - Sorry you're getting so much rain and clouds. I love sun and hope you get some soon.
NM - I think Michigan springs are comparable to Maine springs.
Sheila - sorry you had to leave the relay for life - I had to leave the one I was at too because of Tornados and storms.
Meece - I hope you were able to get to the garden after church without having a heat stroke!
Mary - I wouldn't blame you if you broke the swim rules - sounds very hot and I know how humid Florida can be.Have a nice evening everyone.
-
It was so foggy yesterday it was like a misty rain. This coastal living is driving me nuts! The hubby and I took a ride on his bike yesterday and we had to bundle up to stay warm and dry. We came home and built a fire. And it's summer time???
-
I feel your pain Smithlme. All of our windows are closed and I had two blankets on last night and the heat blasting in my car on the way to work this morning. UGH!! Good news for me though - we're supposed to be in the 80s by the end of the week and for the weekend.
Stay warm (I guess it's a good thing we couldn't change the name of our thread).
-
You girls are just saying those things so Mary and I will be jealous! Mary, you can always go in the water up to your ribcage! I know I would.
The over night temp was 70 degrees at 3 am. We are supposed to cool down into the low 80s, even the high 70s, later this week.
I checked the garden this morning, and there is another huge zucchini, begging to be dinner tonight. They love the heat!
-
great news, no rain in the forecast for the next 2 days! Temps are slightly cooler mid 80's vs 90, lower humidity and the skys are clear.
Sheila

I broke down and went all the way in the pool today. I want the DH to start working on my butterfuly garden tonight and I know we needed to cool off. High 90 today. It is 88 right now @ 7:30 pm. Little bit of rain.
-
Sunny, cool and breezy in the 60's...
-
It was 102 in the green house this afternoon. No puttering in there for me!
-
You're such a bragger Meece! I have the electric blanket on, warming up the sheets!
-
Dear Mary, Meece and Sheila,
Please, Please, Please, send me some warmth, PLEASE. I'm freaking freezing (scuse the language)! It was a balmy 45 this morning, I did the automatic starter on the car and blasted the heat again on the way to work.
Edited to add - Smithlme - can I please share your electric blanket?
There is hope beginning tomorrow - it's supposed to be in the low 70s tomorrow.
BTW - one year ago today I had the surgery to place my chemo port and it was my 49th birthday, it was not a good day. I had doubts between my Lupus and the Breast Cancer that I would make it to 50 but today I made it to 50! YEAH. Here's to all of us toasting each other for 50 more years (raise your virtual glass of wine or beverage of choice - Cheers).
-
Cheers to you - Suzette, I will be 50 in October and my baby will be 25 next week!
If I could I would send you some heat. This morning it was 58 degrees outside, last night I turned off my window fan and covered up with a quilt to sleep. Humidity is on the rise as well as the temps over the next couple of days. With the rise of both, the chances of showers/storms increase. Oh the glories of Summer in the Carolinas.
Sheila
-
Happy healthy birthday Suzette! I was thrilled when I hit 50 and even more thrilled when I hit 51 in May. I'll take every birthday I can get!
And today we have....fog...
-
Suz....I aimed my fan in your direction, can yuou feel the warm air? It's your b-day gift. Right now it is 79 degrees at 10:10 am.
-
Happy Birthday Suzette and many many more. I've made it to 56 and find it more liberating every year. What I spent a good deal of my life worrying about means nothing now. It is very freeing.
Will think and send all the heat you can imagine. It is sooooo hot. Last night @7:45 pm we did 30 minutes of work on my new garden and had to stop. It is just too hot. No rain in sight for a few days.
-
Thanks so much ladies. You're all such wonderful support. And now that you mention feeling liberating Mary, I actually do. Just like you smithlme, I'm just so happy today and thrilled and thankful and I'm not minding turning 50 in the least.
Thanks for fanning some heat my way Meece - it's working cause we're up to 68 degrees (now that's supposed to be the high cause the rain is moving in fast.
-
I don't like to think of age as a number but rather an experience. The older you are the more things and places you get to experience. My older sister is hiding her age and I help her once a month cover up the evidence (grey hair). I, on the other hand, am letting my grey hair shine in all it's glory. I have had people compliment me on my highlites, they don't show in this picture, but get a bright light on the top of my hair and you can really see the silver.
Sheila

Suzette: Happy liberating, freeing, experienced 50 to you
-
Shelia, I did go completly gray when it grew back in, but I just felt old. Good for you for keeping it. I caved in and colored it again, I have no regrets. Swam in the pool to cool off when we got home. 91 degress right now @ 7:15pm. Need to water plants later.
-
I have a friend who has been through BC twice in the past 20 years. She is over 80 now, but had been gray haired before each bout. Each time, her hair came in without gray and she had to go gray all over again. She wished it had come back gray to begin with.
-
I am getting my grey early genetically, my great-grandfather was completly grey/silver in his 20's but his wife had a head of dark brown hair with just a touch of grey/silver framing her face when she passed at age 86 and as long as I can remember my grandmother had grey hair. My mother dyed her hair until I was in high school and she stopped when her beautician said that mom's grey looked like a good highlite job. That is what people say about my hair. I found silver in my hair in my early teens. Although several years ago, just after getting my hair done, my hubby asked me if I had it colored as well, I slapped him thinking he was making fun of my silver but he really thought I had it professionally colored/foiled.
back to the weather, at 10:00 pm we are at 70 degrees.
Sheila
-
Nearly 9 and 80 degrees on the back patio.
My mother is 73 and has the silver interspersed in her brown hair, and My 80 yr old fatehr has less gray than my DH!
-
Just got back from the gym and it's 58. I can hear the whistle buoy down in the harbor...
-
Much warmer this morning - 59 degrees headed for a high of 76. Thanks for passing the heat this way.
My hair was brown with a touch of gray here and there before chemo - now it's mostly gray and I was not ready for that so it's colored. Sheila - your hair looks lovely! Meece - sounds like great genes - mine are 50/50 - mom has mostly gray hair at 70 and dad has very little gray hair at 71. Smith - hope it warms up for you soon! You're in California for heavens sake (aren't you?)
-
I may be in California but I live along the North Coast. Even the whales swim north to Alaska to get warm! I can drive an hour inland and be in the warmer weather. This morning it's raining. I hope it stops so I can go walk along the beach.
-
Record high of 94 degrees today. Hot and humid, miserable. I'm glad I'm indoors in a cool office. Will swim again this afternoon to cool off.
Smith--we visited Monterey several years ago in August and I was amazed at the differences in temps. Very cool along the coast, but inland, it was in the 100's.
-
Smith is even further North than Monterey. She can probably see icebergs floating offshore
JK!
-
Good gracious. Well, I'll think warm thoughts to you and send some your way.
