A CATHOLIC PRAYER

May God grant you always
A sunbeam to warm you,
A moonbeam to charm you,
A sheltering angel, so nothing can harm you.
- Irish saying
Dear Lord
My heart and prayers
go out to any one
grieving the loss of a loved one today
to the victims
of Hurricane Katrina
to the rescue workers
and the families they leave behind
Keep them safe and out of harms way....
In the midst of
shock
fear
and
anger
help us to focus on the fact that you are
our strength and hope
Awaken and encourage us to be generous as this will be a long process for those who have to rebuild their shattered lives...
In the days to follow let us continue to pray
for those who have lost their lives
and their grieving families
for anyone who is waiting to be rescued
for anyone who is hurt and suffering
for anyone who may be alone and frightened
and for the teams of rescue workers and the families they leave behind...
Please fill the hearts of our friends who find themselves victims of this horrible disaster with hope...
For as long as there if life
there is hope....

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console,
not so much to be understood as to understand,
not so much to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
it is in dying that we awake to eternal life.

Today is the Feast Day Mother Teresa of Calcutta ..
Mother Teresa died on Sept 5th 1997
She was 87 yrs old at the time of her deah..
Born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in 1910 in Skopje, Yugoslavia She joined the Sisters of Loreto in 1928..........
The name "Teresa"
was chosen
after St. Teresa
of Lisieux patroness of the Missionaries....
In 1948 she left the convent
received some medical training in Paris
to work alone in the slums;
In 1952, Mother founded the Nirmal Hriday Home
They cared for the poor
the sick
and the dying Indians that were found on the streets.
Her divine mission was to aid "the poorest of poor": the sick and dying in the streets of Calcutta
It didn´t matter whether they were dying of AIDS or Leprosy. She wanted them to be able to die in peace and with dignity.
For over 50 years, Mother worked selflessly helping the poor.
Her devotion and love towards the poor won her respect throughout the world and in 1979 Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize...
In 1982 she rescued
37 mentally challenged children
from a hospital in Beirut
She did this by convincing the Israelis and Palestinians to have a temporary ceasefire.
She was a true Saint
Our Angel on earth...........
She lives on in spirit and her work continues.
Her Order of Charity covers 5 continents,
feeds 500,000 families
and helps 90,000 lepers every years.
Dear Jesus
help me to spread Thy fragrance everywhere I go. Flood my soul with Thy spirit and love. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of Thine. Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel Thy presence in my soul. Let them look up and see no longer me but only Jesus. Stay with me and then I shall begin to shine as you shine, so to shine as to be a light to others.

color:purple]Novena Prayer
Lord Jesus, your Sacred Heart is always open in love to each of us, and especially when we are suffering. To all who come to you seeking your help, you show your compassion and your healing power. You .care for us when we are lost, sympathize with us in loneliness and comfort us in mourning. You are closest to us when we are weakest. You reach out your hand to us when we stumble and have most need of your help. I ask you to listen to my prayer during this novena, and grant what I ask (make your request silently). But if what I ask is not for my own good and that of
others, grant me always what is best, that I may build up your Kingdom of love in our world. Amen.

Blessed are the poor in spirit:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn:
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek:
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness:
for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful:
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart:
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers:
for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Lord our God, when your
Son was dying on the altar of the cross,
he gave us as our mother
the one he had chosen to be his own mother,
the Blessed Mother Mary;
grant that we who call upon the holy name of Mary,
our mother,
with confidence in her protection
may receive strength and comfort in all our needs (Marian Sacramentary, Mass for the Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary).

Prayer to St. Dymphna - Hope
St. Dymphna, you placed all your hope in Christ's promises, and sacrificed even your life in that hope. The Lord, God, rewarded your constancy by making your name known and loved over many centuries by the thousands whom you have aided in time of difficulty. Please assist us now in our present necessity, and intercede before God for our intentions. Obtain for us a firm hope like your own in God's unfailing protection. Amen.
*******************************
Prayer to St. Dymphna - Justice
Admirable St. Dymphna, how just you were to all whom you encountered, and how careful you were to give every person his due, and more than he might desire or expect. By your power with God please come to assist us to be just to all we meet, and even to be generous in giving everyone more than strict justice requires. Amen.
**************************************
Prayer to St. Dymphna - Perseverance
Most faithful St. Dymphna, you remained true to your baptismal promises to the very end. You are, therefore, honored, known, and loved after 1,400 years by people you have aided all over the world. We do not know how long or short a time is left to us of this life here, but help us in any case to be faithful to God to the end. Please gain for us the grace to live one day at a time as if each were to be our last. Amen.

"This little light of mine..I"m going to let it shine"
Do not look forward in fear to the changes of life;
Rather look to them with full hope that as they arise,
God, whose very own you are, will lead you safely
through all things;
And when you cannot stand it, God will carry you
in His arms.
Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
The same everlasting Father who cares for you today
will take care of you today and every day.
He will either shield you from suffering or will give you
unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace and put aside all anxious thoughts and
imaginations.

September 23, 2005 Feast Day of
St. Padre Pio
(1887-1968)
God our Father, in Saint Pio you gave a light to your faithful people. You made him a pastor of the Church to feed your sheep with his word and to teach them by his example. Help us by his prayers to keep the faith he taught and follow the way of life he showed us. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. -

Saint Anthony, Consoler of the Afflicted
Dear St. Anthony, comforting the sorrowful is a Christian duty and a work of mercy. By word, attitude, and deed I should try to brighten their days and make their burden easier to bear. St. Anthony, Consoler of the Afflicted, may I remember when helping someone in sorrow that I am helping Christ Himself. Kindly mention my pressing needs to Him. (Name you special intentions).
Praying for all of the victims of Hurricane Katrina
Please keep everyone safe from the Path and rath of Hurricane Rita...

Father in Heaven, God of power and Lord of mercy,
from whose fullness we have all received,
direct our steps in our everyday efforts.
May the changing moods of the human heart
and the limits which our failings impose on hope
never blind us to you, source of every good.
Faith gives us the promise of peace
and makes known the demands of love.
Remove the selfishness that blurs the vision of faith.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Mary Immaculate, you have given yourself to us as our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. You have asked us to pray with confidence, and we will receive great graces. We know your compassion, because you saw your Son suffer and die for us. In your union with his suffering you became the mother of us all.
Mary, my mother, teach me to understand my suffering as you do and to endure it in union with the suffering of Jesus. In your motherly love, calm my fears and increase my trust in God's loving care.
According to God's plan, obtain for me the healing I need. Intercede with your Son that I may have the strength I need to work for God's glory and the salvation of the world.
Amen.
Mary, health of the sick, pray for me.

A Prayer When Lighting a
Votive Light
O Blessed Lord, and my beloved Mother, Mary, accept this burning candle as a sign of my faith and love for you. Like this candle, I am ready to be used in your service, without asking why and to what purpose. Even as this candle, I wish to stand in your presence to be consumed in the light and warmth of your love. Please hear my prayer and, if it is your will, grant my petition. But above all make me loyal and faithful to you in all circumstances of my life. Amen.
