Hi all:
It has been a while since I have been on the Boards. Hope all are well. I will try to make it on the 10th. It is a busy week-end for me. The Olive Garden in Novi sounds good to me.

Hi All..
Sorry I have not posted as much-had surgery again on my left breast implant (ruptured) and now heading back to Fort Myers to close on my Mom's property.
I obviously will not make it for the outing on the 10th-hope you all have a good time.
I'm already sick of summer..geez did I say that??!
Peace all, Lorie -
Hey All,
You'll need the banner!! (and breastcancer.org cybersister t-shirts). We'll need to get it out immediately. Someone please email their mailing address/phone number.
Thanks!!

Connisue and I can both be there if it is 1:00 or 1:30...I have a birthday party before that. Who all is coming then?
-
Ouch...and God Bless!
-
Well, I don't want to be the only one at the Olive Garden Saturday. I can see me with my face in the 'never ending pasta bowl' (their special right now), just waiting for everyone to show up. I'll keep eating until everyone gets there! Are most of you coming for sure? If Chris and ConnieSue come around 1:30 and Judy has to leave early, should we try for 1:00 ish? Is that too late for Judy?
Has anyone talked to Pat? She was scheduled for surgery on 8/10! I hope she is just offline to enjoy here grandbaby.
LorieAnne - How did your implant rupture? So much is thrown at you; I wish I could do something for you. Things have got to get better. No, I'm NOT ready for summer to be over.
Angel17 - Please be careful. Hopefully Shirlann can do something for you.
I haven't had time to get online and send pm's to the MI ladies or contact others through email. Has anyone talked to Michelle?
It looks like my work has Net Nanny on the network. Evidently the word breast is a dirty word to them and I get a FORBIDDEN... banner. I'm not online during lunch like I used to be.
Since we all signed the banner already (I think), I thought we would forgo it this time and leave some room for the other get-togethers. Is that ok with everyone? Are we the only state that gets together every couple of months?
Will some of you check to verify about Saturday? I'm thinking tiramisu......

Nancy -
I'm planning on being there at 1 pm.
Gerri -
Hi Gerri. I'll see you there at 1! I'll post a message on some of the other topics today.
-
Hi Nancy,
Looking forward to seeing you again. I just got an email from Michele and she's working that day. I still haven't heard back from Pat though.
Gerri -
I have to work, but I wish the rest of you a safe trip and a wonderful time!
-
Hi there...so there are five of us? We will plan on being there around 1:00.
-
Hi All:
I thought I could make it on Saturday. However, I started a new job this fall, teaching and I have to prepare for two classes on Monday; we have a department dinner on Friday night and the 30th anniversary celebration for our parish on Sunday. Plus, I have meetings all Monday morning. Thus, I need to squeeze time in between then and now for preparation and working on another project. I would really like to be there. I haven't missed any. Next time I will definitely try to be there. Enjoy!
Pam W.
Woodhaven -
We will miss you Pam. Best wishes on your new job.
Are Judy and Candi still coming?
Maybe if we set a date for November also, we can get Fitztwins from West MI and Catherine and Kats from Chicago and jon from Ohio to join us. It seems like there are many new MI newbies. I cannot keep track of everyone anymore.
I'll see the rest of you (and anyone else who decides to pop in) tomorrow at 1:00!
Zoo - how are you doing?
Anna - you haven't checked in for a long time.
Pat - you are starting to worry us.
Wishing everyone the best. -
Gerri, Thank you for the info about your dentist, but I live in Rochester Hills, so Novi is a bit too far. If anyone can recommend a Rochester Hills dentist, I'd appreciate it.
I really wanted to make it to the luncheon today, but it is the beginning of the school semester and I'm already behind. I had to stay home today & catch up on grading and lesson planning because next Saturday I will be giving a baby shower for my daughter in Kalamazoo. Getting my part together has been exhausting. I will try to make it if you have another get-together in November, but no promises because that is when my daughter's due date is.
Arimadex seems to be causingme tremendous joint pain, especially in my knees. It also seems to be aging my skin about a decade a month. Has anyone else had this experience? I can't take any pain med other than Tylenol or narcotics because I'm on coumadin since I developed a blood clot after surgery in May.
I'll try to at least do better at reading and posting. Does anyone live in Rochester Hills or Troy?
Ann -
Gerri, Nancy, and Connisue...I had a great time seeing you all.
Sadly to say...after getting in my car afterwards and checking my voicemail...I found out the friend I told you about passed yesterday morning. That was a total bummer.
But I went on the canoe trip anyways and we didn't make it into camp until it was dark. That was exciting. I just got home.
To everyone else...we are thinking of getting together the first Saturday in November (11/5/05). Lets all mark our calendars! -
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Thank goodness you got to visit him.
I had a wonderful time Saturday and can't believe how the time just flew by. I look forward to the next one on 11/5. It's on my calendar!

I'm so sorry about your friend and like N. said, it appears you got to see him in time. How sad!
It was wonderful meeting up with everyone again and I'm looking forward to November 5.
Take care. -
Sorry I missed you guys. We were in Michigan the week before. The boys went to "Hooters" and the hooter girls(really sweet young girls and those twelve year old boys were in LOVE) signed a tee shirt for me to "fill out" if I can ever get the "boobs" of my dreams. I am going to keep working on it. We have a tournament scheduled end of September but in Pittsburgh. I think this will be the best hockey year ever. Son was selected for best of the best team locally so we will be traveling.

Hi:
I am sorry to hear about your friend.
I put Novemebr 5 on my calendar. Hopefully, I'll be less stressed out by then.
Pam -
Gerri, thanks for letting me know about the get together. I was not able to attend but have the Nov. date marked. I would love to meet you all!

Hi Nancy and all:
I'm so sorryI haven't been good in communicating lately but sure didn't mean to worry you!!! Sorry!!! Everything is just great as a matter of fact. It just seems since my daughter Julie had our first grandbaby (Reilly) on June 15th - it's been go go go. I stayed with her in Milwaukee until about July 11th and then they were here for a visit in August, right before my total knee replacement (August 10). I was in the hospital for 3 days and then after that they send in a home care nurse and a physical therapist so you're on quite a schedule. In the middle of that my daughter brought Reilly in for a long weekend. Then this past weekend, Reilly was baptized in Milwaukee in September 11th and John and I were there for a long weekend. I'm now back and have started out patient therapy three times a week. Then this Sunday there is a baby shower for my younger daughter, Meghan who is expecting a baby on October 14th - so we're off to Chicago this weekend again. Whfew!!!! Then after this we just wait for the call to come to Chicago for Meghan's baby's birth. It's been a real maery-go-round with two babies, showers, baptism and a knee replacement. I can't say it's been dull. That is why I wasn't able to make it to the last get together but hopefully November should be good for me. It will be nice to see you all again. I send my prayers for the best for all of you!!
Blessings,
Pat -
Hi. This is Shari from Michigan (Southfield area). I finished everything (surgery, chemo, radiation), July 19th, this year. I still have my port and expander in (having problems with that)-think the radiation did something to that. Going back to plastic surgeon the the 28th. Would love to chat with anyone near by, same situation, or similar. Please email me at Shariwest@aol.com
**** LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU **** -
Congrats on your new grandbaby Pat!
Congrats on being done with everything Shari!
I have the weekend off so I can go to the Relay for Life that is in Big Rapids. I missed it last year because of work and I felt really bad about it. -
Many thanks for the sorries for my friend. The whole week was very sad. Right now, my husband and I are in Cheboygen as we are lighthouse keepers for the weekend. We volunteer a few weekends each year.
-
Hi. Anyone from Southfield, or near by? I am 47, had left mastectomy(with the start of reconstruction), chemo, and radiation. Had problems with expander and port (from the rads). Just had expander and port removed 3 days ago. It's been crazy. But the expander and port site were so painful, after like the 5th week of rads. Would love to hear from some near by neighbors.

Hi Ladies:
I just stumbled upon this thread. I usually hang out under the "Reconstruction" topic only. I'm so glad I found this section. I'm Lori, and live in the Canton area. Have been here for 16 years. This past July, was my second bout with cancer. My first was in 1990 when I was only 24 years old, and then I had a reocurrence just this past July at the age of 40. Would love to be in on any of the get togethers for the Michigan gals. Just had my stage 1 Diep in New Orleans and am doing great in regards to recovery. I was diagnosed with high grade DCIS and underwent a right breast mastectomy with immediate recon. Would love to hear from any ohter gals in this area!!!
Lori J. -
Hi Lori. I grew up in Canton, moved to Garden City 19 years ago. My parents still live there, though. It's been quiet on this board for a couple of weeks, but it's bound to pick up again, it always does.
We try to have get togethers often, and hope that most of us can make it. It is often hard to come up with a day that works for everyone, though.
Was your first diag. also for DCIS? That was my diagnosis, too. It's been almost 2 years now (in Feb.)
Welcome, we're glad you found us here. The ladies here are really special.
Judy B -
Hi Judy:
Nice to meet you. To answer your question, my first diagnosis was DCIS to the right breast. It was microscopic though. The tumor was so tiny that it was impossible to do a hormone study on it. At that time I had 38 rounds of radiation and then I was done. I was cancer free for 15 years after that. Then just this past July I was diagnosed this time with high grade DCIS - non invasive. So my oncologist thought that it would be best to have the entire breast removed. Which was fine with me, because every other year or so over the past 15 years, I had suspicious calcifications to that same breast. I have undergone 4 biopsies within the last 6 years and except for this past July, they always came out benign. So, I'm just glad to be rid of the darn thing. My diep looks fabulous and I couldn't be happier with my new body.
I'll check back here often to see if there are any new postings in regard to get togethers. I would love to meet some Michigan gals from this board!
Take Care,
Lori J. -
Lori...nice to meet you and so sorry about the reoccurence.
To all the MI gals...where are you? I can't believe that time has passed so quickly since our last get together. I think we were suppossed to get together in early November and now it is December. Maybe January?
I started a new job this week so I am quite happy about that. Hopefully all will go well with my health.
Getting ready for Christmas. Enjoy and update us on life ladies!
