Hi Lori.... Glad you found us..... Hi girls.... Where is everyone at....? I watched the thread around the beginning of November and saw no new posts about meeting.... and I wasn't feeling so hot, but swore to myself I would try to make it if I could....
I've been having some colon issues and really haven't been able to travel far from home as it seemed my toilet and I had become the best of friends.... I had a coloscopy on Nov 28 and will get the results tomorrow.... The prelim report said they found some iflammation and some ulcerations and they took some biopsy's......
Otherwise, just trying to get ready for the holiday season, have my tree up and some other decorations but just doing it slowly......
Hope all is well with you guys...... I do check here everyday looking for posts..... But I think I would have been the only one posting....lol......
Hugs.......

Hi Lori-sorry to hear about your reoccurance. Glad to hear it's non-invasive.Candy, hope you get good results from your biopsy. Hope everyone else is enjoying the holiday season.I would love to meet some of the Michigan gals at the next get-together.

Hey Ladies...(and welcome Lori)
Lori, I also live in Canton (past 6 years)-small world. eh? Hoping everyone is doing well. I "finally" feel like I am getting back to my old self here. I'm actually looking forward to toasting "out" 2005.
You all up to getting together this month? If not, maybe next year.
Hoping this post finds us happy and well.
Happy Holidays everyone:-)

Hi..Thought I would introduce myself. My name in Joanie. I'm 56 y.o. I live in Howell and was dx with bc this past June. Had right mastectomy for early Stage I IDC (had 2 small tumors, 0.8cm grade 2 & 0.9cm grade 1, ER/PR+, HER2- SNB neg., no angiolymphatic invasion). No chemo or radiation, started Arimidex in July. Am having a hard time coping with this emotionally and mentally right now. Saw several other members that are from Howell. I noticed your last get together was in November, I believe. I would be interested in getting together maybe after the holidays. Looking forward to meeting fellow Michiganders(?) Michiganians? I never know which one to use....I'm originally from Chicago..have lived here in Michigan since 1985. Love Michigan but still miss Chicago sometimes. We go back there often for family get togethers. We'll be there on January 7th to celebrate our Christmas with my cousins, aunts, etc. Looking forward to meeting you all soon.!

Hi Joanie..... Sorry you had to find us, but you found one great group of ladies..... My dad used to live in Downtown Chicago and I loved going there..... Such a pretty town during the holidays..... I was lucky enough to spend a christmas there with him and it was beautiful and such a clean city too compared to Detroit.....
Just checking in to see how everyone is dealing with the snow and holidays and such.....
Hope this finds everyone well..... Happy Holidays......!!!!
Hugs.......

Hi. I am Shari from Southfield Michigan. Dx. last Dec. (right around now). Had left mastectomy (1-31-05), reconstruction, right away-which was a no, no, chemo (3 drugs at once), and 5 1/2 weeks of radiation. The radiation messed up implant, and had that removed, first week in Oct. I am on Arimdiex, being treated through Royal Oak Beaumont. I forget to come on this board. Anyone that would like to chat, email me at Shariwest@aol.com. Have a Merry Christmas/Happy Chanukah.
Shari -
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Thought I might toss the idea of a get together back in the air as the holidays have passed.
Michelle -
A get-together sounds good now that the holidays are over. I'm game.
Gerri -
Hi there Geri and all our Michigan gals . . . I agree that we are due (or maybe even overdue??) for a get together. Maybe we could see what is good for everyone. I am going to be gone the middle two weeks of March because my daughter will be moving but February looks pretty good all except the 25th. Just a thought.
Blessings to all,
Pat -
Glad to see you back online Pat. Hopefully the rest of the Michigan gals will be along soon.
-
Gerri:
I've been so busy with my two grandbabies and seem to have been both in Chicago and/or Milwaukee alot lately. I'll be home all of February and the first week in March but then I'm off to babysit for my younger daughter first and then the older one right after that. I love it although it keeps me busy, believe me!! Hope we can get the gang together either before I go or after I get back. We'll have to wait and see who is available.
Gerri, hope all is going well with you. Are you working now or a lady of leisure?? LOL
God bless,
Pat -
I'm still around too...just late in checking the boards. All is well with me...just busy with the new job and two classes this semester and a new puppy and a new travel trailer. My daughter says "parents gone wild!" Anyway, lets do get together.
Chris -
I'm here too...... Been feeling pretty good lately.... (knock on wood).... I have a lat flap scheduled in late March, but other than that the beginning of March is good for me.......
Hugs........

Has anyone else had experience with treatment at either Henry Ford Hospital or Troy Beaumont Hospital? I am seeking new drs. due to some experiences. I live in Rochester Hills. I haven't been able to make it to any of your get togethers because I have been so sick. I hope to do so soon.
Luckyanna -
I'm in for a get together...as long as it doesn't snow.
Anna - I had treatment through Beaumont (RO and Troy). I am PMing you. -
Beginning of March is good here.
Gerri -
Sat 3/4?
Sat 3/11?
Sun 3/12? -
Count me in. Any of those dates are good for me. it sounds like the beginning of March is best for most of you. Should we plan the 4th?
-
I could probably do the 4th but will be gone from March 5th through March 30th doing babysitting in Illinois and Wisconsin.
Blessings,
Pat -
Luckyanna:
I had treatment through Beaumont Royal Oak and have been very pleased with my doctors etc. Let me know if you would like their names etc., okay?
Blessings,
Pat -
March 4 works for me.
Gerri -
Lets plan for March 4th then. I have a great idea...how about if we can get the MI gals (and friends/families) to do "Race for the Cure"...June 10th in Detroit? There is a 5k run, a 5k walk, a 1k walk, and a trolley for those who can't walk. We don't have have to collect money (or we can if you want), but more so instead do it for our well being and sisters. And maybe we could meet and cheer each other on and then hang out afterwards?
-
I've done the Komen Race for the Cure 5K walk the last two years and definitely plan on it again this year. My two survivor friends talked me into it and we have a great time. They have all these Company sponsors that give out freebies so we walk around after the race and stock-up. There is a Survivor tent that we could meet at and hang out either before or after the walk.
When you sign up, they give you a pink t-shirt, hat and other things in a welcome packet. They have these signs you can pin on you that say you are walking for someone or in memory of someone. I put for breastcancer.org on mine and in memory of Sprite the first year I went.
If you have enough people, you can form a team. Several of the teams wear something to show that they are a group and they are quite creative. There are pink flamingo hats, feather boas and other silly stuff that are a hoot. There is no pressure to raise funds but it costs (I think) about $25 or $30 to register depending on if you have your packet mailed to you or pick it up when you get there. Looking at their website, it is too early to sign up so I dont know the details.
Along the route are groups playing music and people cheering you on. Many local high schools have their bands playing songs. It is very emotional, you cant help getting teary. It is all done by around noon so we go to the coney island for lunch.
Here is the web site:

Are we going to the Olive Garden in Novi again? March 4 sounds like a date. Once we are sure about the details, lets announce it on the other topics to catch all the new Michigan ladies on here. I think that one of my friends will be joining us this time.
Nancy -
I love the "Race for the Cure" idea!!!!
Novi is always fine with me. But if anyone wants to move it somewhere closer to their home, that's fine too.
Looking forward to the 4th.
Gerri -
Hi All:
The fourth is good here too - and the Olive Garden in Novi is fine as well unless some would like to have it elsewhere. No preference . . . Looking forward to seeing everyone, it seems like a long long time!!!
Blessings,
Pat -
Yes...lets plan on it then. Nancy...can you post elsewhere? Do you think we can meet a bit early...say around 11:00? I have some overnight guests (little ones) that I am taking care of on Saturday night.
I will let Barb and Conniesue know.
Also...for the Race for the Cure...maybe we can plan the picnic in the park afterwards? -
The Michigan ladies are getting together again. The holidays are over
and Spring is almost here
So, get off your
and join us on March 4th at the Novi Olive Garden at 11:00 a.m.
The address is 43300 Crescent Blvd Novi, MI.
Here is a map:Map to the Olive Garden
Bumping our announcement up to the top! -
Yay - I see that Molly (Molly57) responded to one of the posts that she will join us. I sent PM's to a few people.
jon responded that she will not make it but wrote this lovely note to everyone:Quote:
I will never forget my first meeting with you all. At that point, I was sure I was
going to die and met these wonderful ladies that had been through treatment and were thriving. I owe all of you so many heartfelt thanks.
What a sweetheart!
Judy's email bounced back. Has anyone heard from her lately? Looking forward to next weekend.
xxxooo
Nancy -
Our bc neighbor in Windsor - shel38 is going to join us. She asked if she would be intruding. Of course not! Everyone is welcome.
