I know what you mean about the board addiction.  I have less time to "play" here, because I have taken to a friendship of a young woman who is going through a horrible ordeal with Dx.  We correspond 3 or more times a day, so my time on the boards is spent trying to make my communications with her are wise and encouraging as possible.

That being said... I have been trying to lose weight on my own for months on end.  This last month is the first in over a year in which my weight has gone down and stayed down.  I credit it all to this thread and my accountabliity to all of you ladies here.  THANK YOU!!!

Got a bust day, without a computer, so I will check in later.

Meece put me down for 158 lbs.  I have to confess though with all the stress of my dad being sick and sitting at the hospital I did cheat a "little".  I usually don't, but I ate some chocolate almond m&m's (about 8) and I had one cookie and yesterday morning for b'fast I had a scone with my coffee, instead of yogurt and bran. So today back on the wagon with my diet.

Meece - Sorry for being late with my info.

I just had the computer turned off last night when I remembered I hadn't posted my weigh in.  So I'm down to 166.8 (lost 1.4 lbs). Quite happy with that, did manage to actually do some outdoor walking 3 times this week about 2 miles each time (hilly roads!!) so that probably helped!!

Good luck to all for the coming week!!

    Wow!  You ladies rock!

I was in charge of a big meeting today, and I was running around a lot, but when it came time for lunch, I managed to eat my share.  Then there was dessert...a plethura of cakes, brownies, and cookies was there, and I ate three cookies, and a very small piece of a rocky road brownie.  Oh, so yummy.  That not being bad enough, we took the guest speaker out for basque food tonight, and although I only ordered the set-up, I couldn't pass on the Spumoni ice cream.  I guess tomorrow I HAVE to get on the bicycle.   I think it was my stress level that caused me to eat, but can stress burn calories as well?

Basque is served family style so I would have been better of at a regular restaurnt.  But we haven't had it since our anniversary.  Save it for special occasions.

Meece- sorry to say that for me at least, stress tends to make me gain weight. UGH! So what ever is bothering you let it go, let go of the wrongful guilt and focus on the positive.

Renee- Prayers sent to you and you family while you daddy gets better.

Today I made a big platter of stuffed celery with fat free cream cheese, green olives and walnuts. All on my low carb- low fat diet. This AM I made a very delicious ham cup with cooked collards and egg.I saw Rachel Ray make it with spinach and "Southerned" it up a bit. Yum Yum! I will probably make it for Mom and Dad when they come down in May. Hubby, doggie and I went walking every morning, 3 days, in our hood. It's about 2 miles of hills. Broke a sweat so I'm sure I am doing well.

May we all start off this week on the right foot and stay steady on our course!

    One more quick post-

I was watching doctor Oz the other day and it was all about your DNA and weight loss. I couldn't sit down and enjoy the entire show but what I did get out of it was that people who carry weight in their belly should try a low carb diet with lots of veggies, and when the weight is carried in the hips, thighs and butt should stick with a low fat diet. Of course family history of heart disease and other things were mentioned too. Personally I have no butt and my legs look good, but I look like I am 12 mos. pregnant and have, for lack of better words, back fat. So my low carb and watching my fat intake should be pretty good for me.

Low fat for me it is then.

I tried to do more moving today... I vacuumed, cleaned the kitchen and helped DH catch fish, all keeping my activity level high.  Hoping it will burn some calories off.  I really wish I could get rid of my huge uppe arms...what diet take care of that?

Oh, and when I was at the nursery at church the babies got some good dancing in with me.  That should cut a couple of calories off shouldn't it?

    Birdie friends.

I have finished a project that I've been working on since my surgery in January.

It is a four minute 'movie' made up of daisy photographs I took last summer. It is my intention to share it with you -- to offer it as a 'meditation' ........... when you have the urge to go to the refrigerator, take one four minute 'break' from whatever stresses you and exhale.

The instrumental background is my daughter.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KMMWvMVTko&feature=autofb

I'm smiling because I got to 'walk' the treadmill again this morning. Racked up another 6 miles, in less time. I would never have done this 'dedicated' walking without your encouragement.

A very talented family indeed, Faith.  I meant to mention that in the other thread when I watched the video.  I watched completely through the credits.

    Awwwwww. Thanks Meece.

It feels so good to have this project completed. It is my 'how-I-spent-my-recovery-time' effort.

We're two more days in paradise, then back to the 'real' world.

I'll tell my DD2 -- your compliment. It is her life's work, so I was thrilled to have her contribution.

I showed the video to my group of 4 year olds. They liked it but one kept asking when the bugs were going to come out. It's a beautiful work. Thanks for sharing.

I'm back after my week long trip to Florida...trying to catch up on all the posts, but will have to do it later.  I have gained back a couple of pounds, but hopefully they will be gone by Friday.

    Well, I can hope, can't I???

I am right there with you, CarolinaChick.  Hope you had a nice trip.

I have had my cup of coffee and handfull of granola today.  Spinach salad for lunch.  I hope mine will go down this week.  I think I will trick myself, and not weigh this week unless I am fully clothed.  I will hopefully have a great surprise on Friday.  I am looking forward to the weeks ahead when I can see the weight fluctuating in the 150s instead of the 160s.

    Baby Steps!

I hear you Meece. I'm so looking forward to 150 anything! Taking my time and doing it right. I have noticed that my hair and nails are doing better than ever in my life. I had a rough go after chemo. even lost one nail, but now they are long and strong. That tells me that I am healthier now than ever.

Mmm I love spinach salads, and this one is only 250 calories.  Good source of protien, too.

I just need to focus.  I bought an impulse item at the grocery store just now, but I won't open it today.  It will be my reward for a job well done Friday. Or sooner, if I am a really good girl!

I was saying the same thing this morning.

Even if it says 159.8. For me that will be a big accomplishment

I had a very difficult time at the supermarket today. I was at the imported cheese section,

I felt sitting on the floor grab few cheeses and start eating them like an animal. Embarassed

Then chocolate aisle dove minis I walked away.Tongue out

By the time I was finished I was emotionally exhausted. But didn't buy anything.

I always ate Dannon Light and Fit not because its 80 calories and 0 fat I just like the texture and the flavors. If anyone of you like pineapple-coconut  they came out with this new flavor. I just had one. It was delicious.

    Thank you for listening.

I feel your pain, Seyla, I really do!!!  I have a little square of cheese each day when I get home from work.  I have to limit myself.  restraint.

    Seriously. This is the truth.

Today on the treadmill I walked 7.5 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have one more day here, (sunny FL) with access to the exercise machines.

Fly out on Wed to my real life -- where temptations await & no machinery.

I'm hoping that my Fri results can arrive on Wed morning.

Way to go, birdies who are making good choices thru the day!!!!

Yum Scallops. I actually made some the other night with a little olive oil and garlic. Delicious. I'm waiting for the price of Avocados to go down. They are $1.25 each here and not very attractive.

7.5 miles!! That's great! How long does it take you to do that distance? I'm up to almost 2 miles in a half hour with about half of it on incline. I can't imagine doing 7.5 miles.

The first four miles I walked in an hour. The first time I was able to sustain that speed for that length of time. The remaining 3.5 miles took an additional hour.

Sounds like you're doing great, Paulding. Especially if you have incline time built into it.

To me. It's all about having the time available.

    LOL

    And the machines.

This morning I walked six miles in my farewell trip.

    Ever onward birdies.

Faith, Paulding, Meece, Sheila, good for you.  I know all about the time, now that i am back to work it is hardere to work int he exercise but I am really trying.  Really tired yesterday and did nothing after work but eat and sleep.  Hope the rain stops and we can go for a walk tonight.  I love walking down the road to the woods, just have to give myself that littel extra push out the door it seems.  Thanks to all for your continued support.  I make my own yogurt and then add fresh for frozen fruit or a tablespoon of homemade jam.  I use 1/2% milk, beef it up with a little dry milk powder,(it boosts the calcium and D too) add a teaspoon of plain gelatin for body.  We really like it and I use it in salad dressings too.  If anyone wants directions and recipes for making yogurt at home let me know and I  will PM it to you.

carollynn...What a coincidence when the girls were little I used to make my own yogurt at least once a week. Covering with a towel or a small blanket overnight. I never used plain gelatin.

Maybe I start making it again. Now Im excited.Cool

I don't make it anymore since they both adults now. Where I was born yogurt was a very important part of the diet.

Faith.....You are good. I rely on my legs and the roads for my walking. 3-4 miles I'm comfortable.

Probably if I had someone with me I could walk more.

    Have a nice day all.
