I did pretty good today.  Had a chicken with salad for lunch and baked chicken for dinner.  Then had a few Twizzlers (they are fat free) and I love them.

I am not sure that I would wear a bikini, even if I weighed 120 lbs.  I am like elimar, maybe if I Photo Shopped my head on someone.  But who knows, I might be the next Mrs. America. lol

Everyone sounds like they are eating so good.   Hoping everyone has a very restful weekend.

Nicole that sounds delicious!!! yummy!!!!  LOL on the wine... I made myself drink red wine while I was going through radiation, but I really don't like it.  I would almost chug it down, because I read it was suppose to help decrease the burning.  If it helped I would hate to know how badly I would have burned without it, but I didn't really burn till the boosts so maybe it did it's job.  I do know as soon as rads was over... NO MORE!  I have and entire bottle and 1/2 in my fridge.

Had my Kashi cereal (dry) this morning just so I could take my pill along with a glass of Pomegranate/Blueberry juice. Jerky for lunch because DH & I were out & about shopping. For dinner I had 2 tacos with lots of lettuce & tomato. Not bad for today.

Tomorrow morning I am fixing those Pillsbury cinnamon rolls & instead of the usual 4 (there are 8 in the pack & we usually split the bunch), I vow to only have 2. That will be my sin for the day if I can stay away from the Candy Bar Angel dessert my DD is making for her DH's birthday dinner. That. Will. Be. Hard.

I bought a heart monitor watch at Target today to use when I workout. It counts calories, too. Wow, 3500 calories in a #?? Dang, I have a lot of work to do!!!  :D

I don't have a problem not having wine, I don't like it. Maybe once or twice a year I have a small glass of Late Harvest Riesling (there goes that sweet tooth again!) with my DD. Red wine gives me a whopper of a headache!

No wine for me...red or white...they both give Me horrible headaches too

Those of you who are just starting to exercise regularly...remember, muscle weighs more than fat.  You may not see a loss on the scales right away, maybe even a small gain.  Don't get discouraged.  The muscle you are building will burn more calories at rest, so keep at it and the weight will drop.  Even without losing a pound, you might notice the weight shifting and your clothes fitting better.

One challenge I have is that we have teens in the house, therefore we are never without the snack items (healthy AND naughty.)  This is where I have to exert the willpower to leave those naughty nutter butters alone and only go for the fruit.

All your meals are making me hungrier,  Good thing you cannot see me drool.  It's not pretty.

DH and I went out to dinner last night.  Our problem is we're trying to adjust to being empty nesters and don't like to cook for ourselves so we are always going out to dinner.  Anyway, I ordered the Salmon and Baked Potato and Salad.  I ate the salad and had the dressing on the side and used the "fork dip" method I learned in weight watchers a few years ago.  Also, I only ate 1/2 the salmon and had the other 1/2 for lunch today.  Skipped the sour cream and cheese on the potato.  Going to try to do some of my inside exercises this afternoon - too cold to go walking.

HRF- There is no being embarrassed here!

All, I totally cheated last night went to the movies with the family, watched them eat buttered popcorn, I restrained UNTIL the second half of the movie where I said, okay, just a few... half a box later!!! And, I cannot eat popcorn with peanut m & m's... I mix them together, sweet and salty! Delicious! So, back to the grind today... 6 more days til weigh in so good time to cheat!!! Hee Hee

Sheila- While in Hawaii, I will not be dieting, either! In fact, perhaps instead of meeting for coffee, we should go for a glass of wine... we shall see, either way, I look forward to meeting you

Okay for the first time in over a year I went running.  I was able to run about a mile without stopping so I thought that was great.  I am very, very slow but I did it.   Hopefully I will be able to go again tomorrow to get some more exercise in.  They are calling for rain but I only need about 30 min. of good weather to get some running in.  I think next time I will time myself so I can start adding more time and distance once I get a base.  Next up comes push ups and sit ups....  I can do this.....

Congrats Jamieh!  I'm hoping you'll inspire me to start running again.  I'd like to do the Race for the Cure in October and actually run it this year instead of walking it.  That will be my new goal.

I ate poorly this weekend.  DH and DS came back from their cruise in the Caribbean, and I made all sorts of DS's favorite fattening foods before he headed back to college.  I have no willpower when it comes to chicken pot pie and chocolate peanut butter mousse cake!

It's back on the bandwagon tomorrow!

I had this great long post ready to send & I lost it! I'll try to remember all I wrote.

I did not fix those cinnamon rolls this morning, but I did have the dessert at my DD's with one piece of lasagna, two helpings of salad, no dressing & no breadstick.

My youngest DD sent me these tips. She said, in part:

Excercise, excercise, excercise! Break a sweat at least 4 times a week for 30-45 mins.

         Drink lots of water.

Eat something light every few hours, an apple, a banana, a couple of crackers. Smaller meals more often help keep us more satisfied.

Do not eliminate sweets! (she sure knows about my sweet tooth!). After dinner & the dishes are done, have something sweet - a few jelly beans, a cookie, on scoop of ice cream. THEN, go brush your teeth. Then you'll be less likely to consume any more calories b/c you won't want to brush your teeth again. And, really, any calories consumed after dinner are unnecessary if you ate enough dinner to begin with.

Jaimieh ~ push-ups!?! I'm lucky if I can do one! I've always had a hard time with those.

Juannelle ~ I know what you will do with yourself. You will start anew. Tomorrow is Monday, the beginning of a new, fresh beautiful week. A new day for new beginnings.

Welcome home Suzette! Your Sat. dinner sounds fabulous, you did great!

Welcome hrf ~ Happy you have joined us.

    See you in the morning!

Valerie.....If you have the urge to eat something sweet at the lowest calorie possible, its okay.

But don't ever compare it with the real thing. WW has another dessert, that one is much satisfying and filling. I will post the picture for you

carolinachick....We are allowed to cheat once in a while.

juannelle.. For me even not gaining its an accomplishment

Jaimieh...Congratulations on your first day of running . Ones you have the energy things get better. Good for you.

hrf....We are all trying to loose some weight, whatever your goal is. Please don't be embarrassed.

Nicole...Thats a wonderful idea we have some wine or something colorful (sorry not Good with drink names) and we can eat too. you have no idea how much I'm looking forward to meet you.

I was telling DD about you. She is closer to your age than I am. She wants to meet you too if its okay with you.

All courageous ladies with these weight lost, WE STAY TOGETHER AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER>

Hugs to all of my Friends here.

Pretty proud of myself. I ate good this weekend. Strawberries were on sale so I got two packages. Yum Yum. Had some with a little scoop of sugar free choc. ice cream. Since I'm doing the no carb. diet we have been eating lots of veggies.
What do you no carb. gals do for breakfast. I've been eating Kashi cereal or Oatmeal which I know isn't the best but eggs every day with out toast is getting boring. No treadmill this weekend because we were rearranging furniture in the house and the treadmill was not easy to get to. It's set up now so today I'll do a good 45 minutes.

I eat oatmeal every morning ... throw in a diced apple and some blueberries along with some Omega 3 like Salba (or ground flaxseed if you are not worried about estrogen). It's a healthy breakfast even though it's carbs. I was reading that I should stay away from white stuff ... white rice, white sugar, white flour..... Today is my son's birthday and we are having Chinese food. That will be a challenge. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical this morning .... not high intensity but at least I moved for 30 minutes. I need to lose about 60 punds. I think Arimidex makes it more difficult than it already is.

hrf~ Way to go with the 30 min on the elliptical :)

PauldingMom~ Great job eating well and on the weekend :)  Weekends are really hard for me with eating.

I fell off the low carb wagon so bad I have a concussion! I went to a NYC gtg and ate many carbs so we will see come Friday. I am traveling for work all week too so it looks like a crash and burn week but I do my best!

PauldingMom - I just can't do the low or no carb thing.  I love my whole wheat bread!  Also, I've read that a very lowfat diet is better for triple negative ladies.  That is a little easier for me.

Omaha - it's so hard to eat healthy when you're traveling.  And there are so many good things to eat in NYC...my mouth is watering just thinking abou it!

I agree that the weekends are difficult.  But I guess we deserve to be a little more relaxed about it all on Saturday and Sunday.

Just ate my cottage cheese and apple, and heading out for my lunchtime walk soon.

    I'm little confusedEmbarassed

Oatmeal is good for you and its carb. One thing I noticed it keeps me full for few hours.

Lima Beans and peas...are they considered vegetables. legumes or starch?

On Atkins Diet (I'm not on it) you can eat bacon, red meat, on the other hand we suppose to stay away from fat and too much red meat.

I used to eat mango almost every day. I know they are high in sugar (natural sugar) does that mean I cant eat it?

    Heeeeeelp!

I've been peeking at this thread, and I noticed all the posts about low carb/no carb.

All food is protein, fat or carbohydrate.  Many foods, like peanut butter, fit in all three categories.

Lima beans, peas, lettuce, all other veggies are carbs.  Some carbs like many fruits have a higher glycemic index meaning that they are converted to sugar quickly by the body, while others contain fiber which offsets the carbs gram for gram.

Oatmeal is actually relatively high on the glycemic index, so is corn.

A no carb diet would eliminate all  vegetables, fruits, and grains.  A diet of only meat, eggs fish and cheese seems unhealthy.

Balancing your carbs with fat (slows down absorption) or fiber like that found in whole grains and many vegetables leads to a more sustainable diet.

If you check out virtually any diet or recipe book geared toward diabetics, you will find good ideas for eating low carb, and many more recent ones will include information about the glycemic index.

Oh, and all those low fat/no fat versions of foods, check the labels for the carb levels.  Even the "healthy" soups substitute sugar for the fat they leave out.  They need to get the flavor from somewhere.

I am trying to eat balanced meals and make better choices during the day.  I eat breakfast every morning now and it really helps me cut down on my snacks.  Had a very good simple dinner tonight, baked ham, asparagus, sweet potato and canned plums for dessert.  We have a large garden and orchard and we freeze and can a lot of our foods.  I am going to use less sugar this summer and play with canning with honey.  We love desserts but have been a lot better lately and having plain yogurt with our canned and frozen fruits it is very satisfying.

Seyla888 - I don't know how to explain it but those vegetables just don't have any carbs in them.  Someone else out there may have a better explanation than I do.

I am excited I weighed today and I 3 lbs more!!! Woo Hoo!! that puts me at 163.  I know it's not Friday, but I just weighed in.  Sorry :=(
