I had some catching up to do on this thread.  It looks like you (Faith) are recovering wonderfully and back living your whilwind life.  Love the pictures!

One step at a time. Elimar. One step at a time.

I went back to PT yesterday expecting to get underway, even tho I only had a 30 min segment, that they'd squeezed into the calendar.

Anyhow, she spent the entire time with further evaluation and discussion of all issues Lymphodema and measuring my arms with enormous accuracy.

I was so ready to start some "therapy".

    Patience grasshopper.

My right forearm is indeed 'bigger' than my left. She feels that it's probably due to that being my dominant hand/arm, but at least we have a starting point to keep track.

Thanks to all for your continued support!!

That means I'm 6 weeks out!

In six weeks, I think the snow on my front lawn may have melted!!!!  Nice to have goals and something to look forward to!  Happy 6 week annivy Faith.  I'm so glad you have a therapist who actually knows the importance of taking measurements meticulously and often.  Have they given you any literature about the many ways you can try to avoid lymphedema?  There tons of good info on this site if they haven't.  The important thing is to get it from somewhere, because there are many little things you can do to avoid LE.  I wish I had been informed about them, but I wasn't, so the next best thing is for me to try and help others to avoid it.  Hugs dear friend.

Tonight's when I need a 'real honest to goodness hug.'

Cut from the Jan. surgery thread, where many are going thru much.

My travails are again 'hang-nails' by comparison, but still a paper cut stings for a bit.

    Crummy buttons.

    Stomping my feet.

    Pouting.

And having peanut M&Ms for dinner if I feel like it, so there!

Today has been a hum-dinger for me, but I am home safe & sound and have read thru everyone's challenges and that has certainly put mine in perspective.

This morning I spent the morning getting totally & completely lost to track down a BC surgeon here locally in FL..... my PT "freaked out" over the appearance of my chest last week during my initial evaluation. She was able to refer me to a surgeon here...... who because she has the compassion of an angel was willing to see me.

Long story short, MY surgeon had left a staple in my incision, that I didn't discover till we were 16 hours from home down here in FL. What the..........?????? [Feel free to insert nasty word here.] My oncologist also reviewed my incision during our exit interview & he 'over-looked' it too. Yet there it was big as day upon my first shower down here.

This new, hip, young, female surgeon here removed the offending staple, put me on an antibiotic for the skin 'infection' that's resulted. She also aspirated fluid from that side where all of this was goin' on. She made her opinions of the whole thing known thru out our time together..... which was so demoralizing. DUH. There's no 'sawing-the-sawdust' in what has already been done. She wants to see me back there when I'm thru the antibiotic.

I then had an hour for lunch before going to my first 'actual' PT session. My therapist is SOOOOO gentle that I can't imagine how we will be able to make any progress in the 8 sessions I have scheduled with her. I think if you blew on your computer screen it would impact my shoulder/ROM with about as much energy as she has put me thru...... she wants to be VERY cautious -- especially after what I'd been thru this morning.

    Ye gads.

Blah, blah, blah. So I have spent another ENTIRE day in the land of BC reclaimation..... left here at nine and back at 4:30.

I am grateful that this gal was willing to see me. I trust that what she has done has not been a step backwards. We put our lives into the hands of our fellow humans and then must accept their best efforts.

    Gentle hugs Faith.

If it's any consolation.......and I doubt it is.......however, my surgeon left a stitch in where one of my drainage tubes was inserted.  It was there for......MONTHS.......a spot wouldn't heal but thankfully didn't get infected.  I finally discovered it and my rad. onch. nurse (upon our first meeting) removed it.  By this time it was deeply imbedded, she apologized saying it was going to hurt.  I said, "go for it".  She did, it hurt and felt SO much better minutes later!!

IMHO, you made great progress today.  Thankfully your PT saw there was a problem.

    Hugs galore.

It isn't in the same ball park, but some of my disolvable stitches from November 19th  are still here and poking me.  When I had my mammo last week the tech was gently placing "Me" on the pneumatic vice in which she planned to squish two inches down to a mere 1/100 of an inch...Oh, but I digress.  The tech's finger ran over one of them and she looked up at me like "What the heck do you have stuck to your boob?"  I just told her "stitches" and she said she thought she was hallucinating.  (Another Doofus moment).  14 weeks and I still have disolvable stitches that won't.  Only two or three, but that is two or three too many.

Sorry for hi-jacking your space, Faith.  I'll make you tea with honey if you'd like.

    HUGS FAITH, HUGS MEECE♥

I pulled my few remaining undissolved stitches out with tweezers.  It turns out the inside was dissolved and the stitch was just hanging there like a thorn.

Thanks, Deborye.  I have been pulling and tugging daily, no luck.  Well, I have pulled about ten over the months, but these are firm in there.  When I pull, my skin comes up an inch or so.  (I won't pull harder than that.)

Oh sh*t faith ... no wonder your FB post said you had a bad day ... I hadn't had time to read it fully earlier, but figured I'd find the news here.  I hope that a day later is giving you back some of your usual optimism and strength and courage.  Prayers for you going up and cyber hugs encircling you - gently - to help you along.  Don't be in too much of a rush for the PT sessions to show full results.  Even if those 8 sessions don't get you where you want to be, I'm sure they'll give you the tolls to get the rest of the way on your own.  Just wiggle the toes in the sand a bit more and take things slowwwwwly for perhaps a tad longer than the original plan.  Hugs Hugs Hugs.

Actually very similar...remember back when I had cellulitis, then when I started rads I had terrible swelling, and then a stitch popped out of my drain site....

Once it was taken out it was much much better.

It will all be okey dokey

I just ran across this pic on my cell phone.

This is our Faithie just maybe 2 or 3 DAYS before her surgery!!!

If you've never seen her in action, you owe it to yourself to attend one of her conferences.

Lots of positive energy.......for miles around......LOL

    Oh Coonie. My cooniest.

Did ya happen to see my blog post??

I'm wearing the cute green t-shirt that you gave me.

    AND guess what.

The Louisiana Conference is inquiring about me doing their KEYNOTE next year!!!

Greg that took us to dinner has been working on it, on my behalf.

So it looks like I'll get to return to LA again next year!!!!!

    Whoot Whoot Whoot!!!

BTW: the antibiotic seems to be working miracles on the skin-level infection. My chest is not nearly as angry as it was at the beginning of the week.

PT: ever onward. Today's my day off, will go back again tomorrow: Yippiee!!

    It's Friday!!! Seven weeks out.

I found a specialized "boobs-in-a-box" store yesterday, quite by accident. Right next to Old Navy.

Took my first peek at 'em.

Made an appointment for next week, when she has the world's best fitter coming for a training. Hoping that the infection continues in the right direction so that I am able to cross this hurdle.

Anybody got suggestions on what I should purchase??

I am amazed how well you look, not that I thought you would look bad.  But your smile has not faded one bit!  If you ever get to the West Coast I'd love to meet you in person and have some of that beautiful spirit rub off!

I think the good thing about the bi-lat is you can have anything you want, you don't have to worry about matching, and you can use the unweighted ones.

ie you can pick your bustline

I'm with Meece - different categories.  I'd get a pair that matches your body shape/size.  And I'd also get a huge pair, just for fun.  And some wigs too for dress-up.  You could dress up as Faith, femme fatale one day, Debbie does Dallas another, natural Faith the next...
