I noticed yesterday that all the snow had melted from my yard and I have jonquil and crocus leaves popping up through the ground. Can't wait for them to bloom. This morning I saw a poor robin sitting in the tree alll puffed up trying to stay warm. I bought more birdseed blocks to keep them happy.

I have hyacinths and crocus blooming in my yard.  It smells lovely to walk out my front door.

Had to chase the squirel off the bird seed blocks this morning. I tried tapping on the window and he just looked at me. I went out the back door and got around the corner before he saw me, I was about 3 ft from him before he ran. I did put some stale bread out in the yard for the squirels and birds.

We have so many squirrels in our yard, my dogs don't even scare them anymore.  I don't put out birdseed any more because the squirrels get it all.  I've nursed some geraniums since last year all along.  They are blooming and look beautiful.  My azaleas have not bloomed yet which is very unusual.  Rainy and in the 40's right now.  Think I'll scheudle a massage for later this afternoon:)

Well, inside my hibiscus is about to bloom for the first time since November ; )

There is nothing but snow all over, more to come today and tomorrow so any crocus is probably still toasty and warm under the blanket of snow - should see them sometime in March though.  by the end of the day yesterday we had a total of seven trucks stuck in our driveway throughout the day, including the huge tow truck that had to be pulled out by a huge propane truck.  Heaven help us it was a long day.

Thanks for sharing your flower stories Meece, Sheila, and Mary - it gives me hope that spring will come!

I usually have a 'brown' thumb and kill all indoor plants, but I have several dish gardens that I have kept alive since 2007. I have a couple of different varieties of peace lilies that are blooming. I have managed to keep at least one bloom going for 6 months between the different plants!

I still haven't gotten out in the yard to pick up all the sticks/branches that have blown out of the large trees this month. The weather is acutally pretty nice today, just a little bit of wind, I may get out there and pick up those branches before the next storm expected on Tuesday.

Well, here it's snowing, no it's raining, wait, it's snowing, no, no, it's raining again--well, you get the picture.  Nothin' comming up in my yard yet but wet doggy doo-doo.  Of course, it's still at least a month too soon to expect to see anything coming up yet, but still. . .

Stopped raining, but still cool.  Went for a nice walk with the DH and saw some beautiful azaleas blooming.  Air was fresh and cool.

I really want to go for a walk with Snookie this afternoon, but anywhere I could go around here would be wading, not walking.  Poor Snookie is an elderly Shepherd and does not like wading in icy water.  Serious Cabin Fever building up here!

I got up at 6:30 this morning to a beautiful sunrise. Sky was just turning pink with a gorgeous purple cloud just above the mountain. Today it will be a cool clear day.

Let's see--it's raining, no it's snowing, no it's foggy, ah, heck with it.  Gray, dreary and wet.  YUCKY.

Yesterday we hit a record for rainfall for February 27th with 1/2".  We went out in the yard before our excursion to winecountry.  It was raining, but I pulled some weeds, and it was pretty because in some areas the sun was shining enough to see my shaddow.  Sort of cheery!

Here are a few hyacinths from my front yard yesterday:

They are absolutely beautiful.  DH and I are about to go grocery shopping (now that we can get our of our snowy driveway) so I think I'll steal NM's idea and bring some hyacinth home from the store. Amazingly our grocery stores all have beautiful floral departments with nice healthy flowers and plants.

I wish I could bring fresh blooming flowers into my house. Whenever fresh flowers are brought in the office and I receive them at the front desk, I have to have them left on the other side of the room until they are picked up by the receipent, the pollen stops my head up something terrible. I do love to see them in the wild.

After church I spent part of the afternoon planting gladiolus bulbs.  I also planted a few tubers for some other flowers.  I noticed that my first poppy began to bloom today.  I also noticed that it won't be long until my ranunculas are in full bloom.  I love Spring!

4 inches of heavy, wet snow, high wind warnings, snowing big fat clumps of snow, 35 degrees.  Haven't closed schools, so I guess I've got to go to work.

    Good Monday morning!

Our snow is finally receding so you can see green ... thank the Lord.  With all that snow piled up you could not see at cross streets whether anyone else was on the road.  I am so sick of this white stuff I could scream.  If I could print really big pictures I would print scenes of spring and paste them over all the windows until the real thing showed up!!!

Yesterday had absolutely gorgeous moments of bright blue sky and sun.  Being a "coldaphobic"  I still wore a long-sleeved t-shirt, but it was very nice!

Kathleen, beautiful pictures, thank you.  Sorry for the snow NM, have safe travels to work.  Meece, hope to see some picutres of the poppy and the ranunculas when they're ready.

On my way to work this morning, between 7:10 and 7:20, I saw the most amazing huge full moon setting in the west and about 5 minutes later the most beautiful huge sunrise in the east.  We haven't seen sun in many, many days so the sunrise was even more appreciated this morning.  I was so lucky to see both - it is a good reminder to me that spring will be here soon.

We are under another winter weather advisory!!! The temps are hovering around 35 but expected to drop throughout the day and precipitation expected any time now either in the form of rain or snow and the precipitation to last at least 8 hours. The weather guessers are guessing up to 2 inches in the grassy areas before tomorrow morning but the road surfaces should be warm enough to keep from collecting on them.

Our weather guessers have called for NO precipitation for the next week.  Unbelievable!  We may even be in the 40s by the weekend.  We made it up to 38 yesterday.  This is the second day in a row we've had sun.  Again, unbelievable.  Everyone's mood is definitely brighter in Mid Michigan.

Sheila, so sorry you're getting hit again with snow!

Something amazing happened in Maine this afternoon.  This big bright ball of light appeared in the sky--so bright I couldn't look at it directly!  It made shadows beside me, my car, trees, all kinds of things.  Local folk are mystified as to what this is all about.  The meterologists on TV used a term I think I vaguely remember:  "Sunny."   Very exciting afternoon!

Glad you get to enjoy it, NM.  I went out today and bought an electronic rain gauge.  I have been using my little glass tube one, which is pretty darn accurate.  We had a downpoured for about 15 minutes this afternoon and got 1/4 inch of rain.  Guess I'd better get my new gauge unpacked and ready to work for tonight.
