right now in NC 34 degrees, snow/sleet/freezing rain on the way. Weather channel said to expect snow to start after 9:00 am (anytime now). Clouds are gathering right now.

Hubby is in upper WI ready to head back south through the storm. He may be home late tomorrow afternoon/evening. He said it was 8 degrees this morning, and he promised he was wearing his army winter tobagan, heavy coat and double layer polar fleece mittens (I made for his big hands) when he gets out of the truck.

    Hello ladies,

Back from a wonderful vacation on the Mexican Riviera - mid to upper 80s every day and sun, sun, sun.  Today in mid Michigan it's up to 12 degrees (from 8 this morning) with a wind chill of 3.  The cold front is coming through this afternoon and tonight and tomorrow are supposed to be the coldest of the winter so far.  Thankfully - no snow, just a few flurries.  Have to go out at lunch (brrrrr) to get a stupid chest x-ray for my cough (going on 2 months now so I thought the onc should probably know about it - dang nurses never call the docs when they're supposed to!!!).

Glad you had a nice warm trip, Suzette.  We'll keep our fingers crossed that there is nothing significant about your cough.

    And...you guessed it...rain. What a surprise!

My PC took a nose dive so it was in the shop for a couple of days. I need to catch up again!

Well, I got through the lastest arctic wind storm.   With an extra comforter it was a one dog night--good thing since I only HAVE one dog.  The temp is 1 degree.  Yup, one lonely degree.  But the wind has stopped and that helps a lot.  I've got branches and shingles in the back yard, but I still have power--bit of surprise there, but I'm not complaining!  In a way I'd rather have snow than arctic cold fronts and wind storms.  I don't like shoveling, but it's better than having the power out, and snow doesn't usually take the power lines down.  But, since I don't get to set the weather I guess I'll just have to suck it up and cope.

    Happy Weekend, all!

NM, you've got me shivering in my bed just thinking about that.  What would I do, I don't have a dog?  Forecast calls for light sprinkles early this morning.  We're heading over to the high desert this morning, so hopefully the weather will be nice.  I wil take some pictures and post them when we get home.  I feel like Huell Howser (Are you familiar with him on California Public TV, smithlme?)

Meece--an electric blanket is the equivalent of 3 to 4 dogs according to local lore. Another option is multiple down comforters.  In a pinch, there's always the sleeping bag under the comforter trick.

Actually, this isn't unusual weather for Maine this time of year.  I just don't like it so I whine about it a lot.   I'm looking forward to pics of the desert.  That is such an alien environment to me, but fascinating!

Good morning fellow weather reporters.  At around 9:00 a.m. we started getting a light snow - starting to stick to the grass - earlier it was just sticking to the roads and sidewalks.  Looks like someone took a sifter full of confectioners sugar and sprinkled it all over.  This was predicted to be a light dusting but its still coming down!  Anyway, its a balmy 21 degrees here

Gayle reporting from coastal SE Virginia ... we have ****SNOW****  I am so happy!  I was up and down all night looking for it to start, which it did about 3 a.m.  Total accumulation per accuweather is forcasted as 8+ inches ... we have 4 or 5 now ... it's 30 degrees ... it's still coming down softly ... it's wonderful

Kathleen - I figure you must be in the middle part of the state?

Gayle, I am also in VA - across from DC - the ground is covered and a light dusting on the shrubs.  You cannot believe the idiot crew here cleaning the walk and apartment parking lot.  One guy shoveling the sidewalks.  Other guy (did I saw "male"...) going along with snow blower, blowing back over the freshly cleared sidewalk.   I can only imagine they get paid by the hour !!!!!       Keep warm, Nancy

Reporting from mid-Michigan.  It's 18 degrees - wind chill of 7.  DH and I went out to breakfast at 8:30 am and it had climbed to 4 degrees.  We are lucky though - we have beautiful, bright sunshine.  The doggie is laying in the living room with the sun on her and the kitty cat is laying on the stair landing in front of our huge window in the sunshine.  They're actually being nice to each other - must be the vitamin D from the sun doing it to them!!!  (also the fact that they're on different levels of the house - lol)

It is 72 degrees here in Tampa, very cloudy and expecting strong storms a bit later.  There is a celebration here in Tampa called Gasparilla.  It is a yearly event celebrating when pirates came into the bay area and took over (mostly myths).  Celebration here is a parade with floats throwing out beads, etc.  Being form Louisiana, I just consider it Tampa's version of Mardi Gras.  Anyway, they almost called it off today due to the weather.  Down with this cold/crude, so it really doesn't matter.  Stay warm my sisters up north.

    That's sounds awesome Mary.

My town is going to have a Winterfest in the beginning of February.  People who want to join pay a small fee and the includes ice skating, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, our Library has functions going on as well as churches.  It is nice when communities get together.

Brrrr, East Lansing MI. is cold - 9 degrees.  Thankfully no wind chill and it's supposed to be a sunny day.

Hopefully I'll get word that I have a negative reading on my chest xray.  (Meece - keep those fingers crossed - the mind has gone crazy this weekend with all the possibilities of why I keep coughing!)

Suzette, with your permission, I'll do better than cross my fingers, I will pray for you.

Today is supposed to be cloudy but a high of 64.  Sounds okay to me since I will be inside at work all day.  If it was to be sunny, I would be a bit unhappy as the weather was dreary this weekend.

We ended up with about 6 inches of snow/sleet after it finally stopped Saturday afternoon. Sunday got up in the mid 30's for some melting, last night back to the teens. Yup, refroze on the roads.

We did get the sprinkle which were predicted for our area on Saturday morning.  We drove out of the valley to the high desert and had gorgeous weather, then back to the cloudy valley.  Our chance of frost in this area is supposed to be past.  Average last day of frost is Jan. 25th.

Northern got a "dusting" of 3-4 inches.  It was 19 degrees early this morning and now it is 27 degrees - at least the temperature is going in the right direction

Suzette - this is what I will be doing while you await test results:

Thank you for the prayers.  I'll take any that you all have to offer with much appreciation.

We haven't had much snow this winter (very unusual) - just the cold.  Makes my 20 minute drive to and from work much easier with no ice or snow on the roads.  We're up to 19 degrees now and I do think we're supposed to get a dusting of snow tomorrow.  Hoping it's not a dusting of 3-4 inches though!

    Suzette,

Prayers for a clean reading. I've had a cold, which I know is just a cold, for 3 weeks and I'm driving myself crazy with "what-ifs."

    Weather report from NorCal....rain...again!

The sky appears to be bluing up as the morning progresses.  Mixture of sunshine and clouds today with an increasing chance of rain beginning Tuesday and continuing through the weekend.

Suzette- You are in my thoughts and prayers. Hope you had a great time in Cancun. Were you able to take a side trip to Tulum? I had suggested that to you if time allowed.

We have had a dreary day with rain and drizzle so far.....however it did not stop my girl's day out of shopping and lunch.Back home now having a nice hot cup of hazelnut coffee.

The sky is definitely blue today.  If I had brought my tennies to work, I would be out for a walk right now.
