    Oh mumayan,

Mexico sounds real good right now. Its clear but cold here.

I would do anything to just be able to sit on a beach in the warm sun, with a Margarita in one hand and a taco in the other!

Hello Ladies!!  I haven't posted in a few days.  This doesn't mean I have been eating every holiday snack in sight.... (skipped to every OTHER one).  Actually I got the FLU for Christmas!  Not much intake of food of anykind, and hope to start Monday off to a good start by not making up for lost Snacks! lol  HOPE EVERYONE HAD A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS WEEKEND!!! OXOXOXO

    Hi Ladies,

Had a restful Christmas with hubby and kids.  Ate more goodies than I should have but fortunately, when I got on the scale this morning(I was scared, lol) it remained the same.  Yeah, didn't gain weight. Now I wonder what I did right?  I did manage to walk a bit but not like I wanted to, I'm still very tired.  I knew that after this go around I would be more tired but geez!

I need to get back on track with the diet or I'll be back into old habits before too long.  I can't wait til New Year's Day for the pork and sourkraut.  I do believe that's good for you and I love it.  I don't know why we only have it about twice a year but maybe that's why it tastes so good.  My downfall with it though is putting the sourkraut on mashed potatoes so I will have to limit the spuds!

The sun is finally shining here now so I think I will go out for a walk and then come home and take a nap.  Take care ladies.

Hi all.  Well, I'm up 2 from the holiday but that's still down 3 from 2 weeks ago so I'll take it, for now.

Took my last vacation day today so made myself go to the gym and did 45 mins running and another 30 minutes aerobic, all in the pool.  It felt good and I really want to push myself to do it several times a week.  Eating over the holiday was not the best and won't promise it will be any better the rest of this week.  But I'm not going to make any resolutions that end within 3 days, will just try and adopt a healthier lifestyle for 2010 and beyond.  It helps to know that diet and exercise is a major key to keeping healthy.  My hip has had me on extra-strength tylenol 2X/day for over a week and I'm tired of it.  Before I go the doctor route with shots and whatever else, want to see if exercise will help (and weight loss if possible).  I think it may be easier if you have a tangible goal and mine is the hip.

    patoo,

I think you brought up an important point. The last year I have been so focussed on weight loss. It drove me crazy and if I was to go up on the scale I would bash myself and then I'd feel worse.

I have decided to stop having the weight loss as the major goal and replace it with a different goal. My personal goal, is to be able to go for a run for 30 min. I think I already mentioned earlier that Im alternating running and walking right now, doing a program called Coach Potatoe to 5km in 8 weeks.

Im now focussed on accomplishing that goal not loosing weight, and as the weeks go on and my running becomes easier...I will feel better. And by training for this, I will loose weight and tone anyways.

I still want to try some aqua aerobics.Hopefully in the New Year when I have some afternoons to myself ( my 4yr old is starting pre school) :)

Ha lexi, you have a 4 yr old - forget about any time to yourself (except maybe 3 am) for the next 14 years at least!  Sorry to bust your bubble.

Seriously, that's a great, and attainable, goal.  This time next year we will both feel so much better and I challenge anyone to try and catch us then.  Smile

    LOL. patoo!

I think you right. I was at a dinner last night, and talking with some friends who's children are between 6-14yrs. There is always something to do! Take to school, pick up and of course after school activities.  Ect...

My daughter is only 4, but Im already looking forward to her getting her drivers license.

Hi Ladies and Happy New Year,

I fell off the food wagon over the holidays, so now I am ready to get started again on Jan 1. I will be afraid to weigh myself but I must do it. I need to lose about 10-12 lbs and tone also. The day is here to start.

    Take Care,

    Kerry

Wishing all my weight loss sisters a Happy New Year !!

Im starting up big tomorrow. Ive decided to do a 30 day clense/detox. I also brought out my juicer from the dungeon to get started up again. The goal of this is to kick start my weight loss and rid my body of toxins. I will also be starting up 5-6 days a week in the gym mixing cardio and weights.

Lets all get motivated, the holidays are over and its a brand new year. Theres only 5-6 months untill beach season!!!!! Smile

I am afraid that I read this forum and I am a lurker. I don't feel that I have that much to say but I do enjoy your posts.

Well I made it through the holidays without any weight gain.  I figure that is an accomplishment.  I have friends who do not understand that I gained 30 pounds during chemo and want to lose it--one sent me a gallon can of brownies (gave it to the cat sitter); another sent me a tin of chocolate pecan candies (will have hubby take that to the office).  I hesitate to say anything to them but I am finding it annoying.  Even if I was not watching my weight, the quantity of brownies was ridiculous! My birthday comes at the end of the month and I am dreading the gifts for it (the brownie giver sent me a cheese cake last year with each tiny piece having more than 300 calories). Anyway I figure just sending those goodies away is a step in the right direction.

Living in the downtown area of a city, even alot of snow is not that much. My house is just 20 feet wide so that is the sidewalk/driveway area we have to shovel. Usually some teenaged boys will stop by and shovel (for pay).  Of course with the 23 inches we had recently, no one came by so hubby did the job.

Anyway, I lost 7 pounds right away and now I am sitting with the extra 23 pounds to lose. I want to lose them for health reasons.  I am giving myself a reasonable exercise plan---a 3 mile brisk walk for 5 or 6 days a week (and two days off so I don't have to feel guilty if I don't get out).   And, I will keep a food diary and see if there are things that I am eating that I don't think about.    If I set too high a goal, I just give up.

Wishing you gals a wonderful new year!

Hi Mandy, for sure we cannot set a goal that is too high because we will get frustrated very early.  My goal is just to lose what I can, when I can; get in shape and tone.  I would like to lose 30 lbs but if I just exercise, also 5 days a week, I will be fine with that as I know that will make me feel better.

So, everybody, let's make this a journey about health.

    Hello ladies.

I am on my last treatment for chemo...taxol....and then radiation.  I have a lot of weight to lose.  If I can lose this weight I can drastically reduce my chances of recurrence, especially since I am triple negative.  I would like to join this great group of ladies with the goals of being healthy.

I have over 100 lbs to lose so this is not a short term endeavor.

My name is Anita, I am 42 years old and happily married.  I have a beautiful 15 yo daughter and live in the DC area.

Tomorrow is the start of my new life.  Oh and Monday is my last treatment.  I normally have pretty severe bone and joint pain on day 3 after treatment.

Welcome Anita!  10 lbs or 100 lbs - we all will look only at one pound at a time!  That's a doable goal so don't look at the long term, take small steps.  I must say though that there are going to be days, many days, when you will have to push yourself to get moving - it's not easy.

Health is so important, I wonder if you can motivate your dd to join you in whatever exercises you choose, even if just to take a walk with you each day.  Not only will that make you 2 even closer but it may help her to view exercise as important from an early age.  And if you can get your dh to join you both it can be a family affair!  How fantastic would that be.

Okay, took a short break from vacuuming (did 2 levels+steps of 3 level townhouse so far); rested my hip so is feeling  a little bette,r so will do the last set of steps and 3rd level, take another break then steam clean kitchen, DR and LR.

    More later.

Hi Patoo and thank you so much for the welcome.  Here is the funny (or not so funny) thing.  My husband and daughter are in phenomenal shape.  My daughter runs track and plays field hockey.  She is the most athletic person I have ever met.  My husband ran track in college and still works out on a daily basis and he is also in great shape.  I used to sit and watch them workout.  The go running and I used to just sit on the couch and cheer them on when they returned.  Isnt that just ridiculous?!  Meanwhile I just kept getting fatter and fatter.

My DH and DD have both offered to walk to with me and workout with me.  In the past I never took them up on their offers.  But that has changed.  We are doing this as a family and I have teh full support of hubby and dd.  My husband is throwing away all unhealthy foods.  I am so blessed to have their support, but what I have realized is that I need to be the one who wants it and makes the effort.

I am in no rush to lose this weight.  I want to do it right and keep it off.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

    Anita

    Hi, all!

I'm back on the wagon!  Gained 4 lbs from the holidays, but have to lose 20 lbs before my surgery.  A little discouraged.  I'm not very good at this.

I exercised two days ago...thought it was great, but LOL, OMGosh, the backs of my legs are SO SORE!  Really annoying!

Hiya cake - wondered where you were.  Don't be discouraged.  Take if one pound at a time and the legs will just have to get used to it!

I ate myself silly at a buffet today and did not exercise at all.  Probably won't.  But I did 6 days in a row so I'm okay.  Probably will wait until next weekend to weigh.

    Everyone have a great week.

Thanks.  I did do pretty well at the buffet, started with a big salad and then stuffed myself with carrots, corn, string beans and fish.  2 small pieces of baked chicken.  Of course I couln't pass up 2 dinner rolls and then topped it off with carrot cake (hey, it was more carrots!).  Could have been worse - no fried foods or red meat.

No, didn't get on treadmill and now I'm going to bed.  Maybe I can sleep off the extra pounds. LOL

    Nighty, night.

Hi All!!  Well, I took some time off and pigged out for a week, but now I need to get serious again! :)  Actually I haven't noticed much weight gain.... jeans fit the same.  I don't step on the scale, only at the doctors office, so maybe I have.  Anyway, like I said, I need to take it serious again!!!  I am 41 but feel like I'm 81!  No energy but also no excuses!  I feel good but lazy!!

I'm back on the bandwagon, too, after eating with abandon over the holidays.  I'm so hungry today, even though I've eaten a good amount of healthy food already.  I'm heading off to the gym during my lunch hour.  I keep telling myself that I need to do this for my health, but my motivation isn't there.  If anyone sees it wandering around, could you send it back my way?

    Hi Ladies!

It's been about three weeks since surgery and starting to get back into the swing of things.  Still can only do walking but that's ok.  I do miss doing the aerobics because it did give me more energy.  I got on the scale yesterday and it said I lost 1 pound, I'll take it!  I just hope the scale won't change it's mind. lol  I'm not getting on it again until next week!   I'm just so glad I didn't gain any throughout the holidays since I had my fair share of cookies and stuff.  Glad all of the goodies are gone for now, makes the willpower easier.

As for today, well, I called my DD and had lunch with her at Olive Garden but then walked around the mall for a bit.(it is absolutely freezing here) Hopefully we walked enough to cover the meal.  I bought a pair of those sketcher shoes so I'll have to see if I notice a difference wearing them.  Some people say yes, others say no.

Have to go buy a new bed tonight so may be going out for dinner.  Need to eat something on the lighter side.  Hey, we're looking at those tempur-pedic beds- anyone have one?  Heard they are the best selling bed now.  I tried a few the other day and they seemed comfy but, you know, you only lay on them for a few minutes.  If anyone has any insight on these I'd be greatful to know about it.

Looking forward to a great new year.  Motivation will be tough but I plan on coming back to these threads for help.  Keep positive thoughts going!

    Take care,

    Kelley

Sorry carolinachick, if I see it, it's gonna be tacked onto mine cause you had no business letting it get away.  I need as much motivation as I can grab so watch out everybody it's open season on missing motivation.

Kelley, let me know how those sketchers feel.  I looked at them but didn't try them on.  Not sure I wanted to put that much money into them.  They're only supposed to help you tone, not lose - or that's what the paperwork seemed to imply.  Probably their way of covering up.  But even toning up is good.

Hi everyone, good to have you all back.  Misery loves company!  But we can do this, right?

I will be starting South Beach diet tomorrow.  I looked into WW and other programs but feel this one is the best for me.  I have to cut out sugars and high fat foods.  I not only have to do this because I am tirple negative but I also do not have a gall bladder.  So lowfat no sugar diets are best for both issues.  I am ready to start anew.  I have always put others before myself.  What BC has taught me is that if I do not take care of myself, I will not be here to take care of my family.  I have to put my health first.  It is NOT an option anymore.

So with that I am determined to make a difference in this New Year.  I can not continue to be overweight.  It drastically increases my risk for recurrence of cancer.  I wiill do anything it takes to not have cancer return.

Well I am doing a food diary and it is really a help.  It makes me stop and think before I put something in my mouth that should not be there (like the corn chips I started to snack on).  If nothing else, it will get me into a healthy eating pattern just from the shame of writing it all down.

It still is so cold here that I do not think I will get outside to walk. Later today I will put on an exercise DVD and do that for 30 to 40 minutes.  I just need to get in the habit of exercising.

    Have a nice day everyone.

OK, Had my date with Richard (Simmons) this morning again.  Actually bought all of the "Sweating" DVD's in December cause it feels more like dancing and less like excercising!  Actually ate vegetable soup for lunch!  Choking down another bottle of water too!  Now if I can only keep this up for the next few months!!! lol
