Thanks for that information. No, I'm Facebook shy.
But it's good to hear she's mending. Yes, there are lots of slippery slopes in life, particularly this time of year.
My best to you all,
Tender

((((((((((Judie)))))))))) - what a sad anniversary but what a wonderful way to remember your dear son. I love Pink Floyd and particularly that album - bought it when I was a teenager.
Cathi - I love, love love the photos! Please post more whenever you feel like it. Such beautiful grandchildren and I too am enjoying a vicarious Me-Ma experience. I hope I will be a grannie one day too...
Nettie - it's so great to hear you sounding better. I can't wait for your rads to be over and for your health and strength to return.
I'm thinking of all my dear sisters on this sight. Many of you are no doubt too busy to post this week. I must go and continue with my Christmas preparations too but am just having a rest after a walking shopping trip. I have been so sleepy the last couple days - I slept in until 9.30 yesterday morning - I usually wake at about 5!

Karen I had a few moments of insanity on Saturday holding her, my gosh I am going to be 50 in June, and not for a VERY LONG TIME have I thought OH A BABY I WANT ONE, well I did on Saturday most of the day, I kept teasing Ed about it, I think he was ok with trying to make one, LOL, if we ever had time - LOL. Maybe just me thinking a baby would make me immortal. I am making bananna bread and chocolate chip cookies this evening, still have a lot of baking to do, I way over bake for Christmas week, but Ed takes a bunch in for his guys to nipple on all week, Amanda has a request for Molasses cookies, never have made those, but Ed has a recipie his mom used to make so he's gonna do those Monday night.
Shelia Ed and I don't spend a lot on each other, we do get gifts - trinkets mainly just so that everyone has something to open, last year I got him a set of Books called BATHROOM READERS something like that, Trivia, sports, etc, He loves things like that in what he calls his LIBRARY - LOL
-
WOW mouse MD got more snow than MA.
1Cathi, are those your grand kids? Gorgeous♥
Everyone,
-
Yes they are my grandkids, and THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Merry Christmas to you as well.
-
Lol! Cathi - you made me giggle. You wrote that your dh's workmates like to "nipple" on your biscuits! Love it!!
-
I mean cookies! We use the term biscuits for what I think you call cookies.
-
Oh, how Freudian, Cathi! Made my day! So did your beautiful granddaughters. Wonderful gifts. I make molasses crinkles for Christmas every year, along with cutout sugar cookies, cherry balls, Hello Dollys, Peanut butter cups, and million dollar fudge. We used to also do spritz and marzipan truffles and others, but you gotta' cut back somewhere!
Yes, how many families would gather for dinner at a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant for dinner followed by LOUD Pink Floyd accompanied by dizzying light patterns to memorialize a somber occasion? MY family does and I LOVE it!!!!
Sheila, your gifts for Don sound perfect. What fun to sometimes get a surprise that's not a necessity! Let us know what he thinks. What is the British TV series? Some of them are priceless.
"listen" to Pink Floyd in your head during rads, Nettie. It would be perfect!
Must run...love to all!

My youngest son just rang me and told me he's moving to the US with his girlfriend. She has been out here for about 6 months and was going to study to be a teacher here. She has just found out that her sister has advanced ovarian cancer and so she wants to move back to be with her. It's so sad. Her sister has 3 young children and is divorced. My son's gf is a lovely girl - kind, intelligent and beautiful so I can understand why he wants to be with her and to give her his support. I'm selfishly sad that they are both leaving. I'm going to have to buy regular lottery tickets as I now have a big reason to visit.
I want to make this a really good Christmas for my family as who knows when we will all be together again...
-
Hello everyone. Just dropped to say Merry Christmas!!!! Cathi, the children are beautiful. Nettie, I hope you are feeling ok. Hello to Karen, Barbe, Judy, Sheila, Mel, Sue, and everyone. I have been down and can;t stop crying and everything seems to get to me but when I came here to read up on everyone and what's going on, I feel much better and to be a memeber of such an elite group is absolutely wonderful!!!!!
-
I really have to start proof reading my posts better- LOL and spell check, I am usually rushing through and don't even bother - not the best typer even though I spend hours and hours doing it.
Leeza nice to see your post, wishing you and your family a MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Jane sorry about your son leaving, I am sure you will have a GRAND Christmas.
Judie I am already so sick of cookies and dough - I NIBBLE (Spelled correctly) to much as I bake. Today I did snicker doodles, peanutbutter cookies with Chocolate kisses, not sure what Tuesday will bring, I wonder if your Cherry Balls are what my mom used to make, she made a pastry type dough that she wrapped around a cherry, baked and then rolled in confectionary sugar, they were my favorite, I have never found her recipie nor one that came close, I wish I could. We are changing up Christmas Eve /Day dinner, with everyone staying here on Christmas Eve we are going to do our big meal then and Christmas day amid presents we will have a light breakfast, and thhere will be plenty of food left to munch on all day. So far planning on ham, shrimp, Lasanga, annd a whole slue of side dishes, I am really into it now, this is going to be a Christmas like no other, like Thanksgiving it is the first time I had both DD's in 11 years.
Ella is doing well, stopped in this AM, she is sounding quite "gurggly" Amanda has to take her in to DR in the AM, her Jaundice which was never all that bad but you could tell, is all gone,
I am off to empty the dishwasher then off to bed.
Good night all. XOXOXOXOXOXOXO

You need another baking project, Cathi.
These are actually very easy.
Cherry Bon Bon Cookies 3-4 dozen
1 cup soft butter
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla or ½ teaspoon almond
½ cup evaporated milk or light cream
3 cups flour
½ teaspoon saltCandied cherries, cut in half. (can use a caramel or chocolate kiss instead)
Mix butter and powdered sugar with electric mixer
Add flavoring and salt. Mix well
Add milk and flour alternatelyForm a small ball of dough, press a cherry half into it, close dough over the cherry, then roll in hands back into a ball.
Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet
Roll in powdered sugar while still warm, or frost when cool with a mixture of 1 ½ cups powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons cream, and 1 teaspoon vanilla beaten together

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! EEEVERY ONE! I miss you all, I have been sooo busy, my grandaughter is stuck in MILAN and can't get home until Christmas Day at 6pm. She is heartbroken. Oh well, all else is doing okay, hugs and kisses to you all! Shirlann
-
MERRY CHRISTMAS Shirlann, sorry GD will be delayed, but at least she will be there later in the evening. Judie thanks for the recipie, I am going to try yours, hopefully I will have time Wednesday.
Ella had to go into DR this AM, she had a terrible night breathing. DR said she is quite congested, has her on some meds, he wants Amanda to keep her in her infant chair to sleep for the next few days, her bassanet is elevated, but doesn't think that is enough. She needs to be as upright as possible, we both looked at Dr funny when he said sleep in the seat, but as he explained, she was all curled up in a ball upside down and evey which way for months, she will be fine for a few days. She doesn't have a cold, her chest/lungs are just all full of crap. Poor thing.

Just got a package from Ed's sis & BIL in PA (LOVE THEM SOOOOOOOOO MUCH) we always send each other goofy gifts. I collect hats, so she sent me this one, and always give BIL SpongBob PJ's (he loves sponge Bob)

Cathi, love the picture.
The tv show that donald has looked for is 'My Hero' sort of a British version of Mork & Mindy with the guy being a space alien with super powers Thermo Man. When my son was communicating with a girl from England, we asked her if she could find it for us but she never said if she did. We did find it at Barnes and Nobel in the British TV section of DVD's. I left the DVD with my sister, the last time I bought a set of DVD's for Donald as a Christmas present, I hid it so well in the house that I couldn't find it until Valentine's day. She guaranteed that she wouldn't lose it and give it back in time for his birthday next month.

Wishing everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS, I expect most of us will be very busy the next few days, so getting my wishes in now while I have a spare moment. I have been cooking and preping all day for Christmas Eve feast, think I am finally done for the evening. I am so full from a nibble here and a nibble there, when its all set out and ready to eat I won't want a thing. Have to run out early in the AM to get the fresh Shrimp (from Crabby's Nancy).
MERRY CHRISTMAS DEAR FRIENDS - XOXOXOXOXOXO
-
Merry Christmas to all. Cathi the picture is really cute and I am so glad little Ella is doing ok. I just wish her lungs could clear up. What the docor ordered - sitting in the car seat - is not unusual for an infant with congestion. If she does get any better, please do not hesitate to have her recheck, have they done a chest x-ray to be sure there is no pnuemonia? She is really a beautiful baby as well as Alexis.
Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year!!! Mel, any words of wisdom for the new year? How about you Judy?

See, I won't be TOO busy....sigh. I have to work today, but at least the store closes at 4 so I get home 2 hours earlier. Then on Christmas I'll be all alone and have to go to bed early as I have to be at work on Boxing Day at 5:30 AM!!!! I don't get another day off until Tuesday, then I get to see my kids on New Years Eve.
So if anyone else is alone tomorrow, I'll see you here on the boards.
