"she's posted a fabulous beautiful thoughtful valid post " .. that my Rachel is what the thank you was for - validation is priceless :D

As for the cursing / G_d / prayers stuff - you told me once about the G_d thing and that is what I do now, out of respect for you.  I'm not religious at all but greatly accept prayers and any thing spiritual if it given with love and respect.  Tolerance could save the world.

It is 40 degrees celcius - which is about a million degrees farenheit and I have spent the morning selling stuff at the community garage sale.  Made 80 bucks, but got rid of a shcrikeyit load of crap.  Melting now.

Leggy great idea about the porn (and veeerry funny) however not only do I now have to initiate sex I also have to get creative vocally.  Oh man - if only I could remember what I used to do 20 years ago he he he he.  :P

    Whew.

Boy do I have a lot of catching up to do.

HAPPY DANCE  for chelev, PattiB and everyone who's NED.

Rachel and I had a great time. Now I'm waiting for her to post the pics we took. No, we didn't do the handshake (well, I DID warn you guys) but we did a variation on it.

Off to Los Angeles on Mon am. Will see my parents and sisters there.

This will be the first time I will be in the U.S. for Thanksgiving since I was 21. That's 37 years!!!!!!!

WTF, we can't swear?  Shit.  Hey Rachel, I thanked you for the wig idea!  I only wore it a few times, when I went back to work, after chemo. Then I went back to hats.  But wearing a wig for fun, might be fun.

The house sitting for a friend, is going well.  Wolfie is getting along fine with my friends dog, so I think next weekend, with the ex's dogs, will be stress free...if ya know what I mean, wink wink.

woohoo- got this from my Senator... and i did NOT write to him about this.  I signed a petition against the bailout.  Anyway, check out the LAST paragraph!

    Dear Friends,

The Congress is continuing its work to try to get healthcare reform legislation, and I believe the prospects are reasonably good that we will produce a bill. I hope that the bill will have the public option - and a robust public option. We will have a cloture vote tonight and I believe that we should be able to get 60 Senators at least to agree to start the debate.

Click below to hear my take on healthcare reform

It would be my hope that my colleagues would not draw lines in the sand or stay in inflexible positions. We need to move ahead, and doing nothing is not an option. The problems of so many millions of Americans uninsured and the problems of the rising healthcare costs makes it imperative that action be taken.

I think that the bill which has been proposed is a very, very good start. It is obviously subject to amendments and some modification. But the total cost has come in at about $850 billion over 10 years and is projected to save about $130 billion to reduce the deficit. In the second decade it is projected to save even more, up to as much as $650 billion. President Obama has committed not to sign a healthcare bill which adds to the deficit, and I’m committed not to vote for a healthcare bill that adds to the deficit.

It is my hope that the bill will emerge with very strong provisions on preventative care. That includes annual examinations without additional costs and encouraging people to have the annual exams to catch many problems at their early stages, like heart disease or ailments, before they develop into debilitating and expensive chronic diseases. I disagree with the recent recommendations to cut back on mammogram screenings or pap smears. I think that early detection is vital and well worth the cost. I can tell you from my personal experience: an MRI detected a brain tumor the size of a golf ball between my skull and my brain back in 1993. It could have been a very, very serious matter had that early detection not occurred.

Healthcare reform is vital and we’re determined to get a good bill.

    Sincerely,

    Arlen Specter

Didn't know it bothered Rachel, but remember when a G--d----t really upset a couple of people on another thread so have cringed when I see it.  Don't care where the thread goes as long as we all can find each other.  Now that I get it I love the Crikey.  I can even say just that word and it feels like swearing.  I'm with Helena, not devoted myself, but believe tolerance is an important value.

kmmd- yes I feel the same.  2 friends of mine on BC.org (separately) used g-dd--amn in their posts and people gave them such poop, one left BC.org for good and the other was going to but came back sorta.  I absolutely agree its about tolerance.

OK I am confident now to take the  mods up on their generous offer- as long as the whole thread moves so we can stay together.

Yes, I'm (more than) fine with swearing, and I love the creative euphemisms, as well.  Rachel, thanks for investigating and being such a do-er with this super thread!

First time to this thread and wanted to say HI.  I love the hair progression pix!  I was looking strangely like my grandfather (I come from a long line of hair-challenged Italians but up to now they've all been men...) but I'm starting to look like a girl again.  When I go to yoga class at The Wellness Community sans wig, people want to rub my head - is that a breast cancer rite of passage or something?  I'm looking forward to life without tugging on my wig - I think my head is too big (which could explain many things).  Am livid about the mammo guidelines (got that "unnecessary" age 51 mammogram and BINGO!) but still very thankful this year for friends and being better and finishing radiation the day the guidelines came out.  Thanksgiving blessings to all of you!

A student of mine who moved here from New Zealand said crikey was the US American equivalent to sh*%.  This student is a teenager and since they are bullet proof and know everything, I am going to lean his way for the explanation.  If you doubt me, talk to my teenager dd; she knows everything and I am still embarrasing to her.

I think crikey  also is one of those emphasis type words-the softer you use it , it's like "WOW" as kmmd suggested and the louder with deliberation becomes more of an explicative.  I haven't read everyone posts, but I enjoyed reading the creative versions used  to express feelings. Hilarious and straight to the point.

Serena030309--Ikwym about the rubbing of the head.  It happens to me and I am 28 weeks out since PFC .   It drives me crazy.

For some reason its like people patting your stomach when you're pregnant, its like you give up a part of your personal space. My hair is now long enough that people think I just have really bad taste in haircuts, but those who know about the chemo still rub my head.

BTW, what does friggin replace?  It is two syllables and that sort of takes away the beauty and power of one syllable emphasis, but I like it.  Gutteral because of the "g"?

Regarding the mammo petition-I got nuttin from our senators at this point after I signed the mammo petition.  Plus, I am a huge fan of the fed senators from Michigan; so I am disappointed.

I also apologize to anyone who is offended by the swearing thing.  I don't think I have every used G^% D&^% on this post.  I usually don't just because it sounds alien to me....not allowed in our house when I was a kid growing up.  I am not a big swearer in general, but since my dd heard me say a couple of words, she won't stop.  That has been the source of a couple of Loooooong conversations I have had with her about picking the places to swear.

Oh happy day no Sunday School.

Hope all are doing good this cold, cold morning in the east. I had a very heavy frost this morning on my car.  BRRRRRRR!!!!! But on the brightside, the sun is shining, so I really can not complain. Tuesday is the one year mark for my biopsy and Dec 4th is my canerversary!!!!!! What a Crickey year it has been. So many ups and downs. Thanks to all of you I have made it this far!

Rachel, if you move the thread, just PM me so I can follow you and add it to mt favorites! I am cool with anything. My view is to each her own. Live and let live. If someone is upset and needs to vent so be it! Sometimes the "F" word is the only word that can really describe these horrible feelings from the treatment and after effects of treatment and day to day life!. Not that I curse in everyday life, considering I have children and work with autistic children( who sometimes only repeat what they hear) I try to find other ways to vent!!! SERIOUSLY! is a favorite word.

Well I hope every one enjoys the day.

    explicative is an explanation

expletive is  profane expression.  Okay, enough already.

yes just tell us where to find "us" and we'll be there.

Interesting on the use of "crikey"--I thought it just meant something similar to "wow". Also remember learning that "bloody" (from the Brits) is actually a pretty bad word (or rather adjective).

How about "merde"--french for poopy. Then you can actually say "pardon my french"...ha! :)

OK bad to cleaning and organizing for my in-laws arrival tomorrow night. Also started making Christmas cards!! Have a good rest of your day ladies...

I am now watching the Jets vs. Pats. I will open a bottle of wine and relax!!! When we are off on Friday, I will rearrange my furniture, so I can put my tree up next Sunday!

    Have a marvie day!!!!!!

This is such a busy site .... if I don't check for a day, I've got lots of catching up to do. Chelev, great news about NED. Sorry about the "men" issues for so many of you - I've got a story too but without going into details, there is currently no man in my life - he pretty much disappeared when bc came. I'm ok with moving this thread as long as I'll know where to find it. Today in Toronto, the temperature was very spring like and many people were outside walking. I grabbed my Nordic poles and walked a couple of kilometers with them. Then went to buy some fish for dinner and ran into the nurse from my surgeon's office. My most fun this weekend was spending time with my grandchildren - 4 3/4 year old boy and 2 1/2 year old girl. They like me just the way I am .. they don't complain and are always happy to see me. I think grandkids are the reward for putting up with 3 teenage boys who finally grew up.

hello, ladies, one and all -- sounds like everyone is pretty busy. The holidays are almost upon us and although I dread the hard work, I also realize if I weren't so particular (or as DH says O/C), I could put up half of the Christmas decorations I do and it would still look fine. (I have about 4 trees, so that gives you an idea of the extent of my compulsion). And then I'll probably volunteer to put up my Mom's tree, too, as I don't think she has the stamina for it anymore.

Rachel, I'm with everyone else, I'll follow wherever you take us. I don't swear a lot, and I don't mind others doing it, but realize some may be offended. It even dawned on me that some might find "OMG!" offensive, so for that I apologize -- it's one of my favorite expressions so I'll try to find another way to express my disappointment or amazement. I do love that "CRIKEY!" word, though, and like Mary, use "Seriously?" often, probaby too much. Seriously.

Went to a jewelry show at my niece's house today. The artist lives in Cozumel and travels around doing arts/crafts festivals and occasional home shows. There were tables loaded with beautiful necklaces, bracelets and earrings -- as IF I needed any more jewelry....but I bought some, anyway ~~of course it was for my niece's benefit~~but also included one or two gifts in with that.

Hey, Allie, I'm guessing you make handmade cards?  I do, too -- am debating about whether I want to make handmade Christmas cards again this year. It takes SO much time but I love sending them so guess I'd better make a decision here pretty quick. And it seems I always manage to pick out the most labor intensive card to create....

oh yeah -- CONGRATS, Patti B!!!! great news!! and Leah, hope you are enjoying your time back in the good ol' USA. WOW! can't imagine being gone that long.

Cricky!! Take the weekend off and a can’t keep up. I always thought Cricky meant wow too. Regarding G—damn, I also cringe when I hear that but I have no problem saying F#@k crazy, I Know. It stems from Baptist church when I was young. ….using the lords name in vain…. OMG doesn’t bother me though. I’m more than open to moving to another place. It’ll be interesting to see how it works. If it doesn’t work out we can invent some really fun words. Rachel, I also think someone has a vendetta against you and we know who that is. I’m can’t even stomach going back to the old thread. I don’t think that’s her photo either.

Guess who had sex this weekend??? I guess that bothered me more that I thought. Thank you for letting me vent. It gave me a chance to process every angle of this mess this past year. We talked for several hours about how we felt why it’s so difficult to get back to normal. He pointed out that I hide myself when naked and he’s in the room and many other situations I wasn’t aware of. It ended with really awkward sex and lots of laughs. “Clean out the cobwebs” and so on. This will be a work in progress for both of us. Just like the wig thing Rachel mentioned, I’m looking forward to the confidence the new boobs will give me. What really surprised me was that it hurt. Use it or loose it they say.

Rachel, I couldn’t get Wig Advice to work.

Chelev, PattiB and everyone who's NED congrats.

Hi all, I'm officially on a Tamox-vacation. Dr pulled me off this morning due to the swelling in my neck. He thinks it may have been due to the Tamoxifen. Blood tests also show that my blood is not clotting normally. So, I've been prescribed an aspirin a day for the next 2 weeks until my next appointment. Leave it to me to be in that 1% that gets the bad SE's !! Don't know what I'll do if I have to be taken off forever...Frown

Sex...what's that. I don't even bother anymore, it's been so long! Congrats Renee on getting rid of some cobwebs! Congrats to Patty B !

As for a new forum...hey, I'll follow if I'm invited Smile Seems the old forum has been taken over.
