Me too. I'd love to say that right now things seem bigger than they are and everything will be okay soon, but I can't. Things are huge. You are a tiny woman with a huge spirit, but someimes life dishes out a helping of misery that just can't be swallowed. The only way to cope is like the old saying, "How do you eat an elephant? ...One bite at a time." It seems maybe time for a get-out-of-the-house day or weekend. No phones, no kids, no grandkids, not even Margo. An all-out day at the spa. Girlfriends. Dancing. Whatever nurtures and heals Cathi.

Do you have any concept of how many are holding you through this my friend? You can't lose!

    Love and nurturing hugs,

    Judie

I have a bit of good news. I had my breast ultrasound today. She took pictures of 4 definitely "scary" black things and then paged the radiologist. He finally came in and took one look and said "That's a benign node, that's nothing, that's normal breast tissue ... welll, you know what I mean (he said! cause I have no breasts!), and that's nothing." He was very hurried so I said "Can I take that to the bank?" and he said "sure". So I consider my chest to be cancer free.

    Bone scan tomorrow....

I'm with you, Wren.  It infuriates me too!  I also agree with Judie, though, that better diagnostic tools need to be used.  BSE saved my life.  My cancer was so aggressive, my onc told me that it had been there four months, tops, when I found the lump.  Scary.

Sue - how are you?  I hope your pain decreases soon. Lots of love and hugs to you.

Barbe - I'm so thrilled you got the all clear with your mammos! My prayers and good thoughts for an uneventfully boring bone scan.

Heatwave here - so hot I can barely think.

    Love to everyone.

Great news Barbe, Cathi, still thinking about you and your family hoping all will settle down soon. Sue hope that your leg is healing nicely. Just look at it this way, you won't have to worry about all the craziness in the shop over Christmas. Jane yesterday was cool and drizzly all day, hopefully today will clear off some.

My doctors office called last night at 6:30 (they have evening hours) to say that my pap was abnormal and the doctor wants me to come back in 3 months for a recheck. I am hoping that this abnormal results are just from an infection, if they thought it was more than that they would be seeing me sooner - - right? I forgot to ask them for a copy of the report to file with AFLAC on my wellness benefit.

Great news Barbe,  I know the bone scan will be good news too.  Sue my dear rest-rest-rest.

Thank you all so much for your support and kind words,  I have had to make some major decisions this week regarding my recent scans and findings,  and it has not been easy,  but I feel now  for this time I have choosen correctly espically after hearing of Ellas new problems this AM,  her fluid level is extremely low,  Amanda is to be off her feet from now until Tuesday (see's Dr again) Ella's little heart is under a great deal of stress right now, every movement Amanda makes ads more stress to her. So as I know you will please pray for this little girl who so deserves to be born healthy and thriving. SIL works everyday as he must along with everyone else in the family,  my job allows me the leisure to come and go ,  with a lap top I can do it from anywhere,  so right now I am it for Amanda,  if I do not watch her like a hawk she will be up and about,  lugging garbage and laundry,  chasing Landen,  theres no way she can possibly stay off her feet 24/7.

So I am gonna hold off on starting Zometa right now,  I can't afford any SE that would keep me from being there for her.  Onco although not pleased with this,  he was guite understanding,

Cathi, I know everyone has a different reaction to meds, but I have to share with you that for me the Zometa was very easy. It took about 30 minutes to get me hooked up and to do the infusion. I had absolutely no reaction and just carried on with my normal routine. The only thing they told me to do was drink lots of fluid to move the drug out of my system. So, if Zometa is being recommended, please do consider doing it right away. Your daughter and grandchildren need you long term. (((Cathi)))

I'm sorry to hear about your abnormal pap smear results, Sheila.  I agree that they'd want to follow up with you sooner if they thought it was something serious.  Hang in there!

Cathi, I'm really worried about you now.  Please tell us what's going on so we can support you!  You, Amanda, and Ella are in my prayers.

Sheila, it's unsettling to get any sort of abnormal report. Sorry you have to wait but I agree that waiting 3 months will probably be fine. I have heard that cervical problems develop extremely slowly. It's probably just a slight infection.

Cathi, I am praying for little Ella and Amanda and also you - what a selfless, wonderful woman you are. Would it be possible to have one lot of Zometa just to see how you react? If it went well (as it did with hrf) you could continue and if not, you could hold off for a little while.

Sheila, I had several abnormal paps in the past that were normal at the next followup. That's what I'll be expecting for you every time I think about it. Hugs.

Cathi, add my voice to the chorus. Amanda and Ella need you long term, not just for now. But none of us really knows the whole story, so I do support you whatever you decide.

Barbe, congrats. You deserve some good news.

I am resting after having exploded at my DIL on the phone yesterday. It was wrong. I need to be supportive. It felt great...a huge weight lifted. I feel guilty. I have not a clue what is right in this situation, but I am cracking under the pressure.

Barbe, Great news! And hope it continues to be great news for your scan results.

Sue , how are you doing? If I know you , you're probably "hell on wheels"!lol Hope you're healing well and feeling better.

Sheila , Praying all is fine with you. If your doc says to wait , I would think that its OK. I'm thinking its very low on the abnormal scale , so its wait and see if it was an infection. Hang in there.

Jane , praying for cool breezes your way!

Hi Judie. Sorry you had a heated argument with DIL. But sounds like it was something you needed to do. Hope it all works out.

Aww Karen , happy birthday to Chase! Hope he had a wonderful day. Hope also , that you get things going again soon with your house.

Cathi ((((((((((((((((Cathi)))))))))))))))), I am praying daily for you , Amanda and Ella. I hope the Zometa is for osteoporosis , and it won't be to long before you can take it. Please take care of you! When you feel like talking , we are all here.

Lisa , hope your trip to Az was wonderful and relaxing. You sure did need it! Miss you.

Ivorymom , so good to see you. Thanks for all the thoughtful words and right back atcha!

Love to all the ladies here. Hope everyone is having a good moment.

I'm here, and officially on vacation until December 1!  But the time it took to get to this point kept me from doing more than quickly reading the posts before I fell asleep. I worked late every night this week because my boss will be out the week I get back and my employee reviews had to be done by then. Plus my monthly report is due while I'm out. And we had THREE two-hour meetings this week. And of course, there was my regular work to do on top of that, plus I took the review home to work on. I was in by 8 am and didn't leave before 5:15, yesterday 6 pm. I normally work 8:30 - 4:30 so that was an extra load of time.

My vacation plans are not exciting...onc appt on Monday, prep the den for painting and do ceiling. But I do plan to sleep late (7:30 am) every day, lol. Thanksgiving at my brother's in-laws. Very nice, we're all chipping in and having it catered. We did it last year and it worked out so well, we're doing at again. I'm offering my services to help set up since I am not working...as long as my daughter will let me have the car, lol.

    What are everyone else's plans?

Hi ladies! Elaine , how exciting having everyone together for turkey day! Let the fun , food , and strolls down memory lane begin! Hope its wonderful , just like you Wink

Yeah Nancy! Vacation , woo-hoo! sounds like you have alot to do , but it still is time off from work, which is great. I think its great to have dinner catered. Heat and eat , with lots of time to visit. Tell your daughter , if she wants to eat turkey on Thanksgiving , then she better give you the car!lol What color are you painting the den? If you can , post a pic. Will your brothers be helping , or is that a joke!? Hope it turns out nice and cozy.

Hi Judie! So good to see you here. Thanks for asking about me. I am feeling a little low. I have a sinus infection. Its getting better , but my darn ears are soooo clogged up , I can hardly hear.I had alot of ear infections as a child , and have some scar tissue. So when it settles in my ears , it seems like it takes forever to get better. If you know of anything I can do to get rid of the sticky  goo in my ears , please let me know. All the doc can say is , if its bad enough , maybe I should get tubes put in. We've tried drinking lots of fluids to see if it wood flush it out. Then not drinking lots of fluids to see if that would help. Nothing does. Even the nose spray that he gave me doesn't help. Sometimes , when its really bad , I'll hold my breath , and force pressure through my ears , but you can only do that a couple of times without hurting yourself! But I'm about to do it. With my head hanging over the side of the bed! Stop laughing! I should take a pic and post it...lol

My ex-SO is doing better! Finally. They did an ultra sound of the last surgery , and it was a success! I can actually see the wound on his leg , healing everyday as I change the dressing. We were doing a wet to dry dressing , but the doc "cleaned the wound" on Monday , very painful. Its very "raw" and he had to scrub it and remove some , Oh , I can't remember what he called it, some white-yellow stuff that forms , but its not a part of the skin , anyway , he had to pick it and cut it out. But it sure is getting better. And he went to the docs with just his cane , not his walker. So things are looking up there. I'm so glad we changed docs and hospitals. Even this doc can't believe the nurse dropped something on his leg. But of course , they don't know what to say. Only one nurse said , "I certainly hope that hospital is paying your medical bills". We just looked at each other and laughed...

I don't know if I mentioned here about my son and his girlfriend. He was going to ask her to marry him on their anniversary, which is a couple of days after Thanksgiving. But he called me and started talking about it. And he said , something is wrong. She is acting "distant". As a women , it sent off red flags in me immediately! So They talked , and they have been dating since Ashley was 19. She is now 24 , and feeling like she might be missing something. He is the only one she has dated and now living with. I understand it 100%. But Judie and ladies , I have to tell you , I am soooooooooooo proud of my son. And I told him so. He said he understood. And if she feels that way , then she should do what she needs to do. That he loves her with all his heart , but he understood. I mean , I get it , but alot of especially young people , would say , I'll do whatever you want , please don't leave. Or something to that effect. So , engaement is on hold. But they are still together. Whatever happens , I do know my son will be fine. He is so loving and understanding. Just really has a "good head on his shoulders". I am so proud of him. I hope she realizes what a special blessing he really is. I do!

I hope all is well with you Judie. How is Jasper doing? He is such a sweetheart. I love seeing pics of him. What will you be doing for Thanksgiving? If you were close by , I'd invite you over! I don't think my son is coming. So it will be me and me ex-SO. He wants ham. I love turkey. Maybe if I get a smoked turkey , and shape it in a ham , he won't notice!lol

Lisa , are you back from Arizona? Please check in with us. I hope all is well with you. Hows our little Oliver doing? I bet he missed you!

Where are all our newbies? I haven't seen them here for a while. Hope you all are fine and doing well. I may just have missed your posts. Cause I come and go here lately.

Cathi and Barbe , still praying for you and your loved ones.

OK ladies and UB , counting down to turkey day! We are all gonna be busy , so check in when you can. Love you all. Mel

    Mel,

Your son being so loving and understanding is a testament to your raising him.  You should be proud.  You do GREAT work!  You are one of the most loving, understanding and warm person that I have ever had the pleasure to "meet".
