Anyone starting chemo in Aug. 08?

Home now for the third day, and moving towards a decision to enter hospice care. With an aggressive tumor and no help from clinical trials. We are now feeling cut off. The Lord will provide, though. We have never lacked for anything. Thanks be to God.

Bette ~ Good to see you posting again. I hope that means both the pneumonia and your pain are under control. If you can't do a trial, are there no drugs already in use worth trying? I'm also wondering if an integrative cancer specialist (like Dr. Keith Block, for example), might have treatment options other than chemo to offer you. http://www.blockmd.com/
Corinne ~ I'm so glad you have your recon surgery figured out and scheduled! I think you've made the right decision about which kind to do.
Gail and Deen ~ Well? Did you get together? Hope you took a pix for us!
Misty ~ Happy Birthday!!!
Jeannine ~ I'll bet you are thrilled to be done with chemo, and I'm praying the upcoming PetScan will be totally clean!
Alibug ~ How's your Gram doing? Please let her know that we're praying for her.
(((Hugs))) to all ~ Deanna

alibug, my prayers are with your gram and family.
Bette, I continue to pray for you and I know God will be with you in making your decisions. Tom has been great in updating us and I hope you will keep in contact. Please know that you are in our thoughts.
misty, happy birthday!
Deanna, so nice to see you on FB!
Gail and I met on Sat at Saltgrass Steakhouse on the Guadelupe River! It was a beautiful day in beautiful surroundings! Gail is one hot mama and such a wonderful person! I didn't want to leave, she's one of those people you can talk to forever. She is one of those rare individuals who has gone everywhere and done everything! Talk about living your life! She has inspired me! I can't wait to see her again! I'm going to try to post my pics later.
Have a great day!

Hello all,
Had very rough weekend from #4. I guess the last one had to be the kicker. I'm still recovering. Lord, let this be the final one. Was feeling pretty down yesterday. Cried, and watched a lot of movies. Back at work today and tomorrow Vets Day. (off!)
Thank you all for warm wishes and prayers. Let's pray this bc is still localized. Will find out in 2 weeks from PET scan. (ugh)
Bette: I'm so happy to hear from you! My prayers continue hard for you. I pray for your healing and comfort.
Gail & Deen: I so wish I was there to visit with you! So happy you had a great time. Yes Deen, Gail has such an eloquent voice and gentle personality, you can talk for hours!
Happy Birthday Misty and many many more!
Love to all,
Jeannine

Hi all, I got a call from my onc last night and remeber all those tests that I had for the Neratinib trial...they came back. Ekg was a little funny so they sent me to do a stress test today. I PASSED with FLYING colors. I made it to level 5. They said I was physically fit and there were few my age that could have done as well. Yippee!!! My surgery is tomorrow.
Bette: I love you and want you to know that you are such a blessing. I always believe that there must be something out there to be tried. Perhaps the Lord will allow you to find the right thing. We love you and are with you everyday. Psalms 4:8 is the verse I am going with tomorrow. I have claimed it many a time. I hope it will bring comfort to you too.
Alibug; I know how you feel about all these scans. Scared every time I have one. I am soooooooo HAPPY for you!!
Jeannine: How are you doing?? How are you feeling??
Roya and Karen, we miss you!! I hope that you both are doing well.
Love and hugs always to all,
Corinne

Hi Everyone,
Just got off the plane from Texas and visiting my Mom and brother. How great to have an afternoon with Deen by the river on a sunny day - being together like friends who've known each other for years! Deen you are gorgeous, warm and wonderful to talk with - and I'm thrilled to have a new friend to visit!
Hugs, Gail & Deen!
-
Gail and Deen: I'm jealous!!! You look so great together.
Well...went to the hospital and was there at 6:15 They gave me anesthesia and I woke up at 9:10 to my drs voice saying...."Corinne, we had to cancel your surgery due to the fact that we found a tick on your back right where I was going to cut!!!" Only this could happen to me. I am back at home and starting tonight to take a different antibiotic only to reschedule. Yes, I am very dissapointed but at least it's not cancer!!
-
First time I've ever heard of that happening, Corinne! Was the tick actually imbedded in your skin? Thank goodness they didn't miss it, and hopefully, as strange as it is, it's all unfolding just as it should. That will be an interesting story you'll be telling your grandkids someday! Deanna
-
Gail and Deen, so nice that you got together. What a fabulous picture. You girls look great.
Corinne, I am so sorry this happened to you. So, when are you going to reschedule?
Jeannine, I hope you are recovering each day from your last chemo. Keeping the fingers crossed for a clean scan.
Alibug-thinking about you with your grandmother. I know how sad you must be. Glad you had a clean scan.
Hi Deanna and everyone else!!!

Thanks for asking about my Gram - really no change - she got out of the hospital last Friday and they took her back on Sunday and she is still there. They can't seem to get rid of the infection she has. I just keep praying that she doesn't suffer!!!! Loves to all...........
-
OMG! I am so happy to hear from you Lisa and to hear your great news! Yes the Lord does work miracles. You have been in my thoughts & prayers contantly. I'm so happy your marriage and brain surgery have turned around. Amen!
Corrine: Sorry, but I had to chuckle at the thought of the Docs finding a tick on you! That is too much. But you're right...much better than bc!
Bette: I am deeply sorry for your family's loss. I put you on another prayer line on Wednesday. I hope you're feeling better.
Alibug: I will keep your grandmother in prayer and healing.
Gail & Deen: You 2 look fabulous! Loving the pic.

Update on Bette: She is unable to travel at this time. When she is done with the radiation they are calling in hospice care. They both have been through so much.
Bette and Tom: Our love is with you. May the Lord show His strength to you at this time. We are keeping on praying!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeannine: Your right..it is funny about the tick but not funny on how much that tick cost!! I was in the or under anesthesia. Anyhow, getting my port out this Thurs. in out patient surgery. My reconstruction is on the 25th.
Alibug: So sorry about your Gram. I hope she gains strength.

Lisa ~ What a wonderful surprise to see your name pop up here again, and even more wonderful to know that you're doing well in all counts! God is good!
Bette ~ I'm so sorry that you are still struggling with tx, but I continue to pray for you many times a day, and, as hard as it is to understand why you haven't had better response to your tx, I firmly believe that God is in control and right there with you. And my condolences on the loss of your son-in-law.
I hope everyone gets to enjoy the beauty of this autumn weekend, wherever you are ~ Deanna

Lisa, great to see such good news coming from you - what blessings!
Corinne, so glad to hear that this recon is scheduled and SURE to go well this time!
Bette, I also pray for you every day and was so sad to hear of your son-in-law. You and Tom continue to inspire me.
Jeannine, Breeze through that PET scan for us, OK? It's gonna be fine. I was so nervous about my last one and it's fine - yours will be, too!
Hi Deanna, hope we can see each other soon!
Deen, still smiling when I think of our great afternoon - thanks again!
Love to all,
Gail

So much has been happening since my stop the surgery tick bite. I cannot write it all or it would take up all the pages here. So I will just say that I am going for surgery on Thurs to get my port out!!!Yahooo!!! As I stated before surgery for reconstruction is the day before Thanksgiving and I am starting the Neratinib trial on the 30th. Life sometimes does not go smoothly but I took time today to go horseback riding just to get away from all the pressures. Looking good out there!!!
Jeannine: I know that those PET scans can seem so scary. I am praying for you!!
Bette: We love you and pray for you constantly.
Hugs to all
-
Corinne, I hope you are feeling all well from your tick bite and no reactions ie Lyme's disease! Did you ever check out the reconstruction thread or the picture site? If you need help finding them, just call me in the evening & I'll help you girlie!
Bette, I would really like to come see you. Misty or Stacy - are you available to go anythime soon?
Jeannine, Do you still need some Do-rags? I'm so sorry that I got busy & forgot to mail them.
All, I am going in on Dec 1st for some revisions to my reconstruction. Hopefully the last time!

Good morning all!
I'm feeling much better (finally) I have my days..Sunday great, yesterday so-so..today wonderful..I think the Xoleda is getting to me..my poor toes. Going to visit w/the the Gynecologist in an hour to discuss oophorectomy. I'm going to try to have this done a few weeks after my Bi-MSX and before Rads..what a schedule!
Corrine: I'm happy to hear your ports getting removed! Yea what a relief. Good going on the upcoming trial. Keep on horseback riding.
Bette: Praying and thinking of you constantly our dear Lord be with you and comfort both you and Tom.
Hood: No problem on the do-rags..actually my daughter bought some for me and I have quite a lot Thank you!! I even got a new wig. Receiving many compliments. I'll have to post a new avatar soon.
Thank you all for the positive wishes and prayers for Thursday's PET scan. No carbs tomorrow. Hard...I'm not going to worry. It's all in God's hands.
Oh how do all of you feel about the new change in mamo guidelines? So what are we 40 and under and at risk women supposed to rely on now? Hmmmm.
Have a blessed week everyone,
Jeannine
-
Jeannine, good wishes for a clean scan on Thursday.
Corinne, good luck with your surgery next week. You are a real trooper!!
Everyone, have a nice Thanksgiving. My husband and I leave to visit his parents from this Friday through next weekend. I don't know if I will have access, but I will try! His family is very excited to see us. We haven't seen them since Christmas two years ago.

Hi everyone,
Jeannine, was just thinking & reading this morning about the new Task Force guidelines - good question! Yes, it's a process that gets lots of women in their 40's tested & have many false positives - but, wow, to get a false positive would be a dream come true for us! And I'll trade that for saving lives by early detection in the 40's! Good wishes for PET on Thurs!
Corinne, glad the ports are out - and thinking good thoughts about the surgery coming up!
Misty, hadn't told you, but love your Long hair!
Bette, always thinking of you
Love,
Gail

Hi everyone, The port is out and I am on no pain meds!!! I am not even on Tylenol!! The great news is no tick bites today!!! I prayed for all today as I waited for the surgery for an hour and a half. I was so pleased for this time ALONE with God!!!
Jeannine: How did your PET go today?? Did you find out anything?? The hospital here gave me the news on the same day. I did not know that there truly are alot of false positives on any test we take. God is in control. Our Pastor this week said that God is not our errand boy. We were created for him not the other way. That made me think alot about my prayers to him. Perhaps this one message will change the way I look at things in my life.
Anyhow, I love you all and am praying for you Bette. Our God can heal no matter how bleak at times things look. I pray that the Lord gives you relief from all the pain.
Hugs
