Stopping in to say hi....hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
Michele: I'm glad you're doing well after your surgery, and hope you are able to get the drain out soon.
Cheryl: good luck with the brown sash....remind me to not get you angry, lol (is tai chi anything like karate?) Enjoy your tamox break, I hope it results in no pain, even for a little while.
Kerry: happy birthday to your son! enjoy the party...if you're getting the same weather we are, it should be a beautiful day tomorrow.
Apple: too funny about your surgeon....what did you say when he said he thinks you're cute? I'm not sure how I would've responded to that! I hope things improve with your music director, but it isn't sounding like it will if he's that bad.
Kim: Good to hear from you....I'm glad to hear that you are doing well! Are you on Facebook? If so, friend me, I'm Judy Spitz Batchelor...
Well, Julia's tube appears to leak large amounts when she drinks, so we are thinking that it came dislodged from her small intestine and is now in her tummy....if so, it will have to be removed....I guess this is why her original dr didn't want to do it. We still have not used the tube for feeding, have been involved in trying to get her on our insurance (so sick of fighting with insurance companies)
Son came down with a fever today ...I seem to have some sort of chest cold going on, but no fever so that's good; it's just making my asthma act up. I did some mosaic work today, finished the boot I started some time ago...I forgot how time consuming it is to cut up little pieces of glass to fit just so, hours can go by so quickly when I'm mosaicing.
-
aw Judy.. i think about Julia all the time.. i so hope she comes to find healing and comfort. it is so hard when one of your children is sick..
i remember the sleepless nites in the children's hospital.. reclining on the chair or cot, waking at every movement of the nurses.
-
{{{hugs}}} for you, ,Judy!
-
(((Judy and family)) Poor Julia.
I surely hope and pray that she gets some relief soon. You guys have been through way too much this year.
-
((Judy)) I so hope Julia is feeling better soon. Poor Girl
-
Kerry - Halle Berry hair. I am jealous. I have a hair folder with a bunch of different cuts/styles that I want along the way. Halle is definitely in there. Can't keep up with the posts. Been fighting fatigue and colds and such for weeks. Hope Jack's party goes well.
Apple - you are such a character. You make me laugh!
-
Bev - sorry you are still getting fatigued. I have started getting more achey in the cold weather - not enjoying that. Kids have both had colds, but i have so far escaped. No good photo of me from the party today (I am the family photographer!) but here is the top of my curly head. Wish I had Halle Berrys face and body to go along with her hair!!
-
Kerry~ Love the hair!! So pretty!
-
Hurricaine Ida is going to hit today/tonight. Gonig to spend the day getting everything inside and secured!
-
Oh my goodness. Be safe! Are you likely to have to evacuate?? Keep us updated.
All good here. Another warm day forecast for us Northerners - sure beats a Hurricaine!
-
your body's close Kerry.
-
I agree Kerry ypu are such a tiny thing
Michele- be safe.
Another pretty day here going to take advantage of it and take pictures os my neice. Family sessions this weekend -
Oh, you guys are so nice - but she does have two boobs...! And big ones...
Jaimie - hows the chest? Yep, we are getting up to 18 C today....this in November, it is crazy.
-
boobs are over rated Kerry.. i;ve always liked being flat and the fact that they are never in the way.. especially on the left side.
-
Be safe, Michele! Isn't Webbie down there with you in Lower Alabama?
Kerry ~ your hair looks so cute! Did Jack's party go well?
Michele ~ Are you an Auburn football fan?! I"m a UGA fan, and I"m so excited for the game this week even though my Dawgs are probably going to lose. What a ratty season we're having!
Furies ~ I've learned that my father's prostrate cancer has come back in his bones and kidney. This doesn't make me feel very secure about my own NED-ness. I'm definitely going to have a chat with my onc next week. I'm certainly not panicking, and I'm not all, "OMG his cancer came back so mine will, too!!!!!!", BUT...I am a little uneasy. I wonder if there are any studies/stats about children of parents with mets. I wonder if I'm more likely to have recurrance now.
(I apologize if that sounds selfish and all about me, me, me, but I don't really have a relationship with my father. I haven't seen him in three years, and that was only because we ended up being invited to the same party. Before that, I hadn't seen him in more than five years.)
Hugs to all,
Artemis -
Artemis~ I understand completely. My dad died of a heart attack BUT my sperm donor is still alive (father). So I totally get what you are saying. I hope your doctor can help with the fears.
Kerry My lack of boobs is doing good so far. My right may have a little, little bit of fluid but so far knocking HARD on wood I am doing okay. My PS wasn't happy with me but I told her I would need to be commited if she didn't remove the drains. She got a good chuckle out of it because I was going crazy with the pinching feeling. She also told me she gave me the largest drains available geez thanks
.
I need to reset my sleep patterns starting tonight. I fall alseep fine and then I try to get up for the day at 2-3 AM and I am exhausted. I need the sleep because I am on a mission do to as many sessions as I can until my surgery. I gotta pay for a lot of things and this could help at least take a dent of of something. So I have a senior this week, a family this weekend, a portrait party next weekend on a Saturday, followed by another portrait party on Nov. 27. I am excited and hoping that they all go smoothly.
-
Jamie ~ Exactly! My dad died two years ago (ironically, from prostate cancer); my sperm donor is the one living with cancer now. Good luck with the sessions you have set up this week! *smile*
-
Jaimie: you start your day at 2 or 3 am?? Wow, you must be so tired! Good luck resetting your sleep pattern, and with your photo sessions. Too bad we don't live closer, we need a family picture done, haven't had one in 9 years now.
Artemis: I don't know how any of that works either....let us know what your onc thinks. Try not to worry too much : )
I go see my onc tomorrow for a follow up appt....they will be considering taking me off the coumadin, but I will get a CT scan scheduled first to be sure the clot has dissolved. Which works for me, since they scan from my neck to my knees, it covers other things I'd like to be looked at, like the liver and lungs.
Cheryl: speaking of coumadin, how is that going for you? I am wondering if it is the coumadin that is causing my aches/pains. It is the only drug I am taking right now, and I have seen others complain about pain as a SE. Part of me is scared to stop taking it....I might wait until after I see the clot specialist in December.
Hope everyone is feeling good. Another warm day here, too, Kerry...I should've put the Christmas decorations up while it is nice out there, lol...but it's too early, my neighbors would think I was nuts
-
Quick question: are any of you (who are not taking hormone tx) still getting hot flashes??? At this point, I'm figuring it's actual menopause and not from the chemo anymore....although my toenails are still being affected, so who knows?
-
Good to hear from you Artemis!
Judy, I am still on coumadin. It's taking me a while to get regulated. After next week I get another blood test to see how I'm doing. I still have hot flashes and pain. -
Judy - hope it goes well today. My MIL is on blood thinners for a heart condition, and it took a long time and lot of blood work to get regulated. All sorts of things (like having an extra glass of wine) can throw things off. I have aches and pains, but I think they are from the Arimidex. And/or menopause, not sure at this point what is causing what.
Artemis - great to hear from you. I wouldn't think there is a connection btw your fathers outcome and yours....my FIL was Dx with a very aggressive Prostate cancer nearly 4 years ago, had rads and hormones, is doing well - his brother on the other hand died from it fairly quickly. I would think it is just one of those crapshoot things, how your cancer responds, etc. Will be interested to hear what your Onc says.
Jaimie - glad to hear you are getting loads of work1 Good for you.
Cheryl - hi to you too!
Apple - read elsewhere you had a good Onc visit too - Yah you!
Well, I went Santa shopping yesterday, I can't help myself! Stores are just so full of Christmas already. Felt like summer here yesterday. Have a good day!
-
Oh Judy I go back to bed but it then makes me sooo tired the next day....
Lack of Boob update I have a teensy bit of fluid on the right side so I am wrapping it up in an ace bandage for a couple of days
On a brighter not I did get my hotel taken care of for New Orleans. One less thing to worry about now I just need to find the $ tree for the surgical fees, airfare and food
I am going do not care if I have to borrow the money.
Kerry~ Jealous of your Santa shopping.
I have got to start soon and get to organizing my house again. I have so much to do and such a little amount of energy. I have to figure out where to start...... Everything needed to be reorganized last year before my diagnosis but now it's even worse.
-
Hi guys....most of you already saw my FB post, and although the docs don't seem to get it, the appointment went fine I guess. They did draw some blood because last time I guess my liver enzymes were a bit high...could've been due to meds I was on. Hmmm, I guess I"m kind of slow, because I am just now wondering...do your liver enzymes go up if you have mets to the liver? God I hope that's not what they're worrying about, I'm not even going to think about that until I hear otherwise. They said it could have been the vytorin, I took that for a week or so back in September when they checked my blood.
My hubby's out of town this week, again, so I'm being extra lazy, lol. Spent most of yesterday figuring out our new insurance. It seems pretty good, all of my current docs take it, so that's good. At least we now get more than 2 office visits each per year! No vision though, and no dental until January.
Hubby's band is playing Thanksgiving (either the night before or the night after)...so I have something fun to look forward to...I haven't gone out in forever
-
Judy meds will have an effect on your liver.
Okay ladies my flight is booked, lodging is taken care of and NOW I am nervous... Now I am looking for a money tree...lol...I still have to do a little rearranging of herceptin since my onc decided that I am going to do 19 now instead of the 17 he said before ...gggrrrr... It's all going to be okay.
I got nothing done today but I am hopeful about tomorrow. I am going to take some of my meds that I used to take for my sleep disorder. I gt a lot to do and little energy. -
Judy - I think all sorts of things would affect your liver emsynes. Try not to worry. (yeah, right, I know!!) Good news on the insurance.
Jaimie - Whoohoo, boobie flights all booked! How long does it all take? Are you going alone?
Cold again here, big frost last night. We are getting a skylight put in our bedroom (Monster house built next door blocked all our light) so i will have workmen in the house all day. Hate that.
-
Judy~ Steroids, xanax, and most pain relievers can cause the enzymes to go up. Mine were up because of the steroids for a while.
Jaimie~ When are yo coming to NOLA?? I really do want to meet up. I can bring M to the zoo or aquarium and meet you for lunch!
Painted the LR yesterday and now DH is complaining about the color. <grumble> Maybe if he had lifted a finger to help??
-
Michele - i can't believe you painted your living room a week after surgery! You put me to shame. Our living room, den, and starways all need painting.....better get my bum into gear!
-
mornin ladies.
i'm superfrustrated with music problem.. but all is well otherwise and yes, i did have a good doctor appointment. she said "you look really cute.. something is different"
'hello' i said, 'i have hair'.. Hello? she said. She's Chinese and not so idiomatic.
-
you painted the living room Michele?
heh.. wow. hopin the DH realizes what a gem you are today.
-
Furies ~ thanks so much for your encouragement!! I'm sure that my father's mets have no bearing on me, but it does make me a little uneasy. He comes from a long line of people who died of various cancers, and then there's my mother's father, brother and sister who all died of cancer. I feel that I don't come from very hardy stock when it comes to The Beast!
Judy ~ I'm glad you're getting a CT. I'm praying hard that the liver enzymes are up due to meds and nothing else. *hugs* How fun that you're husband is playing and that you'll have a night out! (He's a bass player, right?) I haven't played in about 5 years, and I really miss it sometimes.
Jamie ~ good for you for getting all your NOLA plans in action! Believe me, if I had a money tree, I'd certainly be sharing the wealth. *hugs*
Kerry ~ The skylight sounds great! I'm sorry you're having to have it done, but I'm sure you'll enjoy it once the workmen are out of your house.
Michele ~ Yay for newly painted LR, but, wow, I can't believe you did that by yourself and so soon after surgery! Wow!! You go, girl! (Did you see my question about AU football?)
apple ~ So sorry you're still having music problems, but hurrah for a good doctor visit!
My family lost a lovely girl to diabetes yesterday. She was 27 and had a 2-year-old little girl. While TREMENDOUS strides are being made in treating it, Type 1 diabetes is another dreadful disease that desperately needs a cure. My 12-year-old nephew has it, too.
I wrote in my journal last night that the vertigo is pretty much gone. So guess what I woke up with today?! *swallows Antivert*
Love to all of you,
Artemis
