Judy you really deserve a break.
Our clocks automatically reset so I forgot about it..lol.... Well except for my clocks. I am glad you ladies reminded me
.
Well I spent yesterday morning in the ER because my right side is infected....grrr... I smell like something awful
They wanted to keep me but I told them NO I am going trick or treating with my kids so we compromised. I got one dose of IV antibiotics and now I am on 2 antibiotics until tomorrow morning. I have to be back at the hospital by 6:30 am and wait for them to have an opening so they can go in and take the capsule out and it should finally stop leaking....wwhhhooo. The great thing is that they are going to do both sides so lefty is once again guilty by association (my BC was on the right).
The fellow that I got to talk to is planning on being a microsurgeon and we talked for about 30 min. about my upcoming surgery. He was a sweety and had a cute south africa accent so I was entertained...lol....
Trick or treating went well even though we had rain. My kids had a blast and I got to go so it was a good time. My daughter was a pink princess and my son was Goofy and they were both thrilled with their costumes.
I am going to lay low today and continue taking the million pills that I need to take today. I hope everyone is having a great weekend.
-
Kerry
Thanks for posting the photo of Emily and Jack. So cute!! Great costumes. 150 kids wow!! Finally got some sleep. Better get going and do something productive; like exercise.
-
Jamie - Thinking of you. Doesn't sound like you lay too low. You just keep going & going.
Judy - Hope things are going better and everyone is healthier.
Bev
-
that pic is adorable Kerry
i found a couple videos of me playing when i was bald.. in the midst of my first chemos.. i felt fairly drugged at this time.. i'm all in pink
-
I beat Kerry here this morning...hehhe. I am at the hospital waiting which I am not confident that I will get in this AM
I do not want to wait all day but I guess I will be grateful because I an on the cardiac floor and at least I am not have a cardiac procedure.
So is anyone doing anything fun this week ??? -
Hey early riser! I have been up since 5:30, been out walking!
Oh, man Jaimie, the fun never ends, does it. Hope they get to you early. Keep us posted.
So, next weekend is Jacks Birthday Party! His birthday is on the 12th, we are having a party on the 8th. So, this week i am going to be organising things for that. As well as my usual routine of picking up puppy poop. She is a machine.....
-
Yeah I am not an early riser at all. I am envious that you are so motivated with walking even in the cold weather that you have
How is the puppy training going ??
The hospital still can't find me in their system and I am not leaving until this issue is fixed. My chest feels like I am full of milk and it hurts. -
I think it is the arimidex that makes me wake up early....also with the clocks going back, I was awake before 5:00am. If I just get up and go for my walk, I don't have time to talk myself out of it! also helps a lot with the joint stiffness and the hot flashes. So, i feel better if I go, just not the first 5 minutes! I have my ipod, so it isn't so bad.
How could they "lose" ypou?? Someone didn't enter you in??
Puppy toilet training is going badly....(Michele - any tips??) I will take her out for a 1/2 hour run around in the backyard, we come back in and she immediately does a wee....
-
Hi girls. Quick note to say thanks for your kind words....Julia is home for now, we haven't used the tube yet, she is still too swollen and in pain. Her hospitalist said that sometimes they simply have to remove the tube, so we'll see what happens. I went to the hospital yesterday, and we convinced them to let her rest at home for a few days, then we probably go back in to test the feeding tube.
I am not so strong....I broke down this morning, I honestly don't know if I can take much more. I'm thankful I have such sweet friends to talk to. Without my mom here, there really is no one else I can share with (my dad is, um, well he's not my mom, lol).
Anyway, no school today or tomorrow, so I slept in. I cancelled my appt with my onc tomorrow, rescheduled for next week, I just have had enough of docs and hospitals for now.
Kerry, I hope you have luck training your dog....our chihuahua's are 5, 4 and 2 yrs old, and they all still pee in the house....it's hard with so many dogs because you never know which one to discipline. If they weren't Julia's dogs, they'd be gone by now, lol, but she loves them so much.
Jaimie: hope everything goes really, extra well for you today.
-
Apple - I really enjoyed listening to you play. You can tell it is your passion and your heart is in it completely.
Jamie & Judy - Thinking of you both.
-
Jaimie~ So??? How'd it go? Infection free?
Judy~ Still thinking 'bout Julia. Hope she's doing better.
-
Jaimieh, I hope the procedure they're doing puts an end to all this darned draining.
I was feeling under the weather on Saturday so didn't go out or dress up.
Judy, is Julias pain and swelling getting better? I hope things get better and you get to use the peg. -
hope you're ok Jamie.. and Judy.. i had to laugh at the "LOL - but she loves them so much" statement.
I spent yesterday evening with my bestfrienddirectorfellowbreastcancerbuddy - Barbara. she just had surgery Monday, is finished with chemo and is now into healing and then onto reconstruction. - it's funny, we've had almost the same life.. same type of nice tall husbands, kids the same age, the same profession almost. thing is, she's almost 10 inches taller than me..
hugs
-
Apple: yeah, she loves them so much, but she's not the one cleaning up after them. It's nice that you have a friend with whom you have so much in common.....my best friend kind of 'disappeared' throughout my bc ordeal....after 25 years of friendship....people are strange
Jaimie: how are you?? hope all went well today
Julia is up and about a bit more...still in pain, and she looks pregnant she's so swollen, but they want to start using the tube on Wed. She's nervous about that.
Ok, I'm thinking "what would I do if I won the lottery"? Obviously, I would pay off lots of bills, house, etc....but the fun thing I would do is take everyone I know (especially you guys) on a cruise somewhere with palm trees, blue water, and white sand. One can dream, right?
-
Oh, Judy, buy that lottery ticket! That would be a wonderful thing to do, I would do the same thing. We always talk about what we would do if we won, and that is always the thing we say we would do - take everyone on a fabulous vacation. Try and win in January, a Carribean cruise would go down well then!! Glad to hear that Julia seems to be doing a bit better - hope the tubing goes OK tomorrow.
Jaimie - I hope all went well yesterday, and you are infection free.
Bev - how is the hair growing?
So, one of my good friends rang me yesterday, to tell me about a friend of a friend of hers who had BC two years ago. She told a great long story about how she started with a back-ache, then couldn't get out of bed because of the pain, now they have found it in her spine and liver. She kept going on and on, I knew where the conversation was going when she started and just wanted her to stop. What is it with people? I don't know why she thought she had to tell me. Ugg.
Anyhow, hope a good day is had by all!!
-
Jaimie~ WHERE ARE YOU??? Hope all is well!
Judy~ More (gentle) hugs for Julia. My "best" friend disappeared too. Seems this was all "too much" (her words, not mine).
Kerry~ My friend went on a diatribe about how she took care of a relative who was in hospice. Apparently, you could "hear the bones breaking" from the mets. Ummm.. didn't need to know that.
My surgery is tomorrow. I'm starting to get nervous but am also really excited to get this past me. My breast MRI was clean so I can opt out of the SNB. THAT makes me happy.
This morning was soooo hectic. I HATE the time change. Maggie is now waking at 5am (instead of 6am) so I don't have as much child-free time to exercise, pack lunches, etc. Would be fine if she would go to bed earlier... but no such luck.
Hope everyone has a GREAT day!
-
Kerry~ Sorry, didn't reply to you yesterday 'bout the puppy. Do you have a crate for her? Crate training is the BEST way to house-break. You also need to be over-the-top with praise when she potties outside. If you *do* have a crate, I'll post my suggestions for training. If not, my suggestion is to GET A CRATE!
-
Yep, got the crate before we got the dog! She stays in it overnight (and pees in it sometimes) and when we go out.....She gets a lot of outside exercise, but always goes as soon as we come in.
-
how old is she?
-
Nearly 3 months....
-
I am here back with JP drains this time both sides where infected. So I am at home because I refused to stay and the dr agree since I always come back ...lol...
Michele- you are going to do great. Are they going to keep you overnight ??
Judy-You are doing an outstanding job navigating thru all of the things you are dealing with. I so wish we all lived closer so we could help each other out.
Kerry- ahhh the puppy training I did 2 puppies at the same time. Here is what we did do not take her out and play with her. Put her on a leash until she does her business and when she does reward like crazy (randomly throw trats into the reward) and then let her off the leash to play. She ia all about rewards and how can she get them. Once she figures out how to get them it will be easy. If she is pottying in her crate make it smaller and then she will stop. You can use a shoe box or something similar. Okay I'll stop rambling I love puppies
Cherly, bev, apple thank you for checking up on me
So after 5 surgeries I am really hoping that I am done until my next reconstruction journey.
Oh Kerry WHY oh WHY do people feel the need to tell us those type of stories... Can I smack her please -
Oh, Michele - I didn't realise your surgery was tomorrow. Don't worry about the puppy advice until you are over it all. Sorry. How are you doing today?? Thinking of you, hope you can try and relax. You will do amazingly....
-
Kerry~ If she's peeing in the crate, then the crate is too big. You need to block off part of it. Also, you should crry her outside right when you let her out of the crate and praise like crazy when she goes to the bathroom. Then she can play. But, at first, no praise or playing 'till she pees. She'll get the idea soon enough that if she wants attention and playing, she'll go to the bathroom 1st. Also, if she's not supervised (even if you are home), she needs to be in the crate.
A sample routine would be:
1. Up in am, carried outside. Praise for going potty.
2. Inside to eat. Back out to poop. More praise.
3. Inside to play for a while. Back into crate.
4. In the evening, repeat steps 1-3. Put her in the crate for the night.
I know that it sounds like a lot of time in the crate, but as she gets better about "accidents", you can leave her out more. Good luck!
-
Michele S - dogtrainer.
(where were you when Pal was a pup?)
hope your surgery went well Michele.
Jamie.. did you say 5 surgeries. egads.. that seems like so much.
-
Yup Apple this was #5 for the foobies....that's it until Reconstuction 2010 begins and then we will be doing 3 stages without any problems
Oh and the highlight is I might get to meet Michele
MICHELE~ We are hoping for an easy surgery and a breeze for a recovery ((BIGHUGS))
Tomorrow is delayed herceptin since I was partying in the OR yesterday...NOT.
Okay I don't think I rambled about it here but I normally if I absolutely need a pain pill will take 2mg of dilaudid. So I tell the anest. that I like compazine or fenegan for anti-nausea and dilaudid for pain (my PS knows my pain pill of choice also, I sound like a junkey)....Anyhow before I went into recovery the anest. dr thinking that she was doing me a favor gave me 16mg of dilaudid and both anti-nausea drugs. I couldn't keep my eyes open after 4 hours in recovery my butt was kicked big time. I would open my eyes mumble something and fall back asleep. My poor hubby was expecting me up and ready to go quickly like last time....lol..... I finally got up when a crazy patient was pulled in next to me and all she did was whale the entire time, follwed by yelling "help me" and when the nurse would come in she would ask if she was okay...poor thing but geez.
So anyhow I left sick to my stomach with my little bin because I need my beauty rest and the woman was making too much noise for those of us who needed our sleep. I am horrible I know.... Anyhow I think the pain pills finally wore off this evening.
So moral of the story make sure you are careful for what you ask for.....
-
I'm a tylox girl myself.
-
See we know what we like....lolll
-
Notice surgeries are not good for me.....to much time on my hands and I have not been doing what I am supposed to be doing today.....hehe
-
I'm off to the hosp! wish me luck!
-
Michele - I was hoping to post before you left this morning. Big, big hugs sent your way today, I hope everything goes smoothly, and you are home in your bed before you know it. I will be thinking of you all day.
Jaimie - yep, you do sound like a junkie!! I only have ever had tylenol #3 for pain, I think my Dr's have been holding out on me.....I get very sleepy and nauseous from anesthetic too, esp. if they give me gravol for nausea, I get very sleepy. Those general recvovery rooms are awful. When I was there for my ovaries, there was some young guy going off at his nurse because he wanted to smoke!!
Anyhow, hope everyone has a good day, Michele let us know how you are doing as soon as you can. You will do great.
