Used to live in San Rafael and San Francisco. I love Napa Valley. I try to drag my bff and/or dh to Napa, but they stick to Leelanau Penninsula in Michigan.
I am five weeks away from hopefully getting the surgery date to get the TE out of my chest!! In the meantime my BS tried to schedule a MRI-that would not have been good. A powerful magnet pulling at the little magnet in my chest. Wow..........
HOpe everyone has a nice Sunday. It is actually sunny here in good ol Michigan.
-
KarenW - my inlaws and 2 SIL's live in Portland, I love it there! One day I will meet you I hope cause we get up there a bit!
Ok, I'm off to meet the NorCal girls!!
Lollys, where in Cal do you live???
-
Soooooo jealous of the NorCal girls... and wondering... they say "NorCal" I say "NoCal. Sure it's because SoHo is south of Houston Street (both here and London) and NoHo is north of Houston (and that's HOWston not HUston). And if it's NorCal wouldn't SoCal be SouCal?
-
Welcome Laura
-
Both of my sons live in SoCal, my daughter, family, friends and I live in NorCal. I have no idea why northern California got an extra letter! Who decides these things????
Fort Bragg is waaaaaay up north along Highway 1, past Mendocino. We have about 7,000 people now, which makes it not too small, but not many jobs, either. Our biggest city is Ukiah, which is an hour and a half away. When I moved up here I chose to keep my former employers health insurance, so I drive 4 hours each way to see my doctors. I love my medical team plus it gives me a reason to go to the "big" city! My doctors are in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Next time there's a NorCal gathering I'm sooooo there! Any time any of you come up here to visit, let me know. I know the best ice cream place!

HI everyone from SoCal
-
WOW!!!!!!! Miss a few days and I am 6 pages behind, yes 6 pages. I read them all too, now I have a headache.
Jack and John, Love the pics.
HRF~~~~ T&A being deadly, too funny!!!!!
I hope the No Cal girls are enjoying their outing.
I have had a busy w/e. DS came home from school Friday sick, Sinus infection. Overnight job on Sat and just now getting home from outing. Took kids to Sunday school( I teach 5th grade CCD), then to mass and then took kids to Mt Airy Lodge. No we did not gamble, but went to the Veterans tribute. Dh got home and took kids kids, so now I am by myself!!!! I have time to relax and the pay my bills.
Hope all had a good weekend !!!!!
-
Jess - that was a brilliant clip, I've just forwarded it to a load of people!!!
Went to my see my son in a play last wednesday. It was the uni dramat society and the play was a comedy by italian playwrite Dario Fo, Can't Pay, Won't Pay! They staged it for 4 nights and had full house every night. It was really good. It was great to have a night out too!!!
This week I'm sorting out my mums old house again - have to be there to let tradesmen in, accept deliveries etc then it's down to cleaning and hand it over to the letting agent - whew, can't wait to be finished with all that. On Monday afternoon I do my carers course, Oh and on Tuesday I get my port out!!
Hope the NoCal meet goes well!!
-
::::jumping up and down so happy to see SoCal Lisa and mumayan here!!! ::::
-
Mary- "Overnight Job"???? girl you do more in a day than I do in a week...
-
Kari--Let me know when you will be in Portland! I know where Lincoln is. I went to Sierra College and UC Davis. To me the most important thing isn't NoCal vs. NorCal, it is never, ever, ever call San Francisco, Frisco
-
Jess, loved it, that looks like so much fun
-
Bernisse - You are right Jack was definitely Hugh JACKman.
Rachel - sorry for the confusion. That was definitely a chemofogian slip.
Have Fun NoCal girls.
-
I was out shopping and caught the end of this song while standing at the check-out. Maybe it's just me, but when I heard the final refrain I couldn't stop giggling. I had to Google the song - thought I would share...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHKDCqnH_7M
Be good to you -
-
Hi again..thanks for the warm welcome..
It is nice having a fun place to relax...
KEW..my middle son graduated from UC Davis...he is now a md in Covina CA..
All three of my sons went to school in Northern California..mainly because
I wanted them all far enough away so that they couldn't come home for the weekend to
do laundry...lol
-
When I first moved here I kept seeing NOVA and wondered what the heck it was. Come to find it out it means Northern Virginia or No + Va. We have a NOVA gals thread going on here and we have had 2 meet ups so far.
I often kid about how they do NOT know how to handle snow around here. 2 inches of snow and school is closed. I live in Alexandria, Virginia -- not in Alexandria, EGYPT, where they really have no idea how to handle snow.
-
I Lived in Alexandria also..but way back right after WWII...
-
Greetings, all! I can't even keep up with all the names, faces, stories. I guess I'll have to start checking this thread in the mornings when I am fresher and more apt to remember s#@*! And, Mary #2, I get it, I really get it about the cussin'/swearin' thing. Most people are really shocked when they realize I have that certain habit, because they just don't think it suits me, my profession, my whatever. Oh, well, at least I can behave myself in the presence of my mother. My husband hardly blinks anymore....
-
Hi ladies! Our day was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What cool chickies!! So here goes...the first is a link to all the photos: I only got one shot at the restaurant but the rest were at Leggy's BEAUTIFUL workplace...what a dreamy joint!! These ladies were so wonderful and tres cool! Can't wait to do it again and have others join if they can make it. Rach, we saluted you!!

"
Leggy, Mary, Kari, Allie, Lisa-e at the restaurant. There was a table of 4 guys just leering at us as we took several photos, they all turned out blurry except this one!!:

KarenW, I went to Sierra College to take ASL with my daughters a few years back!! Yeah NorCal and SoCal...very weird
-
omg, leave it to teh NorCal gals to do it with art!
Too wonderful, more tomorrow, gonna pass out now...
-
You guys are just too cute and funny! Next get together I will walk if I have to! I know a few fella A$$ kickers ( I dislike the word survivor) up here from our support group so maybe I can drag one or some of them with me. I am still so jealous!
As for abbreviations...I only found out recently what NOLA stands for....and I have relatives who live there. I am thrilled to say that I will be there in February! My sister and I got in on the cheap-o flights that Southwest had a couple of weeks ago so we are flying into Houston to visit one of our cousins then off to LA to visit an uncle! WOO HOO!!!
Linda
-
Just wonderful shots... love the last one with all those smiles. Glad you had a great day... I'm not surprised you had guys leering at you.
big hugs
Helena
-
You need Save the Ta Ta's shirts next time...
-
As a "flat-lander" I want the t-shirt that says, "To H@ll with the Ta Ta's, save my life!"
-
Little Red - I just started L-Carnitine. I was taking prescription Carnitor, but couldn't stand the "fish" smell. (sorry all you fish fans!) My skin stings all over when I get hot, so my neurologist has me on a lot of supplements trying to get the stinging to stop. It started in the middle of Rads (mid-April), but don't know if it's chemo or rad related.
I am a chocolate-covered pretzel fan too. I used to dip/sprinkle them and give out platefuls to my friends at xmas time. yummmm...
Kari - love the pics!
hugs
-
Wow Kari--you are speedy. I am checking this before I crawl off into bed. What a FUN afternoon!!! So great to meet the NoCal (NorCal??) girls in person! All fabulous and Leggy was a fantastic hostess in a place I can only describe as complete heaven... The pics with the "handshake" were too funny and I wish you could have seen and heard the reactions while the numerous pics were taken--truly classic. I was turning bright red in the restaurant while the entire place seemed to turn around and watch... all for you Rachel--and Helena!!
Thanks ladies--we'll do it again soon! Everyone else have a great night!
-
Hey Allie, I have an almost exact same outfit, except my boots are knee high. You look gorgeous. Big hugs.
-
If you NoCal girls were any where close to Sanford I'm going to be sick to my stomach. I was down there all weekend. Glad you had a good time.
It took me half and hour to catch up with this fun thread.
DH and I spend the entire weekend pinching ourselves. I can't believe he dosn't have the BRCA mutation. One out of five siblings. He always said his mom liked him best.
And even more good news. My DD's best friend and her husband were both at Ft Hood durring the shooting and are safe.
Have a great week ladies.
-
I, too, am wondering about the Secret Handshake! Not much mention of it here, but tons of great conversation... ???
