Thanks to both of you, The contest is done with photos sent out from the HR dept and everyone emails back in their choice. For those that saw me I did a couple of hip drops and gentle spins (skirt brushed the floor). The HR person said that there were only 3 or 4 votes between each of the three, the warehouse guys didn't even send in their votes, I guess because they didn't have anyone dressed up this year to vote for. The other two women (ghost bride and 1920's flapper) both said that they voted for me because they knew how much work I had in making my costume.  The ghost bride had a white skirt and top she bought from Goodwill, a tulle drape over that (gathered at the neck and waist), long black wig, a grey lace veil and fishnet stockings pulled on her arms as gloves. The Flapper had a black fringe cocktail dress she borrowed from a friend, fish net stockings and a feather boa. After lunch they both put on jeans, I stayed in costume, except for my braid, I couldn't stand it pulling my hair any longer so I took it out. I had to leave the hat on to cover where I had a ponytail to hook the braid to.  Here is the link to the pattern I used with a few modifications, I put a full circle skirt over the slacks and a veil to the hat. http://www.simplicity.com/p-1946-costumes.aspx

{{{HUGS}}} and great thanks for all your words and encouragement. I didn't realize you can only post 5x in 24 hrs otherwise I would of wrote back sooner.

I thank you again for your help in steadying myself before I decided what is best for me. I called the Oncologist this morning and said that I am a patient of so/so and that I was supposed to of received a call yesterday to set up an appointment and was told by the lady that the Doctor has not decided when he will see me yet?????????????????????

I heard my Doctor call his office an say he wanted the appointment ASAP! He then told me I would get a call today???!!!

I know they deal with this stuff all the time but I HAVEN'T and I expect someone to give me information. I called to get my records but my Doctors Office was closed today. When they open on Monday I will be going to request all my records, find out my type and grade and anything else they haven't told me. I NEED to know just what I am dealing with.

You guys are the best, thanks and I Hope and Pray you will all be well soon.

Kimberly - it really stinks that you have to wait over the weekend - weekends always seem to be the worst time because you feel cut off from the medical people who have the information. It''s just horrible waiting. I would feel like camping on the doctor's doorstep and storming in and demanding (nicely!) the full path report as soon as the place is open.

I had a lumpectomy on a Tuesday and got the path report on Friday. Even though the result was that I had to be rescheduled for a mastectomy, it was a relief to get the report. Knowledge is power but it's also sanity saving. I woke up every night at 2 or 3am from the time I was diagnosed until I had the mastectomy - about 5 weeks. I lost my appetite too.

Try to keep busy this weekend - outings with the kids, dvds, playing board games - whatever keeps your mind from going to dark places.

    Hugs,

    Jane xoxo

Jane's right, Kimberly.  Keep busy over the weekend.  We've all been there--having to wait for path reports, test results, surgery dates, etc...  It's nerve wracking!  Maybe you can dress up and go to a Halloween function??  I know it's hard, but staying busy will make the time go by faster and Monday will come before you know it.  Hopefully, that onc of yours will have you on his schedule by then.  I don't imagine that most oncs and their office staff have a clue what it's like having something sinister like a cancer growing inside of them.  You want to know the specifics, and you want it gone and you want it gone NOW!!  Sigh.....  Hang in there, hon!

    Love and hugs,

    Karen

Jane  and Karen, I will do my best to keep busy. Hubby came home today so we will probably go see a movie and go out to eat.
    Livingsstrong-Thanks for the {{{HUGS}}} Back at ya!! We all need them!!!{{Group HUG}}

Hubby got his flight information so he is leaving on the 6th and won't be home until the end of January. It will be very hard because he will be coming back to a different woman and I won't have him here for loving support but such is life. We are going spend as much time together this week as possible. (At least we can skype when he is gone.)

We all have so much to deal with it is amazing how we can get through it all with sanity and strength. I thank you all~

    Hi Guys

Kimberly, the waiting is the worst. No doubt about that at all. And it is worse when the weekend looms. I do hope you get a full dx next week then youcan PLAN and start taking a wee bit of control of your life back. Good luck love.

Got my last TAX on Tue - yippee - and go for my rads simulation on Monday. Alas, I have the 'problem' back. A completely distended bowel. I checked and it can be a system of peripheral neuropathy. I have numb fingers and feet already. It sound trivial, sniggeringly laughable almost, but I am in pain, cannot eat (at all) so I am feeling as weak as a kitten. I might have to go back to hospital again. When will things ever get back to normal????

I am worried that I am not well enough to go through rads. I have not heard of anyone else whose bowels have totally stopped working, except for gas. I am embaresssed to talk about this, but it has now been since mid August. Combined with the other s/e, I am really miserable and am scared that this will be a permanent condition I will have to live with. I know everyone will find it hard to believe how bad the situation has become, as I am on 3 lax medications to no avail.

I am scheduled very soon for a banding procedure (next week, I think - we have a post srtike on at the moment so am not sure of my date) and my bowel will have to be clear for that

Don't know if any of you can offer any advice, but if so, I would be massively grateful for any.

Thanks anyway for letting me unload.

Great news AE about you and UB!!!!! These wee nuggets of sunshine make my day. The old bootbace just don't stand a chance against you guys .........

    Hundreds of hugs

    Nettie xxx

Oh my, Nettie!  That sounds absolutely miserable.  You poor thing!  I'm sorry, I can't offer any advise.  I'll pray that it gets better.  Hang in there, sweetie!

We're taking Chase trick or treating in his best friend's neighborhood (right around the corner from us).  They are going as Mario and Luigi (from Mario Bros).  They're so cute!  Portia is attending a costume party at a friend's house.  Her costume is very skimpy and I'm not overly pleased with it.

Kimberly, I'm glad your hubby will be with you tonight.  Try to enjoy yourself!  (((((Kimberly)))))

    Karen

Karen, apart from being on the skimpy side, what was Portia's outfit like? Was she a vampire, ghoul... or something more glamorous?

    Love to all,

I had surgery on Thursday (core biopsy, sentinal lymph node and port placement).  Although I was a little sore on Friday, I was able to go to work on Saturday (I own a retail store) and church on Sunday.  I really thought I would be much more sore than I am.  Thankfully, I'm feeling pretty well.  I go for surgical follow-up today at 1:30.  I'm hoping that some results will be in but I'm not so hopeful that I'll be too disappointed if they aren't in yet.  I have my 2nd visit with the oncologist on Thursday.  My husband will be going with me to pick up my wig afterwards...what a weird direction our lives are taking!  My goal for this week is to get my chemo plan nailed down, now that my port is in and ready.

It's cool and damp here. I went to work today - it was ok. I have spent the past few days crying off and on and being alone. Maybe it's good that I go to work now, even part time. The man who used to be in my life doesn't seem to want anything to do with me. I know part of this is a result of a real "brain" issue (Asperger's) but he is intelligent, successful and I can't get over the hurt. Hope others have had a better day than I have.

Hi everyone.  Sigh.....I just had a call from my onc.  She reviewed the second liver test results and my enzymes are still a bit high.  She told me that the CT scan from back in May showed fatty liver.  Have any of you ever been diagnosed with that??  Anyway, she wants me to see a liver specialist.  GAWD!!!  I'm so sick of these medical issues.  I know I should be grateful that nothing serious has presented itself, but it just gets old.  Okay, done griping now.  I'm sorry for everyone who's having a hard time.  I think a group hug is in order!

Karen, a couple of years ago (in between bc #1 & #2) I was also told I had a fatty liver. I was in the process of losing weight so that did help me and my family doc suggested Vitamin E. When I was tested again a few months later, everything was back to normal.

Karen, I have fatty liver too. I didn't have chemo and I have never been hugely overweight, rarely drink (then it's usually just a glass of red) and have had a good diet. So I don't really understand it. I've read that it isn't weight related and that it is! I'm having more blood tests at the end of January to see if my weight loss and dietary supplements have helped. I hope the liver specialist will be able to sort out your liver. Oh - and I loved the Halloween photos - seriously cute!

Lisa - I'm so sad that things didn't work out with Tony. Sending you some sisterly hugs.

And hrf - I'm so sorry that you are also hurting. Sending you big hugs too.

Sue - I'm sending you are a blast of central Australian desert wind which is blowing in from the west as I type - hope it warms you up! Can we do a swap - send me some cold air for my hot flushes/flashes!

    Love to all,

    Jane xoxox
