Hello SOS ladies,
I tell you this 2nd round of chemo plays with your head. Makes me cry for no reason and I and tried alot!I wonder if it is from the stuff that is still in you ?!?!I have TE in me also, I fell like everything is swollen. I been trying to get out and do some walking. ok eoungh of me complainting. I was just wodering if any one else has these feelings!
-
Toni? What the hell is a chokecherry? LOL Google, how I adore thee. If you all want to make the cookie recipe I posted and cant find persimmon pulp, use pumpkin......it's marvelous. I'm an idiot. Not EVERYONE lives here in Indiana, and not EVERYONE has persimmons......next time I'll post a recipe with normal stuff in it. Maybe (evil grin)
Love you all! Take care of yourselves today, even if you don't have SE's. If you do have SE's, make someone else take care of you.

P.s. I was one of those kids in the tree story LOL I'm one of those adults too.......

Hi flacracker:
Sorry you had a rough go of it with round 2. I had second round on Thursday with shot on Friday. Felt pretty useless all weekend seem to be doing much better today. The feeling are normal and we all go through them. Even though I had shaved my head going bald really seemed to get to me. It is kind of an up and down roller coaster with emotions.
Where abouts in Florida do you live? I live in Pinellas county.
Hang in there my friend!
Barb

-
Hey Barb I live in Brandon, I been going to Moffit for my treatments!

OK Girls...last week, when I reappeared and promised not to disappear again, I typed a very long post, only to have it sit too long before sending and then pressed submit...only to have it disappear. Couldn't redo...just couldn't! I feel like I've missed so much...are we doing a reunion??? JANE'S planning it...GOODIE!!! VICKILYNN'S writing a book!! PAM'S the bodyguard!! OMG...I laughed so hard about the restaurant stare down!! I so would love to go to a breakfast & eat like a man!! My taste buds are like JANE'S...everything liquid tastes like salt and everything else needs more salt!!! FLACRACKER: I'm having my 3rd TC tx this Friday. I usually feel terrific for the first 2 days...then days 3-6 are the pits, then....for the rest of the time I feel like I don't have an illness (until I look at myself in the mirror!). NEECE: did you find out if the compazine was making you constipated? It doesn't bother me but the chemo nurses are always surprised that it doesn't have that effect...they say most people do have that problem with it. I'm just like a robot for the first 4-5 days, compazine and prilosec, aleve and tylenol...whether I need it or not!!! It seems to have worked, for the most part!
I am so proud of all of you for your pictures of bald and beautiful heads!!! I promise to add mine...although I can say right now that I'm a mix or conehead and nephritie so I look scary...you all look GORGEOUS!!!! I have to tell you something nutty I did this weekend...went to a wedding on Saturday with my daughter (hubby out of town). We got to the venue an hour away and were amazed at how calm everyone was, with the wedding being 20 minutes away. We asked to help out and pinned corsages on all of the bride's family (we're groom's friends). Thought groom's family was having pictures because we didn't see any familiar faces. Well, when they give me the corsage for groom's gma, I'm surprised because I didn't think PAUL's gmas were living! So, I say, "so which gma are you of Paul's"..she says, "I'm James' gma". I argued that she was Paul's. That's when everyone there realized we were at the wrong wedding. The wedding we were invited to was Sunday!!!! We laughed the whole way home. I was able to blame it on chemo brain!!! I read the invite....oh, about a hundred times.
Here's to all having a wonderful week! XOXO
-
HELP!!! Forgot to ask you all....are any of you losing eyelashes????? My dr said I shouldn't lose them with tax/cytoxan but...I am. Chemo nurse said young people usually lose all their hair...maybe I have young cells!!! Trust me, there is absolutely nothing feeling young on this body right now! Just wondering!!!
-
Your wedding story is sooo FUNNY!!! Thank you for that!
I am on Taxol/ Herceptin right now and my hair is progressively thinning but no eyelashes yet.
Amy
-
Hello SOSisters... it's nice to see so many posting today!
Barbt0323 - so glad you are feeling better!
Toni - snow, it's going to be in the 80's here tomorrow and then the temp is going to nosedive. I am not ready for cold weather or a cold head. Glad you are feeling better.
Flacracker - hang in there girl. We are all on an emotional roller coaster. I did the crying first treatment, this 2nd one I am just so so tired. We will get through this and you can moan, groan, complain whatever you feel the need to do right here! We will be here for you.
Pamelajo - I like pumpkin! I don't know if we have persimmons in NC or not. I can feel these threads just pulling us all together, Melinda's story about the tree, your tree.... don't you just feel that somehow we are all suppose to be connected?
RonnieKay - we have been missing you again! Yes, we are all bald and beautiful! Not only in body, but spirit too. Please post your picture - as Vickilynn said if you can't post it here, where can you post it? I loved your wedding story, did you go to the one on Sunday? Was it as much fun? Haven't had any eyelashes fall out yet, however, hair is definitely disappearing from other regions !
Amy - glad you are doing okay. I'm glad there are a few left that have hair, all I see in the mirror now is one spock ear and one dumbo ear with a bald head in the middle!
Positive Me & Vickilynn - did I miss you? Hope you both are well!
To all who haven't posted, I haven't forgotten you but not up to trying to type all the names in. Know I'm thinking about you and hope you are having good days!
Thoughts & prayers are with you!
Jane
-
hello gorgeous women
RonnieKay lovely to hear from you and your wedding story gave me such a good belly laugh.
Pamela and Barb we will be doing our next tx on the same day - 22nd- I will think of you from my big chair. I sometimes think the timing is so carefully done - right up until about 4or 5days before each tx I am utterly convinced I cannot go back and feel really ill if I think of that chair - then for the last few days I somehow feel OK about it - anyone else like that? Flacracker it is absolutely OK to feel the way you have about tx. It is basically a bad trip that must be done and there is no way of prettying up that truth. Your crying is your body and soul facing up to that reality.
Hey Barb I am also a vegetarian! Have been for about 10 years now. Love it!
Toni you are a hero having visitors at all! I somethimes feel like putting a sign on the door that says "If you plan to stay longer than 10 minutes, please be ready to pick up the vacuum or cook a meal" . That's on my grumpy days!
Love the idea of a blog. And a reunion.... sigh... but not sure if I could do the whole Australia to the US thing. Unless you gals want to all come 'down under'?? My husband and I had an overseas trip planned in April this year (first ever for more than 20 years) - to Malta - he had emigrated from there with is family in 1964 and not been back since. We had everything booked, accommodation, the lot, then I had the car accident! Even sitting in the car, waiting for the rescue service to come and cut me out, I remember thinking 'Bugger, I have really hurt my back - will have to take painkillers with me to Malta". How silly is that? Wasn't till I got to hospital (via helicopter!) and they told me of all the injuries I had, my husband convinced me the trip was off. Oh well. We might try again in a couple of years - but as you all know the whole bc thing is not easy on the finances.
Toni, thanks for asking, my arm is bit better in some ways but I have swelling and pain around the hand and wrist now - am worried it might be early stages of lymphodema - trying to get appointment with therapist but can't get in for a few weeks - so have taken to sitting with my arm raised whenever possible (this interferes with eating cakes, let me tell you!)
And yes I know what persimmons are - we have them here - my dad and LOVE them - Dad calles them "Percy Simmons" for fun.

Welcome to Nels032 - I really hope your treatment is as gentle as possible for you. But if not this is where you come to complain OK?

Well it is my birthday tomorrow (Wed) and guess how I am celebrating? An 8.30 am blood test! groan. But next week is my night at Sydney harbour so that should make up for it!
love love and hugs to you all.
Neece
-
I Have a bunch of things I want to say to you all, but I just wanted to post quickly and say Happy Birthday Neece!!!!! At 8:30 tomorrow I will have my first dose of A/C. Although my 8:30 and your 8:30 will be a bit of a difference I will still be thinking of you. I love the whole hotel/cafe/harbor thing it just sounds fabulous and you deserve it!! So I have a sister who is a vegetarian-wonderful!!
Pamela-you sweetheart, I figured out that I can get Persimmons at Meijer, do you have those in Indiana? Thank you for offering to mail them.
Susan-your story made me cry-that doesn't happen often, I love it and its cosmic connection to Pamela's tree.I am watching the Rockies play -gosh that stadium looks cold.
Jane-I'm in and don't ever say you are taking up room with your idea,
we all love them. I too love the blog idea, and just like you and VickiLynn I want to keep this going. I have already had radiation, so i can be a sounding board for that, Pamela is more of an expert though, but I think we can help each other all the way through and beyond. Ronnie Kay I am so glad you are back and hope you are well.
VickiLynn-if my memory serves me right yours is tomorrow too, number 4, i will think of you, how is your hubby?
Toni-sweety-you are so nice, we just bought a new snowblower and my hubby is jonesing can we come over? I hope you are well and your company is helping.
Melinda- I love the blog idea, all this creativity is almost making me want to pull out all those interesting fabrics, I haven't been creative in years, maybe now is the time.
Well Amy, Catherine, Barb, Onty, Flacracker and anyone else I missed much love and hugs to my September sisters.
I'll let you know how tomorrow goes. I can't thank you enough for helping me prepare, I'm not even nervous, how weird is that? I figure I have prepped all I can prep the rest I will take day by day.
Rest well Ladies
Barbara
-
Good luck for tomorrow Barbara.
I had AC #2 today. Relatively uneventful. Hoping the GI side effects do not bother me too much this time.
-
Oh and Neece your idea during the car accident doesn't sound ludicrous, after I collapsed this past spring I asked the nurse, just after transfer to the larger hospital, WITH THE STOMACH TUBE STILL RUNNING THROUGH MY NOSE INTO MY ABDOMEN, at 10:30 at night, needing 3 pints of blood, if they thought i could go to work the next day. We are women and we are alwasy trying to make everything a round us work and come together.
But it is what makes us special too!
Barbara
-
Thanks Onty-
I hope you have a restful night and a good week with few se's
Barbara

First of all, I think we need to pass the Chemo Brain award to RonnieKay for going to the wrong wedding! I love it... and not even knowing you were at the wrong wedding right away. We have to take the award from Amy/Ame at least temporarily!
Yes, tomorrow is my final A/C!!! Yeah!! Then a 3-week break. I think you're right, Neece, about the timing. I feel the same way about wanting to quit and then when it gets to the treatment I'm OK.
So many posts I can't even remember who said what --- but very encouraging and funny and warm and I enjoyed my visiting with you all. My old friend did come today and they took us out to Olive Garden for lunch (yum) and we had a good visit. But afterwards she said, "shall we go back to your place for awhile?" And I said "no, I'm really worn out and think I'll take a nap this afternoon." I was proud of myself. And I did - went home and went to sleep.
We're preparing for a big storm tonight on the west coast - lots of rain and strong winds, but I feel like a wimp when I see the news about storms in other states.
I was wondering if somehow we should have a list of our physical addresses somewhere --- I think if one of us is missing, we won't know how to find what happened.
Yes, eyelashes are getting thin... but then I was blond (turned to white/gray) so I don't have eyelashes that show unless they are mascaraed. (I don't think that was a word before now.)
Are any of you players of "Settlers of Catan"? Our son was here this afternoon and we played 4 games... great fun when I have half a brain.
Just realized I'm really rambling here.
Know that I'm so glad for all of you. I feel blessed to call you my friends.

Good Evening my lovely SOSisters,
I hope all who are having treatments are doing okay this week. Barbara I will be thinking about you in the morning. I know you are going to do great. I'm sorry to make you cry, but it was really a beautiful and cosmic thing to have happen, and sometimes tears are our bodies way of relieving stress, so I will say I helped you reduce your stress about tomorrow.
I think that we are going to find a way to have our reunion so that everyone can come. Jane has some really good ideas. Just you wait Neece, we are going to find a way. It just wouldn't be the same without you. I love your posts, and I am so happy about your visit to Sydney. Happy Birthday!!!!!
Toni, I know it has been so cold here too. Like Barbara mentioned, the poor Rockies are having to play baseball in football weather. We have had snow too, but not enough to need to shovel. Just enough to have to scrape ice off of the windshield at 6:45 am. Ick! I hope your company is helping you recharge your batteries. I personally, wouldn't want to see any family visits in the near future.
I scored some persimmons at my local grocery store, I'm not sure about the quality, but I am going for it and making the cookies. If they don't turn out I am blaming it on the persimmons not having fallen of the tree, and not having to have fought a deer for them.
My nail beds are so tender it is starting to make fine motor skills harder. Is any one else having that? I hope that it is temporary.
RonnieKay, your wedding story made me laugh so hard. It sounds like something I would do. I bet the groom's family didn't know what to do with you!
Onty, I hope all is well with you in the next few days. How is your hair doing?
Amy, hope you are still doing well. Did you already do other tx, and now you are on Taxol/Herceptin, or do you still have more after this?
Vickilynn and Jane and Catherine and Melinda, and all I love you and if the cookies turn out I'll save one for you!
Love and Hugs,
Susan
-
Dear Susan,
Thanks for asking. My hair is still here! Let's see what tomorrow brings.
-
RonnieKay - I thought I was gonna bust a gut w/ your story HaHaHaHaHa...Im still laughing. That made my day. I can still see your faces !! Oh girl... Oh, get your pic up girl - I bet you look great ! We are the sexy bald headed girl club !!
Pamela - Cant do anything except think of your cookies. My ass is already 20 lbs heavier due to the steroids !! Oh, girl. I love your smiling face and look forward to your posting everyday

Onty - glad to hear about the hair...jealous...but very glad. No, Im just cold here in the snow. Wore my wig for the first time Sunday. It was to church. Didnt want to scare GOD !! Hope you are feeling good today.
flacracker and Barb - So cool you guys are close. You should go get together. I have made a bestest friend off these boards - she lives in Alabama. Not close but that doesnt stop us !! Met her back in June and we hit it off instantly
flacracker - hope today is better for you, my dear.Susan - sorry about your nail beds - did you put some sort of strengthener on them ? Try that so they have a coating. Glad you found persimmons - I didnt know what they were so Ill be over in the morning to try them. You are closer to me than Pam - but then again, you are just as cold as me...my family was there in Denver last weekend for the Denver - Dallas game...Ooohhhh Dallas lost....
Neece - Happy Birthday, Sweetie !!
VickiLynn and Barbara - Im sitting right next to you today. Feel my virtual hug ?Congrats on #4 VickiLynn and congrats on getting started Barbara

I am resting today, girls. No plans and that is fantastic. Im 7 days post treatment and feeling good so will go to movie store and get movies today.
Thinking of you all,
Toni

Hello Ladies,
It is so nice to read about everyone's lives away from bc. My daughter turned 14 over the weekend and I hosted 12 girls for a sleepover, 8 relatives for a birthday dinner, 2 boys for a afternoon playdate, and took 6 more girls out for a birthday dinner. What a weekend! It was so fun to hear giggling and be around all that life. Everyone was so polite and upbeat. No one even spoke about bc. I loved it. Oh, I did wear a wig with the kids (my daughter's suggestion). I felt a bit awkward because many of the girls noticed, but they were way too busy chatting about boys and school to bug my daughter about it. Thank god.
Today, I am off to my third A/C. I am a bit nervous/anxious because of the nausea. I am much like RonnieKay (day 1-2 ok, 3-6 the pits). The doc is going to change up my anti nausea meds. Hopefully, that will do the trick.
Is anyone one on decadron (the pill) in addition to the iv drip?
Here's to all of you. Keep up the positive vibes.
-
Good Morning Sunshines!!!
Back at work today and rarin to go. I feel human again... or a close proximity there of.
Glad you found persimmons Susan! Now, go forth and bake my child. Glad you will blame the persimmon and not me if the cookies don't turn out.
They really are yummy. My nailbeds have been tender since a few days after the first tx. Now they are coming loose from the beds. Had this happen back 22 yrs ago when I took chemo..... and regardless of what any onc will tell you, if they come off, they will occassionally always come off or loose. Mine have for 22 yrs. Best thing to do for it is keep them out of water and pour peroxide under the nail until it dries up. Keep your nails short and when they eventually come loose, try to cut them back to where they are attached. It is called onocolysis. It is a fungus. It can be controlled. There is an antifungal you can buy at most acrylic nail salons that will clear it up too, but I just use peroxide.Toni, does BC makes my butt look big? I made a topic about it. LOL Eeeeat, eeeeat!!!
Jane, I hope you are feeling better today girlie!
China, you are one brave soul. My gosh..... crazy, but brave!
Happy Birthday NEECE!!!! Does the birthday dance. Today is my grandsons 2nd birthday too....and my sisters 42nd
Hasta la vista babies.....mama's gotta get back to work!
-
Happy Birthday, Neese!
Chinablue, I take Decadron 20mg the evening before my chemo and the morning of my chemo and then get an IV of Decadron as well. This is so I won't have an allergic reaction to the Taxol.
Susan, I am on weekly Taxol/Herceptin treatments x 12 then I have BMX in December. Then I have Adriamycin/Cytoxen every 2 weeks X4, then radiation (don't know that schedule) then I have 40 more TX of Herceptin. I haven't met anyone on these boards that is on my same regimen.
I guess I will have to hand over my crown to RonnieKay. It is well deserved. LOL
Love to all!
Amy
-
Chinablue, ask if Kytril is right for you. I suspect it will work as good as decadron without the appetite enhancing side effect of decadron.
Toni, you look beautiful bald.
Barb, Pamelajo, hope you have a good day at work.
All September Sisters, sorry I am not going back to look up all the names but do want to send a group ((HUG)) your way. Oh by the way, with AC #2, I think I went overboard with MOM last night and the damn burst this morning! Hoping I don't get diarrhea now....LOL. And I have an appointment with radiation oncologist at Sloan this morning. Want to start reviewing my radiation plan with her.
-
Good morning SOSisters ... hooked up to the iv and hoping day 5 is going to get better in a while.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NEECE! Sorry you have a blood test today, but at least you don't have the bad stuff. Enjoy the day! I so agree with you about how they time our treatments, I don't think I could do the bad stuff if there wasn't a 3 week break for me. We are all looking forward to hearing the details of your overnight trip. I am including you in this reunion thing - if we can get a sponsor then hopefully they will pay the expense!
BarbAnne41 - Hope your treatment is going well for you! Thoughts and prayers are with you as you start this first treatment. You will be fine and have one out of the way.
Onty - how are you feeling today? Hope you are doing well with no se's. Good look with your appointment!
Vickilynn - glad you had a good time at Olive Garden and a good visit with your friend. And good going on saying no and taking a nap instead! I will be thinking of you as you get your final A/C. I think you are right that we need addresses, will need them later anyway for the reunion.
Susan - I also have the nail thing going on. I don't want to lose my nails! Does this stuff just suck or what? Hope you have a good week at work!
Toni - I'm so glad to hear that I am not the only one suffering from steriod butt which amazes me since nothing tastes good but I manage to shovel it in anyway! Wish I was on day 7, I hate 5 & 6!
Barbt0323 - hope you have a great day a work and are feeling good!
ChinaBlue - thoughts and prayers are with you. Hope they get your meds adjusted so this txt goes smoothly for you! Let us know how you are doing. I also get the decadron + iv. My 2nd txt seems to be better as far as the nausea but I'm am so tired.....
Pamelajo - so glad you are feeling better. Hope you have a great day a work!
Amy - sorry you lost the chemo brain award but we still have time to regain it! I'm not sure anyone will be able to top the wedding. We all seem to have different regimens for this chemo stuff, radiation and I also have to do the HRT stuff. What is BMX?
To everyone I didn't post, will try to post later today. Hope everyone has a great day, txt or not!
Thoughts & prayers are with you!
Jane

Hello Ladies
I'm Back!! Sorry I was away so long. I have spent the last hour reading up on everyone and my brain is so full. Thrusday was my second tx and we had alittle problem. I had a allergic reaction to the taxotere. I started to get really bad stomach cramps, turned reddish purple and had difficulty breathing. They stop the tx gave me a breathing tx, IV decadron, IV benadryl, IV Pepsid and than after a hour I was ok. Nurse started the IV at a slower rate for 15 mins. than back to normal rate. Just alittle excitement for the office and my mom. Now I will have to take mega doses of decadron the day before my next tx and will get benadryl IV also. I didn't feel up to posting on Friday and on Sat. heading down the Jersey shore with my daughter for a girls weekend. She is 15 and we had a fantastic time. Alot of movies and hanging out on the couch chatting. It was just what the dr. order. Today is day 5 after my second tx and feeling ok just tired.
On another note- I am not computer savvy. I am going to ask my daughter to help me post my bald head where you guys have. I don't even know how to see your pictures. I also don't know how to PM. Does it mean private post? You all really need to help me I am a mess with computers. I am all for a reunion next year. Is there somewhere we can all write our names, city and state so I can keep it straight?
Well I am thinking of anyone having tx this week and sending positive thoughts.
Happy Birthday-Neece
Thank you again for letting me share this journey with all of you. It truly means the world to me.
THINK POSITIVE
chat with you soon
Catherine

Jane-

Toni

Hi Vickilynn and all:
The weather has hit in Central California and it looks like a good day for me to stay home. Is anyone else dealing with digestive side effects with their treatments? I was doing pretty good with my first 2 tx's and then this one, really bad indigestion and now constipation and nausea...I thought that I was a "chemo freak" because I was having so few side effects (at least my friends called me that!), but now it seems like everything is kicking in. One good thing is that I am not feeling as depressed as I was last week the day of treatment. Hope that everyone had a good weekend...I am going to try to get into work today even though I should probably stay home. I will try to post a picture, but I am seriously a computer "geek".
-
VickiLyn...tell us more about the Settlers of Catan...Sounds like something we would like too. I love games. On another note: you could use the blog to collect useful info/stories from all of us to fill in the blanks....feel free to use however it can help....

Just so you know- I'm 100% to keep this board to as it is! The blog concept for me is just a place to coordinate our story, or creativity, any recipes and anything else ya'll thing of. If anyone wants to be able to log into and post to SOS blog, please PM me send your names & your Sept chemo group name too, addresses and phone #'s (or any part of that you are comfortable with) Also I need addresses for when the pendant/necklaces are done. I will make a private area that only members can access, for that info. If you send your favorite song and artist I'll add them to an Ipod that will play when you log on. I am working on a blog concept today. Anyone with category ideas that you would like to see, please please feel free to share your ideas. PM me. We can easily add and adjust that at any time as well.
Neece.....Happy Birthday to you,Happy birthday to you, You look like a sister and you act like one tooooooo! I think you should sign up for the trip....I year from now is a long way to recovery...Don't give up on it yet....And who knows what this all will bring....many of us wouldn't give up a chance to come your way if the opportunity presented itself. Sign up and let's just see.... :-)
I'm exactly the same on the treatment thing....by 2nd week wednesday....I;ve forgotten how yucky I've felt and am living life to the fullest! Then...I'm just ready to get to the next..and BTW I'm with Vickilyn.....One more on the 26th, then all chemo is DONE! Then to lumpectomy and 6wks Rads... I will stay here with all you through everything. I can help with rads se's and all that jazz. I leave in a while to get my neulasta shot. Taking my Clariton 1 hour before....so far so good in that area.
Ronnie Kay...they probably would have loved you at that wedding... ya shoulda stayed...curious too did you go Sunday?
Susan I loved your wonderful story and I hope you'll share it on the blog....It is sooo special.
Pamelajo...looking for the big butt post....can't wait for chuckles from that! I was thinking if you could get the facemasks with the rubberband ear covers....you could snap them at the sick people coming to spread their germs...maybe even put a special message on the face cover part.

China...I've been affected by the Decadron...if you want to chat more on it...let me know what effects are bothering you most & I'll tell you how I've gotten it readjusted!
Onty, If diahrrea starts...eat rice or ckn rice soup or rice pudding whatever tastes good and maybe bananas...both will help Please share about your rad appt...Nothing set up here yet, probably because of the lumpectomy first. Soon enough though.
Ok gotta go..need a shower and my hair takes sooo long to get just right
! Sending some beautiful shades of falling leaves to you all in a fresh country breeze.... Hoping for a great and low SE day.....Bears are MIA so just sending you all a ME hug!
Melinda
