Good morning cuties!  Just catching up on yesterday's posts.  Had quite a busy busy day yesterday and I couldn't even peek at this site! boohoo!!  I am addicted I must say cause it was on my mind all day...wondering what everyone was up to! LOL!!  Had a girls night last night with our Sac office staff girls!  What fun!!  My 2nd acupuncture went much better than the 1st one.  She did my left side this time and she said she would do a lighter treatment.  It really helped my hip pain this time!!  Yay!  Then I had my permanent crown put on at the dentist, then huge deadline at work then physical therapy, and he says I am making good progress, my hip is getting stronger!

Ok, I want to test you guys, since chemo knocked my equilibrium all out of whack...I had to do this yesterday with the PT.  I was really wobbly on the mat so he put me on a solid surface (floor)...stand resting your index fingertips on something and lift up one leg...ok no problem...then close your eyes...I was all over the place and almost fell over!!!!!!!!!!!!  I was laughing...we tried again and again and kept switching sides.  So that's my homework along with this other squat type exercise to really strengthen my weak muscles!!

Spring, LOVE that table girl!  You are talented!!  I hear ya on the fumes, I think that when I clean.

For those of you waiting for test results...praying for the best news possible! hang in there.

Shout outs to all!  Love ya girls!

Vivre, I hate mammograms. Not only the squishing, but for 20% of us, they don't work at all!!! I had boob squishing and ultrasound and the SAW NOTHING and I had a huge tumor. Makes me nutso!!

Update: Did 45 min on the eliptical last night, over 3 "miles" of spinning in mid air! LOL!!! Lots of sweat, that's my goal!

Good quote Kari. "It's not all about you" type message!

    Spring.

Good morning, ladies!  Wow, you had a busy day yesterday, Kari!  Look at all you accomplished!  I know during chemo, accomplishing one thing a day was it, and then it took me several months to gear back up to a normal routine.  So as hard as days with lots of commitments can be, look at how far we've come!   I also just tried your little balancing exercise and did okay.  But I remember I couldn't do it shortly after chemo ended.

Well, I went to bed earlier than usual last night, so managed to be out and walking at 6:20 this morning, which was great, because it stayed cool for the 1.5 hrs. I walked.  I did 10,884 steps and was really dragging by the time I got home.  But it was a great way to start the day -- so much quieter at that hour than it is even an hour later when traffic and gardening crews are out in full force with their loud mowers and blowers.

Make it a great day, everyone  ~ Deanna

Just checking in and waiting. They found my mass last year with the mamo and no one could even feel it. So I am one that trust the mamo. I'm sure the tech's will contact the doctor if anything shows up out of sinc. I can always think that no news is good news. We had terrible storms yesterday afternoon. The town 15 miles away got over 10 inches of rain in the matter of hours. Cherry Point base was flooded and they couldn't even get off base. The street down here were flooded. There was 4 feet of water around the hospital. I had trouble driving home and took it slow. I even drive a SUV. needless to say I will go out today and try the grocery store again. Lightning was rough too. I guess it came down too fast for the drains to take. My mutt and I didn't get the afternoon walk in so we walked further this morning. expeting more storms this afternoon. I also got to yoga yesterday. Spring- she didn't know anything about the retreat at Salter Path. I did get to pull some weeds this morning. Will exercise some in the house. Cloudy and looks stormy again. I'm having trouble getting down on the floor and then back up. I'm scared to try standing on one foot. Must be the meds I'm on. I feel like I am in a haze most of the time. Have a great day. I will get my walking in at the grocery store. Seems like everyday I have off it rains! Joy

wow Deanna, you put me to shame with your walking!!
And Spring you are talented...I'd buy a table like yours.

But since I don't write that often, I must admit that it was Kari's comment about cleaning products that prompted this post.   I have returned to nature...not because of the BC but because of an asthma attack I had 2 years ago. It was my first and I landed in the emergency room with them running every test on earth to figure out what was going on.  It turned out that I had reacted to an overabundance of cleaning products.  After that I read about a study which said that our modern cleaners could cause asthma.  So I use vinegar and lemon juice and things like that to clean.  It takes a bit longer but I don't worry about the fumes. Whole foods and now even my local supermarket sell alot of "natural" cleaners so they are not hard to find.   Just a thought.

Mandy, I need "natural" fumeless paints. We have an odor free Kilz. I need to look harder.

How true Springtime!!!  But outside of making your own, I am not sure where you'd get them. (said in jest, I don't expect you to make your own).

I have been thinking about cleaners too-and they say you need to make sure to close them when putting them away so the fumes don't keep leaking out. I have been buying natural products--just don't know too much about what to avoid, what's good etc. Mandy--can you share what you clean with? I'm sure it's really simple things like white vinegar and lemon--our grandmother's certainly made do without all the elaborate chemicals!

I feel the effects of yoga yesterday but will try to squeeze in a trip to the gym tonight as I want to do something daily. Am really sleepy this afternoon and am hoping the green tea gives me some energy!! Have a great night ladies!

Deanna, thanks for reminding me of what I DID accomplish yesterday!!  The girls commented on how great I look also!  WOW Thanks girls! haha  and you are the superstar of walking, I must say...I think of you each time I walk.

Spring, you are the eliptical superstar!

Mandy, thanks for bringing up the alternatives to cleaners...geez an asthma attack?! That's scary.  Many times after cleaning the shower I get the worst headache and don't feel well.

Joy, thank goodness you came through those crazy storms in one piece!!  yikes

Oh right girlies!!  I got my tennies on today for the first time in weeks. Of course I had bandaids on too to protect my heel. So when ever the storms stop I will get back out and walk. Should have tried to figure out how many miles in the grocery store!  Also making raisin bread in the bread machine.Back to work on nights Friday and through the weekend.
     Spring love the table.

Spring I like to do furniture too. I found an old dresser that was really ugly and turned it into a vanity. It even has a glass sink that lights from below. And I had a little space in my office and I found a great bookcase at a garage sale for 20 bucks (solid oak). I painted it and could not believe that I could just squeeze it in without a quarter inch to spare. I could not have gotten luckier if I had planned either one. Wish I knew how to post pics.

I have been biking a lot but tonight did my mini tramp and free weights. I feel really lousy now if I miss a day, so I try to do an hour a day of something.

Vivre, isn't it amazing what paint can do? I am astounded how you can transform furniture. Do you worry about paint fumes? I guess I am afraid of strong chemical smells since the diagnosis. But I painted anyway! ahhhck!

Last night I did 40+ min on eliptical, over 3 miles spinning in air again. Guess what, I have found if I watch DVR'd episodes of "Divine Design" (w/Candace Olson) that the time just flies! But, alas, I have run out of episondes!!! LOL.

I need to do arm weights and the mini tramp. Thanks for reminding me Vivre!

Wishing a good good good Friday to all your gorgeous women!

Mumayan-Every time I see you cat pic, I chuckle. Last night, my big fat white cat (they could be twins) was laying on his back. I was going to go get a bottle of Pelligrino and take his picture, but he rolled over too soon. No beer in my house. LOL

Kari, been there with the balance act.  I have to say the neuropathy isn't better (I was warned it would take months) but continuing a variety of exercises and yoga have helped me compensate much better.

Been busy at work, but managed my exercise goals, leaves me with little time to get here and see how everyone is doing.  I was excited about the article encouraging careful weightlifting for lymphedema patients.  Got so depressed listening on the threads talking about it I had to come here and get my dose of motivation.  I get it.  I'd want to punch the person who told me to weight lift to cure my lymphedema.  I just think its wonderful someone is researching it and finding that those of us with lymphedema under the right circumstances can do an exercise that helps  prevent the loss of muscle mass and bone density that comes with our treatment.  I say yahoo to more exercise.  Hope everyone has a great day and weekend.

    Good Friday all you cuties!!

Since a few of you are talking about weight lifting, I thought it was interesting that my DH forwarded me the following link (I think its the one kmmd is referring to?):

    http://www.cancerconsultants.com/weight-lifting-may-be-safe-for-breast-cancer-survivors-with-lymphedema/

Also, scroll down on that page that comes up and there's a few good articles there as well.

Didn't exercise yesterday, I was tired out from the day before.  Did get up and stretched and did some light arm weights.  My older DD is coming to have lunch with me today and my younger DD is driving up from the Bay Area for the weekend (she better not have the flu this time).

I asked the PT the other day about adding Pilates and Yoga to my routine now (although I've slipped some in anyway and didn't tell him)...He said yes, start with Pilates only for 2 wks, so OK!

Let the following motivate you!  Make it a WONDERFUL day!

Gals, I have been lurking and not doing.  I need to get my motivation back and start exercising.  You have all been a great inspiration to me on this and other threads.

Time to get the pedometer back on and start moving.

    Pump me up!

Hi, didle20Dian!  Now you're committed!  We'll be looking for you to check in often, although it looks like you haven't been finished with chemo too long, so don't expect too much from yourself all at once.

mum ~  I was wondering where you were.  A week at a friend's cottage sounds wonderful!

I just got back from L.A.  DH had some business and suggested I ride along so that he could use the carpool lane.  After all he's done for me, how could I say no?   Anyway, we left at 6:00 a.m., and I'm pooped tonight.  So much traffic in there.  Anyway, just checking in with you all, and I'm still going to try to squeeze in a mile or two before it gets dark.

Have a great weekend, everyone!     Deanna

Hi to all you awesome motivators!  I so enjoy reading your posts and they sure do motivate me to get going!  Only 11 more rads to go...thanks goodness, as I crashed today.  Up to today, I have been doing really well, working full time and walking 1-2 miles a few days a week.  It was hard to give up my walk tonight, but just couldn't do it.  Hoping I will wake up refreshed tomorrow, so I can get back at it!  Hope you all have a great weekend!

    Hi ladies and happy friday!

Spring--I also luuuuv watching DVR'd Divine Designs--someday I'll have the in-house elliptical so I can watch TV and get some exercise at the same time!

Ok--here's my silly giggle about someone's post--"who are you calling a mini tramp?" (Sorry had to share! )  hee hee!  :)

No exercise today other than taking Beemer to the park--I had a bunch of errands (I know, no excuse)--but I DID finally get a bathing suit that hides my scar--yippee! I never thought I would find one. I am going to a retreat kind of gathering next week with people from my DH's work so needed to find a suit that covers a bit better. Whew! Also got some cute t-shirts.

Oh and I had to post this--so now that I am (hopefully!!) forever done with surgery, they find this out--that they can use lidocaine with the radioactive dye injection to lessen the pain with no ill effects. Oh well!

Happy Saturday everyone. I tried adding a pix of my mutt and me. It isn't very good but I'll get a better one later.  Sun is actually trying to come out. It has rained for three days here and very bad storms at that. Finally got the dog walked this morning. I walked her in the rain yesterday. My neighbor is going to stop by and leave me a watermelon. He grows them down the street and they are so sweet and jiucey. Everyone have a great day.
