    TMI alert: TMI alert:

    The other day, maybe last week, a little piece of dried skin flicked off my nipple.  Today, I could remove the remaining bits that were tightening up in the creases of my nipple.  What a relief, those pieces were quite hard and wedged these crevices, any time my nipple brushed against anything, it hurt.  Now all I have left is the permatan and the inability to sleep on my stomach.

    ReneeS Keep the 2X4 as long as you need it.  I borrowed it from Rachel_BC but I think she will agree.  Perhaps we all should always carry one in our purse just in case!  Wink  kidding aside can they fit you in??? or call you in case someone cancels.  Waiting that long sucks!

    I had the results faxed to my surgeon. The only test scanned in so far was the CT and no results for bone scan yet. The reason it is so long is b/c dr is going on vacation!!!

    I just noticed that I no longer sweat under my radiated boob.  The rest of my body is a soaker hose but my left boob is dry.  Anyone Else?

    Yes I am having a hotflash as I type. I am "schviting" everywhere too. It has not been hot here this summer either and the heat has never bothered me before. I lived 13 years in Fl and rarely used my ac in the car(only after my son was born). In fact most of the time I was always chilly or comfortable.

    Off to the dr w/ my son (ADHD therapist appt)

    ReneeS  OMG, someone took my boob!  Oh wait a minute I had a mastectomy Surprised  Just kidding!  (I apologize in advance if I offend - kidding makes it far less distressful)  But I did just realized that not only do I not sweat under my arm/s but I only get about 4 hairs there, albeit stubborn little critters!  And this is both - what's up with that I only had radiation on one side!  If only it involved leg hairs....  Wonder if Radiation kills sweat glands?

    BTW have any of you all had Mamo's or ultra sounds since the whole BC thing.  I had one this week on my remaining boobie and Ultrasound to check on seroma and what I thought was a cyst but it turns out the cyst was a adenoma or a fibroadenoma.  So any of you Rad girls that are post menopausal did they do a biopsy then remove, or leave if only benign?  I am having surgery on 26 Aug 2009 to re close my incision and am thinking of seeing if the surgeon will remove the ademoma's don't want to leave anything to chance, "when in doubt pull it out" might just be my new motto!

    SusieMTN the only way to deal with this whole cancer thing is to joke. Yesterday as I was going thru all the pre-op paperwork and anestheia questionnare, the nurse asked " Why are you having thsi procedure" I simply said, "because I do not want anymore periods". She gave me a look. So I told her the whole story and then she understood. I said I have to look on the bright side of everything. Why is it that so many people in the medical field act like they have no sense of humor.

    SusieMTN girl, that's why I have to come here.  No one else would get my jokes or make me laugh like you and the other gals.  I totally laughed out loud at that one ...

    Meanwhile... if your surgeon doesn't get that incision closed up really nicely I am coming for him with a 2 x4- with nails in it.  

    Mary- your grace in dealing with these people is just phenomenal.  I am seriously thinking of moving to your area or renting a place there.  Want a new neighbor?

    You guys are so right.  I make jokes about my "fake" boob and everyone just looks at me.  They have to realize that we have fake boobs to save our lives.  It could be worse.  We still have a sense of humor. 

    I have already had a mammogram on the other boob.  It was easy and very simple. Not pain, no problem.  In the very beginning they thought that there were unknown lumps in that breast also.  We did a MRI guided biopsy (one of the worst days, very bloody, I fainted and had a hemotoma).  But it all worked out OK, nothing there.  THey left 2 markers where they biopsied, so they now show in all mamo's.

    With all that said, I have decided to have that breast taken.  Surgery is set for August 11th.  They were going to give it a reduction, a lift and an implant, to get it to match the other boob (the new fake one).  I decided to have it taken.  I just went to my preop appointments and found out that she wants to take up to 4 nodes when in there, just to make sure there is no cancer.  I am not only scared but didn't even think there could possibly be a chance of more cancer.  I just wish this nightmare was over.  I hate being scared.  I have not spoken to my husband about this yet, he is going to be so upset.  He also just wants this over.

    Good one susie.

    No burden here.  I would do the same thing.  Keep us posted. My SIL had the other one taken 5 months ago and they took a few nodes as well.  I think it's standard procedure.

    They are taking my sentinal node and what every is attached to it.  She said that she does not think that it will be any more than 4 nodes.  I guess I am just mad because I didn't expect it.  I guess it is standard procedure to make sure there is no cancer in the (other) boob even if all reports state there is none.  I should feel thankful that they are being this careful with me, I just don't want to go through it.

    kristifromsandiego: I have come to the conclusion that some Doctors simply need to know how to communicate with cancer patients.  See from my point of view if they said "now we are going to do so in so not because I THINK you have cancer but just to be diligent Or I just want to error on the side of caution.  But if they say nothing and then you find out they are checking for cancer or if they blurt out .......this may be cancer coming back......  They scare the s#%t out of us and put our attention on CANCER.  I for one WANT all my energy to go toward healing, exercise, eating a good diet, happiness, joy, fun and LAUGHING but NOT needless worry. 

    Kristin be kind to yourself and do something just for you this weekend - something you REALLY love. 

    Rachel_BC  - Stand ready with that 2x, just in case. Wink

    Susie,

    Thank you so much for your progressive thoughts.  I am just so tired of this whole thing....I want to go on vacation forever.  How do I manage that.  I am playing this weekend, anything to keep my mind off next Tuesday.  My daughter and I are going shopping then to the Del Mar Horse races and then going to watch the concert after that.  My husband and son are out of town (a well deserved vacation for both of them before the storm hits).  I wish I could just fast forward for 2 weeks when the worst will be over.

    man I wish there was more I could do.  meanwhile, does this mean after its all done that your BC risk is like reeeeeallly reeeeeealllly tiny?   That would be a wonderful goal to attain.

    Well, I won't have any more boobs left so I guess I can't get breast cancer.....we just have to hope that I don't get any other cancers or that it has not spread.  I am optimistic, just sad that I have to go have this done.  Thank you for your support.  Kristi

    Sorry so little and so late, been slammed all day with big life stuff... not cancer but anyway... Kristi that's a good goal, and you'll have perfect foobs and not have to wear a bra.  The release from the fear will be liberating!   Have you sought out a second opinion for a surgeon because you had problems with the last surgery?

    Mary, thank heavens you posted.  All I can think of is smartass comments about observing you ;)  Hang in there chickadee!!!

    kristifromsandiego Wishing you the best possible outcome on the 11th of Aug. I get it about being just "tired" of all this, I have felt like that too.  But we just have to continue on with our treatment plan!  I hope for all of us there will be a day maybe 10 + years down the line when we only deal with yearly checkups, and we can call ourselves 10 yr survivors!  Hang Tough!

    I will be finding out on that day if they will take out the fibroadenoma in surgery when they reclose my incision or in a seperate biopsy.  Actually next week is my "fun week" 4 appts and another blood draw.  WoooHOO, ok NOT.  More like hell week.

    Mary22  Well done on getting thru! Another step DONE!

    I have never posted a picture, but have thought about it.  You know it is odd, I look at myself and I see a different person than what I use to be....I am not really that fond of it.  I use to feel that I looked more feminine, and kind of soft.  This new hair is only about an inch long and makes me look so tough, I don't like it.  I look forward to the day when I look more girly.

    Wow Suzie 4 appointments...you win the prize.  I hope all are very boring.  I won't be out of the hospital till Thursday so Please let me know.....however it might be a day or so after that till I get on the computer.
