nelia48 I actually had the lap band placed in August of 2006. I've lost 40 pounds in that time - not as much as I would have liked but still 40 is 40.
I actually searched the board for "lap band" to see if there are other BC patients on here who have the lap band because I'm curious how they delt with it through treatment.
I'm happy to answer any questions you have with my personal experience. Just message me privately if you want.
In the meantime - are there other BC patients who have the lap band? I'm considering a complete "un-fill" while undergoing treatment to ensure I am able to eat as normally as possible but I really have no idea what to expect through chemo and radiation. I would love to chat with anyone who's been through this.
Thanks!!

Hi, everyone! Just catching up on everyone's good news here. So happy to hear that you are all moving on with your lives, recovering, and best of all, SMILING!!!!!
I've stayed away from the discussion boards --- don't know why --- just thought I needed a break from thinking about it all. I centered my thoughts on dieting, the drastic need to lose a LOT of weight, etc. It was a good thing for me to do, though I found I don't lose weight as fast as I used to when I was younger.
Had my 3 month check up Friday and all is going fine. I've lost 30 pounds in 3 months -- a good thing! About 120 to go, though!!!!
Hope everyone is doing really well! Will check in more often!

Hurrah nelia!!!! 30 pounds is WONDERFUL!!!!! Great to hear from you. I think its great you can stay off the boards too.

I just reconciled my bank statements back to June... looks like the worst of my side effects (aside from the insanity with the burns) was the months AFTER RADS

Great news all the way around ladies. Nice to see everyone check in.

GIRLS HELLO! Nice to see you all back! I wanted to post something that has helped me a lot. It was a supplement to "Cure" magazine (free) and it dealt with "Survivorship" both those Cancer free and those with disease still present. I was feeling, hmmm, just not quite right and read the supplement and felt much better!
So my husband and I have the great privilage of packing gauze into my wound that will not heal! Now if anyone reads this and perhaps had a less than great weekend, want to change? Actually not so bad, but boy could I make it that way if i chose!
-
Well after I had a panic attack in the Women's Imaging Center, I am happy to report that my first post cancer mammo came back clean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ladies! Well, today I will find out the results of my CT scan and I am hoping I will come home and celebrate rather than be in a puddle of tears! I have been having pains in the upper right side under my ribs. I hope this is not liver met's - that will really piss me off! All my blood tests are normal and actually I feel great, energy has returned and I have been taking full advantage of it. So say a prayer, have some good thoughts for me etc........for me!
Hugs to you all!
Susie

kristi- new knockers yay! I am a D these days so I I can relate to wanting a smaller size. What size did you pick? All the best!!!
SusieMTN- well you gotta be freakin out but hang in there and I will be praying for you for sure! Please let us know what info you get? Is the pain on your right side the same side as the bad boob that was radiated?
-
I woke up this morning and decided today's going to be a good, good day (Black Eyed Peas)! It was CT scan came back normal. Doctor thinks that it may be a little Cholecystitis. What a relief that was! So I am very happy and relieved! AND I don't have to see the Onc for 3 months! Yea! All is normal all is good!
