Ellie - I am so very sorry... such a sad situation... I hope you can find comfort in the memories. Best wishes to you and your family.
Liz and all of the border patrol... you keep our hearts beating! Thank you so much for putting it all together! Love ya!
-
Ellie, I am so sorry to read of the loss of your MIL. I am glad your afghan arrived when it did. As Liz said they do seem to arrive on days we need them most. Wrap yourself in it and may the love you feel give you strength and comfort.
Madison, did the box of squares arrive? I guess I need to try to learn to border; MB sorry I won't be at Pinkstock, I needed a few lessons.
-
Naniam,
Yes, your box of wonderful squares arrived. I have been bordering squares all week so the next hugaghan can be made of hugs from all of you.
You and Richard are in my thoughts and prayers. Please let me know if I can help in anyway.

I think what you all do is wonderful. I get choked up everytime I read someone who posts when they receive their afgan. Just wondering, how is it determined who received an afgan?
-
Bonnie,
We receive suggestions for recipients by members through the PM system. A PM can be sent to myself or Lizws with name suggestions. Please remember that we will need address information also.
We never give out the address to anyone.
Liz and I coordinate the list of hugaghan recipient names and as we complete the afghans they are mailed to these individuals.
Hugs to all,
Madison

I am a crocheter and knitter. The link in the original post does not work. Is there a place to find the pattern (or dimensions) for the squares? I would love to contribute!
Alaina
-
Alaina the dimensions are 9 inches by 7 inches............Happy crocheting all!.......As soon as I finish my baby booties and a dove doily I am going to start my squares again!........
-
Thanks HollyAnn, so we can use whatever pattern we want, just so it comes out to 9x7?
Cool!
Thanks!
-
welcome alaina !
as holly mentioned 7 x 9 (or 9 x 7) , machine washable/dryable medium weight ... knit or crochet ( i so envy those who can knit - i've got too many thumbs
for that )
and i have some "poofy" flowers in my hug - i think they're terrific ...
on the newsy side .. pending results from the surgery (finding nothing else & SNB) they're saying that my sis may "only" have to do mast surgery, ooph, and A.I. ..no chemo or rads ... please keep her in your prayers !!
-
Absolutely Jenni!........Gentle hugs to your sis......How old is she by the way?........
-
Jenni...CONGRATS on the 5 years!~.........
-
Aliana,
Welcome to the group. Jenni gave you great advice on the project. Send me a PM if you would like me to send you some simple 7x9 crochet instructions.
We have some wonderful knitters that may have some suggestions for you.
Jenni,
Congratulations on the 5 years
AND
I am praying for your sis and hoping for the best outcome possible.
Hugs to one and all

Holly,
Is Alpharetta, GA close to Warner-Robins/Macon Georgia? My DD and SIL are stationed at Robins AFB in Warner-Robins. I am in GA a few times a year. I'll be in Macon in early September.
-
thanks for congrats .... i'm hoping it is helping sis to know i'm still ok .... she's 47 ... ten years younger than me ...
-
just heard from my sis ... she just got a delivery and couldn't figure out who in oklahoma would be sending her a package ... she is surprised and grateful for the thought and the wishes .... arrived (as always) when a hug is appreciated .. she met with the plastic surgeon this morning and he has recommended she wait about 3 weeks after mast to do the expanders and she is comfortable with this plan ... thanks from both of us for the time and effort you all put in to this project !!
-
jenni...... oh good! I'm happy it arrived safely. She's in my thoughts and prayers. 5 years!!!!!! Congrats.... I will be 4 tomorrow. Can't believe it's been that long since I met you in the chatroom. Hugs to you.
Alaina... welcome. We are always happy to have more join us. When you're ready to mail your squares, just yell and we'll get you our addresses.
Lucy..... nice to see you.
I'm going to be working on bordering this weekend and will then start on another afghan.
Hugs
-
Alaina - WELCOME! Just a suggestion... cut a piece of corrugated cardboard to 7" x 9"... it's a great way to make sure your squares (although they technically are rectangles) are the correct size. Have fun. Thanks for joining us!
jenni and Liz - CONGRATS jenni - WOO HOO FOR YOU - 5 WAY TO GO! You, me and Liz are all Elite Lob gals! lol And Liz OMG - I just realized this... you were dx'd three days before me in the same year - 2005! We are both, almost 4 years out!
-
Laura...... happy early cancerversary to you! Yes, you, jenni and I are lob gals. jenni helped me SO much when I was fist diagnosed and wandered into the chatroom. It's great to say I'm a 4 year survivor as of today.
I'm working on bordering and making squares. Thanks so much everyone for your continued support.
-
Liz,
Congrats on 4 years........
Laura,
Congrats on 4 years
love and hugs,
Madison
-
You girls are the best! This time of each year since my dx... is very emotional for me. I had a very bad experience at the center I was dx'd at. I felt like I was dx'd with Leoprasy... (sp?)... they shuffled me out the back door so all the women in the waiting room wouldn''t see me sobbing. It was horrific. Looking back... I cringe... but being a part of this program... helps me to forget all the negatives. Thank you for letting me be a part of it!
-
Sisters - hoping you are all well or at least on the road to recovery. For those who have lost friends and loved ones, I hope your pain subsides.
I have decided my flowers will always be in pink in honor of us. The pink zinnias are doing best this year. We have not had much rain so I have to water them every other day. The silly impatiens are all leaves and no flowers.
I have a box of 40 knitted squares (not bordered) to go in the mail. Who needs 'em?
-
Happy 4th Cancerversary Laura!.......Every year cancer free is a great year no matter what else happens.............
-
Donna, you can send them to me. I'll share with Madison. I am low on squares - I've been making some so I would have enough to make an afghan. Thank you so much for helping us out.
I'm off to work on more.
Have a wonderful evening ladies.
Hugs
