Kathleen: Hope you are feeling better and getting the treatment you need to help you get better. I can identify with you with feeling no one cares. My husband died on Thanksgiving 2006. We were each others' best friend. We were always together. We didn't go out with other couples. Now I wished we did. For the three weeks that I couldn't drive after my mastectomy, I realized I could die and no one would know for two or three days. I have never been one to call people and just talk on the phone. I have two grown children, but they have their own families and lives. They don't call everyday to see how I am. I have always been the strong, healthy one. I don't think I called my mother everyday to see if see was okay. My step-dad died within 10 weeks after she died. I am a kindergarten teacher, but not working during the summer, so I don't see people on a regular daily basis. I realize with this cancer, I need to be much more social. Also, I realize that I don't want to be alone for the rest of my life. I am 60 and don't consider myself old. Writing on these threads is a help. But, as I said, I can identify with you. Debbie
(((((((HUGS to you))))))

Hi Debbie........it's good to see you on this thread. Please stay with us. Everyone needs SOMEONE, and there's alot of caring and compassionate ladies here. You really get attached to others here and get worried if you don't see them for a few days. So, please make us a "habit". We'd love to have you!!
Ok........Kathleen.....I hope you're feeling better. I DO think about you and praying for you every single day. Can't wait till you're out of the hospital. Lucy is supposed to be getting us an address, and when she does, you better watch out. You're gonna have alot of reading to do. Maybe it will pass the time. Of course, I'm sure they're working with you in therapy.
(((((((((big gentle hugs for you today))))))) can't wait till you're home again.

Good morning Kathleen! Hope you had a good night. It's Thursday, 7/2. Maybe you'll be coming home soon! I sure hope so. Are they feeding you good? Taking good care of you.......shoulder to feet? Hope you feel like a million bucks when you get out.
((((((((((((((((big gentle hugs for ya girl)))))))))))

Coonie: Thank you for all your thoughts and thoughtfulness!
I read everyone's comments and am so amazed by your compassion.
I am sleeping better now, but I have decided not to take anything. That seems to help. Someone mentioned anxiety. Some of my anxiety I know is about my son. I know I shouldn't, but my mind won't stop thinking at night. My son is getting remarried on 7-11 and he and his finacee are doing everything themselves, including the food and the cake. I said I could do the deviled eggs. He finally said yes (I think it is because he always liked mine). They bought 40 pounds of pork that they are cooking so they can have pulled pork - barbequed and plain. I said I could do some of that. He finally said yes to that. I want to do more, but hope I can do this. You know what I mean?! They both work full time. They both have kids = my son's sons are 13 and 10. He gets them every other weekend. She has two girls - 9 and 2. Everyone gets along very well. The little girl absolutely adores my son. The lady is really great and she makes my son happy and he makes her happy.
Besides the food, they are moving everything themselves. They found a house they can buy on contract. Both have been working really hard to fix it up. He has this one chair that weighs about 500 pounds. That piece of furniture worries me mainly because he wants to put this down in his basement.
He was so hurt after his first wife decided to call it quits. His ex-wife had men "friends", but kept telling everyone they were only friends. She told my son on their anniversary six months after they split, that she would go back with him and try it again. Two days later she told him she was 3 months pregnant with her "friend's" child. He was absolutely crushed. I know it takes 2 to keep a marriage working, but both need to really be committed to it, especially if you get back together. After that, he was done with women. I don't think he even considered dating for a year. He and this lady have been together now for a year and have had their ups and downs. He is 34, but has grown a lot through this experience. You know, no matter how old they get, they are still your children. I wonder if my mother thought that about me when I remarried the second time. She probably did and kept it to herself. Thank you for letting me talk about this. I don't have anyone that I can say this to and not worry that it might get back to my son and his future bride.
Thanks. Debbie

Awwhh Debbie....we're glad you're here. And no matter how old your kids get, they're still your babies and you're gonna worry. You just want them to be happy, and if they hurt, you hurt. It sounds like he's been able to get on with his life. I hope his new bride will make him very happy and that'll take some of your worry away, I'm sure. Plus, you're getting two new granddaughters. How neat is that!!!! So many marriages now have blended families and it seems that most do a really good job keeping it all together. Your deviled eggs sounds delicious. I always said my mom makes the best too. When we have get-togethers, that's one of the things she brings.
Hope you have a good day. Kathleen will be excited to see a new friend posting on this thread. She's had a rough time and is now in the hospital, but we're hoping they're helping her get better and that she'll be good as new when she gets out.
(((((((((((((gentle hugs to you)))))))))
Maybe after the wedding you'll be able to rest better. You probably just have alot on your mind.

-

Happy 4th, Kathleen. I hope everything is doing better. It will be great to have you back!
Happy 4th, everyone.
I would like her address, too. I don't know how to do PMs. I tried it once, but it wouldn't let me put anyone's name in.
I realize it is the 3rd, took me a while, though. I better remember, I have a massage scheduled for 1:00 this afternoon. My shoulder and back feel so tight. Probably, some of it is from the computer.
This is the most enjoyment I have when you can't do things you need or would like to do as well as you could. Some things, not suppose to, they say. Oh, well, I'll just have to figure this out. Anyone else have should and back problems?
Debbie

Debbie,
To send a PM, click on the persons name above their avatar. To send me one you would click on Makraz. Then on the next page, select send a private message, which is over towards the right hand side. You can practice on me if you'd like.
Happy 4th Kathleen! Hope you are doing well. I think about you all the time. Hang in there!

Hi Kathleen--sure hope you're doing good on this Friday. Praying each day brings you closer and closer to being painfree and that you're able to go home soon.
Maybe you'll be able to see some fireworks from your window tomorrow......or at least watch some on tv.
(((((((((gentle hugs to you))))))))
-
Kathleen....just a few fireworks for you just in case you missed them. Hope you've been able to accomplish alot today toward your recovery. Sending hugs and prayers still that the doctors and rehab people can get you back and going in the right direction real soon. Can't wait to have you back on the boards posting those cute pics again. Gentle hugs (((((((((((((Kathleen))))))))))
Let us know if you are able to get near a computer. We'd love to hear from you and how you're doing.
-
Happy July 4th Kathleen!!! Hope you are recovering well. Take care. Gentle hugs.
-
Hey did anyone get an address for her yet??????
-
I was wondering the same thing Dream. She'll be giving it to us herself soon.
-
Good morning Kathleen! Don't know how many days this has been for you, but I sure hope and praying you're making great progress!! Who knows, you might be ready to do the walk with Checkum this month. Still sending you big hugs and bigger prayers for a speedy recovery.
-
Hi Kathleen.....Hope it is not too late to say how sorry I am too that you feel like no one cares. I have a SUPER bad habit of finding one thread and staying there.....time constraints and not always that good with the computer. I found you the first time on the Older Ladies forum and I keep going back to that one.....I actually see many of the other ladies I first saw there...hi Deb from Ohio.
Anyway, anyone who has been on this journey cannot help but care and want each and every one of us -- whomever we are, to do well and to be well.....and most of all to stay well. If I never remember to come back here looking for you just know that someone out in this world is always praying for you and wanting optimum wellness for you.
Hugs, Jackie

I just talked to Kathleen. She sounds pretty good. I think she's a bit tired of the hospital food....said she thinks they ship it in by bulk.......yuck:(
Anyway, she will probably be in for about 3 more weeks. They're treating her with antibiotics, so maybe it'll heal up. It was really good to hear her voice.
I'm sure she would LOVE some cards!!!
