Kathleen, I'm sorry this physio is causing you so much pain.  Be sure to tell your therapist if it's worse.  Prayers it lessens today.  Gentle hugs.

Between the doctor and the PTs due to some miscommunication, word did not gey out about my therapy; hence, I was not getting passive therapy for 2 weeks.  Nice, heh!  That's why it is so painful now.  A neighbor has agreed to come in three times a day while my sister is gone. Didn't Blanch of a Steetcar Named Desire say "I have always depended on the kindness of strangers."

Kathleen, praying that all will go well for you this week.

I too was having a bit of a pity party this weekend. June 11 one of the younger women (I will call her BP) at church had to have a hysterectomy and bladder tack up. Well she was having problems with the bladder part of the procedure and this week, her husband and 2 daughters are at church camp, leaving her by herself all week. I got a call Friday evening from the president of the ladies group about taking food to BP this week while she is by herself. It just 'flew all over me'. When I had my surgery 2 yrs ago, nobody other than my family and my hairdresser (she gave me a meal to heat up when my mom took me over to get my hair washed after my release from the hospital) checked up on me to see if I had food in the house. My hubby is a long haul trucker leaving me by myself from Sunday afternoon til Friday night or Saturday morning. I was feeling like a reject from the church. I shouldn't complain, my family did take good care of me but it would have been nice for some others from the church to come by.

Sheila you're stronger then me...I think I would have asked where BP was when I had my surgery......that's horrible, especially for a church to do to somebody...

Sheila:  When you are a caregiver, you just take care of people who need your help.
As I go through this experience, I've thought 'just wait until one of you need help, we will see what you do.'  I can't even finish that sentence before I realize I would take care of them, no matter what because that's the way I'm wired.

As I read these posts I realize how many care givers are out there who are not being taken care of when they need it.  That makes me sad.

Have a Blessed day, fellow care givers.

Good afternoon Kathleen. Just thinking about you. How much longer before your shoulder is HEALED?? You know, Jo is right about the caregiver scenario. While I was going through treatment, etc., it was really hard to ask for help. I just always thought I could do it myself.

I find that when I'm dealing with my mother (she's only 66), but she lives alone and occasionally needs help with things. I don't ask anymore.......I just do it. I may call on my way out to see her, ans ask if she needs anything from the grocery store......she always says, "no"....but I'll stop and just pick up things I know she uses and likes. Even personal hygiene stuff. She uses something for her false teeth so I'll get her a pack..knowing it won't ruin even if she does have some at home. I used to call and ask if she wanted to go out to eat.......now I call and tell her I'll be there in 30 minutes....be ready because we're going to eat. It works really good that way. And if she'd tell the truth. she REALLY enjoys it. But she's the type that wouldn't admit to enjoying it.......LOL

OK...enough rambling. I hope you're getting the help you need. If I lived nearby, I'd sure help all I could. But some people just don't know "how" to help and even if you ask them to, they still don't know what to do.

Big hugs to you Kathleen......I'm praying you can bounce back after this and live your life to the fullest!!!

Coonie, that is such a great way to help people out.  I did the same thing a couple years ago when my friend, a single Mom of 3 under 8 had a mast.  I just showed up, or called along the way.  I know she loved it too because she wasn't asking for help, I knew she never would, but she was getting the help she needed.  I also hate when people say "call if you need anything".  Who does that anyway??

Yep, nothing like grabbing the bull by the horns and actually DOING something to help out.  It also makes the receiver feel like less of a burden.

Sharon -- that is exactly right - just take care of little things so we don't feel like such a burden.

FOOTS - that's terrible - may the Lord bless and keep you.

I think my neighbor will work out and that will be a big relief to me,  my foot has still not healed so my sister is taking me to see the doctor this morning.  For those of just tuning in to "Kaos with Kathleen" I am a diabetic with an open wound on my foot that persists.  To get the full picture, I shattered my shoulder requiring shoulder replacement, I have severe arthritis in the hip and knee on that side in addition to a pulled groin muscle which hurts like anything when I walk.  I have an open wound on my other foot and my supposedly good arm I have little feeling just numbness and tingling.  If that is not enough, 2 days ago broke the nail on my index finger way below the quick, it bled and now I hunt and peck here with one finger (middle one) because using the index hurts when I press on the keys,

SHARON - please know that I continue to appreciate your reaching out.

Kaos with Kathleen, LOL!  AT least you still have your sense on humor!  I'm so glad that your neighbor will be helping you out and your sister is taking you to the doctor. Perhaps your family will be more willing to help out if they see your neighbor helping you.  I'll keep you in my prayers.

Hello Foot, it's nice to 'see' you!

Very gentle HUGS, (((( kathleen )))).   I call myself the walking wounded, although some days I can hardly walk.   If it is not one thing, it is another.   I already has a bruise on my arm from who knows what, then yesterday I decided to repot a couple of plants.   Somehow I ripped open the skin on the arm with the bruise and of course there was blood and hurt.   Go in and wash it with lots of soap and water, put neosporin on, then I have no bandaids...   Can you picture kleenex and scotch tape?

This morning I was up earlier than usual and put coffee on.   Went to bathroom, came out and coffee was running down the counter, onto the cupboards, and onto the floor --- I had washed the "pot" and forgot to put it back...   At least at 7:15 am I have gotten the counter, cupboards, and floor all clean and spiffy.    AND I made more coffee and am sitting here wondering if this is gonna be ONE of THOSE days...

ATTENTION SISTERS:  I saw the doctor who said my foot is much worse.  I am being re-admitted to the hospital  (YES, AGAIN!).  He will need to run a MRI of my foot to determine if the infection has gotten into the bone.  If not, I will be on IV antibiotics and then rehab.  If it is in the bone it will mean surgery to scrape the infection out of the bone along with IV antibiotics and rehab.  If you will recall they would not put me in rehab for my shoulder.  Well, now they have no choice.  In order for the foot to heal, I must remain off of it - how could I do that when I had only myself to care for me - I had to prepare my own meals, shower, get pills 3-4 times each day, go up and down stairs, etc.

So, I won't be posting for a good long time.  I love you all and will get back in touch in 3-4 weeks.  I miss you already!

Ohhhh I'm guessing Kathleen is in the hospital this morning.

Kathleen, we're pulling for you girl. Hope you get the help you need and back on the road to recovery. Hopefully, someone can bring you a computer to the hospital, so you can at least let us know how you're doing.
