Jen - I saw that story about the 10 year old on the National news about a month ago.  I meant to post it. . . but chemooooooo (forgot).  My most painful scar is my port scar . . . and it looks terrible as well.  Not sure how difficult it is to cut along the same line when you remove the thing, but apparently it was not easy.  Also, I am with you on the HFs - a dozen a day is standard.  The onc indicated that means the tamox is working.  No red bumps while in the sun, but I do lather on the SPF.

Adrienne - I have garden envy!  I just planted mine a week ago and you are already pulling stuff out of yours.  Last frost here in MN was May 15th this year.  Keep the recipes coming, I enjoy the different thing you come up with!

Robin - I was an expander / implant swap.  It was same day surgery and I was sooooo happy to have the expander gone.  I am small (and small chested) and the radiation had tightened things up a bit.  The implant I now have feels surprising natural.  Every other week throughout chemo, they would add another 50cc to the expander.  I used a "fiberfill leisure form" that you could add as much material as needed to keep yourself even.  I just looked into the closet and I have brand new one in the bag.  If you want it let me know and I will send it to you.

Rock - Hoping you have a fantastic birthday!!

    BTW . . .

went for my 3 month visit with my onc.  She informed me that the results of my PET scan were negative.  I got to my car, smiled and then teared up.  Thank you all for your prayers, I continue to pray for you.

    Love you all!

Noelle - 20th high school reunion, basement floods, mohawk hair cuts, bath bombs over the border, ears clogged with wax...it all sounds like a blast!  How long will you be in Vermont? You could have some real fun and irrigate your ear with a 1/2 strength peroxide solution.  The sound would given you crazier than you feel right now.  I know traveling can be quite hectic but I hope the "break" provides some relief for you.

Rock - Thank you for getting yourself taken care of while away from home.  It's so easy to let things wait, to put them on the back burner or sweep it under the rug.  You are very important and highly valued.  You have so much more to accomplish and so much more to contribute. It must have been very helpful to have your friend, the doctor, explain things and provide you with advice along the way.

It made me sad to know the Mr. Dickwad had hurt you, to know that you went through those procedures so far from home, to have you crying for those that you love and to miss them so deeply  BUT I am very happy to know that you feel enough to have a crush again, to get flushed and feel the giddyness of anticipation; I am glad to know that you get angry and just don't wear the mask of resignation; and I am thrilled for all those that cause you to feel love and joy!

What did you do for your birthday??????????????????

Are you feeling better now, and how about your sisters and their surgeries?

    BTW - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love you all madly. You make me laugh and cry quite regularly and both are a very good release. Adrienne, YOU know why you got that e-mail and thanks again...okay, so we are on the warpath! We are (in the world of this Race for the Cure) second overall (including all corporations --i.e. Boeing...our little team of 26 people is beating Boeing in terms of fund raising). We are first in our "friends and family" category. Adam is second with more than $5,600 and he won't catch number one because number one is the husband of a new bride with breast cancer and Adam wants HIM to get the grand prize of two airline tickets anywhere so he can take his wife. I have a cool $1888 and our team has more than $16,000. We rock and we'll never do this again. My shingles are a total non-issue. Going away as soon as they came.

    KARIN --------------------- Happy birthday.

I LOVE hearing all the new boob talk as it makes me think.

I LOVE hearing Rock and Noelle and Cris and Robin and Angels and Grace and Jean and ALL of you. I listened to our CD with Dottie today on a little business road trip. She LOVES it as much as we do. Otter YOU ARE the BEST and the technocoolest...thanks for posting Amber's globalbra...

Tired. Goodnight. Randie...we are allowing you to float in peace and serenity as you rest and relax and heal. Hope you are finding your "happy place..." JUST KIDDDDDDDDING!!! But I do hope you are working through the panic when you can. I am thinking of you all the time.  I am rambling to you all with good intentions. Goodnight. Little League does me in. Thank goodness this season is nearly over. Ciao.

Robin - It's good to hear from you and I'm glad the link worked!  I get that tightness in the muscle also.  I do the way-back-twisting stretch too many times to count in a day.  I am not on any preventatives because I'm triple neg and there is nothing...yet.  The budget stuff has affected us somewhat, but we're still doing okay.  We're generally savers, so we have quite a bit of "nuts" stored up.

Julie - Happy Anniversary!  I hope you wanted an atlas...

Jen - Is that little girl different from the one who is on here?  I thought I saw a thread about her a couple of months ago.  Either way, it's terrible.

Onemoreweekofschool, onemoreweekofschool...don't get me wrong - I love school.  But it's time for a break.  I am actually taking 2 whole weeks off from the end of June to beginning of July.  I haven't had that much time of since I had surgery.  We are spending one full week down in San Diego with 2 days at Legoland and 2 at Seaworld.  It will be tiring and great fun!!

This weekend is Katie's birthday "event"!  We start Saturday at 4 PM when 4 girls arrive for the sleepover and end with a 2 hour party at the gymnastics facility on Sunday.  She's also getting an acoustic guitar with lessons from my friend's husband this summer.  She'll be psyched about that.  Okay, I've got board games and possibly Mad Libs and food.  This is not a girly-girl bunch so no make-overs or nail polish.

Better get some sleep - this might be the only night I can really rest!

Ahhhh, my girlfriends. Clucking and cooing and taking care of each other.I read this as I cook a meal for my most attentive and loving husband, with a sleeping dog on the couch and two sleeping cats well away from each other. Life is sw-e-e--e-e-et! (even though I have spent most of the day trying to deal with dog wee on the cowskin and kitten pee X 5 in the corner of the lounge. I can't even have a simple rib-stripping procedure in hospital..Drew is diligent, NOT. And guess who's sleeping OUT IN THE BLOODY COLD TONIGHT @! The incontinents!!!) (Gawd!! I hope I never have those...oops!...moments. Maybe I"LL be sleeping out in the cold.) I went for two walks today..the dog was stir-crazy. It's winter, smokey, foggy and so beautiful after all the rain. I can join y'all on the food from the backyard..silverbeet (swiss chard?) and parsley for the tabouleh. But I do oh-so-much wish it was spring here....sigh....Are my recon sisters enjoying their time out? I know I amLaughingno hammering, digging, pruning/reefing, vacuuming, changing the sheets on my own. Hey I'm liking this! Rock! Happy, happy happy happy happy happy birthday!! XXX

Good morning my lovely May sisters! It's a glorious 70 degree day here...finally! And I feel pretty good.

Robin, check the home page, great news on treatment for triple neg gals. Its been a long time coming. I had a unilateral diep. My wounds aren't really open, just not bandaged up like I'm used too. My picnic turned out just swell. I'm glad my turn is over tough, its so much work. I have three more peaceful weeks at home to recover. I go back on July 1.

Jean, so happy for your scan results. That's great news.

Julie, thanks for the card and Happy Anniversary. Sounds like your summer is pretty full of fun things to do.

Shout out to Rock....HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

Kerry, I can't believe you're out walking, good for you. I'm still pretty sore. Major back ache.

My sisters are coming over at lunch time to plant three rose bushes they bought for me. My mom had a lovely rose garden and I always wanted to plant some, just never got around to it.

Eddie - Every time I read able what Adam and you team is accomplishing I feel very proud!  Amber's "The Journey" was very touching.  Thank her for all of us.  And the global bra - love it!  I am glad my ta'ta's ...correct that to say ta-ta is not that big.  About your new AI, what symptoms were too much for you on Femera and which one are you now on.  After 6 weeks off, and not regretting the decision, I tried the Femara again.  6 days later I had the same symptoms and relalized I am not will to put up with feeling that way for anothe 4 1/2 years.

Will you run/walk in the Komen event in your area this weekend?  Sept. 13 is the race in Colorado Springs.  I definately don't run but have walked several other 5 k's.  I need to sign up for this!

    Karin - Happy Belated Birthday!!!!!!

Hope all is well for you.  How have things gone with Jeckel/Hyde?  And what have you learned about getting that full time para-pro postion in the Autism program?  Your last post was May 18th, my 20th wedding anniversay. Are you and DD riding a lot?  Bet she is enjoying her Honda rebel and you enjoying her company.  Does DH ride?

    Good morning ladies

It is a beautiful spring day here today.  I have all of my windows open for now.

Cris - what do you mean, did I WANT an atlas - isn't it the "official" gift for 26 years?  You know, silver for 25 years, gold for 50 years, atlas for 26, right?  It was a fine gift, especially since we are going to need it next week.  Both girls were gone last night.  We ordered in pizza, got Dairy Queen and watched the Dave Matthews Band specials on tv.  All is good.

Have fun with the birthday festivities.  It sounds like a fun weekend.  My girls both have November birthdays so we've never done anything outside (pool parties, pinatas, etc.).  Your vacation sounds like fun, too.  Let us know how Legoland is.  Wish it wasn't so far away.

Eddie - I'll just keep saying it - you and Adam are amazing!  And an inspiration for all.

Rock - Happy Early Birthday to you.  I know you will have an amazing day.  Sending you a cyber cake!

Talk to you later - Julie

Roxi and Kerry - so glad you are doing well.

    Good morning Ladies!

Hope that everyone is waking up to a beautiful Saturday!  It is sunny here!  (But a little cool--we call it "linen britches winter"--the last cool spell before summer)

Going to take the grandkids to a kids fishing day at the dam, well 4 of them anyway because oldest DD didn't come home last night, so her 2 won't be going, unless she gets them here in the next hour--I am not happy because she knew about this and actually planned it with her sister and they talked about it on Thurs.  But it will still be fun. And yes, this is the DD that likes to live on DH's computer-he has it password protected now!

Youngest DD isn't happy with oldest DD, just for the simple fact that they are all staying here and she thinks that it is too much on DH & I. She told me yesterday that she wished her sister would "get over it and grow up".  It is amazing, the difference in maturity, of my girls.  I also think that there is a little jealousy playing into it--youngest DD is used to having us to herself.  But she was the one here with me all through my treatments and is very protective of her Dad & me.  Doesn't like me being stressed out.

Robin-I am working days (instead of nights as they told me, but this makes me happy).  I work in a long term care facility and we have a 2 week schedule rotation.  One week we work 2 12 hr shifts, then the next 5 12 hr shifts, which ends up giving us 8 hr overtime each pay period.  There are 52 residents on my floor and I am the charge nurse.  Trying to get used to getting up at 4:30am again.  I am tired, but it is a good kind of tired.

Brought home more strawberries yesterday--this is the end of them for the year.  We have made a lot of strawberry jam, and eaten a lot of strawberry shortcake!  Plus, we gave youngest DD several gallons for her crew--them eat them too fast to get any in the freezer.  The 4 year old wants to eat strawberries with strawberry jam on them!  I have made a couple of pies and need to make another one for my mother in law.

Roxi, Kerry & Jean---Glad to know that you are doing well.  Rest and take it easy!

Karin-Hope that you had a great birthday.  (Yours is the same day as oldest DD)

Rock-Happy Birthday to you!  Have a super day!!!

Randie--I love you sista!!!!  And I love reading your posts--you are amazing!

Eddie--I enjoyed the article and the global bra!!!  And Adam is awesome!  What a wonderful young man!

We now have space invader #3, but I was so happy to see her!!!  Karli is here for the summer!   I just want to hold her and never let her go.

Better get dressed and ready for a day of fishing!!  Love you all--Big hugs all around!

Rock----Happy Birthday!  Can I just tell you that I feel so lucky to have you in my life?  Sorry Mr. Crush was a dud.  What are you doing for your birthday??

RanD--here's me with a basket of cool washcloths.  At your service, mum.  Hope the Xanax helps, it helped me.  As Otter says, better living through chemistry...you are always in my prayers..

..which leads me to Eyes, Dana, Tawanda.  Spots, FECK.  Want to meet me in Hillsboro for a cup of coffee and a piece of pie? (I'm SO not kidding, I am retired...)

Otter,  Eddie, your posts are such an encouragement.

Cris, I'm STILL d.a.t. and have been off work since April 1...I am almost all the way well from surgery, though, so I am expecting my daily increase in available energy to continue.  Have to start getting ready to move now, even though the house hasn't sold, so that we can be ready when it happens.I am excited.  We are looking at house plans and I have started an "I like this" notebook--when one of us sees something we like, we put a photo in the binder.  Gives us somewhere to start this whole housebuilding process.  So far we have a 10--foot porch around at least two and possibly three sides of the house, and bun and turned feet on the kitchen cabinets, and a screened porch, which has a doggy door.  And I am collecting old crystal doorknobs to use.  I literally cannot wait to start this process!

Karin, sorry I missed your birthday, I had to go to Tennessee my stepdad was in the hospital.  He is 73, has a lot of small things wrong but nothing big.  He is stubborn and doesn;t like to take medicine.  He has never had to consciously take care of his health before. I am trying very hard to both be supportive and not treat him like a child, to realize I CAN'T CONTROL THIS and just be there for him.

Roxi, Jeano and Kerry, hope you are healing well.  Take your time and rest and don't demand too much from your tired body.  I had to pay attention to any increasing pain--for me, that means I did too much.  Still having this occasionally almost eight weeks out from surgery.  Everybody is different.

Julie, here's a prayer of patience with the space invaders.

I love all of you and miss you when i am gone.  I always read your posts, almost every day, but feel the need to back away a bit from all but this thread..

    Love,

    Sue

I apologize for just another quick fly by. Things have been really hectic and when I do get on the computer I'm on FB to check on my co-worker that just started chemo. She prefers to connect there then by phone when kids are home. I just want to thank all for the birthday wishes. I had a great day.

Rock "Enjoy your Day" today. May you have the Happiest of birthdays.

Those recovering from surgery, may you have a speedy recovery.

    RanD hope all is well.

Sorry I'm not up on what's going on in your personal lives, haven't had time to read and catch up. Just know that my daily prayer for you is for God to give you each whatever it is you need to get you through your day.

    Love and hugs to all.

P.S. - Last day of school is the 17th. I should have plenty of free time after that to catch up with you all. They interviewed for teachers last week, mine will more then likely be this week. If my principal has a lot of pull in who gets the job I know I'm in. She likes me and once thanked me for being part of the school family and was so glad I was there. She let me leave early yesterday to take co-worker to her first chemo. I was going to use a personal day so I could take her. She told me she did not want me to use one of my days. She said something about doing a service for a school family member so I do not have to make up the missed time.

I appreciate all the birthday greetings. It was one for the books. I went to a Rasta community centre and spent my entire birthday surrounded by young men with long, long dreadlocks.  I -- and everyone else -- wound up being searched by the police (who had not one, but two guns) and spending a few hours at a police station.

Memorable.  It was actually a very interesting night, and I am glad I was there. (Details are on my blog: www.rockthebald.blogspot.com) Though I am WIPED OUT.

again, thanks for the love. it helps. it helps a lot. To be honest, my feelings are still kind of hurt from the unrequited crush.  It seemed like it was headed in the right direction (i.e., me having sex) right up until he whacked me with a shovel.

Sending happy anniversary and good luck with the relatives and you are a good friend/colleague and congrats on the fund-raising and you must be proud mommas and relieved breast owners and  . . . well, everything.

In the spirit of my "Today is a good day", I missed yesterday.  Yesterday...my 3rd grade son was awarded with the Compassion Award at an assembly at school.  Yesterday was a GOOD day!  A young man being awarded for his compassion?  I couldn't be more proud.  Someone finally saw it, beside me and his dad.  Of course, it has been digitally recorded for memories.

Today is Rock's birthday...it IS a good day, the celebration of the birth of someone so damn special..TODAY is a good day because of you.  I love you.  You are so freaking special.  I wish you knew how much.  You don't know it.  I wish you did.

    Rock,

I am happy you are in the world

Even though it had to be as a May 2008 girl

We all miss you being closer and in the same time

But we also know you are doing something fine

In May 2010 if the universe agrees

This amazing group of women will finally meet

On my big front porch with a view to the east

And we will wear jammies and have a few feasts

I can't wait to see my sisters who gave me such love

I know where it came from, it came from above.

I love you.  Happy Birthday.  I wish the poem was better. Luv, S

Go, Eddie and Adam, go!!!  (Okay, so you already went, but better late than never!!)

Karin - Good thoughts coming your way!

Sue - Nice poem and I agree!

Rock - Read the blog...interesting day...

Julie - Well, I guess the good part is your dh actually remembered your anniversary!

Well, we lived through the party.  My dh almost didn't make it past the sleepover part last night when he suddenly decided he needed a nap (yes, a nap!) at 6:30 PM!!  WTH?!?  Who does that??  (Apparently my dh!)  Aaaaaagggghhh!!!!  So I got him up once to watch Katie smash a cake on her face (more on that w/pics on FB) and then he goes BACK to nap!  Aaaaaaggggghhhh!!!!  "You're kidding me - WTF is the matter with you??!?"  (I did not say that out loud!)  But I got pissed and made him get up to take of Kelly (like he promised) so I could round up, wash off, herd, feed and fetch for the other five girls!  And he got pissed at me, but we got over it quickly because having six girls in the house doesn't give you any time for fighting.  Anyway, the girls didn't notice a thing and the rest of the sleepover and party today were fine.  Amazingly, we all managed to get some sleep besides.  Which is where I'm going now because tomorrow is Monday!

Adrienne - I decided today was a good day.  Laughing

Wow Jean, back to work? That's great for you. I'm still taking my daily naps and yesterday actually put clothes on. I've been living in robes since I came home. I see my PS tomorrow so hopefully he'll yank a few drains. Wednesday is my first herceptin without the port.

Call me crazy but my neighbor is doing a huge garage sale this Thurs-Sat and I decided to pull a bunch of my stuff out too. Luckily my daughters are helping out. I just gotta sit there.

On a side note, my youngest turns 16 on Saturday and we're planning a pizza party bonfire for 25 of her closest friends (please let only half show!). It's the last week of school and many folks take off right away for vacation so its hard to say how many will actually come. I told her to try to get an idea so I know how many pizzas to order. The boys will leave at 11:00 and the girls will spend the night, spawled all over my house.

Watched your son Eddie, what a kid!

I just got an email that one of my BC friends from my support group was diagnosed with brain mets. She's starting radiation to the tumor. I'm so sick about it. Please add May to your prayer list...

Today is a good day (except for the news about Roxi's friend, May). We are headed downriver toward (somewhere ... ), oh, ... Shiloh National Military Park. It's a 3-day trip by boat.  So far, so good.  I can't believe we're out here in the middle of the Tennessee River and I'm typing this on my computer with a decent wireless internet connection.  (We'll see if that's really true when I press the "Submit" button.)

Gotta go look at some scenery.  Talk to y'all later.  Wish you were here--we could be having a great time!

Monday- its almost over---- after being spun out of a big corporation as a separate business, them telling us they werent selling us- they sold us! Now 18 months after being acquired and dealing with integration for the last 18 months, today we found out we are being merged- noone has any answers at this point- the senior leadership is having to interview for their jobs and if they get to keep them, they have to relocate to Indiana. Most of us worker bees dont expect to relocate- just wondering if we will still have jobs when all is said and done!

Shopped at the mall a while getting dd ready for her Italy trip on Thursday- dinner at On The Border- so at least after work it was a good day!

Kristy, I've been through an acquisition and merger as well. My department was very fortunate to keep our head count. We had an independent consulting firm monitor our activities for 6 months and report back to corporate. Hang in there!  Italy, how cool is that!

Wow Gracie, you got me beat.

Off to my first post-surgical check-up. Hope he yanks a drain or two.
