    I check in here because I love to look at all the wonderful hugagans that are made here, I did offer to crochet some blocks but my wrists don't hold up to the repeat motions of crocheting the big yarn, I mainly crochet with the filet hooks and threads.

    I agree that quilting is easy. I don't normally do anything larger than baby blankets and wall hangings though with my hand quilting. The quilt guild I am a part of makes baby quilts and crib sheets for the local crisis pregnancy center.  I did take a class the other week at my guild on a quick-n-easy machine work quilt that can be done all sizes. I finished a youth size/lap quilt in a little over a day. Quilts are more expensive to make than the crocheted individual blocks.

    amazingly beautiful ... i love seeing all the different square patterns !!! some i think are from our new members cuz i don't recognize the designs ! thanks for this project ...

    purple let me know when you run out of squares ..... i know you are busy planning Pinkstock 2009 and don't want to distract you from that !!!!! Laughing

    I mailed an afghan (to the mother of one of my bosses who was diagnosed with breast cancer)

    I received this thank you:

    When the package arrived yesterday, my curiosity peaked? Upon opening it, my mood changed from excitement to contemplative gratitude.

    Since joining the sister-hood, I have heard from and met many wonderful people.  I hope to meet you soon.

    i love the bear. he is sooooo adorable. great job to whoever made that square, and another beautiful hugaghan madison.

    Ellie,

    Cy's mother, Jane, made the square and afghan.   Cy was a wonderful, loving person.   All who knew her were touched by her kindness.   We lost her last year to this beast.  

    Cy's mother continues to send us squares.

    I mailed and afghan to Fllorik's (Lori's Mother (battling colon cancer)

    I received this thank you note:

    " Dear Sisters,

    When I stop crying (for joy) I want to thank all of you for such a wonderful gift.  You really made me feel so special, and at this point I really needed it.  I am so happy that Lori suggested me.  Now that I am aware of the joy that the Hugaghans give-I would like to join you all....

     I hope this is a long, long friendship in the making.   Thanks for helping me remember that the world is made of truly wonderful and great people,

    Love you all, Mad"

    Madeline (Mad)  has since made squares and sent them to me.    They are incorporated in the afghan with the bear.   The note with the squares said:

    "I hope this will help give other people the joy and happiness your quilt gave me.  Words cannot tell you of the thrill I had as being a recipient of such a kind thoughtful gift.  You all make this world a much better place to live.  Happy Trails.   Good Health........Sincerely Madeline"

    All of you indeed make this world a much better place to live.   Thank you so much.

    Wow... this is such an amazing project. The last couple of recipients...SO happy to hear from you! Our hearts are with you!

    I am crocheting tomorrow afternoon with my 82 year old friend, Nancy... She has contributed many squares to date... it's so relaxing and rewarding sitting together and crocheting. Her home is filled with memories of her dh and children. I am like a sponge when I'm with her... her wisdom and knowledge and compassion consumes me. I hope I can be just like her someday.

    I was shocked to read my mom's letter to you. She told me she wrote a thank you note but I didn't realize how touched she is by receiving the blanket.

    By the Way- Did she make the little bear too?

    Daniel's toy snagged my afghan today and I about burst into tears.  I was stunned at how protective of our sisterhood symbol I was!

    Hello ladies...I asked permission to give a hugaghan to my neighbor Charlie who has been dx'd with a brain disorder similar to Parkinson for which there is no cure.  He is failing very quickly and his wife is trying to hold it all together.  Charlie was forced into early retirement as he is no longer able to walk safely and is losing his ability to speak...he is scared and sad. 

    I want to thank those that said it was ok to share with someone without breast cancer.  Charlie and his wife did so much for me while I was going through treatments and still help me out to this day.

    I'm glad to see so many afghans going out. I have a box of squares nearly ready. They need to be bordered (I knit but don't crochet.) Who should I mail them to?  Want to get these out before postage goes up. Stay well, sisters.

    Hi,

    I was the lucky recipient of  one of your wonderful Afghans last year. I just wanted to say how much I love it. It's one of the nicest gestures I've ever received. It fills me with love and appreciation and keeps me warm - especially thinking of the love that went into the  making of it. I imagine my BC sisters holding me and I in turn feel connected and in touch with you all.

    There are some special ladies on stage 4 forum who I would like to put forward to share this wonderful treasure, but I am not sure who's received and who hasn't.

    Is there a way of finding out ?
