Hi checkum......
That square is single crochet and then my cousin crossstiches the ribbons on it. Wish I could help. She kind of made up the design. Maybe Madison can give you some help. Glad to see you here.
-
Neesie..... you can send them to MB to border. You can also send them to me.

Beautiful afghan Liz........
Checkum, I'm trying to make up a breast cancer ribbon pattern. Unfortunately, I crochet. There are numerous websites that offer free patterns. I hope you can goggle and find a good pattern.

Hi everyone,
I've been thinking and I've chosen not to use anyone's squares for my Relay For Life afghan this year. This project was started and continues to be in support of our sisters who are having or going through rough times. I feel that if I use your squares for my project, it is taking away from this cause.
I did use squares from some last year for my Relay afghan, however, I had every intent of purchasing it which I did.
Please don't be upset or offended. It is nothing personal again any of you. I just realized that I was taking away squares that can be used for the cause this project was intended.
Thank you all so very much for your continued support on this. We are making a difference in each persons life who receives a box of hugs.
Hugs, Liz

MB, I finally got off my lazy butt, and went to the post office !!!! I was half way home from the post office----for some reason I decided to check my reciept, and it's a good thing I did----I had your address on the box, but the lady had the box going to Limestone NY !!!! I had to go back to the post office, and she fixed it.
I hope my squares are ok----I'm not very good at crocheting, but I enjoy doing it !
-
MB, did you ever get my squares? If so, were they OK? Since it was my first set I am a little concerned they were not up to par. Please let me know. I am getting ready to send out another set and want to make sure I'm doing them correctly. Thanks.

Hi Girls! Hope you're all doing well.
Me and my elderly friend finally crocheted together - for the first time - last week. Her squares are FABULOUS... The sides are envious! This is so funny...I had a bone scan scheduled last week...went to the hospital, got injected with the radioactive dye for my bone scan. Had to leave, let the dye circulate and go back in 3 hours. So - I went to her house...she made me lunch and then we crocheted together! lol It was a perfect way to kill 3 hours. Went back to the hospital, and had my bone scan. (Everything's fine... just a bit of arthur-itis - lol!)
I will border her squares...and I have some of mine bordered and ready to go to who ever needs 'em! Just let me know.
-
Laura.... how cool! It is so nice to see others joining us. If no one speaks up, I'll always take squares. Great on the arthru-itis. I've met him also.

Dear Sisters,
It is with the deepest gratitude that I write this message. I have been having such a difficult time these last couple of weeks. I have been struggling with so much discouragement and bad news lately, I have been too depressed to even share what I have been going through.
This morning I received a package on my front porch. I didn't recognize the name on the return address, and was wondering who in the world sent me a package. With great anticipation I opened the box, and inside found the most beautiful, colorful, wonderful afghan I have ever seen. As I read the enclosed letter, tears streamed down my face. You couldn't have planned the timing of this gift better. I had found the package on my doorstep as I was on my way out the door to another brain MRI. I needed those hugs so much right then!!!! I am amazed by those thousands of stitches sewn together with so much love and caring for a stranger. I am so touched that you all would take the time to crochet and knit those beautiful squares. As those squares are stitched together, it forms a bond of such strength and caring. To know that these were made by sisters who themselves are battling cancer, is simply overwhelming. That you would have the kind hearts to look outside yourself, and give to another is heartwarming. My mom was with me when I opened the package, and we were in such awe. I told my mom, "People are so good!" If the world would focus on these stories, instead of all the bad, the world would be a happier place.
Thank you for brightening my life with your love. I will treasure this gift forever.
Love, Amber

Amber,
I'm one of your old buddies from radiation thread. If anyone deserves these hugs, it's you. Please stay strong and continue to be an inspiration for all of us!!!
Lots of hugs, Jackie
-
Amber I love your quilt, beautiful...just like you. I spent a portion of my morning going through these posts... My sister, Margee, passed in November after battling a different type of cancer, aggressive destructive. I offered back then to shave my head along with her if she would...she didn't take me up on it... I got busy crocheting after she passed and have donated afghans to the hospice ward at the hospital she stayed at until we were able to bring her home. (anonymously) I just place in a note in memory of Margee and hope that it brings warmth and comfort to know someone cares. Sooooooooooooo...KUDOS TO ALL YOU WOMEN WHO CONTRIBUTE TO THIS CAUSE!!!
-
amber,
a beautiful hugaghan for a beautiful lady. you are in my thoughts and prayers.
