Deb - Glad you can wrap yourself in our love. Rest up and feel better soon. Let Daniel and DH know our love and hugs extend to them as well.
-
Oh Deb, you look wonderful. You are always in my prayers.
Hugs, Liz

Okay, so I am curious......each of you do individual squares and someone pieces them all together?
Simply amazing. I have slept and napped with my beautiful hugahan since I received it. I have shown it to every person to enter our house! I can never thank you enough!
-
Deb - that is correct. It's a true team effort and labor of love! Glad it's bringing you some joy during this difficult time!
-
Deb - it is so much fun crocheting the squares! Especially knowing the recipients. Some girls knit, some crochet. When each of us has made a "pile" o' squares, we send them to the Border Commanders...Madison, Liz, Vickie... they compile our squares and when they have 42 they crochet them all together with black yarn. Whenever we see a girl on line who needs a little extra lovin' - we send the girl's name to the Border Commanders. We try to be sneaky and get an address too! lol Once we do, the Border Commanders send out the Hug-aphan. Quite an elaborate/high scaled/behind the scenes operation...! lol Like a bunch of little Keebler elves! lol
Liz - Madison - if I have left anything out... please add!
-

Jankay-I remember you well, and read your most recent posts. My heart aches for you, and I can't believe everything that has happened in your life. Please try to keep us posted when you are able, and I will certainly be praying for your peace and comfort. (I hope I didn't hijack the thread, ladies......)
-
PS-I love the entire operation, and how sneaky you are. It is just awesome. I wish I could knit/crochet!
-
Deb, The smile on your face is the reason I keep crocheting ! It's such a good feeling, to see the end result.I hope you enjoy your hugahan, for many, many years.
-
Laura...... you did good. Don't forget our Border Commander purpleMB! LOL
Deb.... I was thrilled that I got to put your Hughaghan together. I hated to have to send you one, but knowing you made it special to me. I always feel I know many of the ladies they go to. We usually don't know who is getting a finished Hughaghan until Madison and I talk to see whom is on the list.
If anyone has names, remember to please send us mailing information. I did get the mailing information for the 10 year old girl who was recently diagnosed. Something tells me she'll be getting a hugaghan soon.
Thanks girls..... we couldn't do it without you!

Okay, I have previously mentioned that I have no ability to crochet, but is there another way I could help this blessed project? It is wonderful, and I am like Linus. I carry my blanky around with me everywhere. May I donate for supplies? Send shipping materials? Or just put a lot of hugs into a box and send one to one of the BorderCommanders.
You are all so special. I love you ladies.
-
Deb - Some ladies donate yarn. I'm sure Madison and Liz can jump in with suggestions. BTW - I was looking at your afghan closely and I see a few of my squares there. I am thrilled as they were my very first batch of squares and Steven helped picked out the yarn. I'm referring to the blue, green, and yellow one (second row, second square on the right). Also, yellow silky one(bottom) and green one (top row, second, on left). Anyways, glad to know that these squares are now surrounding you with love. Hope you are feeling better.
-
I am so excited to know who made which squares! Ody, I love them! Tell Steven thank you for picking such wonderful colors!
Please let me know what I can do....get a gift card for JoAnne's, or whatever!
-
whoopsie - top right and pink striped one below it look like they might be mine ...
and Michael's gets 40% off coupons and some yarn shops will put out a donation bucket for left over yarns - those 1/4 or 1/2 skeins that everyone ends up with .....
-
Deb, I am so happy you are wrapping up in the afghan......we love making them. And yes, we love surprising people with this gift.
I just had a panic moment at Wal-Mart.....they are redoing the store and moved the yarn. Now, I am a yarn-alcoholic and buy yarn every time I go to the store. Needless to say, I panicked. My DH said I had this crazed look in my eyes. Finally, someone told me they moved the yarn to the lawn and garden center (yep, right with the flowers, etc.) I was able to buy some black Red Heart yarn for the afghan I will finish this weekend. I'm okay now.
I mailed this afghan Thursday.
Thank you everyone.............
I will finish a special another afghan this weekend........
Hugs to all,
Madison

-
I love what you all are doing! Wish I knew how to knit or crochet (I am black sheep of the family) I do, however quilt. Anyone know of something similar using quilt squares?
Elaine
-
Elaine - I don't quilt, but check with your local quilt shop... I have read that they are always recruiting quilters for bc related quilts. Also... do you know of http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/ ? You may want to contact them and see if they have anything that you can become involved in. Best wishes... I am sure there's someone out there who would truly appreciate your involvement. Let us know!
-
Elaine,
There was an individual on the boards that made quilts. Someone may know her screen names.
