Karen - I'm sooo sorry. I know you were really hoping that that test would help to identify what the problem is - so that you could start getting Olivia's health turned around. I feel so bad for you guys - sending huge hugs and lots more prayers out for you and Olivia - this has gone on for far too long.

So sorry that it wasn't today.
Yes. Insist on seeing whoever you've determined to be the best possible. Insist on immediate attention. Cry or shout or nag or whatever it takes.
Praying for answers.

Karen, I just popped into bc.org. I didn't know that Olivia was still so sick. I am so sorry. I know how scared you are for Olivia. Seeing your child this sick is awful. I wish there was something I could do for you. I will try to do some research. However, you know how dumb I am.
And, Olivia, you and you mom will be in my prayers. A doctor will be found soon that will give you the correct diagnoses. I know because God is hearing all these prayers. Sometimes God doesn't answer them as quickly as WE want. But with God there is no "time." So, hang in there and try to stay strong.Hugs

stopped in hoping for something new but prayers continue to be prayed

Okay, we went BACK to pediatrician today, and HE said that her two gastric scans BOTH showed she has REFLUX!!!!!! Why on earth the GI doc NEVER said anything about it is totally beyond me.
So, pedi has prescribed Reglan and Nexium strong dosed for 2 weeks to see if this "fixes" her. He feels really good that it will and so do I.
As a precaution though, he got us set up to go to Wake Forrest University Medical Center because he knew it would take a while to get an appointment. We have one there on May 12th. BUT I am so hoping I get to call and cancel it!!!!
Pedi has said all along he felt like it would end up being a common condition with uncommon symptoms. She has chronic nausea w/occasional heart burn rather than chronic heartburn w/occasional nausea......
So, fingers are crossed........but mama feeling really good right now!!

-
Good news! Hopefully the meds will do the trick and sweet Olivia can return to her old self in no time. If not then you have an excellent back up plan in place.
-
Well what in heaven's name was the use of the gastric scans if they were not going to INTERPRET them? DUHHHHHH!!!! Thank the Lord the pediatrician was on board here!
But she really had so few symptoms of GERD. Didn't she have an upper GI? That is typically where they find this...
But I am praying that this is all it is and that her nausea nightmares will be over! Hallulujah!!! Praying that this is the answer!!!
-
Oh Karen........this must (finally) be the light at the end of the tunnel. All the best. Can't wait to hear updates now! Gentle hugs to you all.
-
Oh I so hope this is it! Our prayers will continue!!!
-
I've been praying with you without posting, but with this diagnosis I just want to warn you that the reglan can make them anxious/irritable so just keep an eye on that. My oldest D had reflux (the kind where chunks of food actually come back up several times a day) all her life. It wasn't diagnosed until 7th grade because she thought it was normal (we teased her about thinking that humans were like cows) and the meds made a big difference. But the reglan did make her moodier than usual, and once we realized that it was the meds, not her, it made it easier to live with! She's now 20 and off the reglan, but still on prilosec regularly.
-
So glad an answer has been found at last!! I agree with Jo-5 here. One more opinion at this point would be a good thing. Especially if one verifies the other!!
Praying that this nightmare is FINALLY over, and Olivia can go back to being normal again!!

I've been watching this thread and praying for Olivia and Karen.
Karen, I wanted to tell you something about reglan so you won't be surprised. I believe it basically speeds up the digestive process. So don't be surprised if Olivia has diarrhea. By speeding up the digestion, the thought is that the reglan will keep you from being nauseous by not letting food 'sit' in the stomach very long.
My prayers for Olivia that she begins to feel relief and can go back to being a young girl with all the wonderful activities that comes with that, for Karen to have super MOM strength, and for the doctors to be guided to find the cause and best treatment for Olivia.
Much love and lots of hugs,
Bethie
-
Karen. Thank you for the good news regarding Olivia. Prayers do work.
Please let me share with you that one of my boys went through a similar ordeal. Not as severe as sweet Olivia but to him it was so stressful. He didn't want to go to school his stomach was such a mess. I had him checked and rechecked. After tests, medications, doctor visits up the wazoo, more meds, we decided to do home schooling. He was all for it and low and behold after two months he said his stomach was much better and he wanted to return to his school.
So off he went and was fine from that day on.
I wish Olivia's condition could be as simple as that.
KAREN* You have a message waiting. XOXO.

Yippeeee praying this is finally the answer. Doing a happy dance. Reflux can sure make you feel that way. Still praying.. God bless hugs for you all....
-
Dh and I both have reflux and never had nausea.. I did not know they go together.
Our son has it too.. no nausea though.
I sure hope that is it. Reflux is easy to treat... Nexium for life....:).. that would be a miracle if that is all it was!!! LETS PRAY!
