Shokk-  thanks for enlightening me about CNBC.  I missed the Santelli rant but later caught Jim Cramer who seemed pretty peeved  about Santelli or maybe it was just being upstaged for a change...........

He was blathering about no one listening to him about Mobil---now I know it was because of Santelli-LOL

    Newsbusters had a recap

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"However, Cramer got one-upped today by CNBC's Rick Santelli, calling for something like a "Chicago Tea Party" revolt against the redistributionism that is plaguing our federal government. Cramer, in his "Stop Trading" segment on CNBC's "Street Signs" on Feb. 19, remarked it was odd no one was talking about Exxon-Mobil (NYSE:XOM) downgrade, overshadowed by Santelli's revelation."

"I'm sorry not be screaming about class warfare and how you should have your house ripped out from underneath you, but I actually get excited about stocks," Cramer said."

"Street Signs" fill-in host Melissa Lee asked Cramer if he was a "buyer" of Rick Santelli's philosophy, now deemed as "Rick's Revolution" by CNBC and MSNBC.

"No, I'm not," Cramer said. "But I never challenge our own talent on-air. And I never will. There's no need to talk over our own talent and I like our own talent. We're very good ... I don't agree with him, but I don't want to be vitriolic about it because he's one of our team and he does a good job."

Cramer and Santelli have had some differences, however. Back in August 2007, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) was hovering in the mid-13,000s, Cramer was criticized by Barron's for being overly bullish on stocks. Five months later, after the Fed made an emergency rate cut as economic conditions began to deteriorate, Santelli was the one to criticize Cramer for being a stock market cheerleader. Cramer had taken a shot at then-Wall Street Journal reporter Greg Ip. Santelli told Cramer he was too hard on Ip and suggested Cramer shouldn't be one to criticize. Cramer response to Santelli: "You ought to watch my show."

I'd just like to clarify an earlier post I wrote.

I sympathize with those persons who have worked all of there lives and then thru NO FALT of their own become disabled and unable to take care of them selves. I have NO PROBLEM with giving these persons public assistance.

I have NO PROBLEM helping those people who have lost their job thru NO FALT of their own.

I have NO PROBLEM helping those people who have mental and physical disabilities. And am very PROUD AND IMPRESSED that those people take it upon them selves to be productive to the best of their abilities. It doesn't matter to me if they work at Walmart or the neighborhood grocery store.Maybe they don't make enough to support them selves but they are TRYING!

WHAT I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH is people who take advantage of the WELFARE SYSTEM! And believe me when I say there are a huge number of people that do that.

IN MY OPINION anyone who can work should work! I don't care if you work at McDonalds. They need to get up off their butts and go to work. Don't expect me to pay for them to sit at home and make babies that they can't feed! I don't want to pay someone else's electric bill or daycare while they find ways to beat the system!

When I show up at 5:30 pm after I've struggled to make it through the day at work post Chemo and Rads and there is some woman standing outside  the daycare chatting with her friends in her pajama bottoms and I hear them talking about how they really are gonna have to start looking for a job soon or loose their benefits and oh my god just couldn't deal with having the kids at home all day and how they should get together and go have a pizza and beer and have time cause the kids can stay at daycare until 6:30 AND THEN I go inside to pay my $225.00 weekly daycare and this same woman is talking to the ADMIN. about how she can't pay her $6.00 a week bill that is 1 month past due....... ENOUGH SAID!!!!!!!!!

BKC...I worked for a LIHTC non profit community...where 90% of the residents were on housing. I have seen it all and heard it all and no one will EVER be able to convince me any different about the "poor blah blah blah"...lying scheming and know how to play the system and until SOMEONE gets the system in check this crap is never going to stop, the waste is unbelievable. And these fine folks are generational takers and proud of it...it is disgusting. And no matter what you do to bring in programs or try to help it is a waste of time and energy, all it will do is wipe you out. THEY DO NOT GIVE A RATS A**, they play you just like they play the system. And what is really disgusting is when they drive up in their Lexus and you drive a Toyota...everyone on the staff black, White and Hispanic thought the same thing about this trash.

I am not sure how BOs mortgage fix is going to help things. First if you bought a home you could afford but it has now gone down in value - you will be able to restructure the mortgage at its "new" value (as long as you have a job and can pay for it). What I don't get is if you have an adjustable rate mortgage you will get a lower interest rate for at least 5 years - isn't this just pushing things off for 5 years? If people were smart they would pay more each month than they have to so that the principal becomes less - but I bet they will just spend the extra money and be in the same boat 5 years from now. Why not give them lower interest fixed rate mortgages? There will still be a lot of foreclosures.

I am soooo tired of people playing the system and the government claiming that they don't have the resources to go after these people. It makes it hard on the people who really need these services and those who do work left footing the bill.

What is all the fuss over the Republican governors who are not all gimmee gimmee over the stimulus money. They want to make sure that before they take any money there are not a half a million strings attached. Some of this money will go into creating new programs. You know - once you create a program it is hard to take it back. They want to make sure they won't be left footing the bill when the fed money runs out or have to provide matching funds that they don't have. The biggest things is - these governors would actually like to read the fricking bill - all 1,000 pages plus before they sign on. I can't believe that Congressman that called them racists.

Finally, someone is telling BO to talk positively about the economy (President Clinton). Yeah, it really makes me want to go out and shop when the President uses the word "crisis" over 20 times in one speech.

Now the transportation secretary wants to tax us by the mile?? Will they remove the federal tax on gasoline - that is probably too much to hope for! I for one would drive even less.

I'm just angry, angry ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The shennanigans in Washington and here on the boards just rattle my cage. Incidentally, aside for there being more $$$ assigned, the mortgage bailout plan is nothing new. We went through several different channels and got screwed.

Then I see that the "OctoMom" hasn't paid her mortgage for several months and is $23k in the hole. WTF? Why hasn't HER bank kicked her to the curb? We got a letter from an attorney after 2 months even though were were working with the bank's loss mitigation department. The attorney told us that they'd be finished foreclosing on us before the loss mitigation department ever gave us an answer. BSBSBSBS

KDG, I think you are right.  Rumor has it another board has been set up and only a chosen few have been invited.

Best wishes to everyone and I hope you survive the chaos that is yet to come.

    Audios!

It's too bad that these political threads will be shut down.....well at least on the right side of the board..........it has been informative and a nice distraction from our lives in the cancer world........I have had a couple of good friends banned this week for good..........I have had one very good friend banned a while back.........it's just too bad........none of us are perfect..........I know tha Tami and Melissa are doing what they believe is right.......it can't be easy trying to moderate this kind of support board...........not only are we women we have cancer on top of it..........makes most of us plum ass crazy (whatever that means)........I know that some are mad at bc.org........I am not one of them........for me this site has been a life saver........it's certainly not perfect but if it were it would not be as good as it is IMO...........I will see everyone around the farm..........Shokk

It is regrettable that people got banned. If the mods had done this earlier (made this thread only visible if it was in your favorites) the banning may have been avoided. They tried hiding it by having it show up only in the Active topics and that did not work - people from the other side with too much time on their hands could still come and read and delete posts. If the mods were going to get rid of the thread they would have done so by now. They really need to work on getting the report this post button removed. They should at least be able to review the post first and then punish the people who reported a post that was not offensive. It is too easy to get someone banned by reporting posts just because you do not like the person.

Badboob - yeah, it does not look like the mortgage help is going to do much for those who really need it. The OctoMom story gets stranger every day!

Obama Backs BUSH On Bagram Detainees

"The hope we all had in President Obama to lead us on a different path has not turned out as we'd hoped," said Tina Monshipour Foster, a human rights attorney representing a detainee at the Bagram Airfield. "We all expected better."

The quietness of the boards here has me a bit alarmed. If most of you are leaving or intending to, I would like to know where you are going. I feel like this has become quite a support group in these tumultuous times. If there is another place where you are all posting, I would like a PM so I can show up there, too. I would miss the humor and the political info, not to mention the BC support. I know a couple of days ago other sites were mentioned, do some of you post in these other places?

You ladies and man have become my cyber friends.

KDG Obama claimed that he would not renew Bush's tax cuts that will be expiring in 2010............of course he is now have to renege on some of his promises he made to his voters and if the economy continues to spiral downward he may just have to renege on that promise as well..........the man has absolutely no idea what he is doing..........Shokk

Here is an interesting facto............in New York City where the population is 8,000,000 the top 40,000 wage earners pay 50% of the taxes for the whole city................when Obama suggested today on his tax the people radio speech that he plans on increasing taxes on the top wage earners Mayor Bloomberg (of all people) said he simply cannot do it in New York City.......he is afraid that he may lose many of those wage earners that are basically supporting NYC as it is now..........they will leave and move to where they will pay much less in taxes.........well duh............it's not rocket science.........Shokk

shokk - Bloomberg is right! At least he's got a brain/enough intelligence to foresee the ramifications of idiotic decisions. BO has no military bckg...and no business sense.

CNN this morning... BO - in an effort to help the deficit - is going to raise taxes for those earning over $250,000 a year! OMG WTH - here he goes again... punish those who are successful. That is so unfair. $250,000 may seem like a ton of money to a welfare recipient, but in reality, it's not considered super rich.

BO - wake up... instead of punishing the responsible and successful workers, CLEAN UP WELFARE - CLEAN UP WELFARE FRAUD... get them off their lazy butts and put them to work for a change. Welfare recipients who are able to work and generational welfare recipients get a free ride and those who have educated themselves and worked very hard to create a successful career are funding their unproductive life styles. They continue to suck up the resources of this country. Start at the bottom of the barrel, BO. Stop expecting the successful citizens to BAIL OUT THE LOSERS. STOP stealing from them. Isn't theft illegal. Oh, that's right... it's okay to steal tax dollars from the successful, but it's NOT okay to stop the fraudulent losers from stealing tax dollars from hard working tax payers. Stop coddling the losers. The cycle continues. If BO really wants to go down in history as a "good" pres... he should put an end to this cycle. HELP ME!

GTO what does Obama not understand........those top wage earners will not pay more in taxes.......they will simply cut down on their spending............most of those higher taxed incomers are employers.........so that simply means that someone or someones on their payroll will be getting a pink slip.....you would think that Democrats would remember when Bill Clinton decided to start raising the taxes on Yacht Manufacturers and buyers..........thinking he would raise the taxes on the wealthy.........the people and corporations that could afford to by a yacht simply went out of this country to purchase their boats and it was the blue collar yacht builders that lost their jobs......Obama is such an idiot.........I am not sure who he has advising him but he really needs to get someone on his staff that understands basic economics and stop this insane class warfare.........Shokk

Shokk - Good point. Every action has a reaction... Those in power need to tread very carefully.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to add... Just FYI - I base almost all of my opinions on statistics... they are indisputable. I cannot think of a more responsible or intelligent way to form an opinion. I prefer to have a positive attitude regarding my opinions. But more often than not... the stats prevent that. The truth is sometimes hard to admit/accept... but change and improvement will never happen if we don't face problems honestly and openly, based on the stats. The positive results of change and improvement create a positive, healthy, fair and productive environment. That's how businesses are run and that's how businesses become successful. If businesses ignore their company stats (good or bad) and do not react in a timely manner, they fail.
