Did anyone hear about Oregon wanting to tax beer well over 1000%?  I think it's per barrel.  They want to use it for Alcholism and I can't remember what else.  Crazy!  I don't drink beer, but that's beside the point.

I think it's time for another Tea Party.  This taxing crap is getting out of hand.

I just got home and turned on Glenn Beck. He is talking about the guy who started the "bridges" TV station, which was supposed to help people understand Islam, and they guy beheaded his wife! This extremism is a cancer that is creeping into our country and I am not sure there is going to be a cure. People can say what they will about Bush going to Iraq, but for me it was always about getting a foothold in the Islamic world for the sake of women. Women in Iraq are now being allowed to go to school again. When they grow up and teach their children not to hate, it will begin to change culture of violence against women. Just has Lincoln freed people from slavery here, Bush freed women from slavery there. Just as it too generations for the racial barriers to break down, it will take generations for the gender barriers to break down in the middle east. Some day, the world will realize that Bush did the right thing.

Remember the honor killing by the muslim dad here in the U.S... he stabbed his 16 year old daughter to death with a butcher knife while the mom held her down. The daughter disobeyed them. Can't remember exactly what she did... but do remember is was quite petty. It just so happened that the FBI had put listening devices in the house - because the dad was suspected of  being a terrorist. The whole murder was on tape! It was so horrific! The dad and mom were calling her names and screaming at her while stabbing her - you could hear  her screams too. OMG - How sick! After quite a while...there was silence. Both butchers were locked up...I think for life... dad may have gotten the death penalty... not sure... can't remember.

    Here's the story:

Muslim TV executive charged with beheading wife

Muslim-American couple ran television network aimed at fighting stereotypes

    By Carolyn Thompson

    Associated Press

    February 18, 2009

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - A man has been charged with decapitating his estranged wife in the offices of the television network the couple founded with the hope of countering Muslim stereotypes.

Muzzammil "Mo" Hassan is accused of beheading his wife last week, days after she filed for divorce. Authorities have not discussed an alleged motive, but the slaying gave rise to speculation that it was the sort of "honor killing" more common in countries that include the couple's native Pakistan.

The funeral of Aasiya Hassan, 37, was Tuesday. Her 44-year-old husband is scheduled to appear for a felony hearing on Wednesday.

The Hassans lived in Orchard Park-a well-off Buffalo suburb that had not seen a homicide since 1986-and started Bridges TV there in 2004 with the message of developing understanding between North America and the Middle East and South Asia.

Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said his officers had responded to domestic incidents involving the couple, most recently Feb. 6, the day Muzzammil Hassan was served with divorce papers and an order of protection.

"I've never heard him raise his voice," said Paul Moskal, who became friendly with the couple while he was chief counsel for the FBI in Buffalo. Moskal would answer questions in forums aired on Bridges TV that were intended to improve understanding between Muslim-Americans and law enforcement.

On Feb. 12, Hassan went to a police station and told officers his wife was dead at the TV studio.

"I don't know if [the method of death] does mean anything," said the chief, who would not discuss what weapon may have been used.

Shirley, Sharpton wasn't complaining about an article, he was complaining about a political cartoon that showed two cops shooting a chimp. (referring to the chimp in Conn. that was shot & killed by police after it attacked a friend of the owner)  The caption has one of the cops saying "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill".

Wasn't that bill written by congressional democrats?  Wouldn't it be something of a breach of the balance of the 3 branches of government if Obama authored the bill?  I thought that the President could suggest ideas and things that he wants to see included to make it easier to get his signature, but actual bills are written by members of congress and their staffs.

I think that the people jumping to the conclusion that it is about Obama, and therefore crying FOUL are saying more about their own attitudes than about the motives of the cartoonist.

It is in really poor taste, especially since the woman the chimp mauled is still fighting for her life, but not racist.

Actually, Shirley posted a picture of that very thing (when they compared Pres Bush to a chimp) and it has been removed by the community.

The media will be the next bailout so that the government will have a stake in the financial, housing, health and then finally control the media so they can tell them what news to run and what the government line is going to be.  Welcome to communism.

Yes, a media bailout.  No wonder Obama doesn't want a return of the Fairness Doctrine.  With all the media soon to be controlled by the government via bailouts, why ever would they need it.  Life as we knew it is gone now.  Kiss freedom goodbye.

another thing i've noticed and i hope this doesn't get removed because it's an observation, nothing more, nothing less.  why is it that the mods never reply to a post on the mod. thread.  they just totally ignore.  perhaps they do respond to pm's...i don't know, i never did that but i did ask a direct question once and never got an answer and i've noticed some other questions that never were answered, not publicly at least. they do seem to be reading some of the threads/posts.  i'm just trying to figure out if some of the actions are selective or standard.  quite often it seems very selective.

I still haven't figured out exactly who is going to benefit from the housing deal.  What is the definition of 'responsible homeowners' in regards to this bill?  They still need to clarify this. It seems pretty ambiguous right now.

In their definition - it could be anyone. To me it would be the people who through no fault of their own bought houses that they could afford but are now worth less than they paid for them or people who have lost their jobs and are now unable to pay their mortgages.

Always - read today that quite a few media people are getting jobs in the administration - guess that is their bailout.

Is it a bailout or a 'pay off'' for slanting the press in Obama's favor during the campaign.  A payoff for 'slandering' Sarah Palin and her family?  Things to ponder.

Daisy .. It's PMI insurance.  Yes, it's still in effect.  Unless you put down 20% on your home or your mortgage to loan value drops to 80%, you have to pay PMI.  You raise a good question .. wonder where my PMI money is going.

The plan for homeowners may actually benefit me.  I'm a responsible homeowner, never missed a payment on the four homes I've owned .. but my mortgage is wayyyyyy more than 38% of what I make.  I'm self-employed.  I bought my last few homes with a stated income loan.  If I were to run into arrears on my mortgage, there is no way I could sell my home or get a new loan to buy another.  No more stated income loans.  My property taxes just went up and the value of my home on the market just went down .. go figure.

Starla .. who in the liberal media said Obama was a "one termer?"  I watch Beck, CNN and MSNBC and I hadn't seen that.

BinVA - can you contest your property taxes? I have heard that you can do that - especially if your home value has decreased. Most communities do not do assessments very often and they are probably using an old property value to calculate your taxes. It is worth a try. I would also look into the home mortgage thing - you would probably qualify - not exactly sure what they plan to do - heard something about lower interest rates  and making the payments affordable.
