The Respectfully Republican Conversation

Sheri, BO sent Emanuel to meet with Reid and Pelosi a couple of nights...nights...nights ago to have a meeting. They worked things out. And then, as you said, RAPIDLY got out the BULL. Lindsey Graham is outraged that they do not have time to read this huge "compromise" but have to vote. WHY DON'T THE REPUBLICANS REFUSE TO VOTE UNTIL THEY CAN READ THE BULL! There's a dimwit speaking on C-span saying why are republicans opposed to rebuilding school..yada yada..cuz it belongs in appropriation. And he's saying, OBAMA DID NOT CREATE THIS MESS..HE INHERITED. BUSH AND CHENEY DID IT!
No, ACORN, Obama's pet project, is partly responsible along with the dems who pused through bad loans.
When is Rangel getting his?
-
Kay Baily Hutchinson says she look over the bill and there is much different than was there before...like Reid's 8 billion $$$ track from LA to Las Vegas (his state)! Crooks.
-
Sherri, is it time for a new roof on your house? Maybe you can call it 'weatherization' and get the government to pay for a new roof. There ya go!
-
I'm going to use it to pay for my kids daycare that just went up $25.00 from $199.00 to $224.00 per week!
-
If anyone is working or not by a tv you can watch cspan live at www.cspan.org and click on the window to the right under the search box that says "watch live"........this is unreal......NO ONE HAS HAD A CHANCE TO READ THIS BILL..............Shokk
-
Weatherization...I wonder if we can get back the $2000 we just spent on insulation in the attic and under the house.
-
Shirley are are a Republican and even worse you are a conservative so you get nothing and in fact you have to pay for someone elses weatherzation...........(my house is avaiable)..........
You know that OBAMA HAS NOT READ THIS PROPOSED STIMULUS BILL!!!!!!!!! Shokk

schokk, you have got to go to Springfield IL and visit the Lincoln Library. They did a fantastic job. You can also visit his home which is just renovated. I wish I could post pics, I would put it on here. I think the women you are talking about is Lucie Rutherford or something like that. She died young and some say he never got over it. He lost his mother at a young age, and historians say all the losses in his life are what made him such a melancholic man. Mary Todd was the upper class women who tried to help him overcome his pain, and encouraged him to seek higher office. She was so maligned in the press after his death. She was so depressed after losing her husband and her two sons and Robert sadly had her committed. The asylum they sent her to is near me.It is so sad.
As for Lincoln's racism. He was a man of his time. It was not until he began to work in Illinois that he began to take issue with slavery. Illinois was one of those states very divided on the issue so it was hotly debated in his time. He ran for president on the premise of preserving the union. He finally changed his mind about slavery when he realized how it was such a threat to the union and saw how bravely black soldiers were fighting for their freedom. It took a long time for people to finally accept his "all men are created equal" premise and vote a black man as president. I just wish our black president was a man I could respect because he loves America more that Africa. I have yet to see him prove it. I wish we had a black president who deserves the title, not one who bought the presidency and is now beholding to the crooks that got him in.
-
Vivre I would love to visit his library........but you are exactly right......he was a man of HIS time......minorities and women were not considered equals to white man.............I do remember thinking at the time of doing this paper that he was just a man......now granted he was very intelligent and he had those "soft skills" that he could talk just about anyone into anything..........but Mary was not the love of his life............but at that time most marriages were "arranged" by families and had more to do with land mergings and business arrangements.........making families stronger financially.........most marriages really didn't have much to do about love..........Shokk

Howdy Ladies and Gent, no Republican support for the bogus plan in the House. To think that only 3 turncoats hold the keys to having a so-so plan hit the streets, or one where true stimulus could have taken place with a totally new plan where both sides of the aisle could have input with the real focus being on job creation. If anyone heard where the 3 million jobs are going to be in this plan, let us know.
When I heard our Prez talk about how Cat would begin to re-hire because of the stimulus, fully knowing they took out quite a few billion in infrastructure repair, I thought HuH? Then the real truth comes out. Well not exactly. What's the point of lying?
This proves Obama can't rein in Reid and Pelosi. They're walking all over him doing whatever they want. They really could have created a great bill, now we have just a pet project boondoggle. As expected.
-
To the Ladies of California,
Think how great it is, Reid has found a way to spend 8 billion dollars for a way to take cash that could circulate in California, create jobs, produce tax revenue and high speed rail transport it to slot machines in Vegas. The Amtrak has worked so well, only costing billions of dollars in subsidies because people won't pay the higher cost to ride a train than to fly. The LA to Vegas line will be a burden on every person in the country so a handful of Gamblers and bunny ranch customers can have a night out.
-
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..........
-
Herbie -- we need the train like we need more holes in our head.
I wish California had legalized gambling like Nevada. We have our Indian casinos but they keep their profit. Granted they employ 1,000's of Californians and they do donate fire trucks and such. And they do pay fees to CA for being here but it's nothing like the revenue we could have if we had big Casinos like Vegas!!
Sending our elderly out there in a train to spend their money is foolish .. I guess they will have a bar car and private cars to host parties in on the way Lost Wages.
-
How do we know it will cost $8 Bil for Harry's train? Yesterday I read it would be the lion's share of the $66 Bil that is earmarked for infrastructure repair. What exactly is a lion's share is unknown by me, but if a bridge falls down while your on it, think of Harry, who took money away from needed repairs, for play.
And how do I know they left only $66 Bil for infrastructure repair? I don't. It was something a newspaper was guessing at. No one read this bill.
-
It was 61
-
61 voting for. Gregg didn't vote the last time, so that will up the No votes. We need Specter and Collins to come alive. Specter won't because he got his $10 Bil for NIH in it. I think, he got it, but who knows what happened when it went to the House for repairs.
Not much money for small businesses either who does do most of the hiring. This is a total mess.

Seems like it's ok for SNL to make fun of Palin because she is a woman with but Gov Paterson didn't like it when they started poking fun at him.
Gov. Paterson: SNL is Enabling Prejudice Against the Disabled
February 13, 2009 9:08 AMAfter a town hall meeting in Morrisville, NY, Thursday, Empire State Gov. David Paterson unloaded on how Saturday Night Live has been mocking his blindness.
Asked by a reporter if he has any thoughts on how he's being portrayed on SNL, the governor said, "yes, but I can't repeat them."
SNL cast member Fred Armisen has portrayed Paterson as a bumbling fool, holding a chart upside down, for instance. New York Times columnist Clyde Haberman recently wrote: "Comedy writers with frat-boy sensibilities seem to feel they have a license to go for cheap laughs about blindness, as if Mr. Paterson were Mr. Magoo come to life...The level of humor might fairly be described as sophomoric were that not an insult to sophomores."
They seem to be mocking your disability, the reporter said to Paterson, who had just held a town hall meeting with students at SUNY Morrisville.
"They SEEM to be mocking my disability?" Paterson asked incredulously. "I would say that decidedly they ARE mocking my disability. And that apparently who is blind or deaf or has an ambulatory disability or any kind of physical affect that gets to a leadership position in this country is going to be portrayed as if a bunch of third graders are still ridiculing them, on Saturday Night Live."
The governor said, not quite convincingly, that "it doesn't really bother me."
But, he continued, "there's a 37 percent unemployment rate in the disabled community -- 71 percent among the blind, 90 percent among the deaf -- and yet these individuals performed by average higher in American institutions of education than their colleagues who are non-disabled. Meaning that we can educate these people but we couldn't find work for them."
Paterson said "one of the biggest problems finding work for the disabled are attitudes. And these programs which present themselves as comic relief in many ways are degrading people."
He said one protestor outside a town hall meeting on Wednesday held a sign that read "The Blind Leading the Blind."
"Now, I understand that whoever had that sign was protesting one of our (budget) cuts," Paterson said. "But I wonder if anybody would have had the temerity to walk outside in a group putting up a sign 'The Blind Leading the Blind' when a blind governor's coming in, had not their been such seemingly approval of this kind of degrading of people with disabilities."
Paterson said, "I'll bet you that SNL would think twice if they did the same kind of routine and made fun of someone's race, religion or national origin right now.
So really, they're picking on those they think are least able to fight back."Finally, he said, "I think they need to bring back Sarah Palin because they've obviously run out of material."
You can watch the governor's comments at NYCentral.com.

Sherri............I LOVE Tom Coburn.........Republican Senator from Oklahoma.............WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO..........Shokk
-
I seriously CANNOT believe this guy (Paterson) can be so STUPID as to make that last comment.
-
The Senate only has 57 AYE's so far. Something is wrong the entire place is cleared out. Are they arguing in the hall?
-
Oh dear! Pelosi is going to be late getting to Rome.
-
Sonething is happening on the senate vote...Bayh(D) of IN , Brown of OH (D) and Gilldabrand D of NY (the more conservative new Sen that took Hillary place have not voted yet on spending plan. Voting has been froze for about 30 mins...Martinez (R) of Fl has not voted either ....
-
Gotta watch "Trillion With a T: How to Spend Ten Trillion Dollars" With Brett Baer on Fox this weekend at 10PM. I think I got that right. Should be interesting.
Yes, I watch FOX and C-span to get the best update and honest news on this Stimulus Bull. Afterall, C-span let's the dummies do their own talking.
This is a very sad day.
-
How long are they allowed to keep this vote waiting? No rules here? No time limit?
-
Coburn (sp) threatened to not vote until he had time to read the Bull. I guess he decided not to wait.
Since our dear PBHO promised 48 hours for them to read this bill (and us) why isn't that happening? Oh, I know why. Cuz the longer you you read and hear about the Bull (Sh#t) the worse it stinks. And he's a liar. He has proven this over and over. All we have to remember is the Catepillar Manufacturing Co...TOO FUNNY! He should be embarrassed. And his little press guy tries to explain the LIE.
Pelosi said this was a great accomplishment for Nobama. No, Botox Ugly Face, it's your and Reid's greatest accomplishment. You just gave the BIRD to the American people. How many petitions did they receive IN SUPPORT of this bill?
Aren't they wasting a lot of electricity waiting for the last couple of votes? Heck, just close it down and say WE WON! That's their motto isn't it?
-
I don't understand how you can expect somebody to read thru a bunch of legalese in this short amount of time. It would seem a true FAIRNESS doctrine would allow sufficient time to read the whole thing.
Am I missing something? Really, am I? Or did they see a draft and only need to see the revisions?
-
I don't think in a situation like this, that MAJORITY wins .. it should have to be something the public supports. We know our representatives often do what they want or play quid pro quo with their votes ... 60-40 doesn't seem like a fair number when we are talking a TRILLION dollars!
-
No, Rocky, they did not read it. It came off the "press" around midnight. And, this huge document had a bunch of changes to it. Scribbled all over the place. Marking through things, adding new or deleting, reducing. No draft..no nothing!
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We need to play close attention to our government.
I just heard Brown should be back by 10:30 tonight to vote. Why couldn't he vote absentee ballot. Surely they would count it. No like the dims who don't like to count absentee balances.
-
The only problem is when I marry him will I have to move to Oklahoma?..............Shokk
-
Start practicing now.....
Ooooooooooooklaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain.....
