If it is either of these Annie.. they have tests now for both.. I am like you.. know clients who have those two diseases and the tests are not too complicated today. If it is any of those or even crones... they will have her results soon.. Karen , I am sure, is putting on the heat !

    Psalm 34: 17-18

"The righteous cry, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

    Olivia and Karen

Of course my first thoughts upon waking this morning was on you and I pray that today will bring some answers.

Father God, We know that you are our all powerful God and the God of the universe.  We know that you have control over this illness and Father God we need answers today.  This family has suffered enough.  We thank you for Karen and her family and their devotion and faith to you.  Father God we pray that today is the day that the doctors will make their DX and treatment will begin so that Olivia can regain her strength.  In Sweet Jesus' name I pray  AMEN AMEN

God does things on his time and not ours but we are these unworthy humans that are very impatient especially when it comes to our children and their well being.  It is OK that we make demands on God at this time.  He loves all of us and He understand because we are all His children.....

I know nothing we say can make you feel better but just want you to know that you are loved and our thoughts and prayers are with you constantly.

    ((((((((((hugs)))))))))

    Linda

Please dear God be with the Moody family today.  Bless them with your comfort.  Send your very best to care for precious Olivia.  May today be the day that she turns around and begins to gain strength.  Dear God, please provide answers and hold Karen up.  In your Almighty Name Amen.

    HANNA,

Karen just called me and asked if you could possibility do the same research that you did before but for Gastroenterology.  Anything that pertains to cronic nausea that might be uncommon.

    Hello sisters

Karen wanted me to tell you that she is sorry that it has been a while since she has given us any news but the computer is the last thing on her mind right now.  The counselors are with Olivia right now preparing her for the endoscope procedure to insert the feeding tube.  Olivia is not taking this very well......Now they are looking into a gastro problem and Karen is wanting info from Hanna (if she can get it) like she did for the endocrinology.....

Common causes of nausea and vomiting include the following:

    1. Medicines. Certain medicines such as chemotherapy for cancer and anesthetic agents are particularly known for causing nausea and vomiting.
    2. Infections of the gastrointestinal tract. These may be viral or bacterial. Other infectious conditions like gall bladder infection (cholecystitis), appendicitis, viral hepatitis, and diverticulitis can also cause nausea and vomiting.
    3. Infections outside the gastrointestinal tract, for instance, pneumonia, bladder and kidney infections, meningitis, and ear infections.
    4. Bacterial toxins in food (food poisoning)
    5. Pregnancy
    6. Motion sickness
    7. Too much alcohol
    8. Inflammation of the abdominal organs (for instance, pancreatitis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis)
    9. Intestinal blockage. This can occur due to stomach or intestinal ulcers, cancers and tumors, or inflammatory diseases like Crohn's disease.
    10. Slow intestinal movement or transit, for example gastroparesis (delayed emptying of stomach), ileus or pseudoobstruction. Slow transit can be due to many causes.
    11. Migraine headaches
    12. Other brain and nervous system disorders, including tumors of the brain, seizures, and multiple sclerosis.
    13. Hormonal disorders, including diabetes, overactive thyroid (hyperthyroid), underactive adrenal glands (Addison's disease)
    14. Kidney failure
    15. Radiation therapy
    16. Psychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression, anorexia nervosa, bulimia
    17. Cyclic vomiting syndrome

Test ordered to evaluate nausea and vomiting may include:

    • Blood tests (blood count, measurement of chemical levels in the blood, liver enzymes, pancreatic enzymes)
    • X rays of the gastrointestinal tract, abdomen, or brain. These can include plain x rays, barium x rays, or specialized scans such as CT scans or MRI scans
    • Endoscopy, which is the use of a long flexible tube with a video camera that allows direct visualization of the swallowing tube, stomach and first part of the small intestine. This test is performed to look for abnormalities in the lining of the upper gut that might be causing the nausea and vomiting
    • Tests to assess the movement of food through the stomach and intestines (gastrointestinal motility testing)
    • --------------------------------------------------------
    • Another article:
    • Unexplained chronic nausea and other dyspepsia symptoms affect about 25 percent of the general population. The cause may be neuromuscular disorders of the stomach.

Karen, we are here for you~~~housework be damned!! Speaking of "House", I feel like we are watching an episode. I wish we had the old crank working on this one!!

I am back from PT and getting ready for oncologist...and far more concerned about Olivia.

Everyone, stay in touch and keep up the prayer vigil.

I would recommend a call to the local ER in Moody's home town to see if there has been some uptick in gastro problems in local area.  Next a call to the CDC there in Atlanta to see if they have any notices.  It is possible Olivia is having a much worst reaction to some form of virus, parasite, or bacteria that may be going on.  I hope they have ruled out the peanut butter issue

    WonderSpouse, good idea.

Neighbor across street's son has been sick for a week, perhaps with "parasite"~~~she e-mailed that they may hospitalize him here in DC area.

My housekeeper has called in sick today; nursing home where she works has closed to visitors.

I just heard that this peanut butter problem is getting even bigger.  I wonder if Olivia's school has been contacted to see if any other children are sick.

Karen and all- my prayers are with you as the docs try to figure out what is going on and that they are able to help and support Olivia while this is all going on, to keep her strong and able to do whatever it is that she will need to do.

Yea, though I walk thru the valley of the shadow of dark,

    I will fear no evil,

    for thou art with me....

I pray they find out what is causing this. This is too long to be so sick. Poor baby.
