It is interesting also that studies show the estrogen supplement slows the growth of tumors in patients with metastic receptor positive tumors.
-
Summer, nice to see you back!
My semi-famous BIL is here en route from Jersey Shore to Key West for a month; his wife will be in Aspen skiiing. {sigh} He & DH have already had Bubbaburgers; I just baked them a frozen pizza, and chili is simmering on stove to eat during the last game. I hope the teams appreciate the efforts being put forth here, not to mention the unneeded calories.
I overheard the words "mean and hostile".....turns out they were talking about their other brother's wife, not us OR "them". {{another sigh}}
-
where is vivre anyway? she's not banned is she?
poor moody, i'm afraid you're in for a 4 year headache...if not 8. oh my...yuck!
-
C'mon Moody-girl ... just a shot of tequila will cure that headache ... too much dancing on the bar, I saw you last night ... now who is stalking who?
-
No I am not banned yet, although I am sure they will be working on it. I took a long walk along the river today. We are finally having a heat wave. It was 12. I love that fresh air. Rock, I hope you get so sun burned that you look like Nancy Reagans ball gown.
I also went to hear my favorite talk show host Michael Medved speak at the bookstore. He is promoting his new best seller, "The 10 Biggest Lies about America". If you do not get to hear him by you, listen to his show online. He is a former liberal like me until he saw the truth. He worked on Bobby Kennedy's campaign and was there when he was shot. He was saying how Bobby would not know his party today. He talked about meeting with Bush last week in the Oval office and running into Prune face Pelosi. He seems to feel there is going to be some fireworks between the Prune and Bama. I even got to ask him a question! I asked him to do a show on preventative health. He said he tried to do a show on the evils of soda pop and got hate mail.LOL I have not had any soda since my dx. It is poison. He did say he will try to talk more about health issues. The guy is so brilliant. He is jewish, and gave an incredible history of Israel last week. Callers would come in and try to blame Israel with some anti Israeli propaganda, and Michael would give the statistics and facts to refute it. I think he has an amazing memory. He can spout numbers to prove anything.
Schokk, you narrow minded, racist koolaid drinker. Be careful, someone might think you are being serious for a change!LOL
Daff, you are such a good sport. I wonder how many dems would have a party for their GOP friends.
Summer, that is interesting what you said about estrogens. It does not surprise me because I keep reading more and more about how treatments for bc have it all wrong by blocking estrogen. As I said, they are finally starting to take it all seriously. I bet that within 5 years, SERM's will not even be prescribed.
-
Wow, what a game! The superbowl can't compete with this one today. Ok, Susie, it's only one team, you have another to go.
Sherri, I want to double my bet if the steelers get in tonight.
-
I thought the steelers had the day off. Isn't Congress out planning for their big party? And I thought the Eagles had retired. Are they doing another comeback tour? I love their music!
-
It is tempting to go through the "positive" thread and copy the, um, non-positive remarks that have been made about "repugs", "trolls", and anyone who does not agree wholeheartedly with every opinion held by the members there. I am sure most of us here respect some of the differences, agree with some of the opinions, and support the some of the agendas~~~~without hate or bias.
Copying and posting would serve no good purpose, but the rancor and hostility, intelligently written though it may be, is not disguised. There appears to be no "reaching across the aisle", nor hoped for. Annihilation of the two-party system seems to be the goal. I am hoping that unhappiness will subside as things "change", but that will be a slow process. After all, we are dealing with politicians here!
This election is indeed a singular event, but is a part of the evolution of our country~~~the Declaration of Independence, the Revolution, the Constitution, the Civil War are truly historic. I hope along with most Americans that this administration is successful in solving our current problems in a way that acknowledges our strengths and undermines our weaknesses~~~without damaging what makes America great.
I believe that all of us can play a part in that; mine will be continuing to raise awareness, as well as fund$, for cancer research and testing for women in need. I will also march in the streets for stem cell therapy and the right to choose~~~~if they don't start too early in the day.
Chili's on~~~come by and have a bowl! I can't see the difference between Republicans, Democrats, Independents, or Socialists, so everyone's welcome.
-
Well they don't understand the term "to reach across the aisle" ... One of them says, "reach across the isle" ... big difference between an aisle and an isle .. there's mensa for ya!
-
I'm glad to see the thread getting back to politics and humor...Everytime Vivre starts talking about health food, I have to run to the kitchen to wash my mouth out with chocolate.
-
Yeah, My BIL and DH have been in front of TV since noon!! See post above. I am editing guest list for my fundraiser. Excel must have been invented by someone evil.
WonderSpouse, there's a box of Godiva here, for after the chili.
-
Daff, why after the chili, top a 12oz bowl of chili with grated cheese, onions, jalapenos and Godiva. What Cam and I are having for the game is Chili and Chicago Dogs(the only way to eat a hot dog)
-
My first "job" was serving chili dogs. My father was Prez of a Kentucky fertilizer plant/tobacco warehouse. During tobacco season, the salesmen would come into town from all the big companies. Mrs. Brown had a lunch counter in the warehouse, so at age 10 or 12, I got to be a "waitress'!!
Oh, the PIES she baked!
-
Even in a football game, I have have to see this crap on PEBO at half time, I guess they will create a new cabinet position of Sec of Staged Pageantry.
In discussions the other day, it was pointed out that Obama advisers, in 04 before he was sworn in as a Senator were planing for him to run in 2012. When the support for the war decreased after the campaign of Dean, they decided to move up his timetable. They felt that since he was not there to vote on the war resolution, he could run as anti-war. Also they felt if he stayed in the Senate for 4 more years, he would have a voting record. He would not be able to vote present and have an ambiguous record such as in IL. By being in full campaign mode, he would have a reason to avoid controversial votes and debates in Senate with a built in excuse.
It also irritates the hell out of me to see him an Biden place wreath at tomb for Unknown. As President he would have the right and the obligation to honor those who gave their lives. But as a President Elect on the start of Party time in coronation week, has turned the event in to a photo op. It is not only honoring the soldiers, it is an honor to do it. Not part of a Public Relation event
-
mr. spouse, i felt the same way. that is an honor that only presidents and vice presidents have had. what made him think he had the right to do that. he's not president yet or have i missed something. what about all that talk about only one president at a time. it's going to be a long 4 years or God forbid 8 years. yuck....where my nausea pills?????
-
Can you imagine if Bush had laid a wreath before his inauguration? Clinton would have never allowed it. Heck, They could not get Clinton to leave. The press coverage on Inauguration day was all about Clinton and the 12 hour goodbye tour. You watch, there will be about 15 seconds of Bush riding off into the sunset.
IBC. I hope you do not put catsup on that Chicago dog. There is no catsup allowed on a real Chicago hot dog. Ever. Even if you eat them in Ark. And if I may ask, what are you doing eating a hot dog? They are very very bad for you, even without the catsup! I thought we talked about this.
However, chocolate is okay. If you get the dark stuff with over 75% cocoa it is actually good for you. Full of antioxidants.
Daff, did you ever put cinnamon in your chili? It really gives it a great flavor. I made some this wee with 3 kinds of beans instead of meat. Even my carnivores liked it and I could eat all I wanted because it is all good stuff.
-
The WHI (women's health initiative) website has a couple of interesting study results on estrogen therapy.
-
Vivre, Ketchup is not found in my house. A Chicago dog must be pure
A whole wheat deli style bun, polish sausage, a bed of mustard and sweet relish, chopped onions, a dissected hot pepper, a slice of tomato, and a liberal sprinkling of celery salt. There is no way that you say that can be bad for you, It would be like saying there is no Santa Clause
-
See, I forgot to add that being scared of Shirley all the time makes my head hurt, and hiding behind spouse makes my head hurt, sherri's love for football makes my head hurt (although I use to be a huge football fan) and daff's food makes my head hurt.
See, I actually have had a bad head ache all day and taken all kinds of good drugs, but it still hurts and it just makes me feel better to blame it on everyone here on this thread. I know I could just not read here, but then I wouldnt have anyone to blame it on. Beings Bush only has 2 days left, I am trying to get in the habit of blaming everything in life that sucks on others. I think I'm getting the hang of it, dont you?
-
Moody,
Having a pain in your head just proves you have a brain. A vacuum can't hurt. Just one of the prices you pay for not being blonde anymore..... Now am I banned. I need to be, It now takes an ATV to get across the living room. I need to be cleaning house.
-
Spouse, have I ever told you I love you? I thought my head ache was cause by me trying to think.......LOL. I am going to sleep, before I do, know that I will be lifting EVERYONE here up in prayer, especially Ms. Cam, giving praise for her NED's!!!!
-
Sarah Palin will be Glenn Beck's first guest Monday.
-
Great, the Superbowl is set, It will be the Giants playing the Colts. Manning v Manning watched by Mannings everywhere....
Oooops that the way it should have been, instead the Steelers and the Cardinals
-
Thank you Moody, all prayers are gratefully received.
-
I don't like scary intervals like that, no matter the team.
Vivre, I have made Cincinnati spaghetti with cinnamon~~~and my patented spaghetti sauce has cloves in it!
-
When you guys are watching the superbowl, don't forget it is my birthday.
I will be 25.
Again
-
My daughter and her friend were here all day ..... after her friend left, my dd said, "SS said that Obama is raising taxes and that's what Democrats do. Is that true Mommy?" I told her it was and then she said, "Well then we need a Republican to lower them cuz that's the only way to do it, right?"
I could have died!! OMG, these kids talk at school. My daughter and I have NOT discussed politics except for me to ask, "Why is it important that BO is going to be the next president?" Our discussion had to do with fairness for all and that he was the 1st black president. I don't want her to miss the importance of this and that she should be proud that her country is not racist, that we are brave enough to rise above it. I am not happy about all Dems stand for but I don't want to ignore this moment ......
I've decided, I know you won't agree, that we are taping it so I can watch it with her when we get home.
-
Rock, I agree with you, when my grandson was born, I gave him a Christmas Card from the Clinton Whitehouse I was sent for the year, 1999, and a commemorative coin of the same year. I was and am not a friend of Bill. I do believe that it is historic, whether he does good or bad, it is a turning point in our History. I hope my Grandchildren watch. I still remember the Nixon Kennedy debates, glad I saw them.
-
Sherri,
Oh for sure, I'm lucky. I won last years superbowl betting thing they do. You'll just have to save those bucks for me. Though the steelers do look a lot beefier then the cardinals do. It could be just those black shirts looking so ominous.
Just something of note, about those women in the coffee shop..is it me or are we seeing it's mostly women who seem to be in love with Obama? I was at a Thanksgiving party and this woman was telling her son who was playing with a phone, "let's call Obama". I said, excuse me, but where's the nearest window to jump out of? 4 years of swooning women? Impossible.
-
This is from my friend's blog ..... she voted for Obama and she voted No on Prop 8 ... very liberal person ..
I am going to be called UN-American for this, but I need to vent.
I don't get it, I really don't. This is a historical moment, I get that. I appreciate that, I sincerely do. But, the realities and truths around this entire political story and future are insanely frustrating at times.I take issue with the entire election for one. To me all I saw was a game. People saying what you want to hear. Anyone can be a great motivational speaker..we will see now if he can back up his messages. All I heard over and over was people constantly jabbing each other in their wounds to make themselves look good. When are we to trust what any one of them were saying?
Do I think Obama is deserving? Yes, I voted for him. I think he is an intelligent person who has a good heart and message to do good in the world. To I take issues? Yes. I think that when you choose to be a parent, your children always come first and what's best for them. I would have more respect for him he waited until his daughters were in High School to run. Their lives are over and it is not right to me. They didn't ask for this. They will no longer experience life as a child should...seeing them now makes me beyond sad.
As for the political aspects...I voted, barely. I was so frustrated with the whole process knowing that my vote didn't really count, that the electoral votes and what have you had the final say? What the heck is that?! What happen to the simplicity of casting a ballot and counting a ballot...that, to me, in no uncertain terms, is an election. Again, it is all a game.
Obama is black. Yes, it's historical and I have a deep appreciation for that. But if we are really a land of the free and a country that is 'unlike' any other or equal on all levels, than why do we look at color, race and sexuality. Why are not each of us regarded as just an American? We are sexual beings, what difference does it make what we prefer or who we marry? I know what the history is behind it and respect that, but at some point if we really want this equalization we need to change our words.
And finally, this crazy week. Why so big. We are building this man up as we have done before with other presidents to only than criticize him later when he doesn't 'do his job' the way we see fit. WE are responsible for what is to come in some ways. He has ALOT to accomplish...
Why so much hoopla? Why the need to spend the extraordinary amounts of money on the election, campaign and now a concert and party? He says he is a people's president, but this is not what the people can afford?! Tonight at one ball is A-listers only, who is to say who an A-lister is? ALL FAMOUS PEOPLE. Where are the people in that? Why the need for such an extravagant bash with money like there's no end. Today he met with tons of stars, why? They have a job like the rest of us. (And some will admit to that, too, not wanting the celebrity status that is put on them.) They chose a profession, but we build them up and make them more than just people. Where were average folks at these party's? Apparently they are not invited.
In the very old days, it was a train ride and then sworn in, not too much hoopla. I think we are better off for that. We can be excited, we can pray for all things good in him and his family...change is good and we need change right now. But, we just don't need to make it SO BIG. He has no place to go now, but down....and that is not good.
Good Luck Mr. President. I may not stand by all your views, but I think you are a good man, and will help our country become alive again.
