It's past Thanksgiving, but we had a great one!  We had turkey and ham and all the fixins.

I am THANKFUL I've been too busy and missed the first post on this thread.  Too bad a couple of people like it.

We should have started a "what are you thankful for" thread.  Ah, unless one's already started and I didn't see it cuz I've been too busy.  Anyway, I'm thankful to be alive and to have a wonderful family.

A belated Thanksgiving to everyone although each day should be a day to give thanks!  "Collywobbles?"

Doesn't matter anymore, 'cuz it's gone.

My dh and I had a terrific, relaxing Thanksgiving.  I fixed the simplest favorite things I could think of:  roast turkey breast, sweet potato casserole (a Southern delicacy that tastes like a dessert but hopefully counts as a veggie), wild rice with pecans (mixed metaphor for sure), (Stovetop) dressing, and biscuits.  Forgot to buy the cranberries.

It matters to those who believe the moderators are doing a terrible job moderating opinion as well as content.

Does anyone watch Ace of Cakes? They made a TURDUKEN cake for this kid's birthday.  It was hilarious, and came out sooo adorable. But the thought of eating birds stuffed in birds is really gross.  When I'm down south and there are Chick Filets (omg their biscuits) I can't even bring myself to order the chicken/egg biscuit that they serve.  Something about that just bothers me.

Mixing meats is just weird for me....

Yup ' Ace of Cakes ' is one of my favorite shows. I don't have to us the brain and it feels good to smile through the whole thing. The cakes are soo cool.

Uh, Amy, you've got to be kidding, right!?  What about the disrespectful Obama thread?  I've been kinda busy with company, but I just had to respond to this because I know you won't respond back and I like that!

Sherri, Amy thinks I'm an ignorant troll.  Can you believe that?  I'm an ignorant troll because she and I disagree on most everything.  I think that should be called "agree to disagree," but I guess that just doesn't work with close-minded people.  However, I did hear my dd's Presbyterian minister say, "don't be so open-minded that your brains fall out."  I guess some people don't want their brains to fall out OR what's left of it.  LOL  And, I'm not "allowed" to post over <----------- because I'm toxic so I'll post it here. Laughing.  And if I post something "disrespectful" according to them that's a no-no.  And then since Amy won't respond to me her buddies do it for her and she tells them to ignore the ignorant, toxic troll.  But I don't mind.  I got really, really thick skin!

    Hi ladies,

I didn't shop on black friday...I couldn't do that..too many crazy shoppers...lol. I did help the economy yesterday..does that count? lol

I am hoping to decorate a little bit each night this week after I get home from work.  Hopefully by the weekend I will be done.

Shirley, I just have to mention...I had no idea you were a troll. I have followed many of your conversations on the Republican thread...can't imagine where "SHE" gets that from! I do think she loves to create problems wherever she can.  Oh well...

I don't have a cookie recipe in front of me, but this is a good, yummy cake recipe and it's SO EASY to make!  I use a whole stick of butter for the frosting and throw come coconut in the cake batter.  AND there's a picture to go along with it!

    http://paddlinpigsbbq.wordpress.com/2007/02/26/paula-deen-hummingbird-cake/

    Paula Deen's Hummingbird Cake

    3 Cups self-rising flour

    2 Cups granulated sugar

    3/4 Cup vegetable oil

    1/2 cup chopped pecans

2 very ripe large bananas - mashed

    1 can (8oz) crushed pineapple

    1 tsp vanilla extract

    1 tsp ground cinnamon

    4 large eggs, beaten

    ICING RECIPE

    1 pound box confectioners' sugar

8oz package cream cheese- room temp

    6 tbs butter, softened

    1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbs milk, more if needed

    1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

    Preheat oven to 325*

Grease and flour three 8 inch round cake pans.  In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, oil, 1/2 cup pecans, bananas, pineapple, vanilla, cinnamon and beaten eggs.  Stir well until smooth.

Pour batter into the 3 pans and bake for 26-28 min, or until tops spring back.  Let cool in pans for 10 min.  Then cool on racks completely.

Make the icing by mixing the sugar, cream cheese, butter, vanilla and 1 tbs milk in a large bowl with an electric mixer.  Mix until smooth.  If needed add more milk, 1 tsp at a time for proper spreading consistency.  Ice between each layer and on the top and sides.  Sprinkle the top with pecans.  Keep refrigerated.

I am going to have to take that recipe and make that cake... it looks SO good!!  Maybe that is what we'll have for dessert at Christmas...   instead of PIE!

I'm travelling to PA to see my 4 sisters and my brother tomorrow.  I'll be staying over the weekend and coming back on Sunday, so I will be off the boards.

I can't wait til next week (Friday) to see you, Shirley!  You are such a nice person!!  Troll... I think NOT!

I'm telling ya...the cake is so easy to make.  Don't even need to get out the mixer.  Well, except for the icing.  I got to thinking (yes, thinking)...I don't know why I put a whole stick of butter in the icing.  It's got cream cheese, dummy (talking to myself).

Harley, hope to have my hair cut and highlighted before I see you.  It won't take any weight off me though.

Roctobermom, how'd you guess I was only four feet tall with big feet!?  No pointed head though.  I'm sure about that..got to see it bald!

Janet, sure.  Have a piece of cake!

Miss Shapen, like Roctobermom said....dangerous...and I said lethal.  Remember to have just a tiny piece.  Join Janet in having a piece.

My3girls, I've got three girls too but their all grown up.  Troll?  Depends on what troll means..like what the meaning of is is. LOL  No, I'm now a drama queen.  Far from it.  I'm rather boring and I would think drama queens had something going all the time..LOL
