The Not so respectful political debate
We have the positive Obama people and the anti-Obama positive Palin people on different threads. Its time to stop this niceness and start telling it like it is - face to face.
I'll start:
The Republicans in a short eight years have brought this country from a point of prosperity and peace, almost to its knees. People are now predicting the passing of the late, great, United States. Nobody, but Nobody can truly believe that Bush did a good job while in Office. This man singlehandedly destroyed almost everything good about our country, from democracy, to liberty to the Bill of Rights to the rule of law. His assaults on science, intellectualism and common sense are unparalleled in the history of our country. He ranks and will rank in history as one of the worst if not the worst Presidents of all time. Even now he is a do nothing and Obama is having to fill the void from the outside until inauguration. For those who support him, or still support that Buffoon Sara Palin, your opinions are indefensible, which is probably why you need your own thread to pat each other on the back and tell you how right you are. Nobody else will. The thought of Sarah Palin in some sort of leadership role for this country is too terrible to even think about.

Thunderhawk, you just joined the boards today and this is your first post. The tone of your post and the title of your thread sounds like all you want is an ugly, smash-down, drag-out fight, which doesn't seem appropriate for a breast cancer support board to me.
-
thunderhawk,
that is quite the first post.
why on earth would we want to stop the niceness at breastcancer.org?
i am a full blown obama supporter but see absolutely no reason to end the warm sisterhood i share with others that don't agree with me politically.
happy thanksgiving to all my sisters, republican or democrat, regardless of your political beliefs i will be toasting you come thanksgiving day.

Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for these good women!!
Thanks for our support network!
And, thanks for pumpkin pie!!

Thunderhawk,
I believe every word you wrote. I wish you a long, healthy life. Have a happy Thanksgiving. I am sorry to say that you probably won't hear from the "other side" on this topic. We Obama supporters have never been able to give republican side a good enough reason for supporting Obama--at least to their satisfaction-- so we all sort of feel like Laura does--viva la difference!
I just hope this country survives 57 more days of Bush. We are quickly succumbing to his complete incompetency. He will surely go down in history as the absolute worst president we ever had--it will be hard for someone to beat him in attaining this prize! Unfortunately there are still 28% of Americans in this great nation who voted for him and still think he will be known some day as our best president! I believe if that happens there will no longer be a USA so I believe at some point, every one of those 28% must wake up and smell the coffee. Wasn't there some saying, "god forgive them, for they know not what they do." I think it might have been Jesus before he was crucified. No matter who said it, it is true. Even Baldwin (one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century) said something similar.
Thanks for shaking things up! I'll be watching what you're watching--Maddow and the gang!

Oh rats, for a minute I thought that terrible post was going to be completely ignored and not get a nod from anyone. Oh well. Hope springs eternal..... At least there was only one attaboy out of several replies.
Happy thanksgiving to everyone. Even people who love to stir up trouble. Maybe you'll find something to be happy and peaceful and thankful about. :-)

What post? All I saw were really generous wishes for everyone at BCO to have a happy, peaceful, and safe Thanksgiving Holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving to All on these boards!
Whether you lean Left or Right, or stick to the Middle politically, may you enjoy this time with family and friends, and may we all have many reasons to be thankful for years to come.
-
I missed the initial post, but I think you'll already find a not so repectful republican thread if you're interested.
-
Amy, I am sorry, what did I miss? How is the Republican thread not being respectful? If you mean because they are discussing Republican thoughts? Or do you mean one can find a pot stirrer or two over there just trying to rustle feathers? I would hope you mean the latter because I don't see anything wrong with either side staying on their side of the mat. It's when the two try to engage each other that it gets messy ... and that's what thunderbummer wants.
-------------------
Everyone have a great Turkey day ... well except Amy! I would hope Amy has a great veggie day, as I heard you are giving up meat!
-
After all of the turkey talk I'm going back to my vegetarian ways and will not have any turkey on Tursday. Tofurkey anyone?
I am very thankful that I won't be working - woo, hoo!
-
Has anyone heard of tur-duck-en? Its a turkey stuffed with a duck which is stuffed with a chicken! How gross is that?? I can't believe the things people think of nowadays. Sounds so "overdoing" it.
-
Rock: That was on the Paul Deen show the other day....can't people just leave the trukey alone? If it ain't broken, why fix it?
-
If you are gonna stuff a turkey, at least do it with a purpose. Stuff the bird with ham, wrap it in bacon, place it on a bed of lettuce, garnish with tomato....then left overs could at least be club sandwiches.
-
Okay, I say "eeeeewwwwwww!!!" Now for SURE I won't be eating any turkey on Thursday!
-
Rocktobermom
Here we also do the turkey/ duck/ chicken thing, but we add a goose, as number 1, and a partridge as number 5 !!
Seems it goes back to Victorian times, for those who could afford it .
Isabella.
-
It does seem just a teeeeeny bit extravagant.

You know, I don't think everyone has to stay on his/her side of the mat, but what bothered me about the original post was the person's desire to be confrontational. I am all for respectful debate -- it helps me to clarify my own opinions and positions when I hear intelligent arguments from the "other side." But this is not the appropriate forum for down and dirty political bashing.
So -- happy Thanksgiving to all! Enjoy your turkey, or turduckchick, or tofurky, or whatever floats your boat. I am thankful for having made it through this hellish year of bc, thankful for having my health and my hair, and thankful for the support of all you wonderful ladies through this journey.
Lauren

Isabella, have you ever tasted one of those?
Has anybody had the tur-duck-en? A friend of mine said she didn't like it all ...
-
Rocktobermom.
No, never, couldn't afford to pig out like that. I bet its quite rich, and gives you collywobbles !
Isabella.
-
what's a "collywobble"? Do I want to know?
-
stomach upset !!!!!
Isabella.
-
OMG!!! Someone else who says "collywobbles"!! That is so cool! I grew up with that expression and no one else outside my family seems to know what it means.
You've made my Thanksgiving!
