Hey Ladies...
Well I live not far from Motown, right smack dab in the middle of the auto industry and I say NO too...even though it will probably have disastrous consequences for the prices of houses in my neighborhood and everything else around here.
It seems everybody agrees on this. Cars are polluting energy hogs anyway. This country needs a good public transportation network...we need to improve our trains. Imagine life without cars. We are the only major country in the western world without a good train system.
Mina, I agree with you too, and Oh Yes, how I loved Jackie. I wore pillbox. I miss the days when Ladies were in vogue, you know, the classy ones that didn't show skin like Jackie, Princess Grace, and Audrey Hepburn!!! Wish hats would come back!!!

How about a new show called "Begging For Bailout Dollars" and they would have to at least answer some intelligent questions, correctly, to be able to spin the giant wheel! Oh..but really..this is so ridiculous. They did look like a bunch of jack asses. And of course its sad for the worker at the bottom. Everything that is going on is sad for all of us working poor! However, feeding these money grubbing pigs at the top does not solve a damn thing! I think what we have to keep in mind is that out of the rubble new things are built. Out of chaos comes innovation. And new companies will start to pop up with new jobs and new creative ideas. And, again, the bail out is OUR money!! Who the hell is bailing out the working poor??? We are getting kicked all over the place while they try to pretend that giving them money to keep their fat jobs is going to be good for us! Right...let's just all turn on the TV and pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. It will be fine! No, not this time!! Keep your eye on all of it! It's our money!!!
OK..my rant for the day...off to MRI I go.

Have any of you heard the latest of George Bush legacies he plans to leave. He is going to sign in a document that will allow employers to check your health records before hiring you. We as breast cancer survivors or anyone that uses a doctor for an illness will ever get hired!!! This is so wrong and I hope he doesn't get away with it. His rating is so low I guess he wants to make sure he goes out as the worst president in the US History!!!!
-
Well, I agree, no bailout for the CEOs of the American auto industries. C'mon--All the Japanese auto makers have managed to produce wonderful hybrid cars in the past 10 years--and many different models to choose from. We have what, Ford, who managed to produce a couple? I say, enough of throwing good money after bad. I say fire all the top level administrators of the three auto makers. Bring in a good transition team that the government has oversite on; and perhaps consider giving shares to the employees of the automakers--so they own a share of the company. Let the employees run the company--I bet there are terrific workers with terrific ideas about how to turn the companies around. Stop blaming the unions (all the repugs keep doing that)--as if they are responsible for the decisions made by the CEOs. It's time to get rid of these arrogant sons of uknowwhat's at the top. They all deserve to be fired!
You are right, LuAnn--Bush is being a real creep! Luckily, anything he has signed since May 15, 2008 can be zeroed out by the new President Elect!! Too bad we can't have Bush get some nasty rash that won't go away for the rest of his life. Now that would be justice!!
Regarding Dashle--individual "beliefs" of what is right and wrong, be it gays or gender or religion or race--should not come into play at all--this man should be working on what's best for the people of this country, not what he personally thinks is best. That's how I feel. It doesn't happen that way, but it should, and we should make all political job holders accountable to US!! The millions of us who put them in office to do what's best for America. I'm tired of electing someone to office (or having the person elected to office appoint someone to a job in government) not remember who elected them and why they are there!
Oh, and seel those jets, and from now on those CEOs can take public transport--like the bus!! Time they mixed with the minions again and returned to knowing they are an earthly being. Ah, to put them in a project in the inner city and see how they like it!!
Okay, I'm done with my rant now.
-
Blaest, glad to see you back...I wondered if you had given up!!!
Actually I'm kind of surprised. This is the same screen-name I used yesterday and it hasn't been "terminated" . . . . yet. You know we all develop these on-line personas. I suppose I could change my name again considering certain posters complained to the moderators about me and the moderators are gunning for me. But I like my Blaest name and I like my on-line persona. I take it as a badge of honor that some people don't like me. Who wants to be liked by everybody? If you can't ruffle a few feathers now and then you don't have much of a personality imho. And I think its kind of amusing that the respectful republicans are so disrepectful when I respectfully post on their thread but disagree with them. But then, how can any logical, thinking person agree with their attitudes and what they stand for??
-
He is going to sign in a document that will allow employers to check your health records before hiring you.
I'll be honest. I have not heard this and don't see how he could do it. That is a matter of law, often state law, not executive fiat, about whether your employers will be able to check your health records before hiring you. Do you have a source I can check out?
-
Little G, just wait for the next Saturday Night Live...I betcha anything they do a skit on the Bailouts...Grace no need to excuse yourself for your rant...there's plenty of others that are pretty steamed too. What a royal ripoff? Do you know that this has already cost the average American family about $12,000, we're paying for executive cars, bonus checks, and vacations!!!!Everybody's pretty PO'd...not just on these boards but just about everybody I talk to.Linora

Feingold: Keep Bush from making 'short-sighted, self-serving' pardons.
The president has virtually unlimited authority to issue pardons for federal crimes, but Feingold says in a Salon.com essay that the president should think of his legacy.

I don't know who is giving Blaest a hard time and he has a right to post here as much as we do...it is not fair. I very much enjoy his contributions and I respect his determination to defend his own name. Differences of opinion should not be a reason to be banned.Blaest, as far as I can see you have been polite and respectful and I see no reason whatsoever why you shouldn't be allowed to post. I enjoy reading your posts.I hate it when one person gets victimized for no good reason.Linora

Great news from the House! Henry Waxman is in, Dingle is out. Waxman is a proven progressive and will push and prod where needed. Lieberman could learn a thing or two from him.
Thanks for the article links, Laura. Bush just keeps on traveling the same old road, expecting it to lead to a different destination. Meanwhile, the rest of the world has moved on. I thought the following from another WSJ article was most encouraging:
On Wednesday, the insurance industry's Washington trade group issued a statement saying it could accept new rules requiring companies to cover sick people, as well as healthy ones, as long as all Americans were required to have insurance, with subsidies for those who need them. The declaration by America's Health Insurance Plans is a switch from the industry's long-time opposition to rules that bar the common practice of weeding out customers who are likely to rack up too many bills.
In another sign of an early push for change, the powerful prescription-drug lobby has a new television ad out this week. "Early diagnosis and preventative treatment can save lives and lower health-care costs," spokesman Montel Williams says in the ad. "That's why everyone should have affordable health insurance."
-
live- where did you get those pictures, they're wonderful.
grace- I'm willing to give Dashle a chance and hope that his beliefs have evolved over the past decade. Remember Jocelyn Elders advocating masturbation and the right wing going bonkers LOL. She was way off saying it might decrease AIDS because most people want to be able to do both, and they don't settle for masturbation.
Re: the bail out. I still think consolodating the car manufacturers would be a good idea and turning the other 2 plants can be turned into the green manufacturing I suggested a few pages back. What if the government asked people like Buffet and Gates to temporarily buy start up the new car company, American Cars, they could pick the best and the brightest of the employees, buy the models that are green friendly and making a profit and let the others fail. I agree with linora on spending money on improving mass transit. I think we do need to have some American auto manufacturing in this country, for national security, and because some people will always need cars like doctors who are on call, people in rural areas where having public transportation wouldn't be cost effective etc.
bush is a freaking moron. He's also signing acts so that scientists can't use environmental concerns as a reason to stop drilling etc. He's such a sleaze bag. What the hell was Laura thinking when she married him? She definitely married down.
-
LOL, well Blaest1500 is gone, but 1501 is up and running . . . until tomorrow. The reason I am having these problems is because of IBC spouse, who went whining like a little girl to the moderators about my terrible posts. Can somebody explain to me why the whiners all tend to be republicans?
-
I found the info on CNN and what Bush is doing is issueing "Rules". With these he does not need anyone elses approval and these will take effect before Obama can reverse it. Eventually it can be undone but it will take some doing.
-
Well its not an absolute right for him to issue executive orders. They have been overturned a few times in the past by the courts if the courts believed those orders were usurping the province of the Congress, so there is a limit on what kind of orders he can execute. Don't forget Congress is another, independent branch of Congress and law derives from it, not the executive branch. RegardlessI sometimes wonder whether Bush is inherently evil and so yea, i would be very worried about what he is signing. Hopefully what he does can be reversed by Obama.
-
I'm sorry, but I just have to pop in to say....there is a rule that can only post five posts per day until they pass "the test." Best way I can put it. It's because of the spam we were getting. And Blaest has to follow the rules like everyone else. Once you prove yourself then they mods will give you all the freedom to post.
As far as I know no one has whined to the mods. Someone PMd me and asked why she couldn't post more than five times. At the time I didn't know about this rule. The mods eventually let her post all she wanted. It takes time and patience and the willing to "obey" the rules. It's each individual's CHOICE. If one chooses not to obey then one will not be able to post under one name. If the mods knew how to stop the rule breaker through their ISP they would. However, it seems they're technically challenged in this area.
Take responsibility for yourself and stop whining that it's someone else's fault. No one on our thread is running to the mods.
Shirley
-
You are absolutely wrong Shirley. With my original Blast ID I was doing perfectly ok until IBCspouse whined. How do I know that? Because he viciously attacked me under another thread. I can't remember where but I'm sure you can find it if you want. I considered him a nut-case after his attack and gave him no mind- I mean weirdos are all over the Internet and you learn to ignore them, but shortly after my Blaest ID was terminated. The only way that could have happened is if IBC went whining like a little girl to the moderators, claiming I was undesirable. The moderators then, without having the decency to even question me, simply accepted what IBC had to say and terminated me. Thereafter, Roborocket, or whatever her name, publicly whined in the moderator thread because of my continuing to create ids.. Every day the moderators have terminated my Blaest ID, despite the fact I have done nothing to warrant the termination. That means people continue to whine, bringing my posts to the attention of the moderators, or worse, they are so petty they are actually looking out for me.
So no Shirley, I have zero respect for the moderators and even less respect for the whiners from your respectfully republican thread. Reading some of the posts there it is obvious some of the people on that thread are simply not very nice people, and you know it .
As for the moderators being technically challenged, I may not have a lot of respect for the way they do their jobs and therefore will no longer follow their rules, but I do not believe they are necessarily technically challenged. The fact is the only way the can keep me off these boards is to demand identification from everybody who registers, and I doubt they are going to go that far to invade the privacy of the membership. I can change my IP address at will so they can't do anything in that arena.
But the moderators wouldn't be having problems with me if they were acting rationally or reasonably. Perhaps they should have terminated IBC spouse after his unwarranted attack on me, but they felt sorry for the poor little darling because his wife has cancer. Well you know what, so does mine. That's why I'm here, because I keep up on all the latest medical advances and advice. My wife simply doesn't want anything to do with this site because she doesn't want to think about her cancer. But the difference is that my wife, like the great majority of people on these boards, handles her life with dignity and she is whine free. She would never complain about people whose opinions she didn't like. She would never make rude or unwarranted comments. She would simply ignore them if she thought she should.
Bottom line, there is no excuse for the moderators or how they act in my opinion, their sexist biases or their failure to moderate in a reasonable or rational manner. So screw them.
-
And here I thought we were going to be troll free for a while. I guess anything for a little attention. Blaest, IBCSpouse came here once and tried to spread negativity on our thread, but after the election he came and spread a nice story about Obama's victory. I thought that was a nice thing to do. There are a few trolls on the repub board who come over here to cause trouble, but they are not representative of all over there. Think of it as if you were a prison guard, you wouldn't want to dignify the prisoner spreading feces on the bars by giving them attention for their disruptive and disgusting behavior. LOL.
luann- actually it's not going to be as difficult to undo bush's "rules" as Bush originally thought it would be. Congress needs only a simple majority to do so for rules passed after May 15th. Bush got his numbers wrong. We can thank Bill Clinton for changing that.
-
Blaest, I take offense at your phrase "whining like a little girl." You used it a couple times to mark your spot as alpha dog over ibcspouse.
Watch out for little girls. They wear sharp pointy shoes and know how to deliver a well-aimed kick.

Well, I didn't mean to fan the flames, but Blaest, it reallly is a waste of energy to get into personal vendettas on a board like this. We don't really know each other at all, we can't see each other, we can't hear each other, we miss all those rich aspects of communication that we have when we communicate in person, so it is easy to misjudge. If we had to deal with each other face to face I am sure we would be more polite.I agree with you that the moderators should do a better job, but this is such a busy, enormous forum that it is impossible for them to try every case of rudeness and impropriety and make a fair judgement. So they make rules and one of them is that you can't have multiple IDs...this forces people to have more integrity and to be more accountable for what that say. You broke this rule (which is part of the agreement to participate here), so they must enforce a rule they have publicly stated.
-
Amy, as much as you hate Shirley coming over here, she came over to explain to Blaest what is going on with his id's ... and you call Shirley a troll because she comes over here? Blaest has his panties in a tight wad because he was called a troll on the Republican thread. He is over there daily trying to stir it up ... he has also been doing that in another forum.
-
I get that Linora, and I am not all about personal vandetta. But the damn moderators won't let me alone. On the alternative medicine threads I have taken a stand against the Charlatans who try to promote scam cancer cures, and yet I am the one who is punished for doing so, while the unethical charlatans get to ply their trade without any attempt by the moderators to get rid of them. If the whiners are going to continue whining and the moderators are going to continue, every day, deleting my IDs than I am going to start making a daily issue of it.
Amy, it wasn't on this thread I was attacked by IBC spouse. It was another thread and can likely be found by searching his name. It was a totally uncalled for an unprovoked attack and yes, I consider him a whining little girl, but he is irrelevant to me and I would ignore him but for the fact I suspect he is the one following me around on a daily basis, complaining to the moderators and having my IDs terminated.
-
Lets not forget Rocket that you were the one who publicly whined about my ID's. As for my going over there, guilty as charged. But you know, who the heck wants to talk on a political thread and have everybody agreeing with you? That's what political threads are all about. Debate. There are certain areas people do not voice opinions unless they wish to be challenged. Politics, Religion and Abortion. Would you start a Pro-abortion thread and expect pro-lifers to stay away? Now if there is some agreement between these threads that one would not venture into the other's turf, well than I apologize for interfering. I wasn't aware you wanted to voice your ridiculous opinions over there without being challenged.
-
blaest - Your disrespect for the moderators is unacceptable. I don't know why they are terminating your user id's, but I have been on these boards for several years and I know that they provide an invaluable service to us all and they have a strong record of enforcing the rules of the board in a fair and consistent manner.
Even though I agree with your political views, I cannot support the way you are speaking to and about the ladies on this board.
I have tried to not fan the flames that you seem so eager to get started, but I really hope you either tone it down or move on to a board that suits your tone.
-

Well you were never their victim the way I have been, so what you consider unacceptable I consider justifiable. If they were enforcing the rules in a fair and consistent manner, my ID NEVER would have been terminated. There is nothing I have done that warranted that happening. Search all of the blaest posts by putting blaest in the search engines and fine a post from me that warranted my being deleted. If you can find it I will be happy to never post here again.

Can we just stop using the word "troll". Someone who has a different opinion is not a troll, they are just a person with a different opinion. When it is someone whose id is clearly known from other topics they surely aren't a troll.
-
blaest - I don't care to launch an investigation into why your ID was terminated in the first place, but I don't believe that it was done without cause. You are claiming to be the "victim" yet you keep coming back and violating the rules by creating multiple id's. You are clearly seeking drama.
peace out
-
Blaest, I think most of us have gotten the point that your termination was unfair, the reason for it was not that you did anything intentionally wrong, but that as a new poster you posted too many times and you looked like a scammer, but we know your intentions and we don't blame you. You are doing a good service to try to protect women from cancer scams.
Whether or not your original dismissal was fair or not, the multiple personality rule is here for good reason, and the moderators have no choice but to enforce that rule. Please do not take this personally and understand that we all must respect the same rules.
-
RM- If someone wants to talk to blaest or anyone else, a PM would be the best way rather than going onto a thread where one has previously causes problems. That to me is troll like behavior. I doubt the republican thread would appreciate if I did the same thing to one of their participants.
blaest- I agree with your political points, but when you use the term whining like a little girl, you play into gender stereotypes with which I disagree. Whining isn't female specific and I think that your point loses it's significance when a statement is seen as biased. Most of the people on this board are decent people. We can't let a few rotten apples spoil it for all of us and giving them attention just seems to fuel their fire.
Let's all keep this thread pro Obama and pro democratic agenda without getting into arguments with the other side.
On the off topic subject of why Sarah Palin just doesn't get it, have you all seen the disgusting video with her at the turkey farm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-kjM1asH-8 ? She pardons the turkey and then in another shot, talks about how politics is brutal and she's glad to be back among nicer things with turkeys being slaughtered in the background????? She was told by the camerman that this would be in the shot and said that it didn't matter? Not for the squeamish-- but this woman is so out of touch it's frightening.
-
Good morning Obama Ladies....well..I have good news...my MRI was NED!! I can't tell you how happy I am today!! Laura and and Amy..that turkey video is horrible!! She say's nothing of any significance during her interview (although, that's not new). And then she say's watching these poor turkeys being tortured provides "levity" and is "fun." ??? I'm not naive and I do realize that they do have to kill the turkeys in order to put them in the freezers and ship them around the world, however, I don't know what that machine is doing to the turkey, but you can see it struggling to get out. Nothing about that looks fun. And she's walking around dressed up and drinking a cup of coffee!!! Nice.
As far as the back and forth BS that's been going on. I don't get it. Who made anyone the Gestapo of the board? If you don't like the poster, ignore them. It's pretty simple actually. I never read threads that I'm not interested in. And if I start reading a post on a thread, and it dosn't sit with me, I just skip to the next.
OK..that's my input for now. Have a great day!!!!!
