Positive Obama thread

Amy -
I am afraid the republicans have created a monster by giving Sarah Palin a national stage. She is not going away anytime soon, I betcha.
-
As much as I think Palin is a joke, I do admit she has made the campaign a lot more interesting. We wouldn't have had nearly as much as to talk and laugh about if McCain had picked Romney or Lieberman. I also have to agree with Bill Maher that, as aggravating as the campaign has been at times, it's also been THE BEST ELECTION EVER.
Still, I'll be relieved when it's over. One cannot live on adrenilin and Huffington Post forever.

Amen, to that! l have even succumbed to a little left over Halloween Candy!
We are so close to getting our country back on the right track, the ground game is on and taking us thru to victory.
I can see the Obama Victory from my backyard and it is a wonderful sight!
-
It can be depressing to live in such a "red" county in Texas. So many McCain signs along the roads and in yards...
But today I saw more Obama stickers and signs than ever. And the guy at the car wash gave me a fist-bump and said "Go Obama!" when he saw my Obama sticker.
I had jury duty this morning - fortunately I got released, as I would have been dreading sitting on a jury tomorrow and not have access to the internet all day! On the other hand, I have to WORK tomorrow and will probably be worthless! I just wish I could go to sleep and wake up Tuesday night at 6 PM to watch the results start rolling in.
What a long road this has been!!
-
All I want is for this election to be over.
I don't think the country is going to turn communist or socialist or fascist no matter who is elected. I am tired of lies and half-truths and rumor and innuendo taking the place of civil, rational, adult discussion. Never before in my life have I seen such crap passed off as truth.
Brainwashing. Manchurian Candidates. Un-American. COMMUNIST? Dear god - how has it come to this? Questioning why we are in this country? WHEN DID A PROGRESSIVE INCOME TAX MEAN WE WERE COMMUNIST? Sorry. This truly has me so upset.
The hatred. Yes, hatred. I don't see it in real life - off the net - my co-workers and I have good discussions. We talk positive and negative. We love our children, our families, our country. We look for good - no matter if he/she walks on the left or the right.
It's a scary place out there. How will things come together post-election?
-
Pam,
You are so right - regardless of who wins, there is still going to be so much anger out there. Should the unthinkable happen and McCain wins, we will all be declaring that "they" have stolen it again (and it will be true - how can we possibly use a voting methodology that is unverifiable? Yet, more than half the country is). Should the right thing happen and Obama wins, "they" will be declaring that this is no longer their country. I have no idea how we will be able to put this behind us and work for our future together. Scares the crap out of me.
-
No matter who wins tomorrow, we should still be celebrating - cause Bush will be out! Whoo-Hoo!!
What scares me is the idea that McCain might actually WIN. It could happen, just like it did in 2000. The very idea of it makes me a little queasy...
And I hear you, Pam. The hatred - especially the nastiness displayed on this very message board - is so shocking and extremely hard to understand. Not sure how all of that will just fade away on 11/5...
But my biggest fear of all is that some looney tune, pissed off at the audacity of an Obama win, will try to kill the man. Sadly, it isn't too far fetched a notion, either. People are crazy!
I'll be glad when it is over, but then what? Are the sides too diametrically opposed to even begin to heal this rift? Will the mass exodus to Canada and Mexico begin before inauguration day?
-
Just an FYI - it is being reported that Obama's grandmother has passed away.
-
sad news that barack's grandma has passed just released.
glad that he had the chance to see here when he did.
she must have been so proud of him.
very sad.
-
How sad that she didn't live to see Barack being elected, but she'll be watching from Heaven on this historic day.
I am so grateful that she helped raise such a tremendous leader for our great country.
Rest in peace.
-
What sad news. Thank you Toot. We're as proud of you as you must have been of Barack. Rest in peace.
-
-
Hoooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy OBAMA!!! You're gonna win, you're gonna win!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel it in my bones.Grandma is watching and waiting.
-
Rest in Peace, Toot. You are an amazing woman to raise such a wonderful, intelligent, articulate son. The world is a better place with him here on earth--and hopefully in that White House--not a moment too soon!
I too have been saddened by the backlash of hate that seems to be on this site. There are too many who believe it's my way or the highway. I hope that we can learn the lesson Obama will be teaching us as he puts together his cabinet and a wonderful selection of advisors. Obama is a leader whose time has come in this great nation (at least that's what I hope he will make it as President of the USA) as he puts all the pieces back together again. It's time we all worked together and realized that all of us are American citizens and that we are big enough to let bigones be bigones and help change this country into the supportive, kind, peaceful nation we all need at this time in the world. We are not just a nation that's looked up to by other nations on our planet, we are members of the human race. We come in all colors and sizes and spiritual paths and there should be no judgement here on earth--any judgement should come after we have left this earthly plain to take up our next life (whatever that might look like). We must work with other nations to solve the energy crisis, global warming, and ending all wars before we destroy this planet. We must set an example that others can look to for guidance. I hope and pray Obama wins, and we are on our way to a new re-beginning!!
Whoo-hoo!! Go Obama/Biden!!!
-
I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out. I so wanted her to hang on to see him get elected tomorrow. Toot, you will be missed. We thank you for what you've given to the world.
On a more optimistic note, phillies manager Charlie Manual lost his mother right before the world series and outfielder Shane Victorino, from Hawaii, lost his grandmother on the same day. They both said their mom and grandmom were in the outfield batting down fly balls. Toot will be batting down republicans attempting to supress the vote and slandering Obama.
-
I believe Barack's grandmother is now in a place where pain is no longer a factor and she can watch as her grandson takes his place in the history books, and takes his place as our new President Elect Barack Obama!!! We are SO close now!!!!!!!! I know he will do it!!!! Just keep reminding everyone to get out there and vote!!! No time to sit back and watch, we still need to get that word out!! All positive thoughts going out to Barack!! He's come so far..he can and will do this. He IS our next President!!!!
Obama' 08...it's almost here!!!!
-
I know that Obama's mother died of ovarian cancer. Anyone know what kind of cancer his grandmother had? I can't find it on the internet. Just curious. I think she knew that her grandson was winning, and probably was at peace with that. She probably knew she would not last until January for the inaguration. (sp)
-
I'm so nervous!
Nicki
-
Nicki!! Did you vote yet?? Stop pacing the floor and get out there and get that vote in!! We are going to ROCK this Vote to the ground!!!! :-)
-
Nicki....me too! He HAS to win, he just HAS to!!!
-
I have seen the ugliest ads of the campaign today. On the day Obama is mourning his grandmother and the race looks lost to McCain, is this really necessary. No obama supporters will change their minds and studies have showed undecideds this late aren't swayed by ads appealing to the lowest common denominator. i think the ads, like the one of the woman who said she was a product of a botched abortion and Obama voted for her be dead (lies) and Reverend Wright god damning america-each shown several times an hour are in place to prevent unity between the parties and signal the most unbalanced McCain supporters to be against the Obama presidency and the country. One of the republicans here, I can't remember which one, said the difference between dems and repubs is that for democrats patriotism seems to be contingent on having a president we like etc and for repubs it's unconditional. I heard at least one republican suggested the way we talk about Bush was unpatriotic. I certainly hope that means with Obama as president they will treat him with the respect they asked from those of us who think Bush is a joke.
-
He's coming back to hold a rally just 15 miles from our house tonight.Virginia loves Barack Obama!Fist-bump to you, djd, you'll be here in spirit, right?
-
Amy...they are disgusting ads. Someone might want to tell the troll supporters, we are NOT voting for Rev. Wright, his name is not on the ticket. They are reaching for anything they can find. Anything. They are going after Barack's father's half sister because she is not a "legal" alien. And?? It is sickening. But..we have to keep in mind, this is the minority of the population that feel like this. We are going to see history tomorrow!! Despite all of their nasty ads and lies. Sadly, for Barack's speech tomorrow, they are setting up bullet proof shields for him. He is more than brave to do what he is doing, and he is doing it for all of us too!! I am so proud to be a supporter of such a great man!!! Don't worry ladies, he IS going to win!!

We are going to see history tomorrow!!
Little gggggggggggggg ...
I am going to hold you to that!!!!!
Obama '08 could not be any closer....WE CAN do this!
-
Nicki, I love your kitty! Where can I get one?
As upsetting and pointless as those 527 ads are, I've decided not to dwell on them, especially in light of Toot's death and tomorrow's historic election. I'm confident of my choice and that's all that matters for now. We will prevail.
One of the many things I love about Obama's candidacy is how it has inspired creativity in people of all ages. It's hard to imagine life before YouTube! This video was posted on Andrew Sullivan's blog today. It was done a few months ago, but is perfect for today. It's "One More Day" from Les Miserables, Obamasized. A nice antedote to the 527s.

-
Laura....please do!! I see into the rabbit hole...he is there!!!! LA..thanks for the link! Keep the positive energy going!! VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!!!! BaROCK the VOTE!!!
-
g- Obama reigned in his 527s-either McCain didn't have the power in his party to do so, OR he chose not to, I say the latter.
But who cares about that crap----- we're almost there. One more night to sleep without obama as the president elect. For those counting 77 days until inauguration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Amy...I know it's been said before, but I'm going to say it again..thanks for starting this thread!! It has been so great to get to know all of the Obama supporters!!! So..as we head into the final hours, thanks to all!! And I look forward to our continued discussions and keeping this thread alive! Yes...after tomorrow...we will start discussing the inauguration!!
Remember....remind everyone to get out there tomorrow..no matter how crappy, or cold or rainy, or long the lines are!!! Get it done!!! VOTE!!!!!
Obama '08....WOW...it's almost here!!!!!!!!
-
Oh Obama girls,
If you haven't seen keith olberman tonight, you've just got to!! He takes all of McC's gaffes, mistakes, freudian slips, etc. and asks what would happen if Barack had done all these--then shows clips with the mistakes done overvoice--it is hilarious. I did not realize McC made sooooo many throughout his campaign, I mean we're talking about 40+. Makes me realize how much leeway people give the "white" guy. We all know that it would not be the same for Obama. That racism is just sittin' right out there. Yea, you betcha.
Hope you get to see it. He's a real supporter of Barack. Whoo-hoo!!
The time has come--and Barack's the one!!!!
-
anna... all eyes are on virginia... watching rachel and going nuts that a precinct with 40% increase in registration has ONE machine.......?
this kind of stuff drives me nuts!
