did you see the video of Obama out in the pouring rain speaking to od knows how many people today? HE was drenched to the skin (so was the crowd) but boy was he ON today!!!!!

When I was in Japan last year, vacationing and seeing visiting our dear cyber-sister Fumi, we were near a train station and I noticed a poster with George W. Bush's picture on it. The caption below it was in Japanese, so I didn't know what it said, but I heard Fumi snicker, so I asked her what was so funny. She translated the caption for me - let's just say it wasn't purty! (think "buck fush").
I received an email from a European co-worker today - the subject line was "SEVEN MORE DAYS!"
The entire free world is going to breathe a sigh of relief next Tuesday night!!!
-
blue- that's my grad school alma mater where Obama got poured on, Widener University in Chester, PA (there's a delaware campus too).
LAP- I think Obama's favored 80% in every country in the world, except ours, only just over 50%
-
I heard McSame canceled his rally due to rain.....
-
In a world election, there are only 3 countries that picked the troll. 2 were very small, I don't remember the names, and the other was Iraq. Isn't that interesting. 7 more days!! Only a small percentage of Oregonians has voted so far. I need to get out there and do some door knocking!! Let's all really rock this vote!!!
Amy..to bad you couldn't be there today! Maybe under an umbrella :-) ? He was very awesome, as usual!! I can not wait until he is in!!!

g- Iraq really chose McCain who doesn't want to get out of Iraq any time soon?????? They want us out now, maybe they just surveyed the US soldiers fighting in Iraq. No, they want to come home. Hmmmmm. BTW, Obama had 9000 people in the pouring rain, and they weren't all college students. McCain has trouble getting that in perfect weather.
I'm excited to see the Obama special on tv tonight I heard the last part will be live from a FLA rally with Bill Clinton.
-
Shirley: SO? That's pretty obvious. What's your point?
-
amy - i am also very much looking forward to barack's special tonight. rumours are that colin powell and warren buffet might be included.
six days to President- elect Barack Obama
nice to see florida extended early voting hours.
busy week for palin so far...from rogue to diva to whack job ...
mccain busy saying we are winning in iraq. a lie. but then he lied on wmd and mission accomplished. i don't expect the old man to learn new ways...
today, the old loser continues to roll with joe the plumber who has hired a publicist. amazing that mcbush is pinning his closing arguments on joe and the old liberal tax and spend rhetoric, looks like the straight talk express has run out of gas maybe even blew a gasket.
a big special thanks to sen. stevens, convicted felon, for getting us one seat closer to sixty.
wooohooo... we are going to do this...
the gotv ground game is on!
-
I just saw a "live feed" on the net of John McCain continuing his Joe the Plumber Tour" at a Lumberyard in Miami. They didn't even bother to pan the crowd with the cameras. IT sounds like there's only a few hundred (if that) people there. Mu husband and I are cracking up..... a Joe the plumber tour?????? Bwahahahahahaha ....sad, very sad..... Bush's doofy brother told everyone to get out and vote....he says" hell, this is Florida, vote often".....moron

i'm glad you guys mentioned us foreigners. your country affects us in so many ways it makes me angry when i hear about uninformed voters. i read one guy was going to vote for mccain because palin hunts moose! it would be funny if it weren't so awful and if the world weren't in such a mess.
i want to wish you the best of luck for the fourth! i'm having a party that night to watch the returns. people here are so overwhelmingly for obama that i didn't even ask my guests who they were rooting for. the choice seems obvious and we find it hard to understand the appeal of mccain/palin.
yes, we will breath a sigh of relief. the love of war, adulation of the military, deference to power, religious fanaticism, hatred and suspicion of government, dislike of intellect etc. are all strange and disturbing to us.
all of this spills over the border to some extent, affecting the dialogue and the way questions are perceived and framed.
sometimes it spills over literally. a doctor who performs abortions here was shot by a guy who came over the border. this past summer, there was a horrific incident where a young man was beheaded on a bus by another passenger. a bunch of religious fanatics from the us said that the incident was canada's punishment for allowing abortion and gay marriage and that they were going to picket the boy's funeral to press this point home. apparently many people formed a unit to ring the funeral and protect the mourners from this "protest". in the end they didn't show up, but i found the incident deeply chilling.
i will be very happy when the whole right wing thing of the past 20 years dies. everything from market fundamentalism to the reverence for wealth. it's been exhausting and depressing.
-
Darya: WELL said.... actually I 've always thought of you Canadians more like northern neighbors than foreigners. I think many of the repubs are narcissistic in that they seem to think what happens in this country only affects people HERE. WRONG! I was in Ireland again recently and people there are shaking their heads wondering what the hell we are doing? They STILL can't get over the fact that Bush got in for another 4 years, let alone what's happening in this climate. EVERYTHING we do affects global economics. I wish it weren't so, but it is. I too hope that people educate themselves and vote because they have valid reasons to do so, not because "they are afraid" of trying something different...The way I see it is this:
What's the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. 'Nuff said.
Go OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6 more days. Have a great party on the 4th!!!!
-
Thanks for posting. I hate the ethnocentrism coming from the republicans and the xenophobic remarks from many on the other side. I am so embarrassed by some of the idiocity coming out of some McCain supporters. I'm with you about the right wing thing dying out- the sooner the better. I'm so sick of the negative lies coming out of the McCain camp.
blue- i don't think of canadians or mexicans as foreigners but as neighbors either.
-
Shirley, Colombia (not Columbia) *is* a Latin American country. An immigrant from that country would be rightly called Hispanic. Or am I missing something?
-
Iza...my point exactly.... don't know what they think over there ------------------------>
-
So glad Obama is pushing for better education and helping kids pay for college
,
-
Darya...very well put. It's incredible how closed minded the right wing is and how they really believe America is a power house that lays down the rules around the world. The people that support this mentality have probably never left American soil. Other than to go to Mexico and sit in a resort. They think the world spins around the US. And it just isn't so. Thank's for your input! With the world's energy and those of us over here, we can get this done!!
Amy..on the Iraq thing..oil. I think that would sum it up. For both sides. They need the US as we consume the most oil per person on this planet. And of course, if you don't look into any other alternatives, you need to keep buying it.
What time is the special on tonight? I'm on the west coast. I don't want to miss that. I did find out that my friend (who I thought was going to vote the troll) is voting Obama!! I was so happy!! She's hiding it from her husband though, as he is a troll voter. I wouldn't be surprised if he also voted Obama but just didn't say anything.
OBAMA '08...we are almost there!!!!!!!!!!

madalyn,
Thanks for that letter to the editor. It reminded me of some thoughts I ahd last night as I was listening to clips of a Palin speech. She was denouncing the government's role in our lives; emphasizing how we don't want the government to make our personal decisions for us.
I thought WTF??? She and her ilk want to put the government in our bedrooms and take over women's bodies to outlaw abortion, remove our right to reproductive freedom.
Why is it some only want government to intervene when it suits their personal values? Sort of hypocritical, if you ask me!

My god. This time next week we'll have a new president. If it's Obama, we'll be giddy and full of hope for a new direction. If it's McCain, well, the sun will probably still come up. It did in 2000 and 2004...
If it's Obama, it will be exciting but humbling. Our nation will be handed the opportunity to make a real difference in the world. A positive one, for a change. We had a similar opportunity on 9/12/01 and we squandered it. We can never do that again. With Obama, I don't think we will.
If the Dems get a filibuster-proof congress, then we really have to be smart and work hard for the people, with quick, solid legislation. Or we'll be fired in 2010. It's quite a responsibility ahead of us, in this scenario, not to be taken lightly.
I think Obama is up to the task. That's why he has my vote. Congress in its pettiness has me a bit more concerned.

VIVA OBAMA!
The latest CNN/Opinion Research Corp. polls show Obama leading McCain 65 to 30% nationally
among Latinos.
And in the important swing state of New Mexico recent polls show McCain's 4-point lead
disappears when the Latino vote (32.4% of registered voters) is factored in, leaving Obama with
an 8-point lead.
Seven in 10 Hispanic voters in Colorado say they are voting for Barack Obama.
-
Ladies...this is a great article!!!! It shows some of the world opinion on what is going on over here. Obama WILL be our next President!! Don't stop believing... we only have 6 days to go!! The power of positive thinking!!!!!!!

You've got that right. They don't want to regulate business, banks and stock brokers, but they want to regulate women's reproductive rights and gay relationships.
g- I forgot about all that oil. the reason for the Iraq war and and the over 4000 dead troops 9well, that and avenging daddy's failures).

And Grin,
And Say,
Oh!
The sun'll come out

Come what may

"You've got that right. They don't want to regulate business, banks and stock brokers, but they want to regulate women's reproductive rights and gay relationships." Wow...you said this SO great!!! I have goosebumps. It is so simple and obvious. This should be a bumper sticker!!
Way to go on the song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone sing it really LOUD!!! The right is going down in a big ball of flames!!!!!!!!!!! :-) Keep moving forward!! 6 more long days, but we are right there!!

Saw a great bumper sticler today in CT..
"It'll be a great day when schools get everything they need and the Air Force has to hold a bake sale to buy a bomber".....
Before anyone starts with the replies from over -----------------> I have absolutely nothing against the Air Force or any other branch of the armed services..... My cousin is now in Iraq (God help him)... I just think the buumper sticker speaks volumes to the repub mindset. Fund that damn war at all cost... what war comes down to is sending our kids to kill someone else's.... I think with Obama we will see a better way...

Sorry, I really need to preview before I hit submit. I apologize for the typos. I hate them too.
